My favorite restaurant in the area, I grew up here and come here often on birthdays, date nights, & celebrations. 10/10 recommend

In Fargo for an overnight and Mezzaluna came highly recommended! For the most part it lived up to the hype. Ambiance was great, romantic and fun. The waitress did a wonderful job and was friendly to talk to. We had the following things: seared sea scallops - scallops were VERY tender and delicious. The colors on the plate were vibrant and incredible. My husband loved the romesco sauce - I wasn't as much of a fan. shrimp and grits - WOW. Would 100% go back for this. The grits were seasoned extremely well, shrimp was tender. Very flavorful dish. wagyu zabuton - YUM. Cooked perfectly. The crust on the steak was great and so tender. Sauce was wonderful and flavorful. Will definitely get this again. salmon - This was the server's recommendation and unfortunately the sauce was the exact same as the scallops, which made it a bit redundant. This was the most disappointing dish. The parsnips were overcooked and limp. roasted beets - These came cold and were delicious. There were a LOT of beets. Way too many for 2 people, but this would be a great dish to share with others. earl grey panna cotta - YUM. I don't know how they get the earl grey flavor but it was perfect. I thought there was a bit too much whipped cream and I would have loved a citrus element! Would definitely go back and would recommend it as a very fancy date in Fargo!

Weird pasty bread, butter was okay

I went on New Years Eve for their special 7 course menu. It's one star and the main two reasons are: 1) The "butter poached lobster" was mushy. This means it was not fresh and going bad 2) "Wagyu Zabuton" was absolutely not Wagyu. It was as chewy as hanger steak I could go into more detail but it was such an embarrassing way to spend NYE and over $300 (I ordered scallops and baked brie a la carte as well) and enough of my time and money has already been wasted. Will not ever dine here again, and no amount of ambiance or good service (which neither were great or worthy of mention regardless) could make up for having soggy food and falsely advertising.

Incredible dinner at Mezzaluna tonight. Our hipster server was beyond awesome - I wish I could remember his name! We did the four course tasting menu. Our favorite dishes were the mushroom second course and the flourless chocolate cake dessert. We'd definitely come back here if we visit Fargo again!

Top notch restaurant in the Fargo/Moorhead area. Continental menu with imagination. If you want a special treat, sit at the bar and order your drinks and dinner. You'll be located in the center of the room with some of the best service offered anywhere. A restaurant that still takes great pride in staff training and service.

The ambiance was excellent, I love their crystal chandelier. We started with their scallops, which were insane. This is a MUST ORDER appetizer. So delicious! We had the wagyu denver steak. The potato puree it came with was amazing. The flavor of the wagyu steak was excellent but the meat was a little tough, which was disappointing. For dessert we had the flourless chocolate cake and the matcha-lemongrass creme brulee. Both were delicious! I love matcha and creme brulee so I was the combination made me very pleased. I still dream about it.

I'm in town for a conference with my family, and we'd love to try this restaurant. Would a very well-behaved 2-year-old and 4-year-old be welcome here? Or is this the kind of place where the sight of children would ruin everyone's night?

Very nice restaurant! I wouldn't bring kids

Can teenage kids eat at Mezzaluna or is it 21 and older only?

Yes, kids may eat at Mezzaluna. Keep in mind that they do not have a menu for kids.

The menu has the usual pub fare - wings, burgers, salads, and sandwiches. But on Saturdays and Sundays from 9-1, the menu expands to things like omelets, hash, Benedicts and breakfast sandwiches. So, when our Friday night hotel bartender recommended Lucky's for breakfast, well, we knew where we'd be headed. The breakfast service we encountered on Saturday was extraordinary, so hats off to our server Beth. Our party of ten walked in when breakfast opened, and she quickly set up a few long tables for our group. Oh, and she set out two coloring activities and crayons for the two young guests in our group. Our breakfast started with complimentary bowls of popcorn and we saw some very interesting eye openers on the menu, like a Breakfast Punch (with Rum, orange and pineapple juice, strawberry purée, and ginger ale), a Lucky's Blueberry Pancake Shooter (with Stoli Blueberry vodka, Butterscotch, Orange Bacardi, and a slice of bacon) and a Keoki Coffee (with Kahlua, Baileys Irish Cream, coffee and whipped cream). We passed on these alcoholic temptations; Beth took our orders flawlessly and the food started rolling out of the kitchen in no time. We started off with a order of Beignets for the table ($9.99) - "Deep-fried beignets made with croissant dough, topped with powdered sugar & a side of strawberry jam. I tried one and it was very good -piping hot, light as a feather, but surprisingly not greasy. My wife ordered a Ham and Cheese Omelet ($13.99 served with her choice of toast and a side of fresh fruit, home fries or cheesy baked hash browns. It was a generous portion and the fruit cup she ordered was fresh and tasty. My Cajun Hash ($15.49 with Andouille disks, shredded chicken, two big shrimp, peppers, onions, cheesy hash, & scrambled eggs) was one of the best breakfasts I've had all year. It was a gigantic portion, and I was more than full with half of it. Beth was automatic with the coffee refills, was very sweet dealing with the two children in our party and gladly gave our couples separate checks. One very cool thing we saw was a "Treasure chest" full of children's toys, coloring books, and activities as freebies for the little darlings that visit. These weren't junky dollar store toys, but some nice stuff. We could not have been happier with our breakfast at Lucky's 13.

Smoke & Iron is new to West Fargo. So why does it feel like I've been here before?…read moreThat's the challenge with this style of restaurant -- how do you rise above the familiar? Smoke & Iron certainly tries. The menu is creative, the cocktails are eye-catching (including a smoked Old Fashioned worth ordering for the spectacle alone), and the décor is polished and modern. Still, the overall experience feels a bit too familiar. It's definitely a step above an Applebee's, but it lands somewhere in that upscale-yet-safe middle of the American dining scene. For all its ambition and investment -- clearly millions poured into design, staffing, and concept -- it stops just short of being truly remarkable. Our group of eleven was lively, and our server, Kea, handled the crowd with poise and good humor. After a few well-made cocktails, dinner arrived. We sampled dishes like the Beef Tenderloin, Honey Smoked Salmon, and New York Strip Oscar. Across the table, the consensus was the same: everything was good -- attractively plated, properly cooked (mostly hot), and seasoned well. I had the New York Strip Oscar myself. It arrived warm, not hot -- and as I worked my way through it, my impressions began to settle. The steak was fine, the flavors pleasant, but there was no spark, no "wow." Others at the table echoed that feeling: solid, but not memorable. In the end, Smoke & Iron feels like a restaurant earnestly reaching for distinction but not quite grasping it. It's better than most, certainly closer to the top than the bottom, yet still caught in that crowded middle -- among all the other places trying hard to be "the next big thing." Would I tell you not to go? Not at all. It's worth a visit. Just go with measured expectations. I genuinely hope Smoke & Iron finds its footing and breaks free from the pack -- because it's clear they're aiming for more.
