The receptionist is rude and argumentative. I was dropping off a rent check for my business next door when I had passed by. I was excited to inquire about services. The front desk person abruptly interrupted me before finishing my sentence and asked me to put a mask on. I have been into medical facilities which don't require them, and I will absolutely wear one when asked. This is a dental office where I am planning on 1) shoveling out a lot of money for Aesthetic Dentistry. 2) I won't be masked during procedures or exams. So you couldn't wait for me to finish my sentence before you snobbishly insist I put on a mask. Nope. Maybe before presuming people are unmasked just to irritate you, as that's how the front desk person behaved, maybe just assume it was an honest oversight and show some kindness and gratitude, that your business just had a walk in for Aesthetic dentistry. By the way, I WAS interested in restoring two fillings for composite resin, and veneers. So, your loss. For me to write a bad review it takes a lot. I literally walked out and wrote this immediately, that's how far poor customer service goes. read more

Been going to Dr Carlton for years. Dual insured for both me and my wife. Now I get a bill telling me I am 90 days past due and being referred to a collection agency?? No calls nothing to announce this before this letter. I'll pay it in person tomorrow. 10+ years dual insured never an issue until now and a slap in the face letter. I recently transitioned my dentistry from San Jose to a local dentist. I'm tired of driving over the hill for dental work. My choice, after much research was Michael Carlton in Capitola, and I am so very happy with my choice! So far, I have had to visit Dr. Carlton 4 times, and I have been impressed with both Dr. Carlton and his team. I, unfortunately, found myself in an urgent situation where I needed a root canal. The issue quickly spiraled out of control pain-wise. But Dr. Carlton was there to give me expert advice while I worked with the endodontist to get the root canal done. Dr. Carlton and his team deftly maneuvered the appointment calendar to proactively get me into his office as soon as possible to prep my tooth for a crown after the root canal was completed. Then when the lab finished my crown early, they called me in almost a week early to install the crown so I could get on with my life pain-free. Their timing is amazing! Dr. Carlton is a very caring and kind professional. He never rushed me through anything and genuinely cares about the patients he works on. His staff is also an excellent team of professionals, including Jennifer and Tara at the front desk, and also his dental assistant. I Have a severe dentist phobia and they made me feel so comfortable and took care of my tooth that was giving me severe painful weeks that day !!!! He fit me into his schedule with kindness and love . I will be returning to Have him come up with a plan for future work that is needed since I have gone without going to a dentist for some time because of my phobia. Absolutely love Dr. Carlton! He is so personable, warm and friendly... always checks in with you to make sure you're comfortable and he's very fast so you don't have your mouth open for long periods of time - (hard on your jaw). But I really can't say enough about the office staff - they are extremely professional and over the top friendly... always doing their best to help you out with insurance payments etc. Highly recommend! read more

I went to Dr. Carlton's office yesterday and walked into a shouting match between a man and the two women at the front. This man was awful to them , yelling to them and insisting on his way. I was so uncomfortable for myself and fearful for the person I had given a ride to. I don't understand why this dentist didn't come out to tell this man to leave. No one needs business that bad. People who come to see the dentist are scared already. read more

DDS.Carlton is the only dentist I trust. Growing up I had terrible experiences with dentists that resulted in many trips back to the dentist to fix problems. I have been going to see Dr.Carlton for 10+ years now. Also I recently moved to la and needed to get my teeth cleaned but didn't have time to go back to sc. I found a dentist that I heard was good so I made an appt. after my appt they said that I had 3 cavities and a few other things. So I called Dr.Carltons office to see if I could send them my x-ray for Dr.Carlton to look over because I knew he would tell me what was really going on. Dr.Carlton called me and I asked if he could get me in while I was in town (sc) because if I needed cavities filled I only wanted him to do it because of my past experience with other dentists. Sure enough when I was in town dr.carlton looked at my teeth and I barely had one cavity. Because of other people's recommendations I went to see Dr Carlton. I had not seen a dentist for years due to finances. He was most kind. Today, due to necessity I had a molar extracted. I can not say enough kind words for his sensitivity to my pain, his skill and work he did. In addition the front desk and his tech aids were most kind and eased my fears and my pain. This Dentist took me in the same day I called due to severe tooth pain. I do not live in the area so I am not a regular patient. He was able to perform a root canal the same day and it was nearly pain free aside from the pain I already had. Great dentist and fun staff. I highly recommend!!! read more

Doctor Carlton is a fantastic dentist. He explains everything in detail and makes you feel great as a patient. The down side: The front office staff had a few transitions while I was a patient. I had a procedure done that required $100 cash out of pocket. I was told my insurance did not cover it. I was sent a bill for the $100 while I was in Kentucky attending my dads funeral. I called his office and told the front office staff I was in Kentucky taking care of some loose ends with my dads estate and I would pay the $100 within 2 weeks when I returned. The front office staff said that would be fine! When I returned home to Soquel I got a notice in the mail from a credit collector for $100. I called Doctor Carltons office and the staff told me they decided to turn it over to collections. I was shocked considering I never had an issue with them financially before. I even reminded them about my call to them from Kentucky telling them I would take care of it as soon as I returned and they said it was totally fine and not to worry. They simply didn't seem to care. They said your account is now ONLY A CASH basis account! I said what about the telephone agreement to pay when I returned from my dads funeral? They said the decision was made by Doctor Carlton. I was actually stunned because he seems like a reasonable guy. Anyways, great dentist,horrible office staff with big turnover. 2 stars. Oh, and yes I paid the bill collector they turned me over to immediately. I called the staff and told them I did, but they still said I am cash only account now. Absolutely NO flexibility with this dentist office! read more
