I knew I wanted a new sound system, but i didn't know which one or what would be the best fit for me and my family car. Naturally i went to bestbuy to get an idea on the prices but wasn't very satisfied, as I was driving around running errands I noticed breakers. BEWARE OF A BAD EXPERIENCE...Had an appt at 10:30am this past Sat for an installation that was set up by a company who sent their product to this shop. As I entered the shop I was not greeted with a "Good morning, how my I help you". I was approached by a guy named Tony and told him what I was there for. He proceeded to rudely tell me that they don't do this type of installation on Saturday's only Monday through Friday's but because they were called they would do the installation. I was made to feel like my need was a BURDEN . He then told me I was NOT A PRIORITY and my car would need to be left there at least until 3pm and made the comment it should be left all day. I proceeded to tell him if it was too much to install the device, I could certainly go elsewhere. I gave him the opportunity if I was not a PRIORITY I could somewhere else. Tony stated "no" it would cause the other company too much paperwork to start over. I left my key and walked out in utter shock at how I was treated. Then I remembered I had left something in my car and as I was walking to my car a nice young man stated " I will unlock it for you since I am taking your car back now to work on it? I was even more confused when he said your car will be done in about an hour. Is there no communication between these people??? Upon coming back in 90 mins Tony stated my car was ready. I asked for a manager ( who was not any better) and asked him why I was treated so poorly? He gave a half hearted apology. Tony never apologized for what he said and how he acted. He stated " my words were taken wrong"? How much clearer can "YOU ARE NOT A PRIORITY " be? I have never been treated so rudely by a business that I was paying money for their time. I came to Breakers Stereo after getting prices from several shops around town on In-Dash Navigation Systems. Josh was eager to assist me as soon as I walked in the door. After a few moments, he searched his inventory and pointed out a system, the perfect system, at a greatly discounted price. Not only was the price hundreds less than I was quoted by his competitors, he also provided an additional store and military discount with flexible financing. This allowed me to walk out the door with more cash in my pockets, than I expected to leave with. Installation took no longer than an 1.5 hours, on a busy Saturday and I didn't even have an appointment. I was so satisfied with the service and assistance, that I brought in two friends that were desiring some upgrades to their vehicles. He quickly provided them, with exactly what they needed at a greatly discounted price, as well. Not even 2 months later, I came in looking to upgrade to HID headlight kit for my Jeep. Josh searched feverishly with all his vendors for the necessary kit, which he didn't have on hand. He setup an appointment, based on his expected delivery of the parts and unfortunately was not able to provide service on that date. One of his vendors wasn't able to get him the parts in a timely fashion and that usually would've ended my relationship with a business (based on not delivering on promises). However, Josh made it his priority to track down the part himself and reset our appointment for a week later. While the work was being performed, the following week, we encountered an additional part that would need to be used to regulate the power distribution in the vehicle. Not only did Josh fix the problem, but he also provide the part and prompt service for NO CHARGE AT ALL. It is not very often you meet a stand-up guy like Josh. I wish I could give 5 stars but the overall experience I received wasn't great. Josh is a cool guy who's helpful and willing to take the time to check out all the options. I bought a set of 32" tires for my Tundra and although the price was good, the service was horrible. The first issue I have is that they don't keep their word when promising to do things on time. I dropped off my truck at 11:00a to get 4 new tires put on and was promised to have it ready by 5:00p when I got off work. I ended up having to wait an extra hour until it was ready. Needless to say, I was late to a dinner celebration that was planned that night. I later found out that the balancing was off because my truck would shake if I drove it more than 60 mph. I learned the hard way by driving to Fresno on a business trip. When I returned from my trip, I asked Josh to have the tires re-balanced and if they can fit me in on my 1 hour lunch break. He said yes, even after I asked several times to confirm. I even asked if I should make an appointment to make sure the service is done on time. He told me I didn't need an appointment and it would only take a half hour to do the job. Apparently, that wasn't the case. I waited 40 minutes before they even brought my truck into the work area and they didn't seem to care that I was upset because my lunch break was about to end. My 1 hour lunch break ended up being 2 hours and I was given a hard time from my boss for being late. What totally sucked was that the balancing was still off so I had to take it to America's Tires to get it done right. They told me all 4 tires were off by a lot. My second issue is that I was told I didn't need spacers for my tires although it was an inch or two wider than the stock ones I had. While having some work done on my truck, my mechanic had it on a lift and noticed that the tires were rubbing against the suspension. He asked why I didn't have spacers installed and I told him I was informed I didn't need it. He showed me where it was rubbing and suggested I get spacers put on and to go back to where I got my tires installed. At this time, I'm not sure that's a good idea because Breakers will probably charge me a fortune, put the spacers on incorrectly, and won't have it ready on time as promised. UPDATE (12/28/17): Josh reached out to me to make things right. It's obvious that he cares about his customers otherwise, he wouldn't have responded to my post. I wasn't looking for a hand-out but Josh offered to correct the mistake. He pulled through and I was so impressed that I changed my rating to 5 stars! Thanks for handling business the right way Josh. Never get your windows tinted here. They left dust and air bubbles on ALL my windows. Even after taking my car back to get it redone, I received worse results. I'm just glad they use Formula One tint so I can take it to another dealer and get it redone for free. read more

Horrible service. Shoddy work and very unprofessional installation. Rats nests of wires. They didn't know how to hook up the bypass modules and other equipment. Bad buzzing and lied about functionality. After months of dealing with they to fix it I ended up doing it myself and it works like it was designed to do. My first vehicle, back in October of 2014, I had them install an MTX Jackhammer amp with a 10" Kenwood sub in my 96' 318ti hatchback. Price was $230, for something that in hindsight, was extremely easy and shouldn't have been that much, but hey, they did an "okay" job at best. They didn't even have the courtesy of laying down some double-sided tape or velcro strap(s) to stop my sub box from moving about in my trunk--however that being, at the time, my first sub-woofer added to my car, I just didn't know any better and so I dealt with it. It was only until I went to another shop, which I explain shortly, that I learned of such. Recently I purchased a newer vehicle, an E92 2010 335i with Logic 7. I came in hoping they would remember my face since I have distinctive curly hair, etc., didn't ring a bell (oh well, that's not really the point) and to quote me a price. I asked for a simple install and merely wanted to transfer my previous setup from my old vehicle to my new one. I don't know if it's because I got a "newer BMW" that the sales person thought I was Mr. Moneybags or what, but that was/is certainly not the case. I was quoted $350-$400 for simply an installation of an AMP & SUB! I might only have a rudimentary understanding of audio in general, but I know when I'm being ripped off. I stated I wanted to simply add my amp and sub without tampering with my OEM L7 speakers/amp. I was immediately met with "Oh, well your vehicle has Logic 7, meaning the sound is a lot more complicated. We have to remove the OEM Logic 7 Amp and rewire all the speakers to be powered by your MTX Amp". I didn't understand why all of that "unnecessary" work had to be done when all I wanted was for the bass line of my iDrive/Logic 7 to be tapped into for a little more kick in the trunk. I explained that was all I wanted done, essentially making it a "harness-piggyback" for the bass signal--nothing more & nothing less. Completely plug & play without touching the Logic 7 system. I was told that "that cannot be done, the signal has to be converted in order to work with the amp". Complete bullsh*t. I did some research online and quickly found that what I was looking for was a completely logical option and was relatively easy. So I shopped around and found a shop in Los Angeles (where my parents live) and had absolutely no issue with making the drive after I spoke with David at Six Autosound (in Korea town). Let it be known that this is in no way an advertisement for Six Autosound, but immediately as I arrived David listened to what I had to say and didn't try to talk to me in a condescending fashion, due to my limited audio knowledge, or coerce me into, as I was lead to believe, the only "option". Final Price at Six Autosound: $180 and very professionally done in my E92 (and I'm very anal about my baby) Looks clean & sounds great! Just as I anticipated, thank you David! There's a reason why they have 4.5/5 stars with over 100 reviews! So, you be the judge, nearly $400 or $180? These guys have a ONE from me because of the semi-decent work they did prior, otherwise it would be ZERO stars if possible. It was even cheaper than my 318ti that has a "far less complex speaker set-up". You guys just lost what was fixing up to be a loyal customer. But lying to my face to swindle more money out of me cost you not only a customer, but this review as well! Almost 2 years ago I went to Sounds Good on vineyard to get subs,amp and an epicenter, and I had multiple problems with the fuses getting blown under the hood. My fuse blew again and I took it first to stereo warehouse on Saviers to get it fixed. The guy on Saviers charged me 65$ for replacing a simple fuse that took him TEN MINUTES. I paid and turned my car on and all this smoke came out from my amp. Not only did I lose the 65$, I also lost my amp because he fried it.. thats when I decided to call BREAKERS.. I went in and they identified the problem immediately, simplified the steps for me, and took care of everything on Veterans Day. They were busy but still managed to follow up on me, and further inform me on what they fixed. I had my windows tinted here. The tint came out amazing, which is why my review is 3 stars instead of 2. First, I brought my car in one day at 3:00 for a tinting appointment. My friend picked me up, we went to dinner, left the restaurant about 5 and I got a phone call from Breakers at 5:15 stating that their machine broke and they weren't able to get to my car that day after all. They had had it for just over two hours and hadn't even touched it. They agreed to give me a discount (another reason they got 3 stars) if I re-booked. So I re-booked for 3 weeks from that date. When I came back, I called ahead to be sure they were on time, they told me they were 30 minutes behind, so I came in at 3:30 instead of 3:00. No problem at all, I was glad they were up front. I dropped the car off at 3:30 and was in their waiting area until 8:00 that night. It took 4.5 hours to tint the windows on my 4 door Honda. The quality of the tint and the discount they gave me saved it for me, but I wouldn't go back for tinting, it was just SUCH a hassle. read more

I will never take my son car there every again to BREAKERS..They did a shitty job on his led lights. We paid over $400 dollars and not even 3 month later his driver side low and high beam went out.. when I called to complain the lady on the phone said that it could be the electrical wire and if that was the case we would have to pay again to fix it when we took them the car it was working just fine. Before we breakers we left we notice that the inside light didn't want to turn off so we called one of the guys over and he said it could be the electrically day to bring it back in the morning we had to drive home with the light on inside.. all our electrical things were working fine until they put the led lights and back up camera.. the lady that I spoke to told me that our car was not new.. the car is a 2011 Ford Focus. I told her who gives a fk if it is new or not u should do your job right.. one of the headlight was brand new and they crack it when the guy screwed it back in.. they didn't want to replaces it or fix the problem they wanted us to pay again.. my son was so pissed that he said that they live up to their name BREAKERS they break but don't want to fix we made to appointment with them to see what was won't but my son was so pissed with that he didn't want to take his car back for them to look at it cause they wanted him to leave it there..my son took it to stereo one and when they look at at they said he lights were not installed right so he had to pay $140 more to get them done.. thank god stereo one only charged him for the lights and not for all their hard work that they did for him.. I've been here three or four times now. I've purchased everything from window tinting, two different audio systems, subwoofers, amps, off road LED light bars. This place is a one stop shop. It might take a little while to get the work done, but when you do quality work it takes a bit of time. The atmosphere is awesome, plenty of demos on speakers and a huge selection of rims/wheels on display. The waiting room has a big ass TV and cheap snacks. The people here are awesome as well. They will work with you and make sure you get what you want. I've already brought three vehicles two them, two of which I put a sub box in, both of which had to be built into extremely awkward places. I contacted breakers stereo and spoke with JENN (who claims is the owner) who appeared quite friendly at first. She quoted me $120 to remove old tint from all windows on my vehicle and to replace the tint for $180. When I took my vehicle in the same day, the male associate viewed my vehicle and quoted me $325 total, which was more than the initial quote. He also expressed the tint "wasnt in bad condition" and "should not be difficult to remove". He said that they can provide about 90% guarantee to be able to preserve the defogger. I was also told my vehicle would be done the following day by 2pm. I was contacted that night indicating that one of the windows was non operable, so they could not remove or re tint it. I was told they would have to see how much of a price difference it would be minus one window. I was contacted the following day by JENN at approximately 1pm to only quote me a higher rate of $350 all windows or $325 minus one. It felt as though they continued to pad onto the cost each time - even minus one window. I told Jenn I needed to get back to her. When I returned Jenns call by 1:20pm, I was told she was out to lunch and was then transferred to the tinter, who said he wanted to confirm that I was okay with him taking a razor blade to my rear window as he said he was instructed to do so to save time and get the job done quickly. He said it would not preserve the defogger. I was very upset over hearing this as this was not ever requested. I was told otherwise by the associates. The tinter said he had not even started the job at all and he is paid by the hour, etc. I then requested the manager as I was very unhappy with all that had gone on thus far. I expressed my frustration with the inconsistencies in the quotes and misleading information I had been given. He was very customer friendly and apologetic. He said he understood and would honor to have the work done for $300 total. He also assured me that they would do their very best to attempt to preserve the defogger and also do quality work. I agreed to allow him to proceed at that rate of $300 minus one window. 30 mins later, I received a call from JENN who was very rude and she then expressed that the work would not be done for anything less than $325 and that she's instructed all of her associates to not accept less than $325 from me. I expressed my frustration to her over the inconsistencies and lack of credibility. JENN denied having instructed the tinter to take a razor blade to my rear window to save time, however she said she is almost 99% certain he would need to take a razor blade to my rear window because the tint is "so old". This is the first time having heard this from any associate there. She said she needed to confirm if I wanted job done at the rate or $325 or otherwise I can pick up my vehicle. JENN said she would text me and she would need my confirmation and agreement in text to begin the work at $325. JENN said they would not begin the work until I text back a confirmation and that if so, the work would be done the following day by 6pm. I responded with "Do not proceed with any work. I will pick up my vehicle before 6pm today ". JENN then responded claiming that I verbally agreed and that they started on the sides and the work already done was $50. JENN then claimed that she let me know verbally that they would begin the work and she would send me a confirmation text. This was completely inaccurate and I have her initial text message to prove this. I felt railroaded into having to pay for something I did not authorize the work on at the rate of $325 although I had specifically requested via text that they not proceed with the work. JENN wasnt forthcoming about much of what she said/claimed and NOT at all customer friendly. She most certainly twisted her words more than once. Even the manager Carlos displayed much more class, humility, integrity and professionalism than JENN herself. Please, please BEWARE... And if you decide to have ANY work done at this business, be sure to get everything in WRITING. read more

My name is Jeff N. I stopped by Breakers mobile electronics in Oxnard to get a price to remove a bracket that was attached to the dash (work done by best buy). It used to have a Sirius radio head attached to that bracket, and since I don't use Sirius anymore I didn't need the bracket. I would have done it myself, but part of the dash had to be removed to undo some of the bolts. Anyways, I wanted the bracket out (cause it was ugly!). I spoke to Matt at Breakers and he told me that his shop would take it out for FREE! Wow what customer service. In less than 5 minutes the bracket was gone and my dash looked as if it had never been there. I would highly recommend Breakers to everyone, great service, professionalism, clean shop. I purchased an Amazon Local voucher for window tinting. The voucher was offered as follows: $68 ($139 value) for three rear windows $89 ($179 value) for five windows I purchased the $89 five windows tint, assuming that would cover the two front windows and the three rear windows, as any average consumer would conclude (particularly given the way the ad was worded). Nope. Breakers pulled a classic bait and switch. They told me my normal 4-door Ford sedan actually had 9 windows! Apparently, they count the tiny side windows that are a part of each window (none of that is disclosed in the Amazon ad). Those extra "windows" will be $15 per window. On top of that, they told me the Amazon Voucher tint is very bad quality and "will turn purple." What? They said I can upgrade to their "double layer tint" that will not turn purple for $199! The Amazon ad states Breakers is, "The only Formula One window tinting dealer in the area." Apparently, Formula One window tinting turns purple! Needless to say, I did not schedule an appointment with Breakers and I promptly informed Amazon of this shady business. Thankfully, Amazon is a company that stands behind their offerings, and they refunded me the purchase price of the voucher without incident. Be wary of this business. read more

So disappointed... breakers Stereo was my go to place wen I needed my system upgraded until now... I went to get my system upgraded and they helped me out with no problem took care of me to do everything to make sure I get the system from them....I left there a happy camper with new system... few months go by and I noticed my amp had broken off on one side from where they mounted it... took it in they looked at it and told me they couldn't do much cause it was physical damage... when I asked them how that was physical damage they couldn't explain it they tried saying I must of bumped it wen I moved the box around... I argued that it couldn't be that I told them my box doesn't even reach the spot where the amp was mounted they said they don't now how but it was physical damage.... at the end they told me they could fix it by making a bracket and reattaching the amp... once they where done I seen it was mounted and working so I said that's fine as long as it works... few months go by then I noticed my amp cutting out a lot... looked at my amp and noticed it fell again but this time it was the whole amp... took it in and the guy told me that it was still under warranty that they fix it... told him about what they told me the last time I took it in for the same reason and he said that wasn't right... I left the car there and picked it up a few hrs later... was told it was fixed and was good to go... once I looked at my amp I noticed it was the same amp but mounted with new brackets they made there... left with my car only to find out later that my system would still cut out... called them the next day and was asked if I can come in Saturday cause they where busy I said ok... went in the next day and talked to josh... he said they'll look at it and took it in they worked on it for a few hrs while I waited... came back and told me it was fix and shouldn't cut out... he also told me that the box wasn't a ported box and that might be the issue cause I'm over working the amp in the box I have it in... (back when I first got the system I talked to the sales guys and asked what's the difference between the boxes and he said only difference was that one would give me extended bass and the other wouldn't but that both boxes where good boxes for the speakers... that's what the sales guy had told me) so now back to the resent stuff... josh had said I should replace the box ASAP so it won't mess up my amp... I left the store with my car and notice my bass was very low compared to wen I first got my system... when I higher up the system to get more bass I noticed that it cut out again... went back the next day and talked to tony... he took my information down and said he will talk to his boss josh and get back at me Monday... they called back and asked me to take it in which I did... once there they called the person in that was gonna work on it and I can over hear them talking.. the guy was saying he help the last guy work on it and couldn't figure it out and that it might be a problem with the amp... he said they told josh but that josh never said anything about it on Saturday... they took it back to check it... after a few minutes they asked me to connect my phone so they can see what I'm talking about so I did... once they guy seen wat I was talking about he made some adjustments and some other stuff then told me to try it again so I did... the bass didn't cut off again and the system sounded ok there... but once I left I noticed my system didn't bumb the same as wen I first got it... it sounds a lot lower... just sucks cause wen I first got it I told them I wanted to bump loud and they said that that was wat I was getting... it did for a bit but now after it fell it don't bump the same and it gets me mad cause if I wanted to bumb that low I would of bought a smaller amp and woofers... ... the whole time they worked on it I kept mentioning how I never had that issue until it fell but I feel like no one acknowledged me... I don't think I will go back there again which sucks cause that's the only place I would go to even though people said they over charge there... I was even thinking of upgrading my speakers again to some bigger ones...if I can give 0 stars I would but yelp only allows the lowest to be a 1.... By the way my system still cuts out after the last time they fixed it.... it sucks cause I paid hard earned money on this all so it can go to waste with the equipment I got from here... they got their money out of it and I got a system that doesn't work... I feel ripped off I don't recommend anyone waste their money here they just out to rob people is the way I feel about this whole situation.... thanks for nothing Breakers Stereo.... read more

I wanted give a special thank you to all the staff members and especially Carlos @ Breakers for creating my dream surround sound system. They are very welcoming and very optimistic. The restrooms are always clean and the waiting room is very comfortable. I also love that they are so kid friendly. I cruise all along Oxnard and Ventura and always get complimented on how clear the music sounds. Im looking into getting more features from Breakers:) I'm super excited:) read more

They did a good job on my stereo and window tinting and that's why they got a 3 star but they lost two stars for poor customer service. We had a lot of promises of when things would be done and bottom line is that they were not done in those times and I had to bring my car back a few times. I understand things happen but felt like they had an " I don't care attitude ". I wouldn't go back or recommend them to anyone. read more

Had a 9am appointment for window tinting. Arrived 8:55am and they took me right in and got started. Said car would be ready at 11:00am. Nice waiting room with comfortable couches, working big screen LCD, and WiFi throughout store. In addition, some seats outside and Wifi outdoors accessible. Car was ready at 11:15 and guy explained care for window tint. Nice staff and good place. read more
