They were professional, kind and went out of their way to help me with an issue I was having.

I had a tooth pulled and a couple of cavities filled by Dr. Shyba. The process was unnecessarily painful. The dentist I have now (Five Gables on Mission) is incredibly gentle and numbs my mouth with gel before inserting the needle that numbers the gums, making the experience completely painless. In contrast, the work done by Shyba felt so harsh and rough, and when he pulled my tooth, it felt like a pair of construction pliers trying to rip a tooth out. It took about 45mins to pull one tooth. I also developed a pretty nasty infection. My new dentist tells me it is a protocol to prescribe antibiotics even before a tooth removal to ensure one does not have a chance to fester. I was never prescribed antibiotics by Dr.Shyba. I noticed an extreme amount of pain and a foul smell, sent photos, and went into the office to have Shyba look at it. I also have a very high pain tolerance, so when I think something hurts, it's incredibly alarming. He brushed me off and said it was normal. It wasn't until the infection smelled like a rotting carcass that I was finally taken seriously in a checkup on my tooth removal. He didn't apologize for how long it took to take me seriously. Well, I'm not ripping the dentists (much at all), but staff and office experience was "horrendous", and their business practices disappointing. OK, not that bad, but I was quoted for an implant but later we found they made a mistake (really two) and it was a LOT more than was quoted, and then as the procedure progressed, another mistaken agreement was made, the a final 3'rd procedure which was in 2 parts where they made me pay for everything up front which is weird for me with delays. Then the crown machine went down and another delay (after I already paid) Again, the dentists are up to stuff, but the staff or whatever it is was real disappointing at first although I'm over it. To their credit they offered a do over which is very generous, but I'll live with being slightly dissatisfied. This implant was probably a rare multiple missteps "stuff happens", but it was not what I expected. read more

Wow, I could not be happier with my experience at Soquel Dental Office. Not only did they do amazing work on my broken tooth, but the office vibe is very welcoming. People actually seem to enjoy their work here! My tooth was tricky to match because the top row is a little crooked and I didn't want to do Invisalign. Eva assured me they would still make it look great and took the time to help me pick out a whitening system that would realistically work with my lifestyle. Then Dr. Shyba made me 3 separate crowns until we found a perfect match that blended in. During that time I had a temporary crown and it fell off on the weekend. But Dr. Shyba called me directly from the emergency line and Bonnie met me at the office to help reattach it. Everyone helping us knew that my tooth was broken since I was kid and they seemed genuinely happy for me. I felt very well taken care of - and just look at my beautiful new smile! The staff here are all so friendly, polite and very welcoming. They make you feel at ease. This has been the best overall experience I've had in all my years going to the dentist. I was nervous about the work that needed to be done on my tooth/cavity. The Dentist assured me that I wouldn't feel any pain and also one of the staff that's had work done here. They where right I only felt the little pinch to numb the area and nothing else. The dentist has gentle hands. I couldn't have asked for a better place to go for my oral health. Dr. Shyba and his team are miracle workers! I had braces for 4 years from 4th-8th grade. Of course I was still a kid so I definitely didn't have the discipline to wear those retainers. I started to notice my teeth shift in high school, then through my 20s and finally in my 30s my teeth were so far off from my pre-teen years. Granted, even after all of the years with braces, the ortho was never really able to get my top row of teeth fully straight. Fast forward to 33 year old me and I now have teeth that are better than when I had braces! Dr. Shyba and his team go above and beyond to research complex Invisalign cases (which mine was) in order to provide all possible options. I just love this dental office. I've been a patient for years; back when Dr. Mann was there and now with the new docs.... I have always felt that I was literally in the best possible hands. Everyone is respectful, efficient, kind, available for weekend emergencies. The hygienists are wonderful, the office staff is so accommodating for appointments and rescheduling whenever needed. I found out that Dr Shyba is quite the artist! In place of filing off my 2 front teeth du to chipping, he gave me fillings which looked better that they ever did. I also ended up getting a tiny night guard for that area only in order to protect my investment. It's wonderful to have a dentist that can see what's really important to you. I had a very good experience with Dr. Meyer who works with Dr. Mann. He was very nice and professional as well as funny. Dr. Meyer talked as he was repairing my teeth and before I knew it, he was done. He informed me at every step as to what he was doing and it really made me feel comfortable. I had a cracked tooth and went to the office in May, costing $500. (Dr Mann was not available.) Evidently the job didn't work, as the tooth cracked again, involving a root canal and a new crown. This cost $2160. I feel okay with the professionalism of the second visit, but I'm not sure it shouldn't have been taken care of properly the first. I'm retired on a small fixed income where Medicare doesn't cover dental work; and an unplanned outlay costing over $2600 really hurts my ability to get by. read more

I spent over 5 hours total with them for the two procedures.
