The restaurant is small and comfy, with 4-seat tables lined up against one wall and the opposite wall being taken up by a counter and counter seats. Pictures of food hang on both walls and four brown ceiling fans hang from the ceiling. The restaurant's color scheme is very "latte", as the main colors are white and beige and only one part of the wall is red. Daughter ordered the fried flounder with 2 over easy eggs and grits with wheat bread. She said that the fish was nicely fried and crunchy. It didn't need tartar or cocktail sauce. She said it was her first time eating a breakfast item like this and her taste buds had never felt this sensation before. LOL. Hubs ordered the pinto con chorizo with sunny side up eggs. The server warned him that the sausage was spicy, but he didn't care. When we came here, Hubs didn't expect Hispanic food for brunch and was so surprised and so happy. He found the first item that he can see and translate and was happy he did. The chorizo had a nice spunk to it. He was happy that he got rice and beans instead of home fries and what a delightful change! The chips were also nice and crispy. Lastly, I had waffles with mixed fruit. I LOVED my waffles because it was nice and crunchy. The mixed fruit were bananas, strawberries, grapes and blueberries. They were a nice touch. I was asked if I wanted whipped cream and I said yes. Coffee was freshly brewed and it was nice and strong. It wasn't ordinary diner coffee. Hubs was happy about getting his cup refilled. Service was fast and really friendly. The waiter was always smiling. Parking is street parking. When we were there, it was free parking. Neighborhood was a bit sketchy, though. We were thinking of checking out the flea market across the street but changed our minds. Glad we got to try this place! Maybe one day, we'll be back.

Got lost trying to find it, we were about to say screw it and then we found the back entrance. I got a cheese omelette and home fries with a side of cheese grits. My wife got pancakes and extra crisp bacon. I am not a religious person but I felt like I was having a holy experience while I was eating that food. I don't care how fat that sounds. I AM SO GLAD WE FOUND THIS PLACE. OMG. Holy crap. First of all, the grits at this place were magical... creamy, buttery, and well seasoned. Like somebodies auntie with that hanging elbow fat was back there puttin her soul into those grits. Even if everything else was trash I would've gone back for those grits. Luckily everything i put in my mouth was amazingly delicious and I left there so full that I seriously contemplated asking my wife to pull the car up to the door so she could roll me into it. This is definitely a regular spot.

We tried Maria's Brunch for a brunch date and really enjoyed it! It was our first time here, and…read moreeveryone was friendly and welcoming. I'm vegetarian and don't eat eggs, so I ordered the Mexican Chilaquiles without egg. They were super helpful and substituted the egg with beans and mushrooms, which I really appreciated. A lot of places will just remove the egg, so it was nice that they actually replaced it with something. The chilaquiles were flavorful and filling. My husband got the Quesadilla Mex with veggies, and it was HUGE! It was thick and stuffed really well. He couldn't even finish it. It came with salsa, sour cream, guacamole, and a small basket of fries. For the price, I think the portions here are really good. I also got the iced Coko Moko Latte with coconut syrup, chocolate, and a shot of espresso. Really liked this one! The coconut and chocolate went surprisingly well together with the coffee. The location is convenient too, close to downtown Metuchen and Whole Foods, and they have their own parking lot, which is always a plus around this area. Good food, good portions, friendly service, and a really nice brunch date overall. We'll definitely be back!

The owner, Carolina, was warm and charming as was the waitress, Amira, who provided great service. We started with Argentine beef empanadas as a starter. For lunch I ordered the beef milanesa platter with French fries, while my wife had the chicken milanesa sandwich. Both dishes were generous in portion and full of flavor, just the kind of hearty, home-style fare I love from Argentine cafés. We also picked up a sandwich de miga to take home--a crustless ham and cheese sandwich that was simple, delicate, and satisfying. I'd rate both the meal and the sandwich an easy 8 out of 10. The café itself has a welcoming, local feel, and visiting on a weekday kept things peaceful. I learned they offer fresh Argentine pastries on weekends, which sounds like a perfect reason for a return visit soon. Patria Station Café is a great spot for authentic flavors, big portions, and a pleasant, laid-back experience.
