The good was the staff was friendly and was flexible to our needs. I really appreciate that. The bad was that the place was really dirty, and a lot of falling apart items. The bathroom was super filthy and toilet paper everywhere. The staff was siting at the office the whole time and no effort to even attempt to clean up. I felt unsafe sending the kids to that bathroom. I hope they use this feedback and improve the cleanliness, because the kids had fun and I would love to come back if they keep the place more safe for the kiddos to use. read more

My husband and I did not like this place at all. First of all, it's a mess. There was trash and stuff all over the place. The bathroom was gross and had no paper towels. The rage room was 10x12 or so, it was extreeeeeeemely small. We couldn't be in the room together and the room was already filled with a bunch of beaten up stuff. They gave us tiny glass bottles that were impossible to break unless you smashed them with a hammer. They wouldn't even break after throwing them hard against the wall. Also, I tried on a jumpsuit they made you wear that had 2 zippers on it, not sure why but they were both broken so I had to take it off and put a whole new one on. Overall, this was not a good experience. The staff that worked there didn't seem to care. She told us we had 30 minutes and she said "you can do, 5 or 10 minutes I really don't care." Like oh, okay cool. We went to ismash in sparks previously and I would absolutely recommend going there over this place. Really upset that we paid so much for such a terrible experience. read more

We showed up for our booked appointment, and no one was working that night. I guess when you book appointments over the phone, you're booking with a call center, not the actual location, so there must have been some miscommunication. When we called brainy actz and told them no one was here for our appointment, the lady in the phone said she'll look into it, hung up on me, didn't call me back, and didn't answer any of my calls that night. We got refunded and got offered a voucher for a free room. When we showed up for our escape room the second time, the heat wasn't working, and we spent one hour in a cold room with a little space heater. Apart from the hiccups, the room itself was underwhelming and not nearly as immersive as other escape rooms in town. It was just cheaply made. I'm not upset or distraught about any of this, I understand that things happen. However, I kept getting text messages asking me to leave a review. I replied and said my review wouldn't be good based on my experience, but was urged to leave one anyway (I'm guessing it was a chain of automated texts/responses). So here is my review! read more

SCAMMER ALERT!!!!!!! If you are looking for fun and excitement, do not come here. All you will find is sadness and disappointment. The jungle room we tried had to be the cheapest unimaginative escape room you'll ever see. The room isn't interactive or immersive at all. Once inside the room, you'll see a bunch of cheap lock boxes with combination locks, and that's it. Room looks like a couple of 5 years olds put it together with no help from adults. Calling their customer service is a joke. I hope the people who pick up the calls in the corporate office knows that if they keep treating their paying patrons like shit they will all need to find new jobs soon. We arrived (early) for our session, and they were closed. They had not tried to reach out to let us know. We called and left messages. No one ever returned our calls, so they next day I went in person and was told that they would not give me a refund, even through THEY were the ones who were not there! Do NOT book. I booked the Lost Jungle Safari through their website. Was called 30 mins later and told that room is not actually open, so I can cancel or book a different room or time. My daughters have done the other rooms and wanted a new room. So I said to just cancel. Got the email notice that it was cancelled but NO REFUND. It's been nearly three weeks. I have called, left VMs, emailed...crickets. Don't risk this happening to you. We ended up booking at Deadline and my daughters loved it. read more

If I could, I would give the business 0 stars. The moment we walked in it was HORRIBLE. The host was absolutely horrible! First off, she looked like she just woke up and was UNPREPARED for our appointment. When we entered the room and she was trying to give us instructions while she was talking over her walktalkie to another group at the SAME TIME. We weren't even there for 5 mins, we asked her for a clue and she was giving clues on the puzzle we weren't even on. The room was very cheap ( safari jungle) which matches their service . Don't even bother calling their "customer service" line because you will talk to a guy named Josh who will guarantee you a refund and then get on the phone with a Rita or a Sidney saying they DONT GIVE REFUNDS no matter how horrible of an experience you had. What kind of business is it?!? You can take money but can't refund it? Stay away from this business if you're ever in Reno. I've been to Brainy Actz before, but this was the first time bringing the kids. We jumped into the Jungle Safari Escape Room, and while we didn't quite make it out (we definitely needed some help lol), it was a blast. The puzzles were on point, challenging but fun--definitely gave me Legends of the Hidden Temple vibes. Also, they've added new rooms since I was last here, so it was cool to check out some fresh options. On top of the escape rooms, they've got axe throwing, archery, and a Nerf war room--seriously, it's a vibe for all ages. Whether you're with family, friends, or your crew, you can't go wrong. I showed up for a reservation last night to find that the business was closed. We had reserved our room and paid in full ahead of time. We arrived before the time that our room was supposed to start, and there was nobody there. Today we were informed that they do not give refunds. So this is your warning. You could pay for six people to go to an escape room, and they might decide to close early and keep your money. read more

Buyer beware. We had scheduled an escape room experience for a group of six who were together for the holidays. Even though we showed up for our reservation on time, the staff did not. So, despite paying $200 for this holiday treat, we were left (literally) out in the cold. Since they did not contact us, nor return any phone calls, the purchaser went to the store today in person to make them aware of the situation and ask for her money back; she was denied a refund. To be in error and not make any attempt at apology and/or amends is not only unprofessional, but speaks volumes as to what this company thinks of its customers and their business. Being offered a credit to come back is NOT an acceptable response when you don't uphold your side of the transaction to begin with. There are many other escape room/rage room businesses in town, and I advise you book of of those for your future entertainment (especially given that Brainy Actz appears to be severely neglected and rather dirty - at least from what we could see from areas on the duct tape and paper covered windows that had peeled away). Mistakes/oversights happen - it is not the lack of showing for our reservation that has me refusing to go again, it is the absolute lack of care for their error and unprofessionalism that has me so disappointed. read more

In the room there was like 3 pieces of metal that were already broken and impossible to break. One of the pieces was like a metal bumper that you couldn't even dent it. It was also super expensive! I've been to this escape room twice. Once over 4 years ago when it was still nice and enjoyable, and again recently. It's sad to see that this place hasn't held up very well. The game master was working by herself and looked very flustered. A lot of the objects in the rooms have been over used and it's easy to spot which are the clues and which are just objects to throw you off. Objects were worn or falling apart, making the experience less enjoyable. The last room took us only 2 minutes to do. I would not recommend coming to this place if you're looking for a challenge. Went here last night with visiting family and we did The Secrets of the Master escape room with 12 minutes to spare! We had a blast!! Lee was our host and we loved her - she gave us great hints but only when we asked for them. The puzzles within the room were very clever and varied enough that everyone got to participate and help solve some of them. We also got to peek into their splatter paint room, rage room and where they have archery, nerf wars and axe throwing. Masks are required when you enter the facility but not while you are with your group inside the puzzle room (or taking the picture). We felt confident the room was sanitized, clean and safe for us to use, which we appreciated. So much to do and so much fun!!! read more

Last night I finally tried out the "Master" room. I was not overly impressed. Our host was fine and nice but didn't have much accumen for the task. The video barely explained the room concept. The instructions were scant. At several times, we asked for clues but the radios weren't working correctly and we had to wait for an answer. Some of the items in the room were showing their age and did not work correctly (I don't want to give anything away). This is my biggest complaint about a puzzle room. My other complaint is when puzzles have little way to logic through. Several times we just found ourselves guessing at things or needing clues. One riddle was just poorly constructed. (ADHD at it's finest) This was the last thing my sister and I planned during her visit from California and I did not know you HAVE to reserve a time slot. This is where Jasmine became our hero. I explained what happened and she instantly bent over backwards to accommodate us. We had a great time and the hour seemed like minutes. WOW is all I can say! Today my sister, cousin, myself & my daughter went Axe Throwing for my daughters 12th birthday. Aneet was our host and she honestly was so kind and helpful! Aneet showed up how to hold and throw each axe, and was very encouraging (but not overbearing) through the whole session. Establishment was clean, and requires a mask and gloves. Also has bluetooth so you can connect your music to play the entire time! For one hour of axe throwing it was only 24$ which you cant beat. There were 4 axes, and one mini shovel at each station. An hour may not seem long, but doing this activity, its a workout! Not all axes are heavy, so this can be enjoyed by kids, pregnant women, basically anyone. It was a fun experience and we cant wait to go back! The only reason they arent getting 5 stars is the booking process online in the 'chat.' One person in my party said she was with our group and was making sure her name was included, but when we got there, Aneet had only seen it was for 3. I do not remember the name of the person my sister talked to in the chat, but she failed to pass that information along. However, Aneet was quickly accommodating and it was no trouble at all. I'm torn............ I have now tried all the Escape Room venues currently open in Reno. I have such mixed feelings on this on. I purchased a Groupon for four of us to try the Secrets of the Master room. Yes I should have read the fine print.....this company reserves the right to put up to 10 people in a room at a time. I prefer to work with my usual small group, we get each other and have ours own strengths. Also one of our players is 12, and her mom wasn't thrilled about having someone she didn't know in the room with us. Having said all that- it worked out fine. The time of day we chose wasn't popular, so it was just us four. Next, the flow of the rooms wasn't quite there. Upside the decor was great. The technology and strategies were fun. There's the highlights I can give without ruining any part of the game. It is located on the west side of Longley in a warehouse type area, across from the Starbucks. I recommend coming in from the north and turning right into the lot. Crossing Longley during high traffic times is frustrating. read more

BrainyActz is awesome! I suppose it's strange to say I've been to BA for activities twice now, and neither was for their escape rooms! We went to a Nerf War BDay party, and kids had a great time! They had obstacles, fog, even foam "snow" and a rockin' soundtrack. Plus, the Nerf weapons and safety gear was provided, and the hostess went over the rules so everyone had a fun and no one lost an eye LOL! Then, I was super lucky to win a gift certificate on the radio for their Succulents Class, and it was a great girls day out! We came 5/5/19, or Cinco De Succulents, if you will! My sister-in-law was my guest, and the hostess of that workshop was fun and knowledgeable. She even had us play succulent bingo for accessories for our plant creations! The selection of plants, pots and cute things to adorn your creation were varied, and everyone's project were very unique. Who knew a game room place could have so much variety! So whether blasting your BFFs, solving your way out of a tricky situation, or adorbs plants is your thing, BrainyActz has something for you.
