When things had finally stabilized we decided to take ourselves out and landed at Lucky 13's. This is my kinda joint. Pub atmosphere, perfect (free) popcorn, fantastic retro tuneage, and speedy, efficient service are a given. The food is next level nom nom. They're one of the few restaurants out there that does a Monte Cristo sammich and when it's paired with their custom L13 Tots? Epicurean delights abound. The only reason I'm giving the experience 4 stars (rather than 5) is because their checkout process is entirely too old school. And the pen I was given to sign the receipt had little-to-no ink left in it. I know. Seems petty. But when it takes so long to do the whole card-bill-process-return dance that asking for a better writing utensil seems like a huge effort? Yup.

We were seated promptly and got our complimentary popcorn per usual. I ordered the taco salad bowl with chicken and my husband had a burger. Our server was delightful. Even more lucky, I pulled a $600 winner and we also got a few $5 ones bringing our jackpot to $610!!! What a lovely day and experience. Thank you!!

We got a booth in the bar. The interior is very nice. Our server was friendly and did a decent job. The menu is a bit more upscale and thus pricier than most of the burger joints that appear to be the standard around here. I got the pastrami sandwich which was a different prep with a spicy cheese and horseradish sauce. I opted to have the pepper confit on the side which was a good choice for me. It was an excellent sandwich. My wife liked her Mediterranean bowl though she commented that she didn't know what made it Mediterranean. The salmon addition was good with a crispy crust. We had a nice meal.

Back to business. This place is a sports bar, it's lively, it has a gazillion tv's, has some arcade machines (just a few) and a very interesting machine where you can win an autographed boxing glove signed by Mike Tyson. I'll pass on that one. We sat in the bar and was waited on promptly. The menus are printed on wood and they look shellacked. I mean, it's a cool touch. We opted for the chips n' dip trio, chicken wings and mac and cheese. All of it was good. The portion of the chips and dip trio was big. All 3 of us shared this and it was definitely enough for all of us. The wings and the mac n cheese was good. Service was great, it was busy but the waitress checked on us a few times. I had a few bud lites, my husband had something like a guiness and my son had a few drinks himself. I like that there are areas for kids because in the bar area, people were dropping the f bomb like crazy. I love sports bar vibes, it's social, it's friendly and I love watching sports. This place is fun and the food is good. Bottom line, would I go back. Heck yea and bring some friends to hang out. Good times.

I'm extending my love of visiting food places (and other places also but you know food is it) to another state. FYI, Washington state, you were so legit with food places. Ok, I've been hearing about this place called Freddy's since we got here. It's been around for awhile and is extremely welcome known and popular. They serve a variety of goods, including great choices for burgers, chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, chili cheese, chicken tenders and steakburgers. There's too many other things to list but one of the main items that is super popular is the frozen custard. The hamburgers are smashed down and thinned out, so to speak, which is exactly how I like my burgers. You order at the counter, pay then you're given a number like most places. At the counter are packets of sauces for your fries or for whatever you want to put this stuff on. There are so many varieties, it's nice to have options. I ordered the California style double combo. I am an aficionado of the double double from In 'n Out, so I am always skeptical when I see something sort along the line of this burger. Other's in my party had the same burger, the chicken sandwich and a hotdog for my granddaughter. You can choose fries, tots, cheese curds, onion rings or applesauce as your side. We didn't have to wait long and our number was called. Now I've eaten my share of burgers, it's one of my favorite foods. This burger didn't disappoint. Smashed patty, onion, thousand lettuce, tomato and cheese. So good. I mean honestly just a good burger. I'm half and half on the fries. Now you've heard of shoestring fries right? These are seriously thin shoestring fries, I mean like you can gather a huge handful at one time, dip them and just go to town. And I did...Are shoestrings my favorite, no but these were good. My granddaughter had the custard. I don't know the difference between custard and regular ice cream and well, it doesn't matter. She had the chocolate custard and it was really good, I snuck a taste. Kids get this in their meals, how great is that? So would I come back here again. Yes indeed, there are so many other things to try and I look forward to that. To me, the inside is kind of old school vibe. You know like the whole red and white theme Grease (you know the movie?) hangout kind of place. I like it. So if you haven't tried this place, please do so. It's just good food.
