    Cafe con leche
    Lucy V.

I brought my cousin here for the first time. She had a breakfast taco the yolk was runny and we forgot to tell them well done they gladly changed it to a well-done egg. I also had a coffee con Leche and a waffle and a toast with avocado and egg extra runny just the way I like it. My cousin love the way they made her coffee not too sweet. She said she will be back and great services. (Like always) it's a very relaxing place to go.

They're closed right now. I came to wash house near here. I was admiring the Valentine's Day decorations. I will have to come back when they're open. The coffee and food is very good. My favorite is their Lavender drinks. I want to try something new. I wonder what's new on the menu for this year.

Cute ambiance! I got the coquito iced coffee. It was super different and yummy! Highly recommend

Been a while since the last time we went to Brewja. Thought we'd stop in for a quick coffee break since we were in the area. Parking lot is pretty small and limited, but street parking is also available. When we arrived, they seemed busy behind the counter. We were the only ones in line with a few parties waiting for their orders on the side. Took a minute for anyone to acknowledge us. Took 10 min before we were able to order- Coquito Iced Coffee and Mazapan Latte. Then another 20 min to get our drinks. I enjoyed the flavors, but found them to be a little too sweet for me. Idk if it's typical to wait so long for drinks here, or if it was a one off experience, but it is something to consider if you're looking to be in and out quickly.

So I happened to stop by because I had an appt in the area. I decided to try one of their coffees and a breakfast burrito. Immediately obsessed even after driving an hour back home before I got to eat. It was so good that later that week my husband was in town for a haircut, that I made him go back and bring us back some food lol. Will definitely be back anytime I'm in the area and the hype is very real!

Such a cute and cozy spot! As soon as you walk in, the vibe feels warm and inviting. They even had a movie playing on a screen projector which made the atmosphere super relaxing! There are a good amount of seats to choose from as well and it didn't make it seem so crowded. The staff were very friendly too! I ordered a coffee that I didn't realize could only be made hot and when I asked about it, the barista was so generous and offered me another drink option without hesitation. I'd definitely recommend stopping by -- it's the perfect pick-me-up spot!

Great spot to grab and go! Small parking lot, but just enough further customers. A had a hot cafe con leche and enjoyed how it was an overwhelmingly sweet. Staff were in the midst of decorating for the holidays. Seem like a very family, friendly and oriented establishment :) There are a few spots for you to have a coffee day or work remotely. If all spots are taken, I still encourage you to grab and go as the prices are very affordable. Cheers!

I got an espresso. It was a medium roast with good crema, smooth texture and bold flavors. I tasted milk chocolate and nutty notes. A well executed shot. 4/5. More nuanced flavor or creamier texture would have made it even better.

Omg how cute is this spot? Busy on the road for work I wanted a quick pit-stop to grab a brew but figured if I was going to stop, let's make it a fun one. I've heard about Brewja for a few reasons over the last few months, but decided I wanted to try it personally for myself. What a sweet little surprise located in a busy & small strip. To note, circle the lot a few times and cars come and go. (Non-metered) What a menu! While a bit elevated price-wise from just a typical cup of joe at your local donut shop, I was into it and here for it. I noted a local radio DJ had a special coffee on the menu called the Cherry Cream Cold Brew..yum! Is cherry the new it-flavor this season? I almost ordered that one, but the amazing staff let me sample the Coquito Iced Coffee (Little Coconut), and I was sold. Other notable mentions: the Fresh Mint Cold Brew, Dulce de Leche Latte, and Mexican Mocha. Also yes, they have a non-sweet coffee menu too..but had to mention the good good! Really cool savory/bakery menu too. I ordered an egg/spinach empanada which they warmed (comes with a delicious Chimichurri Sauce). They also carry Tutuli Coyotas (so fun, look this up!) and other yummy breakfast/snacks. Also to note, this spot is visually and aesthetically a very cool vibe. They had a kiddo movie playing from a projector on one wall, and really just the place to-be if you're looking to open your laptop while on the road. If in San Lorenzo again, would love another visit.

Hot chick toast, iced matcha with almond milk, horchata iced coffee, steak empanada, chorizo breakfast burrito
    Isabel M.

We were given a warm welcome by the owner, and our order was taken and delivered to our table promptly. As a person who eats gluten free, I was delighted to learn they now have GLUTEN FREE TOAST! So I ordered the hot chick toast with gluten free bread, and asked if they can add bacon. It was no problem. I think next time, I would add an extra egg if possible. I had iced matcha with almond milk, which cooled me down when my food was spicy :) My husband got the chorizo burrito and steak empanada and iced horchata coffee, all of which he enjoyed. We have been coming here for years, even before they had a full food menu and before their renovations. It's always been a solid spot with delicious selections here. I'm proud to see how far Brewja has come.

I used to love coming to Brewja and was excited to stop by again, but my recent visit was a bit disappointing. I waited nearly 30 minutes for a pre-made empanada that they had actually forgotten about. When I asked, there was no apology--just a casual response as if it was still "warming up." The drinks were good, but the experience left me feeling a little brushed off. The music also felt out of place for the vibe--hearing Pitbull and Lady Gaga blasting at 10am was kind of strange. Hopefully that was just a one-off, because this used to be one of my favorite spots.

Returned because I love their horchata latte and the Dulce de leche cookies. I was impressed with the added taqueria menu but they raised the prices to $6.50 for 1 taco, same ingredients nothing more. I went to a Michelin star taqueria in Hayward that still charges $3 per taco.

    Ashley Z.

Recently went here and I had to change my review from 4 to 5 stars. I just realize this is the only place that has good/unique mexican style coffee. Had the horchata iced coffee (which was perfect amount of sweetness and flavor) and the steak empanadas. This is one of those spots when I'm around the San Lorenzo/Hayward, it's a must visit.

Ask the Community - Brewja Coffee

Are the gluten-free options celiac safe, or in a shared case with gluten items?

Hi Ruth, thank you for reaching out. We do offer a gluten free banana bread with walnuts. The bread is made in a mixed use kitchen where we do prepare other goods that contain gluten and is in the same case as our other pastries.

What are the hours? Came at 4 and they were closed already when Yelp and the door says they close at 5?

They are open til 5 daily except Saturday/Sunday and closed Monday. Open til like 2 Saturday & Sunday I think.

    Do they have milk alternatives?

Yes the last time I was there they had Oat Milk & Almond Milk, but no Soy Milk.

    Why is this place closed?

The staff was under quarantine since the owner had got COVID-19 I believe that she shared on social media.

    What's Brewja Coffee's phone number?

Brewja is attached to Gala Bakery, It might be the same phone number as Gala.

    What hours are they open?

Monday: closed Tuesday-Friday 7am-4pm Saturday 9am-4pm… Read more

Was meeting up with a friend from Berkeley and he found this spot in between the both of us. Pros and cons! + The coffee - holy shit. Got a cortado. And drank it without sugar it was so good. A touch of bitter (it's coffee - duh!) but so smooth, almost nutty but buttery at the same time. + Got a chicken salad sandwich. It came stacked HIGH with hints of sweetness and curry. Freshest produce. Honestly, I was hungry but could only eat half of it, it was so big. + Friend got a warmed cinnamon bun. Incredible. Yeasty, chewy almost crisp on the outside but pillowy soft on the inside. + Wide open space inside -- high ceilings, one big central area. Not tucked away spaces -- which might or might not match your preference. + Perfect amount of coffeehouse buzz. Music playing lowish in the background and lots of conversations. Just enough to quell my ADHD tendencies. * Honestly can't think of any negatives. Prices are a bit high but happy to pay it for such a quality experience. I think my cortado was decently priced -- maybe $6 or so? They gave me two ketchup packets and also a compostable bag for carrying the food. Food was really good, so I recommend giving it a try.

We came here for lunch on a weekday before noon and were glad to have beat the rush somewhat…read more Around noon, there were many office workers and other folks ordering food, over a dozen. So they do get really busy and it might be better to call in your order if you're in a rush since the ordered do seem to take over 10-15 minutes to complete. I ordered the falafel pita and my partner ordered the chicharron sandwich, which the owner said was his favorite sandwich. My partner said that the sandwich was one of the best he's had in a while and the spicy mayo it came with was pretty delicious. My falafel sandwich on the other hand was good, but I did get tired of eating it because there was not as much variety in the falafel pita as I would have liked. At times I felt like the falafel was dry, and since the sauce was in a cup, I had to spread it and wasn't super satisfied with it. The fries were fresh but the portions were a little small. We also ordered a bowl of lentil soup and a green smoothie. The green smoothie tasted as if there was no sugar added and had a lot of ginger in it, so it had heat to it. The lentil soup was tasty and came with bread, albeit a little lukewarm when we got it. Overall, we were happy with our dishes and want to come back to try the other dishes. There is only outdoor seating, but there are about 8 tables to sit at outdoors. The owner seems very gracious and proud of his establishment. He says that everything is made freshly there from scratch, including the sauces. They do get their bread from a local bakery. There is clearly a lot of care put in the food, and it is a great establishing. We will be adding it to our list of lunch spots.
