    toast/breakfast potatoes (packaged to go)
    Candie W.

What I ordered vs. What I got (sheeesh).... SO, this was a very quaint place....very small. I especially realized upon entering that this is a place for the locals only. They do not cater to new customers, don't even try. Also, the customers stared me down, gave me dirty looks. They did not want me in "their" breakfast spot. No worries, I will not return (HA!). I read the reviews so I knew that it was in the back. This is something you would not know without reading the reviews or just knowing (no signage). I wasn't greeted when I walked in - even though all eyes were on me. I had to actually walk all the way to the back and ask to order (I still left a tip by the way because I am not that kind of person). My order took about 30 minutes even though I was originally told that it would be 15 minutes. This wasn't a big deal, as I noticed it was pretty busy for this small place. Inside was full - they had a handful of tiny tables (2 seaters - about 4 of them) and they had about 3 bar stools. Outside they had several small tables - all full. So, I didn't mind waiting - this way I knew my food would be hot and fresh. yessss!!! a win.... Ultimately, the food was well....not worth the wait. I knew when it did not smell like food inside - especially when cooking bacon you get the smells!! I ordered : (2) potatoes toast blueberry pancakes I got (received) : 1 order of potatoes toast blob of something (I am not sure if it is pancakes or if it is even done) I decided not to eat the pancakes for my safety. Also - the butter they gave me on the side had something floating in it. The toast is rather thick so it is something that you have to be used to. I like my toast airy and chewy with crisp edges, so it was not for me. The potatoes (the whole reason that I went) - I thought that they were like smothered potatoes, skillet potatoes, potatoes and onions (whatever you call them where you are from) - but these potatoes had no onions and they had the skin on them and they were pretty thick cut so this is not something I am used to either BUT they look absolutely yummy. So....yeah, no!!

Great place to grab breakfast. Small and only open in the mornings but worth the trip. Basic menu but all cooked to order. A local favorite to enjoy.

Food is great. Service is great as well. He makes his own bread and pastries which are delicious.

Good breakfast, reasonable price. Feels old school and authentic. I've gone several times in just a few weeks.

Great morning stop for a classic NJ breakfast sandwich. Indeed, an outstanding NJ breakfast sandwich. Great prices, too.

Feels appropriate for a bar/restaurant within a classy and classic historic hotel in a historic town. Service - excellent, friendly, and fast. Bar service is exceptional and they make great cocktails. Food - everything has been well prepared. -I am, like many Marylanders, particular about my crab cakes. These are done very well. Not too much filling, and clearly uses lump crab meat (in part if not totally). I would prefer more Chesapeake seasoning salt within the cake. Worth trying. -the snapping turtle soup was very tasty. A true treat and a must have. -cream of crab soup is great. Lump crab meat and well seasoned. Worth trying. -the maple bacon roasted Brussel sprouts are fantastic. Order-able as a side dish, and a must have. -the mashed potatoes with the crab cake were decent but not great. Order-able as a side, but I would skip. -the scallops were nicely seared. Cooked perfectly; not rubbery or dry. Worth trying. -the risotto with the scallops was good. not order-able as a side dish. Worth trying -the brownie sundae is amazing. The brownie edges were a bit hard and chewy for my tastes but the center was perfection. It's possible my piece got a bit overcooked. Ice cream and toppings were generously portioned. Definitely worth a try. Overall the price is high but the quality and quantity are excellent. Absolutely worth a splurge.

They have all of the equipment, but nothing too fancy. I loved that you could use the hotel bikes to go into town. Or borrow kayaks whenever. The food was great at the inn. Coffee was available all morning right outside Stars (the restaurant). The tennis court wasn't in pristine condition (perhaps because in rained). And the rackets we were given were kids rackets (the one adult racket had a a broken string). But that's ok. Again, no big deal. The grounds were stunning. The flowers were beyond gorgeous. And people were always out there working on them- and it shows! I can't wait to come back!

We asked to be moved to the dining room. Staff was extremely rude and stuck us in the back in the dining room by ourselves and ignored us until we asked to be served. For $155 per person, we expected a much higher level of quality and service. The service throughout the meal was extremely slow, the food was mediocre at best, and the brunch setup felt confusing and underwhelming. There was a buffet for salads and sides, but then guests still had to select an entrée from a dinner-style menu in the middle of the day. The dessert buffet was nearly empty by the time we got there, and we ended up being served parfaits instead. They didn't even provide parfait spoons, and we had to ask for a knife just to scrape the bottom of the glass. The property itself is beautiful, but unfortunately the dining experience did not come close to justifying the price. We left feeling frustrated and disappointed, especially for a special occasion like Mother's Day.
