We ordered from here a few nights ago. This was my first time getting pizza here. I was told this was the primo spot for good pizza. I ordered a Sicilian pizza and was not impressed. The sauce was runny, the cheese mostly melted, the dough was thick and burnt underneath. I went in to pick up and it was like walking into one of those Mississippi towns where the music stops and everyone stares. Then someone says "you ain't from around here". Very unwelcoming. I guess you must be a local to get good courteous service. I paid and the lady watched me give a tip, which was not much because I picked up, but she gave a disgusted look. I most likely will avoid this place. Very disheartening to see how rude people are and how horrible the pizza was. If you frequent this place and they know you, enjoy. You're keeping them in business. If you're not from these parts avoid and maybe they will get their act straight and do things right. read more

My daughter and I drove by and we were both craving pizza, so we decided to stopped by. We loved it! We shared a thin crust half cheese half ham and mushrooms, it was delicious! As a dessert, we shared chocolate cake, which was pretty good! They do serve alcohol. Service was great. Ambiance is so welcoming, it gave me a feeling of an old style pizza spot. It's a bit far from where we live, I do know they have an outdoor area for the summer. It's so good that we decided we will be back then. read more

We stopped here on the way to see a show in Newton. The food was delicious. Fried Calamari was crispy and tasted wonderful. We got chicken Waldorf salad. The chicken was grilled perfectly. Hands down the absolute best Grandmas pie there is. But every single thing we've ever ordered here is so delicious. The staff is also always so nice. We enjoy sitting in the other space adjacent to the main building where you can also rent out for small parties. We take everyone we know there who hasn't tried it yet and they're always impressed with it! Try the pizzas and salads and chicken dishes and...all of it. Try all of it! This place is rustic & we ate in the covered gazebo which was much nicer than I expected. We started off with bourbon on the rocks & a caesar salad to split. Salad would have been better if it was drenched in dressing. For dinner we shared the Palermo pie w/crumbled sausage & it was delish! We asked for it well-done charred & it came out that way. Very enjoyable & plenty of food - we brought some of it home. Only thing that annoyed me about this place is the price of a bourbon on the rocks - $14 - really? Have been coming for a couple of years. The Italian food is not bad for a pizzeria, however food is no longer made by Italians (anywhere) the red sauce is bland, not like mom makes it, but not too bad. The portions could be larger for what the dinner costs. If you do go, eat in the gazebo, we could not wait to get out of the dining room here's why...the guys making the pizza were slapping around the pizza dough like they were banging on a battle ship, the waitress was so loud talking constantly that you need ear plugs and could still hear her, the biggest noise came from the "dinging" every time the front door opened and closed. What they need to do is put some things in the dining room to absorb the sounds, muffle it, without this it makes dining experience as if you were at a loud sports bar. The linguine portion was small and the sauce again....I've had Ragu better than this, the chicken franchisee was not bad but all in all the bill with one drink and two deserts was about $66 plus tip which even leaving 20% was over paid...I have to say in the past we have eaten in the gazebo and it was much quieter unless there is a party but a complete difference from eating inside by the bar. The pizza however is what they are known for and should just stick to that and sandwiches. read more

Excellent penne carbonara! Excellent chicken and bow-tie pasta! Krissy was an unbelievable server, friendly and answered every question. This place is a hidden gem located on Rt. 94, a small two lane backroad midway between Rt 80 and Newton, NJ. Small seating area inside but a cute gazebo with more room. This place is great, especially their pasta dishes. They have the most creative and fresh tasting pasta dishes around. Steak gorgonzola alfredo, eggplant parm, and Lobster ravioli are my favorites but I have had most and they are all superb. Specials are always good and they do actually rotate regularly. Prices are reasonable considering all entrees come with a salad, bread, and 2 tiny pizza squares. I highly recommend it if you are nearby. I promise you will not regret going there. Ignore the 2 commenters that placed bad reviews. The owner is very pleasant and I have NEVER seen him yell at customers. As to the one who says it's inconsistent and there is no flavor. We had dinner here on our way to Fairview Camp ground. We were a party of 16 with 10 of that being loud kids. The restaurant accommodated our crazy numbers, excused our late arrival and had endless patience with our rowdy little troop. The food was amazing even by NYC standards. We were completely blown away. We had calamari, wings, lobster ravioli and a variety of other dishes. Everything was delicious. The drinks were great too! They have a full bar. The restaurant is tiny but had no problem making space for us. We'll absolutely be back next year on our way to campground read more

Yes yes yes!!!! Finally found our place after a year and a half living in Newton. Got the grandma pie which was delicious. We walked in without a reservation on a Friday night and sat at the bar which was a little tight but we didn't mind. Drinks were a good pour and our server was great. We didn't even talk during dinner we just watched her move - she did the work of four servers and was spinning circles around everyone else working behind the counter. Cescos is hands down the best Italian food you will find in Sussex county. Pizzas are thin and perfectly crispy, salads are fresh and delicious, and the entrees never disappoint. Ordered a large delivery order, which did arrive within the hour they promised. The major disappointment was not getting what I ordered and paid for. Instead of eggplant parm, got chicken parm. How can you read back an order and then deliver the wrong thing? Chicken parmigiana was not very good. Unimpressed by their sauce. Rest of order was ok, not great. Won't be ordering from again. This restaurant has seen a tremendous upscale effort. It moved from one side of the road to the other and as it did it went from a pizza joint to a restaurant establishment. It is more spacious and classier with more room for larger groups and families while still maintaining the family owned atmosphere. The food is excellent. Very high quality Italian. Can't believe how lucky we are to have a great Italian family restaurant so close by! I had little hope for good pizza, the farther north and west we moved in Jersey. But Cesco's is molto bene!
