I was visiting from the Bay Area seeing family in Oxnard on June 1-5, 2025. I had on my to do list to get my speakers fixed in my 2002 Toyota Solara convertible which came up in a conversation with my oldest brother over breakfast. He said we should stop by Breakers Stereo & Performance and see what they could do. We showed up around 11 am on June 4th and approached the desk of two reps both occupied at the time. Once one was available, I told him that one of my speakers was out and wanted to get them replaced. He asked me the year and make of my car and then we went out to the car to show him the radio console so he could visually assess what they could do. What started out as speaker replacement conversation turned into looking at new Stereo options that would replace my current radio/CD/Cassette player. I decided to go with an upgrade JVC version to replace the JBL radio/CD/Cassette option that gave me a screen with all the bells and whistles including a camera option for parking which I did not have and a USB adapter for my IPhone so I could play all my music playlists. My rep told me it would take 3-4 hours for the new installation of the speakers, Stereo, Camera and adapter plus standard labor. I was beyond impressed how fast it all went. The Car was ready later in the afternoon at 4 pm so I was very pleased. Labor was half the cost of the total cost for the overall stereo speaker upgrades with 1 year warranty. Fortunately for me pulling out the old stereo and fitting in the new stereo/screen was a perfect fit. I am happy and thanked the overall team present for bringing my 2002 car up to 2025 standard of benefits of a new car. My car is not electric but I have no car payment and now I can drive with much more confidence and pleasure listening to the music that makes me happy. The drive back to Oakland was sooo much better listening to my tunes. I would recommend anyone with an older car to go into Breakers and look at the options to replace your stereo and get the camera for parking. Well worth the option. There is plenty of parking onsite and the stereo options are there for you to choose from the JVC to Pioneer. They have a waiting area with flatscreen and coffee if you need to wait. There is also Dominics Italian restaurant next door to get a beer and pizza with full Italian cuisine menu. read more

SERVICE: My partner in crime had a stereo replaced in his car. I think they did an ok job. It took three visits to get it right. However, allow us to acknowledge we got there. For me, what bothered me was listening to the humming whenever there was not any music playing. Perfect example is when you put two wires together and it gives that static or buzzing sound as if it's trying to connect. Or think of speakers that are plugged into the wall but not the stereo/device and it too would give a static sound if you turned it up. That's what I kept listening to EVERY TIME I would get in that car. My issue was, how could you not hear that upon returning the car? Again, it's fine now and I am thankful. Just can't wrap my finger around something so painfully obvious. Oh! And the back-up camera was painfully off. We adjusted it ourselves. WELL: I don't know. He may return, but, not so sure about my car. read more

The original stereo I had installed was defective and ended up killing my battery. It took 3 or 4 return trips and I got a different brand installed at no added cost. Each return trip they were or at least appeared helpful. Some of the features they assured me it has it doesn't. Like my old stereo which was the factory original if you set up your presets just hit the toggle on the steering wheel and it goes to them. Not this one, it just goes to the next one that comes in. It did take some you tube searches to get the Google map to stop screaming at me. Yup I was told the volume button controls that, you have to use 2 hands to set the voice volume. All said and done I have a 12 month warranty so if any issues I will be back. Don't let my bad experience deter you, they did make good on it. I just wish it didn't take so many returns and everything I asked was disclosed from the start. read more

Got my LED ambient lighting installed here along with footwell, storage and handle lighting. The results were amazing and they were confident and knowledgeable in doing the install. Now that I have a problem, I checked the RECENT reviews. I'm not the only angry customer. In hindsight, I really wish I didn't risk them installing anything in my car. Carlos seems really nice but then Breakers tried to install a used stereo as new then they gaslight me refusing to return my money. Then finally, they said they would refund me only to keep 25% for restocking fees plus "labor," keeping 50%!!!!!! Holding my money hostage!!!!!! To top it off, I found out what they actually do about their toys for tots. They gather toys, yes, but keep some for their family members, disguised as being part of the program. This whole business is a scam! I bet after I post this, they are going to post a raving review to make up for all their poor reviews or say some excuse to try to defend this post. Such scammers! I've had such a bad experience with this business. It's not professional at all, and I've been dealing with them for a little over a week to have a device installed in my vehicle and they failed to communicate to a third-party I was going through and the manager, Tony has shown me throughout the whole week that he's very unprofessional. He flirts with his assistant Jasmine, who is in the front. She's constantly on her phone, but when he walks in, they start flirting they touch each other's hand very sexually and it makes me feel very uncomfortable and again it shows no professionalism in this business. I remember riding around with a broken antenna on my Toyota 4Runner for months and didn't think to hit up Breakers Stereo to get it fixed. I had previously come here to get a stereo system with thumps in my Honda Accord when I first graduated high school, and then in my Honda Accord while in college. Both times Josh recommended the best systems for my budget and had his instillation guys do a flawless job on my cars. Well now back to my 4 Runner. I hit up Josh to see if he could fix my antenna and without hesitation he said to bring it by and drop it off and they would have it done by the end of the day. The price was reasonable and the amount of time it took to fix my antenna was minimal. Also, the clock on my dash was also smashed in and broke and he had them fix it free of charge. This place has 0 return policy, so if you are not sure if an item like a stereo or speakers fit just DO NOT BUY HERE. I purchased a 2 sets of speakers and a double Din Stereo. Upon installation realized front speakers were not the size they gave me, so I came back to return just the set that did not fit. The customer service rep said he would give me store credit, but not a refund. Speakers were new in box not at all damaged 100% as I got it from them. Any other place like Best Buy has an actual return policy. Never going back to Breakers Stereo again. Would not recommend at all. read more

I love these guys! If you take your vehicle to them they can get the job done...and done very well. They also check their work to make sure everything is working correctly before giving your car back to you. They offer very reasonable prices for their systems and installation work. My stereo wasn't producing any sound from my speakers for about a month...and I have kids. Took car to dealership and they wanted $4000.00 to fix my stereo. Breakers stereo had installed my DVD Player in my car when no one else could do it for me so called them up. Victor was so thorough and efficient. He got my A/C working properly and hooked up a way way better stereo than my stock stereo. They made sure that everything was working and they cost so so so much less than the dealership. Now we're paying big bucks on issues not related to having entertainment system, installed. Two weeks of frustration. I took in my brand new vehicle to breakers to upgrade the sound system as it came with Toyota's stock sound system. It was a must to have the sound system upgraded as my daughter who is special needs loves music and she loves it loud, and this is her transport vehicle. However, I was hesitant to take it in as I've had bad experiences with other shops. I expressed my concerns and my needs to Josh and team, they quickly brainstormed a solution. They went over it with me to ensure I was comfortable with their idea. I approved and prayed for the best outcome. Once installed my husband picked up the vehicle, parked it in our drive way, brought my daughter out and sat her in the vehicle seat and turned on the sound system. What a great experience I had with jasmine representing this company! I found this company by watching their YouTube videos and learning what I can expect from each brands speaker sound differences. There video actually had great sound quality! I've been around a lot of different speaker brands. For me I quickly knew which speakers to go with and when I installed them, it was the match made in heaven. I ended up going with the Blam signature series. Components up front and coaxial in the rear. These were installed in my 2023 Taco. Jasmines recommendation on going with the coaxial signatures in the rear was a great recommendation and I'm happy I trusted her. These replicate instruments very precise all around the music genre! I also paired these with AudioControl amps which I also bought from Jasmine. The amp has a digital sound processor which is a must if you are wanting the best sound stage and time alignment. also definitely spend the money on sound deadning. Back to my transaction, Jasmine answered all my question and included some pointers for me when I was installing my equipment. I'm in Illinois but, if I had there store here. I would have let them install it. We don't have a well none company out here that I trusted. Lastly and to me this was huge! Jasmine contacted me two weeks later to see how everything went and I enjoyed speaking with her to say I was completely happy and thanked her for everything she did! read more

I went in and purchased a stereo, subwoofers, amplifier and some other parts I needed for my car they had to special order two subs with the box and a kit I payed Cash not any financing at all since they didn't have the subs in stock I decided to install everything till the Subs arrived, in those two days I sold my car so went in to get a refund because I don't have the car anymore but they still charged me a restocking fee for the subs/kit and not the other parts because they had them there already. I Never signed the paper and was made to sign the Restocking paper to get my Money back. 30% Restocking fee. With that being said I would Never take my business there again.
