Install was ok, biggest issue I had was that I asked them to wire my setup a certain way, and didn't end up wiring all the speakers. Instead of confirming with me, they didn't wire in all speakers (door mid bass fill). I went to pick up my car and asked if there was anything left, to which they replied no it should be in the car itself. I supplied all materials, and was in a rush so I trusted everything would be inside. Didn't see the rest of my cables, or any additional fuses/ fuse box holders/ 0 gauge to 4 gauge terminal downsizers so I assumed everything had been installed. I come to find out that they DID indeed have extra boxes and things left over but had been thrown out per their discretion. This was installed on Saturday, and they did not open on Sunday so I had to call back on the next week. ALL my things were thrown out and I had been told there was nothing else. Car sounded horribly unoptimized, regardless of a cookie cutter eq they put of unbalanced bass/mids/highs. Didn't bother to set gains on subwoofer, didn't bother setting proper HPF/LPF settings on 4 channel they were installing, did NOT replace the small 4 GA CCA wire that I had mentioned i want to 0 gauge OFC wire, and still had the attitude to tell me that the reason why they didn't wire in the mid bass speakers on the door was because of "poor output" and that "the subwoofer was going to sound louder so why bother". On top of that, I had to pay an additional $70 for them to wire them in after initial $400 setup fee and an extra $40 for Y- adapters to place on RCA from head unit. Overall, poor communication, will not come in for further work and I suggest you visit elsewhere for your audio needs. I feel robbed of coming to this place. read more

They installed a viper alarm on my bmw. Honestly I would never recommend them to anyone. I had to spend 1,000's of dollars after leaving here on repairs because they did t install my alarm properly. The next day my water pump was malfunctioning. The same day I had to go to the auto parts store and buy a new battery. Now it's been more than a year. Both my front and rear head light and tail light stay on if my alarm is set off. I live here in Oxnard every single car or motorcycle that drives by sets off the car alarm. So now every single day I get to go outside and see one of my head lights is stuck on and or now one of my tail lights is stuck on. They had the wrong fuses installed in the wrong spots. It took me awhile to find that problem. Honestly they are terrible so not go here if you have a nice car. Just don't fucking do it. read more

Was going to take it in but figured I'd trouble shoot it first. Horrible job... All they did was strip wire and wrapped camera wire to existing wire. I got my backup camera done at this place and I was satisfied. I felt the price was fair when I was quoted over the phone and despite walking in on Saturday I was able to get my camera installed by the afternoon. When I got there I wasn't being upsold on anything else. It was just a simple and easy time for me. After I got home I noticed my trunk wasn't closing as snuggly with the thunk it used to have. After some investigation I realized the rubber portion of the trunk that needed to be removed for the camera installation was not properly reinstalled. It wasn't a big deal, I inserted it back in and everything was perfect. Despite the hiccup I would come here again for any future needs. read more

Called stereo 1 to see if they can install my sub amp and 6x9 speakers yesterday, the install is today so far so good, good customer service from Matt. I'll update after the install is done too see how it ends up. My cars is 2010 Prius getting 12" Skar SDR RP800.id amp and 2 SK 69 They gave me a free back up cam so thats cool Update* So everything sounds good the bass is kicking and the 6x9s sound loud and clear. The back up camera works perfect with the alpine ilx-w650 screen they even placed the mic for the Bluetooth in a good location. Matt was always texting me to keep me updated. When i picked up the car he showed me how to use the apple car play and played a song to make sure it sounded good. Major shout out to the installer (didn't get his name) he tuned the amp nicely! I think the biggest thing are the prices and clear information they will tell you exactly what every part is for and how much they cost. Overall I'm satisfied definitely going to return in the future when I sell my Prius so they can take my sick sound system out so i can keep it. read more

My back up camera stopped working suddenly and I took it back to Stereo 1 who had previously installed it about 8 months ago. It's my work truck and I'm always throwing heavy things in the back. I had accidentally severed the wiring harness. The guys took it right in and replaced the entire wiring harness. When I asked how much, they said don't worry about it! The guys at Stereo 1 are great! They are polite, professional, honest and very efficient. I wanted to upgrade my crappy stock stereo so I bought a new stereo unit and door speakers from Best Buy. I planned to have Best Buy install it also, but their customer service was horrible and I couldn't even get them to answer the phone after calling repeatedly for days, so I couldn't even make an appointment! So I researched here on Yelp to find a reputable independent installer and found Stereo 1. They answered their phone, gave me a quote instantly and didn't care that I bought the stereo at Best Buy. They ordered the parts my install needed ahead of time and when I showed up for my appointment they actually finished the job an hour and a half ahead of schedule! Despite the fact that I bought the stereo elsewhere they still walked me out to my car to give me a hands-on lesson on how to use my new stereo, which included bluetooth connectivity. They walked me through the steps on my iPhone and everything! Not only did they give me amazing customer service, do an excellent install job and show me how to use the bluetooth, the final price was actually less than their original estimate! How often does that happen? Never. I fully expected the $150 estimate to somehow turn into $175, but instead it only cost $130. Do yourself a favor and read all of their "filtered reviews" at the bottom of their page. I will never understand why Yelp hides business' reviews (they do it to my business also) but I think it's just as important to read those also. Other businesses came up when I searched who had higher star ratings, but only 4 or 5 reviews total, including the filtered reviews. Stereo 1 had a slightly lower overall rating but when you look at their hidden reviews there are about 25 or so 5-star ratings from happy customers! In my opinion from my experience with Yelp, if you don't pay to advertise, they conveniently hide most of your favorable reviews and knock you down in the search results. Go figure. $10 bucks says this review gets filtered! Anyway I can't recommend Stereo 1 enough. They are very knowledgable and professional. Enough said..... read more

I came to Stereo 1 to look at my headlights because the last person that worked on them didn't to them right and I've been without lights for about a month. Have a bad experience with so called lighting stores I gave Stereo 1 a chance since they did have a tech on sight and they had all the equipment. I have a newer BMW so any type of luxury car are going to be tricky on trying to get the error's out of the car. The time to install all the equipment was great and also there was no re-work that had to be done. When I mean re-work they got the job done the FIRST time. I was surprised when they did lighting but even more impressed that they gave me an error free or malfunction free HID lighting system. The tech that does lighting knows what he's doing and does great work. I can't thank Stereo 1 enough and the team for getting me my lights working again. If you have a BMW or any luxury car and need a converted HID system and to get rid of those damn halogen lights this is the place to go. I had called around to different shops in Oxnard to help with removing a camera/tracking system we have in our company trucks. Matt answered here and out of all the shops was very willing to help the same day. He was very respectful, knowledgeable and honest. My employee took it to their shop around 5pm and the my took care of it immediately. We are trying to get information about how these Teletrac systems are messing our trucks up and Matt was willing to email and send us information on how they were not wired correctly.. Ok so for starters I used to install car stereos and equipment. I am just too old and lazy to do a "Clean" job. I went to several stereo places in Ventura and Oxnard and all were pretty decent with the exception that everywhere else they always tried to get me to "upgrade" or "let's run your credit" before I even picked anything out??? So Stereo 1 was the fourth place I went to and right off the bat customer service (which I'm big on) started with good morning how can I help you? (Anthony) was non pushy and very informative (him not knowing I used to install) I asked him a bunch of questions and he never lost his patience. I brought my own amp and after showing him what I had already and what I wanted, he gave me several options. After talking prices for a 12" Sub, door speakers, and hooking it all up. We (notice I said we) came up with the most realistic option within my budget. They saved me well over $200 on average from the "other" places. So much so that I decided to buy an alarm with the money I saved. Needless to say they "HOOKED" me up at a great price. My ride is an older Honda and looks completely stock, except that it BUMPS and kicks ass! Well balanced lows and highs. Didn't half to overdo it and received exactly what I wanted, a loud, bumping, low pro system. And well protected now by Viper with aux option that pops my trunk, option for remote start but but will add that later. Thanks Mike and Anthony, you made it easy for me to get what I wanted at a great deal. *****UPDATE***** 12/9/17 So the next time I went back to take my 2006 Ford F-150 to install an Amp, Two Subs, and upgrade my door speakers. After a few weeks my stereo kept turning off by itself, and randomly come back on. And my powered pedals no longer work? So I take the truck back and they check "everything". After a short conversation "Brian" I believe (I called him Mike before?) he tells me that Kenwood stereos are known for that and wouldn't listen to me anymore, to the point he started talking over me. I asked to please stop and allow me to talk. And after two or three words he does it again and says "it's the stereo, trust me I've been doing this for over 25 years" and gives me the number to the Kenwood repairs. Ok so not happy but I left, and decided to start looking for a new head unit. Well after 4-5 long drives without bumps I became upset and thought to myself "I'm going to check it myself". Today while driving to Altadena CA I stopped for gas and pulled out the center council so I can reach under the stereo to the wires. So I move them around a little and "BAM!" Power is back on and bumping! So I move it again, Power goes out, now I move it to where it where it works and somewhat wrap the wires so it works. I decide to go by Stereo 1 where they advertise "We do it right the first time!" On the radio a lot. And after briefly speaking to the owner and tell him what happened, he says no problem we will look at again. So "Brian" comes out and says "we checked that last time, didn't we?" And I responded well I wonder how many times you've been wrong in 25 years and made people buy new stereos? So the owner after a short talk behind closed doors with "Brian" like the Family Guy Dog but not as smart. The owner tells me, "my guys are eating lunch right now, we'll get you in as soon as there done." 20 minutes later nothing. So I say... "I've been driving around like this for over two months and your going to make me wait?" Mind you they only had 1 car in the bay. So I left and don't know if it's worth going back. I have lots of pictures and videos of proof regarding the stereo not working, just Incase no one believe me. Way to go guys! After sending my friends and family your way for business? Do not go here... I went in to fix my car's head lights. Well the second day after getting them fix one of them went out, i took it back about 5 times I waited about a week to get it replaced. Turns out my car a Benz does not detect the light system they installed and keeps giving an error message, the guy there had no idea on how to fix that or what type of light to use with this type of car and told me to come back in a few months and wait until he gets a machine that will tell him what is wrong????? On top of that I asked if he could fix one of the fog lights. He did fixed it but after a day it went bad again. I paid for all this services and asked for top quality products. It is clear to me that this place is not honest and do little to nothing... I had and still having a horrible experience with this place. DO NOT VISIT THIS PLACE. read more

Brought my wife's 2019 Chevy Silverado in for some AMP side steps. The customer service was fast and simple. Matt was able to order in the side steps and get them in the following morning. ZERO STARS - BUYER BEWARE! We bought my daughter a classic (old) first car and she said the radio didn't work and we were like, good fewer distractions for a new driver but as a graduation present she received a nice Bluetooth enabled one off her wish list. I found a Groupon for Stereo 1 and thought, great I'll get it installed for her as a birthday surprise. Well, first red flag was the install parts fees of $100 on top of the $100 installation fee. I've priced the parts online and they are $35 on Amazon. Then, almost 2 hours after the install started, I get a call saying the car doesn't have front speakers and it will be an additional $100 to purchase and install the speakers. When I asked for a minute to think about it, I was pressured into a "Yes or No, I need the bay!". All and all we are taking $300 for a radio in a car we paid $1200 for. NOT HAPPENING! Left with out new speakers but unit installed. DO NOT GO HERE FOR AN INSTALLATION TOTAL RIP OFF read more

The job was done very quick and clean. When the product proved to be defective... the GPS did not have United States maps installed...( no fault of stereo 1).
