This is the worst internet service I've ever had in my life. I recently moved from the Lexington Park, MD area from Rockville, MD and was dumbfounded to find out that there was only one service provider in the area I chose to live in that would "function". I use air quotes because the word "function" is a strong word. I was set up with Metrocast on April 12, 2016 and it's been a nightmare ever since. By April 25, 2016 there was an internet outage for all Metrocast users in the Lexington Park, MD. The outage happened at 9:45am and wasn't resolved until 5:56pm. I work remotely so this was one hell of a headache and completely unacceptable, especially since I just bought the service. I called during the outage and was basically told "Oh, it will come back on eventually." Fast forward to the month of May and an issue with the box begins to present itself. On May 20th, 2016, the internet stops functioning all together. I called and was told a technician would come out to fix it. In the meantime, my step-father found some troubleshooting steps by using phone data after four hours without internet. Another hour passed by and we were able to get it back on. I called and cancelled the appointment. Throughout the month of May I continued to experience more issue but thanks to the troubleshooting steps my step-father found, I was able to resolve most issues when the Wi-Fi would decide not to work. Moving forward to my most recent issue on June 5, 2016, the Wi-Fi/internet would not work. Period. I tried the troubleshooting and anything else I could think of but nothing worked. I ended up calling Metrocast the following Monday (June 6, 2016) and was told through several apologies that a technician would arrive between the hours of 12 noon and 8pm that day. So, I waited and waited-meanwhile missing pretty much an entire day of work because I work REMOTELY-the technician never arrived. At 8:45pm I left my home and booked a hotel. While driving there I called Metrocast and explained what was going on that I wanted to speak to a supervisor so I could get my $200.00 deposit back as well as cancel my service without any fees or another bill. I was told the 2nd shift supervisor DONNA CONRAD would call me back. I heard nothing. So, I called back today, June 7, 2016 at 11:45am. After explaining my story for a second time and being stuck on hold for almost thirty minutes, I was finally forwarded to the 1st shift supervisor JASON (he would not give me his last name). I explained how I wanted to resolve the situation, he put me on hold, then returned saying I could not receive my $200.00 security deposit back because I cancelled my appointment for the May 20, 2016 incident. Of course this upset me; I paid $95.86 a month for a service that refused to work. I said just cancel my service without fees or another bill. He agreed and after he went through the process I hung up. Metrocast is running a monopoly in specific parts of Lexington Park, MD (the 20653 zip code to be exact). They know their service does not function and refuse to cooperate with their customers. They charged ridiculous fees and have multiple outages in the course of thirty days. They give customers flawed devices and products. My problem was it was the only service provider my development would allow. I would not recommend their services to anyone and if your development/condo/apartment complex allows it, bight the bullet and pay for Xfinity or Verizon Fios. It will save you time, money, and stress in the future. read more
