Bistek a la Mexicana
Kayla H.

We always come here as a late night meal cause they're open 24 hours, but the service is always so good! The servers are so nice and super understanding! The food is also delicious and has never disappointed us. The inside is very spacious and has lots of seating. For anyone looking for a late night spot and delicious authentic Mexican food I would definitely recommend this place! :)

Food and drinks were delicious. Service was friendly and speedy. ttffYet they also allow you to enjoy your food. Ambiance was like any other Mexican restaurant but 24 hours!

Wilted brown lettuce- yuck!
Cynthia J.

Hey. Why did you all give a customer a sope de res with brown wilted lettuce and tough and dry ground beef? I was looking forward to the sope because I so love them. It was really a bummer to open the container and the first thing I'm hit with is wilted lettuce. That's pretty gross. I then went on to look at the rest of the dish and the avocado was okay, the tomato was okay, but the beef was tough and dry and the masa was fried and oily. It's okay that the masa was fried but it was oily. If it wasn't oily it would be pretty good.My My boyfriend took one look at it and it went straight in the garbage. I wouldn't even feed that beef to the feral cats in my community. Wow, I had a taste for sopes and a big bummer that this one was so bad. 1 star for decent avocado, tomato, and the sodas we received were cold.

I got caldo de res and the meat looked suspicious.

I got caldo de res and the meat loooked suspicious. Greyish streaks. I texted a friend just to make sure if I should eat it or not. This is breakfast and I was hungry but I don't want to risk it. The first piece of meat had a weird smell and I was second guessing myself about it, but when I saw this I decided to ask my friend. Now wait staff aren't going to dig through food like soup to check meat inside of opaque broth before serving. That is on the kitchen. And if they are getting bad meat, don't serve it. If it looks like you wouldn't eat it don't serve it The waitress came back with google translate saying the meat came looking like that, but it's good. It shouldn't be on her like that. Also. No shame in using our phones when there is a language barrier. That was great! I appreciated it. Service is great. Kitchen idk if I can trust them with meat. Or meat that is either in or covered by stuff and not immediately visible when served. Horchata is great btw. Not sus. This could also be a supply chain issue in which case their supplier could have poor ethics, giving supplying meat they already know is bad or on the way out. I might just get a large horchata next time or like idk egg based breakfast dishes. I like soup for breakfast.

Quesabirria Tacos

The service was great, immediately sat and brought chips and salsa . I enjoyed the quesabirria tacos so much that I returned the very next day for the same thing and couple house margaritas. They even had karaoke the second night!!

Fajita quesadilla

A nice hole in the wall restaurant that's open 24/7. Don't judge the place by it's red salsa. You might want to push that away and just go for the green. The red salsa tastes watered down, but the green salsa was packed with flavor and hard to resist. The fajita quesadillas were decently portioned and stuffed with cheese, which I loved! I was pleasantly surprised by their refried beans. I am typically not a fan of refried beans but theirs may change my mind! The service wasn't the greatest but the food makes up for it, in my opinion.

Just moved to this side of town and was looking for a new taqueria. Think this one will definitely be added to my list. I'm pretty picky about fish tacos, but the ones I had here were the bomb! The fish was blackened perfectly and the chipotle cream on top was really good. Black beans and rice were standard. They have a large menu so definitely want to try their Mexican street tacos next time. Also they have churros!!! I was too full to try them today, but next time I'll try those too.

I just went here today early morning at 2am 04/05 and I order pork rice , not really sure how to say in spanish , and found this one on it , a pork piece with white little thing on it ................ Cant say anything so disappointed

Large chicken quesadilla

Came here on a Monday night at 11pm. Love how it's open 24/7. Service is friendly. Food is decent. Prices are reasonable. I got the large chicken quesadilla and 1 al pastor taco. My friend got the Barbacao Torta and 2 tacos. The tacos were cheap at 1.89$ a piece but very average. The al pastor taco was dry and bland. The quesadilla was simple and hefty. Plenty of chicken and cheese. Never can wrong with a quesadilla. I also got a few bites from my friend's torta. Pretty good! Loved the bread. Everything also came with a side of unlimited chips and salsa. Overall, a great, late night Mexican restaurant. Definitely worth a visit after 10pm when most restaurants in the area are closed.

Gave this place a second chance and once again it disappointed me at its fullest. I looked over the menu for a kids quesadilla plate which said $4 And this is what I got. My child was starving she has already eaten half of her quesadilla. I was ripped off $12.00 for this crap and one small drink. Never coming back.

Woo K.

Fajita quesadilla was the bomb. That's it. No but seriously. I ordered the chicken burrito. Cow tongue burrito. Cow tongue taco. Seasoned pork taco. And fajita quesadilla. Not really that impressed with any of them except the fajita quesadilla. Lots of hot sauce. The cow tongue was prob the most disappointing. I love cow tongue "lengua" . But noooooooooooo. Too big of peices number one. Cut it damn smaller. Or the lingering taste never leaves!! The pork was a bit salty. Chicken burrito had weird texture and not enough flavor. Seriously. Fajita quesadilla. Mad good. Like daaayyyuumm.

Just because there are 24 hours and the food is "alright" for the price but back in the day, the food was hitting alot better.

Happy Cinco De Mayo! Met the ladies here to celebrate, & break bread…read more Thank you Jamila for selecting this original location of the Original Ninfas, to host, (our last supper, before your relocation from Houston to Florida.). A place I grew up in as a little girl in Beaumont but never have I've visit this "original" location. Stepping in to this spot felt like a restaurant in the country of Mexico. I ordered the El Henry. I absolutely loved my dish, only thing I would've chance was the cheese enchilada definitely would've swap for a chicken or beef one, or maybe even a flaunta. I really like the Mexican rice, it had little potatoes and carrots in it. Some of the best Mexican yellow rice I've had. They offer a cinco de mayo drink special. The only thing that seem to make it special was the drinks apparently were limited edition menu items. Nothing was special about the prices. The regular menu drinks were a dollar(s) less. The margarita I ordered first was peach coconut. I didn't taste the coconut at all. I swap for the peach strawberry ($14 or 15) which was great, sweet& strong. One did me just right. You get to select up to two flavors for additional $2 (for both verse each, that's a plus. Not worded on menu). If you select a third flavor an additional $2 would be added ($4 in total) I appreciate separate tickets provided after confirmation and no additional gratuity automatically added, which he got tip equally the same or more. When asked about the "empty" patio that was available, he informed us that the entire deck was reserved. Upon departing I noticed from the parking lot individual tables, of separate parties were occupying only 3 tables. It was 8 of us sitting at 2 tables. Which the table was pushed up against the wall, and one side was inaccessible, which took away spacing. Service was lovely space was really tight. Good thing some of the ladies didn't order full meals. Definitely wouldn't have been able to fit every plate.

Ambiance: upon walking in, it was chaos and sooooo many people standing up and sitting down. Walking around with drinks. I felt like I was in a club. A server made her way to me to take my Togo order. While waiting, I grabbed a drink at the bar and just made the happy hour cut off. Service was great as I was able to get my order and it was a large order. Everything was correct. The house margarita was ok, I wish I had gotten the hibiscus flavor. Order; Crab Tostadas Mixed Fajitas Snapper Mole Enchilada Ninfa 2 Tacos Margarita Mix The only thing I would order again is the crab tostadas and the beef fajitas. The chicken had no flavor at all. The charros beans and rice were not anything special. I was not a fan of either. Overall, we are not planning to order from here again. It just wasn't what Mark Weins made it seem like on his review. Also, whoever the driver was practically could not wait for me to turn around. Sorry, I had to take a pic. Very rude.

A Cali girl-lala enjoying some Tex Mex…read more While in HTX I was able to meet up with a friend from college. He mentioned margaritas (not pictured) and food! So we met at Candente. Upon walking in the restaurant was clean it was pretty packed for a Wednesday night but the aroma of the food! OMG! Our server was really nice and patient because my friend and I talked for about 30 minutes before we finally ordered our food. He has the beef enchiladas with rice and black beans. He cleaned his plate...literally not a grain of rice in sight! I had the smoked chicken verde enchiladas and WOW! What an amazing dish. I consider myself a Mexican food connoisseur especially being from California. I have always said Tex Mex?.....eeeeyuck! But Candente has changed my tune! I will definitely be back to visit when I return!

Glowing red. Burning. Candente…read more Let me start by saying that I'm not into Mexican food unless it's an auntie or grandma making it at their house. I prefer traditional homemade Mexican food but here we are. (Oh I googled and suggested this place lol) Went in for a team lunch on a Friday. Coworker's birthday lunch and she wanted Mexican. Party of 9 and we were seated promptly. They have a lunch menu and a happy hour as well as a full menu and full bar. The interior was nicely decorated. And open. There is bar seating and patio seating as well. Our waitress was Aisha and she was amazing. Friendly, helpful and patient. And able handle our large group and a few more tables with a smile. There were a variety of options. Salads, fajitas, nachos, enchiladas, etc. Also complimentary chips and salsa. My Order: chicken tortilla soup, lunch fajitas combo - chicken and beef. Chicken tortilla soup (3.5/5) - it was a bit salty for me but I am not a salt person so most things are salty to me; everyone else said it was tasty, there were tons of shredded chicken, avocado pieces, tortilla strips Fajitas - combo (4/5) - chicken was seasoned well and the beef (medium rare) was perfection and so tender and juicy, mexican rice was fluffy, and normally I would pass on the beans and get extra rice but my coworker suggested the charro beans and wow, that was a win - the seasoning was great, there were chunks of meat and the texture was nice, the only thing that could have been done better is the flour tortillas - they over-charred them making them too crispy and left them with a burnt taste. A couple of people got the elote salad and raved about it. So that will be a next time try. Def will be back. Everyone enjoyed their meals and some even ordered food to go. Would recommend.

Parking can be challenging on weekends, but there is complimentary valet and a few extra spots in a lot across the street. There's interior and exterior seating, with cozy booths and tables. Service is friendly. Chips and salsa: Superica has some of my favorite chips, crispy and thin and perfectly fried. The avocado crema salsa and warm serrano pepper salsas are delicious with a mild kick. The bottled red salsa is fresh and green salsa packs a nice punch. Migas: Scrambled eggs with tortilla chips and cheese, choice of chicken versus chorizo on top, finished with fresh avocado. I really enjoyed this combination and the generous portion for the price. The eggs are well scrambled without being dry, and the pairing with cheese is proportional. The chicken was a touch dry, but some salsa solved that well. I enjoyed stuffing each component into a fresh tortilla and devouring it as a breakfast taco. Refried beans and rice: Really delicious. The refried beans are of the smoother variety without as much chunkiness, which I prefer, and topped with creamy cheese. I could have used a touch more tomato in the rice, but overall enjoyed the texture and flavor. Patatas with salsa roja, topped with egg: I enjoyed the flavors in this dish, but there was sooo much salsa. The potatoes were thus a little soggy, though still cooked well. The over medium egg was cooked nicely and complemented the potatoes with creamy yolk. Bacon: Really generous portion for $7 as a side, and cooked well. Crispy potatoes: I enjoy that these are fingerling potatoes smashed and roasted, but they could be crispier. They seem to be on the blander side on purpose to allow seasoning to taste, and I really like pairing them with the red bottled salsa provided at each table (probably due to their association with ketchup). Hotcakes: The literal star of every brunch, these hotcakes are consistently delicious. They're massive yet somehow cooked perfectly through so that they're fluffy and soft on the inside and just with a slight crunch on the outside. The pairing of the creamy warm (!!!) maple syrup is heavenly. Because of how huge these are, usually one is enough to share between two people, although they also come in stacks of two and three. For reference, we finished 3/4 of three between four healthy and hungry people and it wasn't for lack of trying. Whenever I crave weekend brunch, Superica is always a top option.
