Brent C. Lay, DDS - General Dentistry Near Me - Los Gatos, California

For myself, I have teeth that need lots of special care and always want to be conservative and preserve my natural teeth as much as possible. After a month, I have been more than pleased with the excellent dental care by Dr. Lay and his talented staff. From my first phone call with Sabrina to make my appointments to having several visits to get my teeth restored, it's been fantastic! The detail Dr. Lay provided to me on before and after is well beyond anything I've had in the past. I love that he doesn't just rely on xrays, but also does a thorough intraoral camera review taking photos. The staff and dental assistant Delilah were experienced, efficient and pleasant on every visit. The care, knowledge and advice during my teeth cleaning with Christi made a big difference on how I take care of my teeth. Local as well It's not often to enjoy going to the dentist. Overall, for me, it was a great choice to go to Dr. Brent Lay's office for taking care of my teeth and the only thing is I wish I had gone sooner. read more

Flexible scheduling, courteous explanation of procedures, and exceptional expertise. Respectful communication and thorough understanding of patient needs; actually, anticipates client need to understand treatment options . Full disclosure of available options to meet individual criteria. Actually, although secure from topical/numbing agent, I left this cordial office with one plan: return for future care. read more

Been a customer for many years. Would recommend him and his staff. Very comfortable environment.

Both my husband and I have been seeing Dr. Lay for over a quarter of a century. We now reside part time in another state so I was particularly delighted when I got back into town in mid December and found out they had time to fit me in for a crown issue I discovered over the summer. His wonderful staff also went the extra mile to make sure I got to use my remaining annual benefits before they expired. With their help and expertise my early morning appointment for evaluation progressed to a root canal with a very talented and equally pleasant endodontic treatment facility that very same afternoon! Dr. Lay and his staff are truly one of the Santa Cruz Mountains hidden gems! read more

I'm grateful for Dr Lay's professional and competent treatment to resolve these issues. He uses the latest technology to solve my problems. He has a friendly office and it is well-equipped to maintain a super high standard in cleanliness and safety. His staff is friendly and helpful-they are able to insurance issues too. Dr. Lay was absolutely the best dentist I've ever seen. His staff is also so welcoming and informative, Sabrina the office manager is so organized & kind, she will answer all your questions. The Dr. takes his time to get to know you and your wellness in the preliminary appointment and makes you feel comfortable with his knowledge. Also, my two year old warmed up to him immediately & he was so patient with her visit. 10/10 experience & who could beat the drive there! read more

You will be well taken care of at Dr. Lay's practice, it is a no stress environment. My recent appointment for x-rays and cleaning was pretty close to being at a spa with a warm pillow for comfort while managing dental health. I haven't seen Dr Lay for a few years but I wanted to leave a review just because he was such a positive experience in my life. I hadn't seen a dentist for years and years when I first met him 22 years ago when I laid down in the chair it was surreal. I don't know if you've ever experienced it almost like being in shock wanting to get away but he gave me time , a little talking. He was only worried about me , not worried about getting started. Then I felt okay. Over the years he saved a bunch of teeth . Led me through deep cleaning, very seldom do my gums bleed. He's an incredible dentist and an incredible guy You'll feel you went to the right place. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Lay's for over ten years and I can say without hesitation that he and his team have consistently provided the highest quality, most thorough dental care I've ever had. They always do everything with my best interest and personal desires in mind, and really make me feel like we're partners in taking care of my teeth. Every procedure and treatment is clearly explained, the choices in care are always mine, and I leave after each appointment feeling like I'm going to have great teeth my whole life. In addition to being outstanding practitioners, they're warm, caring people that make an effort to get to know me and help me feel comfortable (and trust me, I've had dentists who were the exact opposite of that, to the point where for many years I stopped going to a dentist altogether). read more

I like going Dr. Lay he listen to you if you have problems with your teeth and he try's to fix the problem you have thanks Dr Lay

New patient of Dr. Lay's. Setting up the appointment was fast and easy. Staff was professional, and had well-thought out COVID precautions in place. I felt completely safe. Dr. Lay was personable, easy to talk to, and he welcomed my questions. The hygienist was gentle and very thorough. Together, they developed and easy plan to for me improve my dental health. I've found a dentist for the long-run. I'm very happy with his services. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Lay's practice from Kindergarten to present day, 20 years of my lifetime. He has done everything for me from referring me to my orthodontist, to fixing my chipped tooth, and all the in-between with regards to fillings and bi-yearly check-ups. Dr. Lay has always put my comfort and health before anything else, which is great considering I am NOT a star student when it comes to my teeth. The dental assistants are very friendly, and their office is comfortable and quiet. They answer all your questions in a professional manner, and I have never had issues with my insurance or billing. Their equipment is CLEAN, up-to-date and very efficient to help your appointment go a little faster. Going to the dentist is never a fun task to do, let's be honest. But when you're up in the beautiful Santa Cruz Mountains and have a wonderful staff, it makes the trip a little easier. Thank you Dr. Lay for providing me with the best dental care in the area for the past two decades! read more

Dr. Lay has been our dentist for 20+ years because we believe he is the best. Though we've moved about 20 miles away, we choose to continue with his services. Dr. Lay is always extremely professional and compassionate, as is his staff. He is very informative and provides us all options when work is required. He makes the time to listen, answer all of our questions and see that we are comfortable with the planned procedures. Each procedure and visit is a positive one, and we believe we get the highest quality dental care. read more

We have been going to Dr. Lay for many years. His dental knowledge and skills are excellent. His support staff is also highly competent. I had an interesting experience once with one of the hygienist in the office. She told me she had worked for other dentists who told her to try to up-sell the patients on additional services and treatments and that Dr Lay does not do this. Dr. Lay's office will only recommend services that are necessary, reasonable and prudent. read more

Our family has been seeing Dr. Lay since 1994 with only great dental experiences. I brief him on the latest news of our 3 boys who graduated from our local schools and moved on to their lives elsewhere. He keeps his practice modern and up-to-date and I feel completely safe with his staff's professionalism. We feel fortunate to have such a skilled dentist right there in the Santa Cruz Mountains. read more

His current Covid-19 safety procedures are quite extensive. Each room had an air purifier, all the staff were masked and behind glass. I even had to rinse my mouth with special mouthwash before he began. I was surprised to be given gloves at the door, but it made sense because it totally reminded me to not be touching my face. 5 stars for safety standards. read more

Truly pain free, stress free dentistry. Dr. Lay focuses on the needs of the patient, and uses the very latest in technology (decades ahead of my last dentist) to deliver fantastic care. His staff are caring and have great senses of humor, which is important to me. Easy to get an appointment. Great location for mountain residents. And I love how they designed a plan for my aging fillings that factored in my insurance plan to maximize coverage but not to go over my annual coverage limit. Highly recommend. Thanks Dr. Lay! read more

Not sure why this listing doesn't come up when doing a search for "dentist" in Los Gatos... Go see him, you won't be disappointed. He and his staff are professional and nice; they genuinely care for their patients. I have had two replacement fillings and one crown done so far. It's that middle-aged thing where all of your childhood toothwork starts to go and needs to be replaced or fixed. The office couldn't be in a more relaxing environment among redwood trees. Perfect for those who live on the mountain. I always stop at the Summit Store either for coffee or lunch along the way. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Lay's since he first opened his practice, and I cannot even imagine going to anyone else. His knowledge and attention to detail is beyond compare, and he has had an uncanny ability to always find the best and nicest support staff throughout the more than 35 years I have been going to him. read more

Dr. Brent Lay is a wonderful new find in my neighborhood. I live very close and chose him for that reason. What a great pleasure to discover in my 56 years of dentistry, he's my favorite. Not only because of his gentle professionalism, but his staff. In particular, his hygienist, Christi! She's extremely knowledgeable (more so than you would expect a hygienist to be) but she does a thorough job and genuinely cares about your oral health. She gave me so many tips and information on how to deal with my specific care. Truly unusual and appreciated. I absolutely recommend this office, even if you live in downtown LG, it's worth the trip up Summit! read more

Dr. Brent Lay has served our family for the 12 years in which we have lived in the Santa Cruz Mountains. During that time, he has helped one or all of us to deal with traumatic injury to teeth, normal childhood tooth problems, root canals, crowns, and the oh-so-dreaded loss of teeth. With all of these problems, as well as in matters of routine dental health maintenance, he has been professional, personable, sensitive to feelings, and dedicated to providing us with the best range of options and superior care. One of the things that sets Dr. Lay apart from other dentists we have visited over the years is his interest in educating us so that we can make informed decisions about what to do when dental problems arise. Educating us as patients starts with staying well-versed in the field himself, and to this end, for many years he participated in monthly get-togethers with other dentists, allowing him to stay abreast of new developments in the field. In his practice, when treatment decisions must be made, he is generous with his time, filling us in on the pros and cons of different choices, and never making us feel that he has to hurry on to the next patient. During procedures, he is meticulous in attending to matters of comfort. The work always looks great, and he works hard to get the "bite" right when tooth alignment changes. The net effect of all this is that we consistently feel good about the choices we have made. And the dentistry itself is beautiful! He has a natural, easy rapport with children, showing a humor and gentleness that frightened children need to stay calm. Every spring he offers support and help with the local school's Jog-a-Thon. Mountain children get to see him as more than the dentist, so that when and if the drill appears, it is not as bad. It's hard not to like him. His support staff is excellent. At the front desk, matters of finances are dealt with courteously, and insurance issues are clarified quickly and correctly, as needed. The women who work in this office all understand their jobs, do them well, and seem to enjoy each other. They provide a perfect complement to the services of the dentist we are most fortunate to have in our mountain community. read more

This dentist is a Crook! I was a patient there for years but I paid every visit and always had a bill for something else being sent to me. He filled a cavity and left a sharp part on my tooth which continued to cut my tongue every time I ate or talked. I went to have it fixed and was nickel and dimed for everything to fix the problem that they caused. I should not have been held responsible. DO NOT MISS OR CANCEL YOUR APPOINTMENT!!!!!!! There is a $100 cancellation fee for an appointment. so nothing better come up even 2 days before your appointment because you will be $100 poorer. It doesn't matter how compelling your reason, you will owe this money if you cancel giving any less than 48 hours notice!!!! read more
