    Torrejas!

Wow! Needed a breakfast place to kill some time while awaiting my wife's minor surgery visit. Located in a small outparcel across from the Berkeley Heights train station, when you step inside it feels like you're on vacation in a cafe in Argentina. Cozy and compact, I chose the Torrejas - French toast on Baguette bread, with powdered sugar and "Dulce de Leche" (milk caramel spread). It was so good that I ordered one to go for my wife's ride home from the hospital. Give the Patria a visit - you'll be glad you did.

Here we see some Argentine products they sell.

I'm originally from Argentina but came to Jersey to visit some friends and decided to walk to this restaurant for some empanadas. What a pleasant surprise. The place is beautifully decorated with original Argentine decorations that brought me back to Argentina. Valentino was our server and it was his second day working there and he was fabulous. Very kind and made us feel at home. The food was great. We just went for empanadas but they had a full menu with variety from meat to pasta. I was sooo happy they had mate so drank my mate and for desert we had a delicious Dulce de Leche cheesecake. A must have!! If you are Argentine you should be happy to have this place around and if you are not, you should try it as well to get a taste of Argentine cuisine!! Carolina the owner was very friendly as well and gave my children some stickers to take home. Enjoy!!!

    Omelette and three empanadas

I was looking for a bakery in the area and I'm glad I stumbled upon this place. The service was excellent and the food was delicious! The decor inside the restaurant is cool. There's parking available. I had the omelette, beef empanada, chicken empanada, mushroom empanada, and submarino drink (hot chocolate)

    Omelette de la Huerta

I don't know what's taken me so long to stop in for a bite to eat. Now that I have? It's go time! What a cute 20-seat spot right at the Berkeley Heights train station. The decor, plants, and outdoor eating area, the packaged and fresh goods, and the staff made the restaurant feel very welcoming. I went in for brunch today and ordered the omelette de la huerta y cafe con leche. I typically do not drink coffee because most places over roast the beans (my nice way of saying it almost always tastes burned). But this cup was smooth, hot and lightened with oat milk. The omelette was PACKED with fresh veggies and tasted even better when topped with their homemade chimichurri sauce. I eyed the display case before my server explained all the sweets and told me the chef just finished making chorizo y queso empanadas. So i left with a hefty-sized to go bag of snacks for me and my family.

Friendly husband and wife run this small cafe with authentic Argentinian goods. We tried their coffee, beef empanada, and ham and cheese sandwich they were all great.

Such a delightful little gem! I came across this place accidentally while coming back from an appt in the area. Such an authentic and delicious experience! I was greeted by the owners, a lovely couple who clearly built this place with such love, and cook with such passion, it's evident in the details of the place and in the food. I ordered a half dozen empanadas. And they were truly some of the best I've ever had. They were not greasy, and unlike most empanadas where the quality of the stuffing seems secondary to the shell, this was different. There was a special beef empanada made with chunks of beef braised in wine, and their regular beef empanada had surprising ingredient touches that made it truly delicious and memorable. They also had an open empanada with potatoes and cheese that was unlike anything I've ever had. They were so good, I ordered a few. I tried to order different kinds so I can try as many as possible, each one was uniquely delicious. This place is ideal for breakfast, brunch and lunch. It feels like you're in Argentina inside given the decor and the music, and outside there is plenty of outdoor patio seating where you can take in the sun. I live about 20 min. away, but this place is worth the extra drive time. It will surely become one of my go-to favorites.

Argentina empanada was great with their homemade chimichurri sauce

Ambiance-wise, yeah it's a good, small cute restaurant, Peruvian paintings hanging on the wall. Service: it was Wednesday night so only 2 tables were occupied, so yeah no issues in waiting or service. Uncle was helpful with my questions. I guess we expected more (taste-wise), but it was a good experience. Overall 7.5/10

While there isn't exactly an Argentine neighborhood in New Jersey, many great restaurants are…read morelocated in the northern part of the state. Argentine cuisine is a blend of influences from the Italian and Spanish immigrants with its chief national product, beef. They say the reason Argentine steak is so good is that its cattle graze on the country's plentiful pampas grass, rather than being grain-fed as American cattle are. The result is leaner, more flavorful, and more nutritious beef. One such establishment is on Moonachie Road in Moonachie, where my partners, our friends and I decided on Saturday dinner. Reservations were easily made via OpenTable. Upon entering this cozy, modern interior of Tango Steak as first-timers, we were greeted by the host and got a table right away. We were here 3 years ago when it was El Tango Argentina Grill. The vibe has completely changed. It's now darker and louder, not family-friendly. Music was at a decent volume and does seem to increase as it gets later, giving it a lounge type. As an appetizer, we started with Beef and Chicken Empanadas as well as Calamares (Calamari). For our main meal, we decided on the Extrana (Skirt Steak) with Mashed Potatoes & Chimichurri Sauce and Tango Burger accompanied with Fries. Food was good, not awesome. Our appetizers were tasty and well seasoned. The Skirt Steaks tasted fantastic with the Chimichurri Sauce. The Mashed Potatoes had a nice texture. However, some of us asked that their Tango Burgers be made medium but came out well done. The Fries were salty and very dry. Our service was horrendous, but our server was Nathaly who was accommodating and apologetic. Some of us had gotten their appetizer faster than others. The duration between our appetizers and the main meal was an hour. The food was not cheap given the portions received and the 20% gratuity added automatically to the bill. With insult to injury, their valet attendant charged $5. Definitely not what we expected, which is why we sadly can't recommend this place.

Life really came full circle when I got to bring my 10-month-old son here, and he loved everything . The food is always so fresh and full of flavorful. The morcilla is rich , creamy and perfectly seasoned( they make the best morcilla I age ever had) and the empanadas are my absolute favorite with their flaky golden crust and authentic homemade taste. The meats and sides are just as incredible. The Russian potato salad is creamy and refreshing, the potato with parsley has that perfect balance of simplicity and freshness, and every bite of meat is tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor. The chimichurri ties it all together with bright garlic and herbs that make every dish pop. Thank you for staying consistent all these years. The food is always seasoned perfectly and made with care. It was so good, I didn't even bother with dressing. My son had the daily special of chorizo tacos. While they did come on flour tortillas, which are not his favorite, the chorizo itself was absolutely delicious. We were also offered toast with three different house sauces to try on it as a complementary appetizer. The decor and ambience is cozy, inviting, and charming. Service was prompt and courteous. So yes, by my highly scientific logic, this is also a Mexican spot. The decor definitely leans Mexico, heavy, which its amazing, kept reminding me of my favorite Mexican restaurant. But anyway, we're not here for interior design, we're here to eat. There's a LOT going on here, menu wise and vibe pwise, but in a good way. I ordered the Sandwiches de Miga 'Olímpico' and if you haven't tried them yet, that's a personal failure you can still fix. They're a must. Soft, classic, comforting... except for the edges. The edges were... questionable. Hard/frozen-ish. Not blaming anyone directly, maybe the fridge settings were on "Antarctica," maybe they weren't fully thawed. We'll never know. But that first bite hurt emotionally. It was like ordering a burger without pickles, taking a confident bite, and BOOM! pickle. Suddenly your whole day shifts slightly off center. Service wise: the guy at the counter stared at me, I started my order with zero greeting, felt like human self checkout, and I'm fine with that. Sometimes you don't want conversation, you just want carbs. Despite the frozen edge plot twist, I'm 100% coming back. The food has real potential, the place has character, and I need to try their asado.
