Everything was yummy and service was great. Our group had the mushroom fettuccine, braised short ribs, veggie enchiladas. I had the short ribs which was perfectly cooked and good size portion. I tasted the enchiladas but it needed to be a bit more spicier for my taste. We tried 3 desserts. The flan, Nepolean, and hot fudge cake. All were great and presented perfectly but my favorite was the flan. Looking around the restaurant a lot of people ordered the salad, fish n chips and burger. Would definitely come back! read more

We have dined at Brezzo several times now and sampled both their brunch and dinner menus. Excellent lunch and brunch, and good for dinner. The banana kalua french toast and Mt. Tam potatoes are outstanding, I've also had the tri tip sandwich which was very good. For dinner we've tried the game hen, fried chicken, mushroom and Brie tart, fish and chips, and short ribs. Everything, was well made, one or two items just a touch salty but that could have just been my palate that day. Service is friendly and attentive, flan for dessert was delicious. read more

WHOA! My inaugural visit to this venue, Brezo Restaurant....the tone had been set earlier/a few days ago when I called to inquire about brunch reservation parameters. The ensuing convo should have been revelatory as to what was in store for me. But I digress....I'd been researching highly rated venues which offered Chilaquiles Verde in the Berkeley/Albany area, and Brezo made the cut. Wellllll, once at Brezo, and after perusing the menu, we ended up with what we felt were more intriguing menu options than Chilaquiles which simply means our return visit will be imminent. I only wish I'd taken pics of our entrees: Woodland Omelet and Steak and Egg Salad. However, trust that both were superlative in execution! Relative to service, from the onset (phone reservation inquiry), the customer service remained exemplary! I didn't even have to ask for coffee refill due to watchful observations of staff! I engaged with at least 3 staff and everyone exhibited sincere/authentic relational skills! Looking forward to a return visit sooner vs. later if only to taste the Banana Kahlua French Toast, etc., yet trust that the cumulative consummate experience speaks not only to the high calibre of culinary offerings but also the exceptional customer service and execution of elevated dining! read more

Enjoyed the Jazz music in the background - all the ingredients were fresh - over easy eggs were perfect. The cleanliness was welcoming. The hostess was prompt. The only question I have based on having been accustomed to from the French owner beforehand: fresh flowers on the tables outside. A charm was added - welcoming the passerby's. read more

We have been dining at Brezo for at least 5 years. Our daughter has grown up frequenting Brezo so it holds a special place in our hearts. The food is always excellent, the servers are always happy to see us, and the new location is so cute! My typical order is the cheesy polenta and a decaf mocha. My daughter loves the gluten free pancakes, and my partner usually orders the burger or chicken sandwich. Some other menu faves of mine are the Mt. Tam Potatoes and the Quinoa Salad. read more

Our server was OUTSTANDING! She was incredibly patient with a party of 5 women catching up after years of not seeing each other. The salad was delicious and made perfect with grilled chicken breast. Wow! I'm so glad we stopped here after the Columbia store because it was definitely worth it! When you come in you order at the bar/counter area and they will give you a number and you can sit anywhere available. I ordered the chilaquiles and hubby ordered the Chirizo Torta and both were very good! I really loved the chilaquiles here and will definitely order it again if I'm back. The quality of food wasn't great. My husband had hamburger with meat patty like McDonald's. I had a Tuscan Kale soup that was salty and tasted like from a can. The server wasn't experienced and we had to ask for water and tea refills. It took a while to get our food served. Horseradish is a spice/condiment that has a strong flavor profile, but it's best used in moderation. When my $12 bloody mary showed up, it looked amazing, but the taste was 100% horseradish. I know it's a common ingredient in bloody marys, but this was way too much. When my fried chicken sandwich had the exact same flavor profile, I thought I was confused. Nothing on the menu suggests horseradish on the sandwich, so maybe it's the aioli or the dijon. To me, and my friends, it tasted like horseradish. Whatever it was, it was so pungent and powerful that I couldn't taste the chicken, the coleslaw, the bread or any of the other ingredients. It didn't help that the chicken filet arrived soggy and just luke-warm. The vibe of the place is nice and the staff super friendly, but beware of the horseradish! read more

We just had a delicious meal at Brezo Restaurant! The kale salad was very yummy & the large size so generous for sharing among the 3 of us. The Game hen with a Pepita mole sauce was quite flavorful, with roasted kabucha squash a nice pairing on the plate. My daughter & hubbie really enjoyed the burger & steak with frites too! Outstanding dishes from appetizers to deserts. The calico salad deserves special mention.

Food was good and plentiful. I got the cubano pork sandwich and loved the spicy pulled pork with the pickles and the beans. I was not a fan of the thinly sliced ham loaf luncheon meat in there- did they run out of pulled pork? But the fries were great- crispy and light. Very good price for what I got I think in this market and the staff was friendly and attentive- love their outdoor seating. Overall a very nice addition to the neighborhood and a great place for lunch. read more

I hate to do this because it's a great location (especially for me :/), but 3 is being generous. Went with a part of 5 and we all got something different, all was not great. First of all it was a hot mess trying to get a table and when we did we had to clean it ourselves. I get the whole marketplace idea but it was packed and everyone someone walked in, they had no idea what to do. You also walk right into benzo line which kinda sucks for the oyster place which is tucked away. Anyway, I got the benzo burger which tasted like it had been sitting on the grill for awhile then they slapped a bunch of stuff on it. Fries were good I guess. Meat just didn't taste right either. Then I saw the chicken sad which which my guest couldn't even eat because it was a giant loaf filled with a charred piece of dried chicken. Now I appreciate all the options on the menu, but I would suggest making it smaller and focusing on making a few dishes the opposite of not great. I need this place to change because its where I take all my guests...they or I'll try the bbq and oyster place next. Sorry, but before it became a marketplace, it was much better. I love the Calico salad with fried chicken! The food is fresh and delicious. There is room for improvement in the service, that's the only reason for the four stars. We waited over 20 minutes for a salad and tina melt and had to go back to the counter to ask for an update. By the time the food was ready we didn't have time to eat there and had to get it to go because we had to get back to work. read more

Welcome Brezo to Solano Ave in Albany! Husband and I had lunch and enjoyed the food and service. I had a Gordita with Pulled Pork and salad. The flavors were just right. I liked that the salad was dressed with a light vinaigrette, and came with chickpeas, cucumbers, and fresh greens. Hubby had Fish and Chips and we shared bites. The fish was moist and flaky, and the chips were delicious. Even the tartar sauce tasted freshly made. We will go again for dinner and breakfast. read more

I ordered Sunday a take out fried chicken sandwich with fries. First off: the chicken was cut very inconsistently so parts of it looked paper thin (1/12" of an inch thick), and then at some sections about 1/4" thick (reasonable). The chicken itself had a nice crispy coating, however, there was an underwhelming amount of underseasoning. The chicken did not taste marinated, the coating was unflavored, and the finished product, not salted. The jalepeno slaw was neither sweet or sour or even spicy...just a crunch to add to the crunchy breading. The bread itself was tasty but due to the misproportions with the chicken, felt overwhelming as you consumed the sandwich. I ended up rifling thru the fridge and tried adding teriyaki sauce to the sandwich in order to add some flavor. However, it was not enough to save it. It felt like a bad, unsatisfying sandwich to eat given the wide array of bay area fried chicken joints that do a much better job. Bakesale Betty's and Proposition Chicken feel galaxies ahead of Brezo. Shame as the sandwich had the looks of being a quality bite but couldn't deliver. We were sad to lose Rendezvous, but decided to check this place out for dinner. Everything was delicious! The salmon was a particular standout, as well as the hot fudge cake. They still have the outdoor dining that Rendezvous had (some tables for 2 next to the restaurant, plus a covered parklet in the street with benches), which we appreciate. Very nice service. A few weeks ago, we were delighted to find that the former "Rendez Vous" restaurant had been reopened under the name of "Brezo". One cannot escape the desire to compare the new Brezo restaurant with the old Rendez Vous. The walls have been freshly painted and there are less tables available, which makes the restaurant less crammed and more enjoyable. And we walked in for lunch. We ordered the mussels, which usually are only served for dinner. The mussels were large, served still in large shells, in a bowl and were delicious! So last night we went back for dinner. We ordered the mussels again. We were very disappointed with the mussels; the mussels were tinny compared to the mussels we had a few weeks ago. We got a bowl of large shells with tinny mussels which did not jive with the large shells! We also ordered salmon, French fries and two glasses of red wine. The salmon ad French fries were delicious. The wine, a pinot noir, was good but the amount was disappointing when you are charged $15/glass! The corking fee is $15 so you are much better off to bring your own bottle of wine and pay the corking fee. Overall the cost of a dinner at Brezo is about 50% higher compared to what the cost was for a dinner at Rendez Vous, while the quality of the food is about the same. We cannot give the restaurant 5 stars and we think that a 3-star rating is correct. read more

The place is in old factory building, very nice location with an awesome view of the marina and bay, but appearances it's not all. I came to this restaurant motivated for the 5 starts reviews that this app Yelp gave them. I believe is over rated. Menu is very limited and on Sunday brunch they ran off of Bacon!!!. Also, one of their "signatures " dishes the cheese polenta was not available for the customers on Sunday brunch. They don't even have the Courtesy to refill your coffee, you must stand and refill yourself. Not only that, but if you are drinking something else besides coffee like juice or limonada you must make the line again to prepaid them. read more

My sister and I had soup and salad at the new Breeze on Solano. It was really very good. It was only their second day of being open. The soup was a homemade lentil (very good) and the salad had lots of good things in it, like almonds, beets, avocado, carrots and radishes. read more

Late lunch here on a cold, blustery Friday afternoon. We sat in our usual spot from the previous incarnation. My spouse ordered a hamburger, rare. I have a cold so ordered vegetable lentil soup. He was happy to get an actually rare burger. Something that doesn't often happen in restaurants when he asks for his meat rare. So that was a definite plus. I liked my soup, it was soothing, but with a cold I couldn't taste much The other soup offering of the day today was chili lime. The owner brought me a taste. I liked that so much I ordered a bowl to take home for dinner! (I realize this sounds like a weird compliment , but if you've ever had a cold you know the soothing nature of a bowl of well made soup.) It was savory and spicy enough for me to taste.
