Oh. My. Gahhhhhd. I'm in love.
So my husband and i go out a lot, but mostly to cheap, hole-in-the-wall spots. We ended up with a little more money than anticipated this month, so he offered to treat me to the restaurant of my choice, with money as no object (but we were both kinda thinkin about $100.00 or under. Back to that later.)! I researched a little and found this little gem, beaming brightly in stylish Scott's Addition.
I actually made the reservation online, which was awesome! They provide options of the next available times if the one you enter isn't available.
Our res was for 8:15 and we pulled up in our über with roaring appetites and fancy people clothes. We had a little trouble locating the door, but honestly we a bit goofy like dat sometimes, so it coulda been us lol.
The decor features dim lighting, clean lines and rustic chic without going a little too far into the whole "Fixer Upper" fad. I found it very tasteful.
Our hostess had our table prepared for us when we got inside and our server cheerfully greeted us after. I didn't know which wine i wanted so i asked for a suggestion, giving an example of wines I've liked. The waitress brought out a tasting glass with their house red wine, a wine that is actually especially made for the restaurant! I thought that was amazing, and the wine was really good. It's bold and spicy without being too "yechhh, red wine". J got a farmhouse ale that was brewed by The Veil specially for Brenner as well!! Both tasted stupendous paired with their house baked sourdough and homemade cultured butter. My mouth is watering right now just picturing it! I think we devoured the whole thing in like 5 minutes!!
After the bread, i knew i wanted to do a cheeseboard. A good cheeseboard is like one of my all time favorite things in life. This one did not disappoint!! We ordered the servers 3 cheese suggestions. They were fancy cheeses and i can't remember the names of any of them to be honest. One tasted kinda spanish, like a salty manchego. One was sharper like a cheddar, and my favorite one was similar to a very very creamy Brie . Our waitress hooked us up with a GORGEOUS arrangement of toast points, figs, a raisin compote, mustard, hot cherry peppers, and grape jelly to pair with our cheeses!! Probably the best thing I've ever put in my mouth. Honestly.
Then came the entrees...oh mah gahhh. My husband got their burger, which is made with ground brisket and spare rib!! So tender and delicious and they actually cooked it medium like he ordered, which rarely happens!! It was to dieeeee for, and they gave him enough fries to feed an army (and a fry-stealing wife). I ordered their Cacio e Pepe spaghetti. It was some miraculous combination of cracked black pepper, garlic, Parmesan, and olive oil and the most delicious house made fresh pasta i've ever tasted. Best of all, i had leftovers to eat for lunch the next day!!!
We thought about dessert, but were too stuffed!! I decided to order a mocha while waiting for the check. Blanchard's coffee is located right next door, so you can imagine how divine this cup of coffee was!! Creamy, sweet but not too sweet or rich, and super chocolatey. Mmmmm.
The bill came to about $100.00 exactly!! Expensive for sure, but amazing quality, amazing quantity, and i got 3 drinks (including the mocha)! If you are looking for a wonderful experience through and through, make your res for BP ASAP!! You won't regret it! We will certainly be back for the next excuse to dine fancy that i can think of. read more
