The DJ totally knew how to read the crowd. He played a great combo of dance music (my main request) along w the occasional power ballad. We requested a cumbia (half of my family is Mexican)- this song got a bunch of people on the floor, so he followed up with some similar Latin songs. The coup de grace was the Grease medley that had everyone singing at the top of their lungs. I have never heard that mix at an event and people were *super* into it hahaha. Pricing, setup, etc- were all fantastic. When talking to Robert on the phone when we set up our contract, he genuinely seemed to care about making sure our wedding was a hit without charging us an arm and a leg. I chose this restaurant for my baby shower because of that history and that trust. I booked with the new owner in early February and worked through multiple scheduling changes just to secure the private party room, away from the bar. I didn't ask for a written contract. After 20 years, it never crossed my mind that I'd need one. The day before my shower, I reached out with our final head count -- because no one had contacted me, which was already a red flag. That's when everything fell apart. I was told the room had changed and I wpuld be in the front right next to the bar. When I expressed my frustration, I was told I could keep the room but had to leave earlier than planned for the dinner rush. And when I asked why none of this came up in the six weeks since booking, the owner told me it was because my count was lower than expected and that he had passed on a 50-person party for mine. I was floored. After two decades of loyalty, I was made to feel like a burden at my own baby shower. I was never told there was a minimum headcount requirement. That should have been said upfront -- not the day before my event. We kept the room but I spent the whole party feeling rushed and unwelcome. Staff was already breaking down tables while we were still there wrapping up the event. The owners never once stopped by to say hello or acknowledge the occasion. And then I found out that our favorite chef -- someone who had been the heart of this kitchen for 25 years -- was let go for no good reason. he was part of the reason we always had our parties here. This place has changed in all the wrong ways. We won't be back, and I can no longer recommend it to anyone. I hope the new ownership understands what they've lost -- because it's more than just customers.

With the restrictions at the time we had about half of our original guest list attend our wedding but Scott and his music warmed up the room and was the absolute perfect touch that we were looking for. One of my favorite moments from our wedding day was when my new husband and I stood alone on the balcony, looking down at our guests and during cocktail hour. I felt like my husband and I were floating in this perfect bubble and Scott's jazz trio will forever be the backdrop in this memory. In a bar right across the street from the Ronkonkoma train station, I walked into a setting unlike any other. People were singing along to ZZ Top classics, couples were actually dancing, and the air was full of laughter. While I don't consider myself well-versed in the intricacies of classic rock, Sharp Dressed Band had my full attention the second I sat down. I was fully sold when, between the first and second acts the band took a break, and I actually got to talk with the members. Their bassist, Bobby Dee, was especially warm and welcoming, sharing a joke, and told me just how much music meant to him and the other members of the band. Long story short, there are plenty of bands out there that CLAIM to know classic rock, and CLAIM to know what the people want, and most importantly, CLAIM to know ZZ Top.
