The ambiance is very pleasant. They have a lot of photo worthy decor. The workers were very attentive and spoke both Spanish and English. The food looked amazing, they were just putting out the buffet when we arrived. They have a vast variety of foods, so everyone will like something. They were very clean. I got an almohabana, it was amazing even cold. I also got the Argentinian empanadas. Was not a fan of the chicken one, it tasted like a curry puff. Just happened to past this place due to road closer. Serendipitous. Lowkey grabbed a Jamaican beef jawn and yuca roll-up filled with beef. The beef patty was flaky, slight sweet tinge bouncing off perfectly spicy beef. Fall-apart in my bag good. Hint of beef flavor (maybe could've been more), but the yuca was that starchy we all love, the coating crispy enough you snap on bite before the creamy filling. Came here for a quick bite to eat for breakfast. it's a bakery and a buffet but not AYCE. it's like $10 a pound. it hit the spot but the food may be better during lunch after a rotation of the food. I got a rice with bean, a side of beans and a beef patty. should have went with sausage. Working in the area, I usually go to another restaurant, but tried this one today. Food was exceptional, restaurant very clean, pricing was surprisingly affordable for the quality... and my server Angela was very helpful, very knowledgeable of the food and extremely pleasant , service with a smile very rare today!. I suppose ya can't expect a lot from a buffet, however the way you recover serving old, low-quality, potentially dangerous foods is what tells the real story of the quality of your intents as a restaurant. The fried rice was putrid. Smelled like it was re-cooked in an ash tray and its starches breaking down all thru out it visibly showing many re-fires. The pan de bono, stale. When these things were mentioned all they did was offer to shovel more garbage my way, not accept any loss. The fact that a $10 loss is that unbearable to this business should tell you why they are so at ease serving garbage and even potentially dangerous food products rather than throwing them away as they should. The soup was ok, but 1 decent product and 1 leader in the front with a hospitable quality in their smile are not enough to redeem a business this deeply poor in such other regards. read more

Okay, where do I start... I've tried many Spanish places that aren't near a Spanish populated area and they weren't always that great. But today the need for something Spanish on my break from work was crazy ! I found this place on google and wow... they will definitely be seeing me a lot. Let me start by saying that this place is so clean, and just chill vibes. They had 3 types of empanadas and let me say I've never had chicken empanadas where you can actually see and taste so much chicken without so much potato taking up space in there ! It was honestly amazing, crunchy, WARM, and the sazon was on point ! The guy that was there was so nice! I also tried one almohabana and all I have to say is 100% yes. Great find on my walk around Summit, NJ. Went for a late lunch and ordered a carnitas burrito and the Madurai con queso. Portions are generous, the burrito came with a plentiful serving of fries. I was excited to see the eatery and initially thought it would be a good choice when I didn't want to cook dinner for the family. I wish I had as good an experience as the other reviewers as my overall experience was lackluster. I order a la carte a container of their Stewed beef with tomatoes and potatoes as well as a container of their Ribs. Albeit a bit salty, the flavor of the food was exceptional. However, the quality of the meat was horrid. Both selections extremely fatty I would estimate around 25% fat. The lady serving me spent more time helping the folks in line behind me which really irritated me to the point I had to ask her to focus on my order. She then called to another girl from the back to complete the sale. I did not feel welcomed at all. Nevertheless, I planned to tip them which they most certainly did not deserve but when I went to pay with my CC I miskeyed keyed didn't enter enough 00 for the tip amount, but the cashier had left the register so there was no one to back out the erroneous entry and let me correct the entry. Since I was already frustrated I didn't want to wait for her to come back to the register, yes, I could have called her, but I should have to. So instead of leaving dollars, I left cents. You have to chalk that one up to Karma had either of the girls spent the time necessary to service me they would have received dollars and not cents. I stop by this place every chance I get. Everything is home made. We always joke that there's an old lady cooking in the back because it tastes like someones grandma made everything. The service is quick - in and out and you have a home cooked meal for dinner. Summit can be overpriced but here is reasonable. read more

Came in on a rainy day there was a few people here for lunch I will say everyone was super friendly service was really good. I had flautas very good!!! Steak tacos and shrimp tacos, have to say the shrimp tacos amazinggggggggggg!!!! Excellent food that tastes home cooked. Lends itself to both latin and continental taste buds. I tried the pork chops (they were in a sauce and I was half-expecting not to like them) and they were muy delicioso. The potato salad which was latin style (peas, diced potatoes & a little bit of green beans in it) was wonderful as was a tomato, onion salad in some kind of lemon dressing. The baked chicken was a little dry, but everything else was so good that I give it a 5. On another occasion I tried the Colombian empanadas. The beef was better than the chicken version. I wasn't in love with them but I would have again. The place is clean and the service is good. I want to try the smoothies and tacos. The buffet is the stand out if you want home cooked at a very reasonable price. I think it is the best of the local colombian/costa rican restaurants in the area. So pleasantly surprised after checking out Azucar. It's an an area of Summit that isn't really my favorite because of the lack of parking and the overall atmosphere of its neighborhood, but they have their own parking lot which is a big plus. The inside of the small building looked like it was newly renovated and was really nicely decorated, but most of all, it was very clean. I stopped in around 4:00 PM on a weekday and was greeted and introduced to the new space. The woman behind the counter who I spoke with most of the time, Jennifer (who I believe to be the manager/owner), was absolutely lovely and was genuinely excited to share her inspiration behind the restaurant and its various prepared dishes and desserts. Overall, she seemed to be a very proud business owner who is excited for the future of her new establishment. I decided to get a few things to bring home (although there was plenty of seating if I had chosen to dine in) to give me a sense of whether or not the place was any good. I went for the barbecue pork, plantains, empanadas (both cheese and beef), and the Tres Leches cake (all of which, by the way, was only about $12.00). All in all, I was BLOWN AWAY! Not only was EVERYTHING delicious and super flavorful, but the service was excellent, the space was very nice, and the prices are extremely reasonable. Great first impression! I live only a couple of minutes away and this is definitely going to be a go-to anytime my family and I want traditional South American cuisine, something which I now know our community was lacking. read more
