Wow!!! What an amazing set of escape rooms at the Grand Sierra Resort. We had family visiting staying at GSR and ended up doing not one but two escape rooms during their weekend stay, because we had such a blast with the first one! The Escape rooms are located on the lower level of the GSR near the arcade area. But when you walk in the doors you feel like you are in a whole different place on its own. They have outfitted the space as an old timey, kind of eerie (in a good way) hotel. It really looks amazing! Even the super friendly staff are dressed to impress in their hotel costumes. They have several different escape room experiences, we chose the Sorcerer and the Fountain of Hope one for our first escape room and then the Centurion Heist for the second one. The rooms were incredibly done with realistic sets and props, very very elaborate. And it's not just one room, there are multiple rooms you go through, once you find the keys that is! I won't give any details because I don't want to give away all the fun extras and props, but suffice it to say, the four of us adults were so impressed with the rooms!! Both escape rooms we did were super different and super fun and CHALLENGING!! We chose the standard play, instead of expert. And we (4 adults) didn't even make it through the Sorcerer room, we ran out of time! The Heist we JUST completed it right as we ran out of our 1-hour allotted time. The puzzles and theming are very well done and a fun challenge! The game masters we had were both excellent and helped out with a few clues as we got really stumped. Very friendly and helpful staff! Orion and Bella were our game masters for separate reservations, and they were awesome! Orion made our experience super fun by being in character of the escape room, and giving us a riddle as our hint when asked for help. Bella was very nice and pleasant the entire time, communicating with us often and helping elevate our experience in the escape rooms. This was, by far, the worst escape room experience we've had in Reno. Clues that didn't make sense, broken parts. We didn't finish and the puzzle master came in and was blah about telling us what we'd missed. How this place has 5 stars we have no idea. I'd love to give 0 stars for this experience. A waste of $89. There are far better escape rooms in this town. read more

The Centurion Heist OMG!!!! Sooooo much fun. Me and a group (4 total) took on the challenge. We didn't make it out but we were really close. We chose the standard level. I couldn't believe I had to really crawl on the floor to get through the lasers. I thought the lasers were hypothetical I didn't actually think it would be in the game. Be prepared to maneuver through the lasers like Tomb Raider. :-) We had a good time and the employees were nice. Be prepared to lock up your belongings. Yes! No phones or smart watches. No cheating. I would say they should provide a flashlight because the rooms were a bit dim and my eyes aren't what they use to be. Reasonably price too. Can't wait for the next challenge. And plan ahead and book online. read more

Highly disappointed with the customer service. As another reviewer has stated, they allowed me to book an escape room during a day/time when Hot August Nights was happening and parking was impossible to find even after arriving early. They did not provide the option to reschedule or provide a refund. Instead, a staff member called me to notify me they sent out an email at 7 AM regarding the possibility of not finding parking. The staff member also told me they do not offer refunds or rescheduling options. Will definitely have to think twice about returning to this place after this experience. read more

I didn't realize the Escape Room was called Break Through Reno so I couldn't figure out how to check in last night (oops!). I came with a group of mom friends for a mom's night out and we had a fantastic time/experience! The location is easy to find on the first floor (pool level) of the casino/resort across from Fun Quest. When I arrived there was a bit of a snag with one of our girls being charged multiple times, but they were quick to figure it out and get it resolved. The front room has a few chairs to sit in while you wait. It's dimly lit which gives it an eerie vibe but very fun. Before we went into our room we were given a drawer to lock away personal items (phones, purses, etc.) and then were handed the key. We did the U-Boat Room and it was an absolute blast! We were told what we can and can't touch and other parts to ignore as we were not completing the "expert level." Staff were quick to offer clues when asked and very kind the whole time. We were told only 30% of people make it out of this room and we got to join that number! We made it out with 13 minutes and 42 seconds to spare! Overall it was a wonderful experience and I would love to come back and try the expert level and the other rooms! read more

We have done several escape rooms around the country while traveling, however this was our first visit to Break Through Reno @ the GSR Casino. Outstanding game that we played with another couple. It was definitely a challenge and we had to work to figure out the solution. Our Moderator Jocilyn was fantastic. She explained the rules and background of the game, and then only got involved a few times when we requested a clue. I would highly recommend The Centurion Heist as an excellent choice for a fast paced hour of fun. Well worth the admission and we'll try another Break Through adventure next time we are in Reno. read more

The rooms are well designed and fun to get through. They aren't really designed with kids in mind which is a shame considering the hotel caters to so many families. However, there's always at least 1 room that's well lit with no blood or skeletons so that young kids can tag along and experience the escape. We did the "sorcerer and the fountain of hope" and it was really scary for my 6yr old but fun to get though. It was really tough though. The magic wands were a nice touch. We booked a 2nd room today but wanted to cancel 1 ticket since my son was so scared. They'd only give "credit" and no refunds. That's a shame considering our circumstances. Hey Cassie, we enjoyed our escape room. Thank you. Over a year ago Yelp introduced me to my first and Reno's first escape room - Break Through Reno. Since then, I have convinced a small group of coworkers to become very addicted to escape rooms like I have. BTR is just a few blocks from our office. So it is perfect for our group to test our skills after work. Recently, we tried the new room, Apartment 13, which has replaced The Mask. I booked our room and time online at breakthroughreno.com. I was also able to prepay with credit card at that time too. So 15 minutes before our time, we check in, Cassie greeted us and had us sign waivers, and presented us the video giving background info on the room. So very glad she asked how many rooms we have done. Because she offered us an extended version of the room. We loved it !! We also enjoyed the technology we encountered, very cool. BTR offers four different rooms and seem to be starting to change their scenarios. So if you have done all the rooms in the past year, you should check out new rooms. I prefer our small group of four. I find bigger groups can sometimes get in each other's way, especially if there are smaller multiple rooms. Too many people can also make it hard to share the clues and hear what's going on. Parking is a breeze, as the lot for the area shops is quite large. And businesses in the square all have varying hours. At $23 a person, I dare you to put a team together and try to ESCAPE. read more

Skull & Sceptre: I thought this escape room was quite fun and satisfying. Our party of 3 adults, 2 teens needed some help on normal level, attained via walkie-talkie (normal level has a purported 48% success rate), but we were nevertheless successful. The harder level had only a 5% escape success rate. Don't recommend that level unless your crew is seasoned with serious problem-solving skillz. I guess my one complaint was the black light needed to complete the puzzle was quite dim, battery drained. Made it very difficult to see the clues. Our facilitator, at the end of the game, had an industrial grade black-light flash light to explain the clues, and it made a world of difference seeing the clues clearly. Other clues made sense and were challenging, but fairly straightforward. Staff was friendly and accommodating. I'd enjoy trying another escape room through this outfit. Solid recommend read more

Omg when I tell you I have done so many escape rooms and this one was way different. It was high quality and different from the others in Vegas. I especially loved the service!!
