Went into the place with an open mind,came out with broken dreams. they continue to have bison listed on the menu (not crossed off with sharpie or anything) even though my group was told they no longer have it,for my group of 4 when there was only 2 other people in the whole establishment it took 10 minutes to get just the drinks and even longer for just an appetizer. the waitress also told me that they had Pepsi wild cherry,what she gave me was a Pepsi with grenadine in it,while i don't mind drinking peps i with grenadine,i didn't like being lied to that it would actually be Pepsi while cherry.the ambience of the place was nice just the service was not even good. read more

Yikes. If you eat at Cowboy Jack's, either pay with cash, or check your bank statement thoroughly after-the-fact. This place is a complete mess. After a completely overwhelmed server screwed up my check BIG TIME (brought me two different checks with two different amounts--a 20-dollar difference) I checked my bank statement to find out they processed BOTH checks at first so instead of forty-some dollars, my check was over 100-dollars. Then they credited back one of them, but still charged me the wrong total (for the higher check, of course), and I had to spend 20 minutes on the phone with a manager while he went through a computer system and then the physical receipts to get credited my difference. This was for a lunch in the middle of a day with my wife, couple of drinks, nothing outlandish. I tell the story to a couple friends, they go down there a couple weekends later and THREE people in their party get screwed up checks on their order, and in correcting the error, one of my friends says "You did this to a buddy of mine not long ago" and the Cowboy Jack's guy tells him "Oh yeah, I remember that guy, he was a drunk asshole." They need some serious new management in this place. Unfortunately, the food was great, but I can't go back until this is fixed. read more

This place is one of the nicest gems I've ever had the pleasure of reviewing. For starters their happy hour specials are second to none, half off appetizers and $3 beers. Then the quality of food is awesome. As a southern man northern restaurants tend to disappoint me in terms of flavor, this is was not one of those restaurants. The Tater Tot Hot Dish took what my grandma made me as a child in Louisiana and gave it character. The wings I had (which came in a bucket of like 20 for $10) gave all the heat and flavor that you look for in buffalo wings without burning a hole in your mouth. The beer was a local brew and was enjoyable. Lastly the service was amazing and the staff was very friendly. (I didn't take any pictures because my phone was dying, so I apologize) read more

We walked in around 5:45 on a Wednesday afternoon. We waited until 5:55 until I had to go up to the bar and ask for menus. Right away. I thought this was kind of fishy because happy hour is until 6:00. It sure seemed like they were doing this on purpose so they can only service one drink, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I ordered a tap and an appetizer while the waitress said she could get us one ordering because it's 2 minutes until happy hour is over. Now I know it's red flag because she brought up happy hour and didn't tell us about any of the specials when coming to the table. We waited 25 minutes until somebody came back with no food in hand. Still, I gave them the benefit of the doubt, maybe they were busy or short staffed. The problem with this though is that when I went up to the bar, 2 of them immediately came over with menus. After I came back with no appetizer and asked me if I wanted another drink, I asked her for the tab because it has been 25 minutes and we haven't received any food yet or an order for our main meal. She happily said okay and turned around to close out our order without asking if anything was wrong. Another red flag, looks like she just wants us out of there. It's kind of sad because we tip good. About 5 minutes later the manager comes over and she offers to comp our $5 half off appetizer. She asked us if there's anything she can do to make our night better. She knows obviously we aren't going to ask for something crazy, and this gesture makes her seem like she's doing the good thing. We go ahead and order a burger and tacos as she says she would rush our order. She apologizes for the wait and comes up with an excuse that they have a different layout for servers and then adds on they're short staffed. We waited another 20 minutes and finally receive our order. I give the burger a 7.9/10 and my wife's tacos a 7.2/10. The atmosphere was ok, even though the table was dirty and the bathroom was not taken care of. My wife couldn't even use it because it was so dirty. I was wondering why she was standing outside the door when I got done using the restroom because I'm always done before her. Overall, I give this place a D for service, because even though it seemed like they tried to make it right, it seemed like they tried to do it in a way they could make the most money. They get a C - for atmosphere as things weren't cleaned off, and I'm giving I'm the benefit of the doubt because I'm believing they are short staffed, but really there's no excuse to have dirty tables or bathrooms. They get a C+ for food because even though the burger and appetizer was tasty, it's not something I couldn't do at home. I certainly won't be going back ever again unfortunately. It's a shame because I really wanted it to be as good as it looked. As a caveat, my parents said they had a similar experience which helps me to cement the idea that it wasn't a completely honest mistake that they lost our appetizer ticket. read more

Went here for lunch on a Saturday. Service was a little slow for a place that wasn't all that busy yet. The atmosphere here is great but the food left something to be desired. They have a large list of appetisers but nothing special. The rest of the menu was your A typical bar food with about 6 premium dinner entrees priced in the $18-$25 range. Witch is rather pricey for the rest of the menu. I had a party melt Witch was very good but for the price ($11) you would think it came with a side but unfortunately any sides (Fry's, tots ECT..) are another $2.99. in summation of your looking for bar food and a nice atmosphere this is worth a look just don't expect to blown away by great food. read more

Last week I went for lunch with a friend. Our server was Masey (hopefully I spelt her name right) but she was so awesome and was genuinely sweet and helpful. We had some drinks and wings. Why settle for the worst food or the worst service, when you can come here for both?! This place has always been spotty for service and quality, but this will be my last visit. In 12/13, 3 of us came for lunch. There was only 1 or 2 other tables, yet we weren't greeted as we waited at the door. We found a table and got greeted about 5 minutes later. We all ordered burgers. As I mentioned, it was not busy, but our food took about 25 minutes. 1 burger was basically raw and 1 was extremely overcooked and dry and everything was cold. They had curly fries instead of their lasso fries and didn't tell us that in advance. Only saw our server once and she didn't even ask how the food was, she probably knows it's bad! read more

I was there on July 8th at the Mall of America's restaurant. I am a handicapped woman in her late 60s with my 3 friends. We are not complainers at all as you might expect. Our initial waiter, Ceasar, was wonderful and polite in every way. The server that brought our food to the table yelled at me for ordering my meal from the childrens menu ( I have less that 25% of my esophagus left following throat cancer) I cannot possibly eat like a normal person any longer. He then berated me by giving me the lecture about how lucky I was not to have had him as my waiter and holding the plate away from me as he wasted time talking.and shaking his index finger at me! I said nothing. My party said nothing because #1 they could not hear with the background noises and they were not wearing their hearing aids. Anyway, after he slammed my plate down in front of me and turned around quickly, my table mate said "excuse me but we have no silverware". He stopped without looking back, and a couple minutes he came back with 4 rolls of silver which he threw onto out table without one word. When my first server came to check on us, I told him. He said he would tell the manager, but we could not wait to find out as we had to get to the airport. This terrible waiter was a small man, bald, 50's with glasses in case anyone might know him. He never said his name. When I got home to Florida, I emailed the restaurant and have yet to hear anything. I will not go back to any Cowboy Jacks ever. read more

Fabulous! Exactly what downtown Fargo needed. So many things we love about this place. Let's start with our servers, Tia, Taylor, and Dana, who took great care of us and everyone else around us. Any place can be cool and innovative but without fabulous employees it means nothing. Next, the food!!!! First time here, my husband enjoyed the Ruben. Very nice portion of flavorful meet, served hot, with hot tater tots! Yes, hot..not luke warm. We also had Spicy Breaded Cauliflower as an appetizer! Again, delicious, with great dipping sauce. Yes, food is important too, great menu options, even for vegetarians!!! Now, the atmosphere, LOVE! Spacious, two levels, two bars, two patios. Comfortable seating, outdoor fireplace, nice seating, swing chairs on the lower level patio. Thankful the service and food makes enjoying this beautiful space perfect, and worth my time and money.
