I've used Marc two times and almost a third time and wanted to share my experience. Pros - Marc is very responsive and will get out there immediately for emergency Cons - Initially, I thought his pricing was reasonable but after I talked to other plumbers they definitely thought I over paid. I would get two or three bids and compare prices with his work. For side sewer work his cost was almost 2x more than the other 3 contractors (the other 3 contractors were within the same range) - He tried to snake my side sewer line and it didn't work. He asked me if I wanted him to try another hour but it would cost me another $350. So I paid $700 for no fix. I personally felt that he was trying to upsell me and get me to spend more money when it wasn't necessary. I think most plumbers would know if a snake doesn't work the first hour that the second hour won't change anything. - For the bids, he never submitted any documents just word of mouth even though I asked him a few times I would like it written down. He just asked me to send the competitor bids and he would match. I'm using Bob Oates and Roto Rooter from my experience with using their bidding process. read more

Scam all the way. Paid $755 for a job that would have been $400. Then he tried to sell me (a woman alone) on over $800 more repairs. When I called several others, they quoted me $300. While he was here, Marc was really pushy on me writing a positive review. He said if I gave him cash, I wouldn't have to pay any tax on the job. Worst thing was he didn't fix the problem. Two weeks later, we had to call a reputable plumber to come fix the exact problem I showed the new plumber the receipt from Marc and he said "Wow! My shower mixer valve sprung a leak a few days before Thanksgiving. Although it was a holiday period, Marc came out within an hour to help stop the leak. He was back again a week later to do the full replacement of the shower hardware. Marc and team replaced the bad valve and piping with minimal cutting into the drywall behind. I called Marc because he had good reviews on Yelp. He was very nice and came to our house at 2PM to install a new dishwasher and unclog a drain. The job started off poorly, due to no fault of Marc's. He said our electrical box was not labeled properly and it took him at least 45 minutes to get the power cut to the kitchen. He then pulled the old dishwasher out and OMG, did it go terribly wrong! Marc could not figure out how to get the new dishwasher in. He kept breaking the framing clips, told me KitchenAid didn't send the right parts and asked if I would run to Ace Hardware to get the right bolt. He went out to his truck and found the right bolt. When he broke all the clips needed to hold the dishwasher in place, I went outside to see if the old dishwasher's clips were still usable; they were, but he still struggled. Marc kept complaining about what crappy parts KitchenAid makes. At 5:30 my husband came home and was shocked this guy was still at our house. My husband spent the next hour and a half trying to figure out how to get this dishwasher to be level. Marc ended up using shims! It didn't look right, but this guy talked more than he worked. We both just wanted him to leave. He went out to his truck at 7 PM to write up the bill; it was $951.00!!! That was $150 more than the dishwasher! My husband and I were both in shock! He charged $750 for labor, $60 for parts and $50 to haul away the old dishwasher! We both just looked at each other and didn't know what to say! He said...sorry but that is what I have to charge you! We paid him by check and thought lesson learned. The next day Marc calls me to apologize for it taking so long and asked if I was going to leave a review. He said he would come fix the dishwasher if anything went wrong. One week later the top rack of the dishwasher kept rolling out all on its own. There was no way in hell I was calling Marc. We called a maintenance guy we have used before. I told him what we paid to have the dishwasher installed and he said you were royally ripped off! This dishwasher isn't level, he said. He pulled it out, added some wood on the floor underneath to make it level and quickly re-installed the dishwasher. The total charge was $100 and it took him 45 minutes. Fast forward--one month later the memory board goes out on the dishwasher. I called KitchenAid; they sent a repairman out. I told the repairman the whole saga and he asked to see the receipt. I got it and showed him. He said this is one of the worst ripoffs I have ever seen. He took a picture of the receipt and showed a bunch of guys at work. Because it is second hand, I won't repeat what he said. I don't want to ruin Marc's business, but be aware. He is a nice man but a talker and will charge you for his time talking about his life. I would NEVER hire him again for a dishwasher installation. I believe because he couldn't figure out how to put the new dishwasher in he shouldn't have charged me so much. Plumbing emergencies suck especially on weekends. Late afternoon Thursday I discovered a leak under my rental cottage. I called 5 plumbing companies. First call was to my friend who does commercial plumbing, Moss Bay Plumbing. Although being commercial, he's helped me in the past when he could. He gave me 2 names, one was Marc. I called both. Left a message for Marc. The other one couldn't do it for about a week and gave me yet another plumber/sewer company to call. I called the other plumber/sewer guy and was told he would be here Friday between 1:00-3:00. At 3:00 he called to say he was running later. 6:00 still not here and not answering the phone. Marc called earlier the same day to check if I'd been helped. At the time I thought my problem was covered. He said to call back if I needed anything. Now it's Super Bowl Sunday, still no plumber so I called a couple of the big chain drain companies. Also called and left a message for Marc. One drain company gave a very high quote so I sent him away. Suddenly, the Friday plumber/sewer company guy shows up claiming he lost his phone. He gave an initial high quote which we discussed and came to an agreed upon reasonable price. He left to buy the pump and parts to complete the job. He call back now wanting to increase the agreed upon price. I was done with him. Marc called me back Monday morning as I had hoped. He told me he would be here at 12:30. He gave a call at about 12:20 saying he was running late. He arrived 12:45 with all materials ready to go. Got it done at a reasonable price. He's a knowledgeable professional! read more

Similar to the person from a recent review, I was quoted one price over the phone and, almost immediately, felt like I was being prepped for the classic bait and switch, with a stern, repeated warning that if ANY extra work had to be done, I would be charged accordingly. The fellas did have to dig a bit extra but, for the most part, the leak and repairs were what and where we suspected. No big surprises there. I suspect Mark underbid the job and, in an effort to recoup his loss, inflated the final bill to a whopping $500, revealed only after the work was completed. What's more, he swore at and belittled an employee in my presence--not cool! Do yourself a favor and pay a little more money for a lot more decorum and professionalism. We had a plumbing emergency on a Sunday that Mark came out and took care of at a reasonable price. We were very appreciative of his work. It was a temporary fix that restored water to the house. Then he came back to "finish" the job. Here's where it gets interesting. He returned later that week and completed tbe work we had agreed on, kinda. We agreed that the laundry room water supply needed to be updated. The work took Mark and an employee an hour and a half. That brought the total time spent at just over 2 hours. I met Marc when my bathroom remodel turned into a mini nightmare (no one's fault - I just inherited bad plumbing when I bought the house) and my contractor called Marc to remedy the problem. Marc gave me the straight dope on the issue, even had him talk to the plumbing supplier (Morgan's) who supplied the toilets to confirm the matter was a plumbing and not a materials issue. Once again, I wanted 3 estimates to replace my water heater. I got a call back and after giving him the part number, he asked me questions about the water heater. Sorry, I do not know if it is 40 gallons or 50. I gave you the part number. I ended up "Googling" the part and got the specifications. He gave me a "guesstimate". As part of the remodel he had to reconfigure a complicated tangle of pipes in my garage and we discovered my galvanized pipes needed replacing too. I hate to write this review but he asked I leave one so... I called mark to come out and fix the pipes under our rental property as they had disconnected and food from our garbage disposal had been collecting under the house (pretty gross) . I told mark all of this on the phone before he came out to do the job. He had quoted me at 300.00 for the work. The morning he came to get started He showed up with another guy who asked to use our bathroom 3 times in an hour and actually pissed on the seat a bit, not joking. Once he was under the house he decided the scope of work was more and said 550. Being a rental home I had to check with the owner before going a head with the work. He was extremely agitated about this to the point of almost yelling at me and got into it with my land lord on the phone. The owner reluctantly approved the work but mark loudly complained the entire time he was here about having to do the job" the crawl space is too fucking small" "it's digesting under there" ect ect. I didn't tell you to become a plumber? Crawling into small dark gross places is unfortunately part of the career you choose? It was really unprofessional and an all around awful experience. Mark came to my house to fix a leak coming from my dining room ceiling! He claimed it was the tub overflow valve. So he cut a hole in my ceiling and replaced it. 3 days later water is pouring from the hole he cut in my ceiling. Mark came back and determined that it was not the overflow it was cracked piping in the bathroom (another hole cut in my son's room). He constantly spoke about how terrible my piping was, but he would warranty his work for 2 years. 1 month or so later, water is coming through ceiling hole again. Mark is back and said the other side of the work he did now cracked. On the 4th visit, Mark came back out put in some shark bites and copper piping and was now confident the leak would be gone. I'm typing this review 9 days after his final visit because water is leaking out of his work again. Mark does NOT do quality work at all. I will be requesting a 100% refund, as I'm now forced to bring In a new plumber! read more

I would not recommend Marc. He gave us a quote of $1,200 to install a new bathtub. When we asked him to explain the price, he dropped it to $1,000 as a "one time" offer. We needed the job done, his other yelp reviews were pretty good, and all the other plumbers we called were booked solid. So we went with him. He sent someone else to do the work (which he didn't tell us would be the case). My Dad was here that day, working elsewhere in the house, and it turned out the guy that Marc sent required my Dad's help for most of the day. At the end of the day, Marc showed up and demanded that my Dad pay him, even though we had arranged beforehand to pay him after we'd gotten home from work and seen the finished job. Bottom line is that Marc may be good at what he does, but he didn't do the work for us, and his dealings with us were less than upfront. read more

I was feeling experimental Friday night & decided to put spaghetti noodles down the garbage disposal..Damn what a dumb idea idea!!..Kitchen sink plugged up & used a plunger to push it down. Went to bathroom to wash hands. Started to smell something funny. Pushed the shower curtain aside. My freaking tub had some dirty stinky water & that wouldn't drain. I guess I plugged up the shower pipe instead .For 2 days i tried everything & gave up. THANK GOD I got a hold of Marc!! He was willing to come out Sunday evening but it was late for me. So decided set up appointment for 11am Monday. He was here right on time. He came in took his shoes off which is great. Assessed the problem in the shower. Came back with his tools and fixed it. The sound of the water going down the drain. Was music to my ears! My experience with Marc is that he is very professional & very knowledgable. Marc, did a great job. VERY Fast service. The pipe broke at 11 AM... he was on the job by 1 PM, working very fast (we had an appointment to go to and didn't want to put this off for a day or two, since we would not be able to use the water) He also fixed an issue with the water heater and everything was done in a flash. In the mean time he was informing us what he was doing, showing us the work (so we knew there was no hanky panky, adding unnessesary work) reasonable price, very friendly and felt comfortable with him right away. Also gave us good tips on how to keep the pipes and water flowing well in the future. Can't say enough. Would definately trust him to do any plumbing work needed, and know he would be there right away. Our job was the most important thing in his day... or at least that was how we felt when he came out, assessed, explained and repaired.
