Wow! What an experience! I've heard of friends going to Breakers for many, MANY years but this was my first time working with them directly and I was blown away! I had just bought a new truck and was more than a little hesitant to have people tearing into it and customizing. I've seen so many bad installs and I'm really a perfectionist. I suppose I might be a nightmare customer for some shops, heh. The guys at Breakers (Tony and Carlos) helped me slowly pick through the many items I needed and explained how everything was going to be built and setup. They were absolute professionals. I never felt like they were trying to SELL me on anything. They both took time to really work out the smallest details and make sure that everything, in the end, would work perfectly. My truck when finished was so fucking clean it blew me away. The installs were perfection. Even the most complicated work was done carefully, and exceeded my expectations. I made the mistake of coming here without shopping around first because yelp usually never fails me. I came in here to get two things done. First was to buy a double din head unit from them and have it installed, and second to get a remote start kit I purchased myself installed. To purchase the double din radio and have it installed they charged $430. If I bought the unit myself and did the install it would have cost me like $200. This tells me that the markup here is really high or they charge way too much for labor. For the remote start kit, They wanted $250. I agreed since I was already there anyway but then they called and said they would have to charge an additional $100 for a relay to bypass the anti theft deterrent. What kind of relay costs $100? So I told them not to do it, got my car and got out. I got a quote the same day from Stereo One, and they said they could do the install for $100. Even if they charged me $50 for an unforeseeable relay, $150 (the going rate for an alarm with remote start install) is far cheaper than the $350 breakers was trying to charge me and that is about the price I paid for the last remote start I had installed on my previous car. So price aside, why am I giving them just one star instead of two? Well, there was a snafu during my radio install. I had specifically asked for a double din head unit, and the first time around they installed a single din unit. When the manager questioned the employee about how the mistake happened, rather than owning up to it he tried to throw me under the bus and put the blame on me instead. NOT COOL. Bottom line: if I could do it again, I would buy the headunit myself and shop around for the best price from reputable shops around the county. read more

I had a Joying 10.1" stereo installed on my Toyota Tacoma. Add ons such as steering wheel control retention were $100+ ended up basically paying $290 for "2 hours of work". Got my truck back and all the plastic trim hadn't been put back in place. Had a friend fix my steering wheel controls on the side for much cheaper. He noticed Whoever did my stereo forgot to put some bolts back in behind the stereo. read more

I came here got recommended by a friend my stereo wouldn't work it turned on when It wanted to and turn off when it wanted to , so I go in I asked them what they can do for me.They suggested to get a diagnostic it will cost $60 something dollars and whatever it is they can fix it they said it was the harness wiring was done wrong the tech guy rocky said he switch the wires to fix the problem after that called me to pick up my car So I asked if they can put a TR switch in because my Bluetooth wouldn't connect to my car correctly overall the next day I drove the car around My stereo still wouldn't work I told him they told me the day after come back next morning I wake up to take back my car wouldn't turn on , had several mechanics on the car to check it to make sure it wasn't a mechanic problem it wasn't car was perfect so I took it to the Chevy dealership find out the clip was broken a glued inside janky job first of all An it's a blown relay and a electrician to the exam computer in the car I called him up let them know they said they didn't mess anything up kept calling play cat an mouse with me saying they will call me back send off field technician I would have to pay for their time and everything else if it was therefore didn't want to help me out now I have to pay $1200 at Chevy to get a new ecm computer labor An An new relay fused An new wires GREAT NAME BREAKERS THEY BREAK YOUR STUFF ! 0 Stars read more

Over the years I've had my stereos, amps and subs installed as well as all my cars tinted there too. They have always done a great job and have treated me right. Thanks for all your hard work. Josh, Carlos, Chris and Ray are always on top of it. They recently fixed a problem I was having with an alarm that the previous car owner had installed somewhere else. I took it to several service centers and to the BMW dealership which could not find the problem even after having my car for several days. I should have taken it straight to Breakers but I thought it's a BMW maybe BMW should fix it since they have their computer system that helps them. They keep your money when you don't want service. Because they don't know what to do when they screwed up my father's car they charge him 300 for a stereo that he cannot use. If you're supposed to put in 3 cigarette lighter station and they charge $160 for a $15 and sent it was used to give his money back my father's just so you people know their state license has been suspended several times they do not have to operate and you're not supposed to have wires hanging onto the floor they hired does not I don't think anyone know or have the proper training I would give him no charge but you have to put something and public relations is when you sit there and falsify God that people love you no they don't like your business when you're going to rip them up I recommend that people go to a different Corporation appreciate the business read more

Best stereo shop in Oxnard and probably in the county. I first came here to buy a part for a diy stereo installation after Fry's ripped me off on a kit that was supposed to fit my car but didn't. A few months later I came to get my windows tinted and they came out great, no bubbles or streaks anywhere. I recently had new speakers installed and they again did not disappoint. UPDATE 2/06/19 My car was tinted over a year ago, and the tints still look brand new!! I've never seen tints last this long without them starting to bubble up or turn purple. I'm very impressed with the quality of the tints they used and the work they did. I got a lot for what I paid. The speakers are also almost a year old and I haven't had a single problem with them at all. I will continue to bring vehicles here as needed. Aftermarket stereo shops have a bad rap because some of them will rip you off and/or cut corners on their work. This shop isn't like that at all. read more

I had my windows tinted in my car by Breaker's stereo in 2005. I have a lifetime warranty on the tint. I lost the receipt but called them anyway. They still had my information in the computer! I made an appointment and was taken care of immediately. It took some time to remove tint and re-tint. I waited in their waiting room. They have wi-fi for their customers and they have Net Flix. It is a very clean waiting room and I found the experience hassle free. I will come back again. Their staff is so friendly. read more

I knew I wanted a new sound system, but i didn't know which one or what would be the best fit for me and my family car. Naturally i went to bestbuy to get an idea on the prices but wasn't very satisfied, as I was driving around running errands I noticed breakers. I went inside cluelessly to inquire about a sound system, I was immediately approached by Jen and she was so sweet and directed me the right way. BEWARE OF A BAD EXPERIENCE...Had an appt at 10:30am this past Sat for an installation that was set up by a company who sent their product to this shop. As I entered the shop I was not greeted with a "Good morning, how my I help you". I was approached by a guy named Tony and told him what I was there for. He proceeded to rudely tell me that they don't do this type of installation on Saturday's only Monday through Friday's but because they were called they would do the installation. I was made to feel like my need was a BURDEN . He then told me I was NOT A PRIORITY and my car would need to be left there at least until 3pm and made the comment it should be left all day. I proceeded to tell him if it was too much to install the device, I could certainly go elsewhere. I gave him the opportunity if I was not a PRIORITY I could somewhere else. Tony stated "no" it would cause the other company too much paperwork to start over. I left my key and walked out in utter shock at how I was treated. Then I remembered I had left something in my car and as I was walking to my car a nice young man stated " I will unlock it for you since I am taking your car back now to work on it? I was even more confused when he said your car will be done in about an hour. Is there no communication between these people??? Upon coming back in 90 mins Tony stated my car was ready. I asked for a manager ( who was not any better) and asked him why I was treated so poorly? He gave a half hearted apology. Tony never apologized for what he said and how he acted. He stated " my words were taken wrong"? How much clearer can "YOU ARE NOT A PRIORITY " be? I have never been treated so rudely by a business that I was paying money for their time. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS. FEEL FREE TO DO SO JUST KNOW THAT YOU MIGHT NOT BE A PRIORITY. I HOPE THE BIG BOSSES TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY read more
