It was was even better than I imagined - one of those meals where after your first bite, you pause and say OMG to yourself. My wife had the Richard's Special. She selected regular cut bacon over thick cut, and also choose the cheesy hashbrowns as the potato option. I don't recall which bread she chose. She said it all tasted great, and had me taste the potatoes, but between the bacon & potatoes, it was on the greasier side (in case you are sensitive to that). I look forward to trying the Salmon Omelette, Beignets, Biscuits & Gravy and stuffed bagel for breakfast. Then several items from the lunch side.

It was fun and we got to try a lot of the menu! I would 100% recommend to anyone looking for a place to celebrate or just wanting good food!! Service: The servers routinely stopped by to bring our next course. Our main server was there at the perfect time to check in on how everything was tasting and getting our waters topped off. Overall everyone was also just friendly! Ambiance: While the atmosphere is on the more fancy side - there was still a causal essence to the place. A lot seating options for groups, couples wanting date night, people wanting just drinks, or those looking to stop in for a quick happy hour bite!

Mezzaluna is located in the downtown area of Fargo. So here's the summary: Parking: There is ample free street parking, which I'm definitely not used to having in LA. Entrance & Ambiance: It was a little tricky to find the entrance. You have to walk down a long hallway to get to the restaurant. The ambiance is very lively, dimly lit, spacious. Pricing: prices were affordable and what you would expect from a nice Italian restaurant Menu selection: good selection for meat eaters and vegetarians but sadly not for vegans/non-dairy eaters Service: our servers were great! All in all, it was a nice option and the sorbet was delicious! I know it's the Midwest so I can't expect a ton of vegan options; however, it would be nice to have more than 1 option.

We got a booth in the bar. The interior is very nice. Our server was friendly and did a decent job. The menu is a bit more upscale and thus pricier than most of the burger joints that appear to be the standard around here. I got the pastrami sandwich which was a different prep with a spicy cheese and horseradish sauce. I opted to have the pepper confit on the side which was a good choice for me. It was an excellent sandwich. My wife liked her Mediterranean bowl though she commented that she didn't know what made it Mediterranean. The salmon addition was good with a crispy crust. We were waiting by the host stand when the hostess came up, followed by who I assumed was the manager on duty, all in a huff. Instead of a basic, professional welcome, we were snapped at: "It's going to be about 20-30 minutes to seat you, we are understaffed and very busy!" No apologies, no "Hey, please understand we are understaffed at the moment, if you like, please grab a drink at the bar and we will get you seated ASAP." The bar area seemed to be the only open section, and that was half-full at best. As someone in the industry, I get staggering tables, but to be so b*tchy about it is unacceptable. With both a street fair and the Bison game happening that same day, management should have expected that level of business and staffed accordingly. It wasn't our fault they were understaffed, and taking that frustration out on guests is a terrible way to make an impression on out-of-towners or locals alike!

When things had finally stabilized we decided to take ourselves out and landed at Lucky 13's. This is my kinda joint. They're one of the few restaurants out there that does a Monte Cristo sammich and when it's paired with their custom L13 Tots? Epicurean delights abound. The only reason I'm giving the experience 4 stars (rather than 5) is because their checkout process is entirely too old school. And the pen I was given to sign the receipt had little-to-no ink left in it. I know. Seems petty. But when it takes so long to do the whole card-bill-process-return dance that asking for a better writing utensil seems like a huge effort? Yup.

The salmon dip was amazing. Absolutely the best thing that we had. The New York strip was prepared poorly. We asked for it medium to rare and it came very well done. We ended up just scraping that off because it felt like they just took it out of a can and put it on top. It didn't add anything to the dish. A server was great and the service at the table was amazing.
