There was someone there already getting a watch battery replaced. So, while waiting, I walked around admiring their clocks and watches. They have quite a selection - great if you need a nice clock for yourself or as a gift. I took some pictures and a short video and posted them for you to see. When it was my turn, he took the watch and went in the back. It didn't take much more than five minutes for him to return with the watch working again! And the price was very reasonable, under $20. Fun store with good service.

I came in on a Saturday afternoon dressed pretty casually for a hot summer day. My intent: Take a…read morelook at their collection of high-end watches, do further research, and come back to make a purchase later. Also, I had in my backpack, a brand new Omega Speedmaster that I needed resizing (basically just removing links from the bracelet). The first person I spoke with told me, "I'm not sure we can do that here"...and then another person (Mark) came out and told me that the Omega store was just a couple blocks away but they "probably didn't have the tools to do this". I found it patently absurd that a fine swiss watch boutique could not adjust the length of a watch band. I also noticed a couple of times that he glanced at my wrist, probably to size up my buying power. I purposefully had worn my trust Citizen Ecodrive field watch (a $100 watch). I did this because I wanted to see if the cliché of high-end luxury salespeople judging you based on appearance and tailoring their approach/effort accordingly was actually true. So I said I'd just go to the Omega store, but first, I would just take a look around at some watches. The guy "helping" me made zero effort to make any conversation, get to know what I was looking for, etc. I spotted a nice Zenith Pilot watch and asked to see it. He took it out and I asked him to tell me about it. He offered that Zenith has the trademark on naming a watch "Pilot" and pretty much stopped there. Said nothing about the movement, history of the brand, the watch finishes, etc. I told him I was interested in buying a pilot watch. A nod and silence...It just felt like he was hoping for me to leave ASAP. It seems crazy to me that people selling high-end products in a boutique setting could think this is a good way to treat potential customers? Anyways, I then took my Speedy to the Omega store and that was the totally opposite experience: Andrew and Andy were super helpful, happy to adjust my watch band (did it for free too), and showed me several watches, telling me about the tooling Omega developed to make them, their history, and letting me try them all on. I didn't buy anything that day, but you can bet I'm going to be buying from Omega (or a boutique that cares about treating customers well) way before I ever give this place my business.

I'm trying extremely hard to write an unbiased review, since my engagement ring was purchased at…read morethis fine establishment, but this place truly does deserve five stars. Of course I love my ring, but unlike many women, I wanted absolutely no part in designing or picking out what kind of ring I wanted; I didn't even necessarily insist on a diamond. I trusted my guy implicitly to select the perfect ring for me, and more importantly, I wanted to be surprised. And with the help of Charles (Charlie), he did just that. My fiancé knew from the start that he wanted a ruby as the main stone (to go with my red hair!) and there just aren't a lot of ruby engagement rings to be had. He went to Jeweler's Mall on S. Wabash Avenue (or as my mom calls it, "The Den of Forty Thieves") and asked around as to where he might be able to purchase such a ring. He was directed to Charles Horberg. As soon as he met Charles, he knew he was in the right place to make such an important purchase. Together, they chose the perfect stone and setting, which involved transferring a stone from one ring to a setting from another, until my fiancé was happy with the finished product. I couldn't have been happier with my ring, but the band was quite large and needed to be re-sized. Fortunately I work close by and was able to take it in immediately. When I walked in, I immediately loved Charlie (for some reason I naturally gravitate towards aging Jewish men who remind me of my grampa), and when Charlie told me the reason my fiancé selected a ruby (http://jewishmag.com/67mag/aishetchail/aishetchail.htm), my heart melted. When my correct size was determined, Charlie asked when I wanted my ring back. Duh, I wanted it back as soon as possible! Normally these things take some time (usually a week), but Charlie was able to turn it around in twenty-four hours. That was much appreciated. My grampa used to be a jeweler in the same building many, many years ago, and since Charlie has been in the same building for fifty years, I thought I'd ask if he knew him. Turns out my grampa's store was only one floor up. And then Charlie showed me a picture of a jeweler's banquet reception taken in 1957 to see if I could find my grampa in it. Since the picture was grainy (not to mention I couldn't really distinguish the men from one another), I couldn't find him, but I was so touched that he still had the picture. Charlie loves what he does and seems to have no plans to retire. He always sees people at their best (well, jewelry purchases tend to be reserved for happy occasions!) and enjoys making people feel good. I'm sure we'll be buying our wedding bands from Charlie and I imagine it will be another terrific experience., I can't recommend Charles Horberg Jewelers enough!

Since I was near a store, I decided to go inside and try the bracelet on/have it sized before purchasing online. When I entered the store, I was greeted and paired with Patricia. She was pleasant, and allowed me to try on the various sizes to determine which would best suit me. I ended up getting a small, however, I think a "smedium" should be made because it's a little tight. I'm overall pleased with my experience. My only gripe is that my bracelet was easily scratched and appears a bit lackluster after only a few months. I need to get it cleaned to see if that will help. In regard to value, I bought this bracelet in January 2026 and it is currently July 2026; the price has increased by $150 to date. That's a bit wild to me, however I'm glad I purchased it when I did.
