Very unpleasant experience when visiting earlier this Nov.
The outdoor patio attracted us to this place, so we went in. I wasn't sure if were ordered at the register to then go sit outside, or if we went to sit outside and waited for a waiter, so I asked. The response was extremely abrupt as if i was crazy to ask and basically insinuated in an impolite manner that i should order first. I ignored the rudeness because i was on vacation and went about my business, but this went on.
The head cashier was extremely rude from the start. When asking about beer prices, the cashier informed me that all beers were six dollars while inferring that I should have known this already through some form of mind reading. Hence, there are no prices for beer are located on menu that I could see.
I went inside after choosing a seat outside, to order for my friend and I.. My first question was if he had fresh juices. He told me "no". I then asked him if he had any juices at all, and he answered all the juices he had in a row (very fast). Mind you, there was no one in line behind me, so i wasn't bothering anyone. I proceeded to order.
I have been vegetarian for over 24 years so i asked if it was possible to have the tacos minus the chicken (or fish i cant remember) but with rice instead. He looked at me like i was insane. I explained the reason, and continued to look at me with eyes that would eat me alive if he could.. i was clearly bothering him. He said "i dont know". I was taken a back and i said, "what do you mean, you dont know?! i understand if you charge me for that - (eventhough technically meat costs more money) but i would need to know if i can have rice or not in the tacos". He very coldly barked that his staff (cooks) were busy and he wouldnt ask them for any special favors. I looked at him, i looked at them (litterally right behind him) and i said, well can i ask them? (because clearly.. insinuating he could not ask them to put the rice in tacos was insane). Anyway, he was more mad with this comment and said he would put in the order and "we would see how it comes out". I let it go again.. but then the cherry on the top: I ordered for my friend. Whatever she was having (i forgot by now) came with potatoes OR fruits. I wasn't sure what she wanted (and again there still wasnt anyone in line behind me) so i asked him if i could run out quickly and ask her (she was right outside the door). He refused and said i have to choose. I said ok, i chose potatoes. When i went back outside, (a minute later) my friend said she preferred fruit if possible so she went in to ask and he barked at her apparently! By this time, she had not yet had my version of what happened.. so she was coming to him with a "clean slate" so to speak.. anyway he told her it was impossible to switch from potatoes to fruit for a plate that had not yet been made or served... ! very good customer service.. it was basically the will to annoy customers..
One of his servers came to our table for i dont know what, so i discreetly asked him if he could stick the rice i paid for in the tacos and he said no problem (very sweet) but my friend did not bother to ask him to do fruit.
In the end, the food was ok (i'm not saying that because the owner was rude); nothing more. That said, the way this guy treated my friend and i AND his staff.. was unacceptable. I regretted having stayed for lunch.. i will never go back again.. I am often in Stinson Beach and i can assertively say : NEVER AGAIN! he doesnt deserve it! read more
