My last service wasn't nearly as good as good as all of the other visits combined. It seemed to be much more greasy eating and lacking of general maintenance. I had been a regular customer of the theirs for a few years but after my last experience with them, I didn't think I will be coming back coming back anytime soon. read more

Have you ever gone to Pollo Campero in Guatemala or El Salvador? Was it absolutely delicious and some of the best chicken you've ever had? Nice! Well throw all that out the window, and imagine having crappy chicken just advertised as the legendary, "Pollo Campero". That is what you have here, crappy dry chicken with people providing mediocre service with a low quality smile. A buddy dragged me to come to this spot against my will. I've had delicious Campero Chicken in Central America, and knew this was going to be the incomparable. The local is dirty, the workers don't seem happy to be there, and the chicken is greasy and mediocre. If you are a fan of the legendary 'Campero', I suggest you don't come here. The fact of the matter is that the ingredients are never going to be as delicious as Central America, best not to bother at all with this poor excuse for food. read more

Pollo Campero - Meh....just meh! - Latin American Near Me - South Houston, Texas

My family and I love pollo campero. We've ordered from them multiple times. Their fried chicken is always consistently well seasoned, although not the crunchiest fried chicken we've ever had. The spices in their chicken are very unique to them. We actually enjoy their fried chicken more than Popeyes, although pollo campero is more expensive. We also tried their fried chicken sandwiches, which were also delicious. Again, their fried chicken patty was well seasoned and it went well with their pickles. Their pickles were sweet, but not overwhelmingly so. The pickle texture was good too. I even enjoyed their mashed potatoes side, which reminded me a lot of KFC's mashed potatoes. Overall, I'd definitely recommend trying pollo campero if you want to try fried chicken that's not from the usual Popeyes or KFC chains. read more

Ordered a 4 piece wing and got only 3. So I don't know where the miscommunication was but I'm disappointed

Nope. Greasy, soggy fries and the chicken sandwich is less than the size of a moon pie for $9! The buns are also soggy and smashed flat. First and last time. I cant wait until places like this go out of business, i dont know how they get the funding to put anything up in the first place. Blech! read more

i love ordering from here but yesterday the food was not what i expected to be i went back to get a refund or exchange (mind you i only took 1 bite) but a hispanic lady from the back came to help me I expected her to understand that I didn't liked the food but instead she started going back and forth with and attitude on how she couldn't give me a refund nor exchanged and her reason was because "it wasn't her fault that i didn't liked the food and she couldn't controlled that " which i think is very unprofessional of her to say. They need to hired people who actually cares about their customers . read more

I came to this location and I ordered 20pc baked. The manage said it's gonna be 30 minutes. I told her okay... I drive to the window and the Manger ask me again about do I want fried or baked... I'm just starting staring her down because she didn't take my order like she suppose too... Next she said I have to put you back in because it's gonna be another 10 minutes. This is the 3rd time at this location where I had to wait on bake chicken and next she say we have fried ready.... If I wanted fried I would have went to Popeyes Chicken... Your employee needs to learn to serve the customer what they want and NOT what you have ready read more

First time ever stopping at this restaurant/fast food and I was so disappointed. The manager was taking care of the cashier register and her attitude was terrible. She had no patience whatever. She was very rude. Again like how I mentioned before. I've need eating at this restaurant and for sure this will be my last time ever. I ask her if she was the manager which she did say yeah. Which it made it even worse. I was a manager at a bigger company for almost 17 yrs and a manager must show professionalism at all time. I hope the corporate management see this review and have retrained this employee. This happened on 1/26/24 @ 2:50pm central time. read more

I haven't had Pollo Campero in a long time, and I am not disappointed with my most recent experience. We ordered a family meal, which came with 20 pieces of chicken, four sides, and tortillas. There was plenty of food for each of us (total of six) and we still had leftovers. For our sides, we got: fries, beans, rice, and mashed potatoes. The sides are pretty generic, but still enjoyable. The chicken was hot and crispy; I really enjoyed it. Everything is served with actual plates and utensils, which I like since it reduces waste. Overall, good and I plan on coming back and trying other items. read more

Give them 2 stars because 1/ I still love pollo campero BUT won't come back this location. 2/ worst service Hard time for me to order what I want. I was trying to say I want 2 grilled and 4 fried in my 6 pieces combo. I didn't know that my 6 pieces were $17 instead of order 8 pieces for $15. Wtf Didn't ask me for drinks. Had to get another line for drinks only. Waiting a lil bit longer cuz the staff was busy of "flirting" 3/ almost fell cuz the floor so wet and they had no sign of it. 4/ Fried chickens were over cooked or might be old Grilled chicken looks funny with a piece and .... tiny piece ( I ordered 2 pieces of grilled for almost $4) 5/ Not as other locations, this location had NO sauce. No sauce for my yuca . Ketchup only read more

Pollo Campero - Tiny piece of grilled chicken look smaller than in pic. I swear - Latin American Near Me - South Houston, Texas

this pollo campero is the worst in the business , the people that work here are super rude , the managers don't know what thier doing , I went to eat here with my family and trust me I won't be coming back , this place has really fall low , with these employees are the worst iv ever seen , horrible experience read more

I have tried coming to this location 5 times in the last year, all want is to order some camperitos with French fries, however they never have them, the fryer is not working, someone's cleaning it. At this point take it off the menu if it's that inconvenient to have chicken nuggets. Maybe one day I could come and order it without being disappointed. Till then I will keep dreaming on some camperitos with fries. read more

We finally tried this place when El Pollo Loco closed due to Harvey . The staff is friendly and the place is clean. We have been coming to this location for at least once week now. Even if it's quite a drive from our house. My husband prefers the grilled. I like the fried. The marinade is amazing on the grilled chicken, and I love how the fried chicken has barely any batter & yet juicy. We both love the Campero rice, but for me the Empanadas are heavenly! I have yet to try the Yuca fries. CONS: Chicken cuts are WAY TOO small for the price. El Pollo Loco has larger cuts. Wonder why? The Empanadas again, are amazing although for $1.89 each , is quite pricey. Tonight we went there at 9:15pm and sadly they were out of the grilled. The girl was nice enough to explain that a customer bought a huge order of the grill chicken and the manager decided not to grill anymore. So my husband was quite disappointed he was stuck with the fried chicken. But I appreciate how the manager was apologetic and gave us 2 free empanadas!!! Great customer service! Since Pollo Loco reopened we had a bad experience at one of their location. They snuck in old chicken with the freshly cooked ones, bad move, we can obviously taste some pieces were day old. But I will reserve this review to their site. read more

I think the food is great I think also that their prices are reasonable. The people there are very sweet and helpful and it's clean! That was my experience I've been there twice and I'm going again! read more

Taste: The food taste amazing as always! I'm glad they opened a location closer to me. I always get the Grilled chicken and although sometimes they overcook it a little, it still taste amazing. I'm glad they don't take the skin off of the grilled chicken before cooking it otherwise the chicken would probably be dry and not taste as good so I'm grateful they got that part right. The grilled chicken is juicy and well seasoned I highly recommend it. When it comes to the sides I recommend getting the Yuca fries with creamy cilantro sauce. The sweet plantains are great as well but I don't like sweet food so I stick to the Yuca Fries. Price: It's priced fair for the Quality of food you get. But the chicken is small so quantity wise it sucks. My only complaint is that the chicken has gotten smaller. I don't know why the hell the chicken is smaller but makes this place not worth coming to. If they wanna fix this problem then I'll comeback. Good taste means nothing if you don't even get enough food. This place is way better than KFC, churches and Popeyes. Way healthier as well. It's rare to find a place that's healthy and good in taste at the same time. read more

This spot has the best grilled chicken on the westside of houston. It has a very good texture to the meat and is never dry. A hint of lime on top gives it that extra uuumphI would recommend this place to anybody. Mashed potatoes were on par with other restaurants. read more

Don't go here around closing time. Its very obvious that these guys are doing everything they can to leave the moment they close. I went 30 minutes before closing and the they were out of black beans, yucca fries were stale, fried chicken was soggy, empanadas were hot outside / cold inside. On top of the bad food it took over 10 minutes to get my food despite me being the only person in line. The employees were not rude however they were less than professional. This place will go out of business quick if they don't start taking lessons from their neighbors at Chick-fil-A. You can't charge tier 1 fast food prices with bottom tier food and service. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by the food! I don't usually enjoy fried chicken, but theirs was battered with nicely. I also had the grilled chicken which was perfect over their garden salad. The salad had tasty sunflower seeds, which complimented the meal perfectly. I will definitely be visiting again for a quick lunch or dinner. read more

Used to be good when it first opened but their menu changed and they don't have plantain as a side anymore, and also drinks are not included in the meals anymore which sucks. I haven't even been here in months until today I decided to get a 4 piece fried chicken meal. The chicken was lacking and it didn't taste as good as it used to. Won't be back. read more

I had this chicken like 10 years ago but at another location the one on Bellaire and chimney rock so I decided to give this location a try and to be honest the chicken is way overpriced and the portions are small I rather go to kfc and spend $20 dollars to feed my whole family because at pollo campero you end up spending like 30 bucks and the chicken is so small smh ‍ I'm never coming back. read more

Four words: do not go here. The advertisements make the food look so scrumptious, but it was awfully disappointing. I bought my food at the drive thru and was told it would take about 15-20 mins to have my food. I was fine with that and waited... for 35 mins. If I am going to wait 35 mins for food, it better be damn good. This was my first time coming here. And it's also my last. I had ordered the Family Meal of 12 pieces and 3 sides with 6 tortillas. I had requested for half crunchy and half grilled. The crunchy chicken was cold and stale with absolutely no flavoring. Just straight up batter/flour and deep fried. The grilled chicken was extremely sour (probably from being marinated in too much lime/lemon) and salty. My sides included Campero rice, corn salad and mashed potatoes. Each of these sides made me think of nasty cafeteria food at school. On top of that, I did not receive my tortillas. Their chipotle/Campero sauce was lacking. It says a lot when you go to an establishment and all the customers inside are pissed off, too. Never again. read more

I recently ordered something online and picked it up at this restaurant. I got there and somebody named Derek who was obviously some manager just went off and belittled two other ladies that were working there. I just really didn't appreciate the way you treated him and then he looked at me and said oh there's not enough generals but there's too many Indians I just turned around to the lady who was working it was trying to help me and told her I was sorry that he spoke to her in that manner he was just very disrespectful to his employees his name is DERRICK read more

I went here yesterday and the drive thru was broken. And the lady tried to rip me off when i order their 8 piece for 12$ special. She tried to charge me the regular price. Then today I drove back around the same time and the drive thru was broken again and then when i got to the window to try to order like i did the day before they post a sign saying the drive thru computer was broken. Are you kidding me? You guys are a chain restaurant and you can't get these things fixed? After wasting 10 minutes driving around, i park go inside and they say theyre closed. This is absolute crap, no apologies or anything. read more

I don't know what happened in the last couple of months but the sauce you get has changed and it seems the batter for the chicken has changed as well. In Katy, we have tons of good restaurants to choose from and this not one of them. Because we have so many good places to eat - you only get one chance to get it right! My wife brought me home a chicken breast sandwich from this place and it was thick and rubbery! When I opened the box to get my sandwich, half the bun was stuck to the box and the sandwich fell apart - I tried to eat it anyway...the favor was fair - kind of a cross between burger king and chik filet - but the quality was poor and it was so rubbery that I couldn't even bite thru it... it's in the trash... the fries sucked also and the Coca Cola tasted flat... sorry - this restaurant sucks! I feel sorry for my trash- where the sandwich ended up... read more

Saw this place on my way home a few times and decided to try it out once it opened up. Thinking that "Pollo" was in the name, the chicken must be good right? lmao sike. I've had better chicken at Walgreens. I got the empanadas for like 2 bucks a pop only to be given some fun sized empanadas that can be eaten whole in pairs. Especially for the price, the portions should at least be able to fill up a toddler. Come on America. This is the land of the brave, not the line of the hungry. read more

I'm only giving 1 star because I can't give none. Waited for MONTHS for this location to open. The only thing on their online menu that looked good was a pollo bowl. Only to get there and be told Pollo bowls have been taken off all their menus. Ummmm then why is it still on your website? Ended up having to get some crappy excuse for chicken bites that were nothing more than glorified chicken nuggets and some beans I could get at any Tex Mex spot. Very disappointed- will NOT be returning read more

I'll never come back to this place again , they made me wait for almost 40 minutes for a 20 pc combo and at the end they just give me my money back , their stuff have no idea of what are they doing they need training big time plus the time I was waiting in the lobby , I saw the lobby really dirty read more
