My husband lost a crown while flossing last week. The next day was Thursday before July 4th weekend and dental help was hard to find! We needed a dentist due to insurance changes. All of them are so friendly and kind that we trust only this dental office in Ca. four years ago, we moved to another city hours drive away, but still drove back to them to fix my denture or extract my tooth, because of trust. A few days ago, I had a tooth dropped from my denture that they made for me four and a half years ago, I made an appointment with Dr. Kuratomi on Thursday (yesterday, Mar.30) to fix it. This is the third tooth that dropped from the denture. I never complained about any troubles or questioned the quality, because I trusted them and I knew they could fix it quickly. But, this time, I felt so disappointed. Yesterday, around 11 am, I was so happy to see my denture fixed, even though I could not use it at once because of some strange odor which made me sick. I remember last time I could use it at once after fixed, no odor at all. I trusted them very much, so I thought I could soak it with denture cleaner for hours and then wash it up, the odor should be gone. But I was wrong, the odor was still the same yesterday evening. I could only eat some porridge without denture. I texted them, and got answered: No problem, you can try soaking in mouthwash, but no matter what you do, it will go away by itself." I thanked them and soaked it in mouthwash overnight. But this morning I found the odor was still the same, as soon as I put the denture in my mouth, the odor made me vomit. I texted them again and asked them how long the odor would go away. No answer any longer! We drove hours and paid $155, but I cannot use my denture now, whether the glue that they used is toxic or not, it makes me feel sick and vomit. I give them 3 stars, because I want to give 5 stars for their previous services, and one star for this time. read more

Today was my first visit and it was fantastic. Everyone was so kind and helpful. They took full X-rays and gum measurements. Gave me a great eval and then I went over to a dental hygienist for a cleaning. She too did a great job, gave me tips and tools to better clean at my gum line and did a great cleaning. They also are very Covid conscious and have safety measures in place to ensure a healthy environment for both clients and staff. I'm definitely coming back. read more

From my first call, the customer service I received from the office was amazing! Went in for an exam and COVID protocols were in full force and effect--mask required to enter, temp taken, hands sanitized, and questioned on symptoms. All staff wore masks, shields, and gloves. All of the staff were super friendly and gave a thorough explanation of what was happening next. The dentist did a thorough first exam, was very gentle, and checked with me as to how I was doing as she went. When it was time to head out, Rosie set my next appointments and explained what my insurance would cover. I was also given a swag bag for being a new patient. I changed to this dental office 2 years ago after a less than impressive experience at my Capitola dentist. I wish I would have made the change years earlier. Everyone in this office is very professional and extremely competent. I have found other dentists to be quick to suggest unneeded procedures, whereas Dr Kuratomi's office is straightforward and quick to give you all the facts, pluses, minus', etc. also they don't try to sell you teeth whitening or other things to "improve my smile" which I appreciate. read more

Great dental practice! Dr.Kuratomi's staff is punctual, efficient, and genuinely concerned for the patient. I told the hygienist that I have sensitive gums. She suggested a mouthwash that numbed me enough to make me comfortable while having my teeth cleaned. We just lucked out since we needed a dentist nearby for a tooth issue shortly after moving here! You are treated like royalty as they greet you warmly upon arrival, the office is newly remodeled and lovely! Upon leaving the office they always make sure you have your 'mouth tools' and flowers! if you have your appointment toward the end of the day, you may luck out and get to take an entire bouquet home! :-) All my treatment whether it is a filling, cleaning, xray, etc... have been pain free! This is the fourth dental office I have been to in Santa Cruz. I was initially attracted because of the evening hours, but I like it more each time I visit. The secretarial staff is accommodating and up-front with costs and the dentists and hygienists very skilled. But this past week I went to Kuratomi's office to get set up for whitening, and I think they officially won me over by letting me save (maybe $200?) by agreeing to make the whitening tray from the molds I already had.
