I've been going to shows periodically at the Brea Improv since 1996 (in the old location... so glad they changed it years ago to where it is now). We've seen big acts like George Lopez all the way to new talent and drag shows. There are big headliners and fun events constantly. Every single one of the events I've been to has been a hit (except one, he was not nearly as funny as on SNL, but that's not Brea Improv's fault). Food is ok, it is not fantastic, but it works. Mainly people are eating just so they don't drink as much. There is a 2 item minimum, so for us non-drinkers, we've had the food more than the alcohol. But the 2 items goes for anything. Pretzel is warm and would be great but gets dried out, still not a bad option if you dip in mustard. Fried pickles are also a fun choice. Salads are pretty good too. Pretty much bar food for meals; sliders, burgers, tacos, pizza. As long as you aren't expecting gourmet, you're good. Desserts are fantastic. Service is actually pretty great considering there are a lot of drinking, crazy people all over the place. You can order through the app and have it delivered, as well, so that comes in handy. One of our most recent favorites was our visit to see the Schitt's Creek Drag Show Brunch. SO MUCH FUN!!! We laughed so much and enjoyed the "ladies" and the cast to the fullest, our bills were a'flyin'!! And our emcee, Epiphany Kali, was gorgeous and completely entertaining!! Parking is easy, there are neighborhoods all around, parking garages, and parking lots. Birch Street area is wonderful for parking, even if you need to walk a bit, it's a breeze and free. Prices are really very decent and you also can enter to win tickets for upcoming shows. Hey, the more people the more laughs, right? Definitely worth it to check out the line-ups often, you'll find someone or some event that either piques your curiosity or floats your boat. Cheers!! read more

Next time someone tells you that a man went into the women's bathroom, you might want to check it out quietly. Yes I, the trans woman sitting in the stall, can hear you standing in the doorway talking about how a man was seen coming into the bathroom. I didn't expect to cry before a comedy show so thanks for that. Might as well review everything else. Food is overpriced and subpar. The mozzarella sticks are the only food item really worth anything. Drinks are drinks and are overpriced of course. The $18 old fashioned I had was just ok. Too wait in line at this improv, you're just standing out in the baking California sun so consider bringing a hat. read more

Seats are GA, I called and emailed to ask about ADA accessibility and was told all seats are ADA compliant and that an usher would assist me upon entry. I was seated on the complete opposite side from the restrooms, even though their website stated ADA seating was near its own ADA restroom, and I was initially placed in the center of the theater at the end of a long table so every time someone came through, they were bumping me. I was moved to the last table, end cap, furthest away from the restrooms. I still got bumped by wait staff coming through from the kitchen, even though the girl next to me had her chair further out than mine was. There are QR codes for ordering at every table, HOWEVER wait staff are WORKING THEIR BACKS OFF to get that tip so after the comedians were already on stage and latecomers were seated, the show was being overshadowed by the bubbly waitress schmoozing up to the late table behind me and reciting everything on the menu LOUDLY. It's a very basic, "instant-kitchen flash fry/reheat situation" there is no gourmet food on the menu: nachos, meatballs, pretzel, sliders, fries....it's not rocket science. I felt it was completely inappropriate for the whole situation to go down. If you get there late, you should be directed to use the QR code to order and that should be it! It wasn't an issue of the table not being tech savy, they literally pulled up the menu and were still going over it with the wait staff who was more than happy to engage in full conversation with the table WHILE THE COMEDIANS WERE ON STAGE PERFORMING. now there is a 2 item minimum per person, after you purchase your entry ticket. I ordered a vodka soda and a arnold Palmer for the table. The vodka soda had no vodka and the AP was lukewarm and watered down. I had already eaten beforehand, thankfully, because after seeing the food brought to neighboring table, I think I would've just gone without. I ordered two bottles of water to meet the minimum. They arrived at room temperature. It was 95 degrees yesterday. THE BILL WAS $35 DOLLARS. it arrived on one of those little remote control terminals, no detailed receipt showing, set at the tip options, WITH THE TIP SELECTED AT 20%. Takeaways, glad I got to see one of my new favorite comics, glad I ate before at a delicious restaurant with a Christmas gift card I had received (to level it out, I had a Mediterranean chicken bowl, shrimp tacos with rice and beans, a HEFTY vodka soda and a delicious ice cold Arnold Palmer FOR THE SAME PRICE AS THE MID BEVERAGES AT THE IMPROV. I'm glad I saw one ADA parking in the valet section and was allowed to park my own car without having to pay for valet. Would I be back?? Now they're having a Schitts Creek drag show and it sounds amazing because I love both SC and drag... But no. I'll pass. read more

Hugeeee venue with great lighting for the comedians. Been here a couple times for a show and always enjoyed it. Standard procedures for these kind of club is a drink or food minimum, so be prepared to order something. Personally not a fan of the rule, but the club gotta make their bread somehow. The event space itself is quite nice, organized and run very efficiently! The staff were friendly and knew exactly how to direct us. It's open seating so you don't really get a choice of where to sit since the staff direct you to your seat. I do have to say the tables on the sides are hard to adjust to especially if your back is facing the stage. It'd be ideal if the tables were angled diagonally toward the stage slightly even would be helpful. Ordering is on your phone or with the waitress. We did so but still we somehow got stuck with our neighbors order on our online tab. Thankfully the waitress was very attentive and fixed it for us no problem. First time came in for a show at their new venue. It was Ali Wong's first stand up comedy show after her long break. She was great as always but a bit rusty in my opinion. We saw her in Vegas before pandemic and she was fantastic! This venue is huge with so many seatings but very few booths. No more little round tables in the front. Maybe they replaced those with bigger tables considering how packed this show was! Food and drinks are still very good and reasonably priced. Such a great venue! My family and I went for Marcello Hernandez and we had so much fun!! Love how spacious the venue is and how organized everything was. We definitely recommend getting VIP because the GA line was around the building and the VIP seats are really up close! Staff were friendly and got our orders in quickly! Their menu has a lot of diverse options ranging from wine, cocktails, non-alcoholic drinks, burgers, appetizers, and desserts. The restrooms were also clean with a lot of stalls. First time at a comedy show and first time at the improv and boy did I laugh a lot here! I've always been a bit skeptical about going to comedy show and I haven't really had an interest to attend one. Ended up being a great time and I definitely would want to go back with the right comedian. Andrew Santino was awesome and so were all of his openers. He was so funny and knew how to interact with the crowd during the show. For parking here, there is a parking garage across the street and a shopping center, I would recommend dining in the shopping center first. The line for the improv was quite long, once we got in we walked through a dark hallway to be seated. The theater was small but more spacious to fit people than I thought. We sat at a long table in the back with our large group. Upon sitting down, waiters come to get your order for food and drinks, its a two item minimum per person. I got the burger and it was not good at all, it did the job but it was dry and just what you would expect. Fries were decent though. I would definitely recommend coming here for the experience of the comedian, I think they should add TV's on the sides of the venue so you are able to see the comedian better. read more

We went to see Marcelo Hernandez and it was such a great experience, really nice for date night. The doors opened at 9:30, we got there at 9 and the line was already wrapped around the building (2 corners wrapped). The seats are first come first served so definitely encourage arriving early. Our seats were not bad either way, we had a great view of the stage and people were not in the way. It's an intimate setting so I think pretty much any seat will have a decent view. This show in particular was no phones/smart watches so they lock them in a little bag and get unlocked after the show ends. The shows start time was 9:45 but it was raining so I think they were a little bit behind schedule (probably only by 10 mins). They seated us and took our orders right away. They encourage ordering everything at the same time especially since they are taking the whole venues order at the same time. We ordered garlic fries and mozz sticks, which were tasty and didn't take too long to come out. They have a decent selection of food items too. The only thing that was a downside was that the chair was so extremely uncomfortable for me. I don't know if it was the wooden back, the cushion was flat or what but it was so uncomfortable. I asked my partner about his and he said he was fine so take it with a grain of salt. Otherwise the experience was great! The show ended around 12:15am so a really solid set. Had great laughs, good food and a great night! I would definitely return to see other comedians and recommend this for a date, hangout, or something fun to do! read more

Show: This last trip to the Brea Improv was to see Daphnique Springs, but it definitely wasn't my first visit. I've been here a few times. Parking: First thing worth mentioning, parking is easy. There are two free parking lots right across the street on either side of the Improv, which makes getting in and out simple. They also have valet behind the building. Not necessary at all, but if you're on a date and want to impress a little, that's an option. Seating Tip: Best tip I can give: arrive early. If you get there ahead of the crowd you can score a really good seat. This last time we were super close to the stage, which made the whole show even better. Food & Service: Minor qualms. The food leaves a lot to be desired and the service can be hit or miss. On this visit I asked for a glass of water and the server told me she couldn't bring anything until I started ordering because of the two item minimum. Every time I've been here the timing with food has been a bit unpredictable, and this time they also got my friend's drink order wrong. Overall: The space itself is great for comedy, and they consistently bring in really good comedians. Stick to drinks and enjoy the show. read more

Absolute Gem I love this venue! I really enjoy the live comedy performances the Improv puts together! This venue is beautiful yet has a classic feel that gives you nostalgic FOMO! Getting away from the mundane and laughing so hard my smile hurts and my stomach is sore, feels pretty darn good! Also it's fun coming with your friends or even solo out to see comics you've been a fan of for a long time, and new comics on the come up! So come out support your local comics and also ones coming to visit! If that wasn't enough to peak your comedic interest then this should be the cherry on top. The food is actually really good. Not your typical frozen microwave dishes. These dishes have character and flavor profiles. My friends and I keep ordering our favorites when we go but I like trying some of the other menu items, fried Oreos, fried pickle chips, pizza, and the mozzarella sticks were amazing! Cocktails and beers on tap are all amazing too as I keep ordering the old fashioned and the Elysian Space Dust! Come see what the fun is all about!! Came here for a show on Valentine's Day. It was a great and funny show - Damon Wayans, Jr. the drinks were good and came out fast (2drink minimum per person). The new venue is nice and remodeled. Definitely a lot bigger and nicer than the old one. The only reason they didn't receive 5 is because the seating is horrible. We sat at a long table with a a few people in front of us and how the seats were arranged, you're looking directly behind someone's or a few someone's head(s). If you go, and want to see the show, get there at least an hour early to get one of the front facing seats or pay extra for VIP. read more

We came for a late night show. I would highly advise to come with plenty of time for queuing. It is first come first serve for seating so if you want a good spot, you have to be here early. There is plenty of parking nearby or with a short walk. Do not expect the best service and keep in mind you are here for the show. There are QR codes on the table to place your order or you can ask a server. Servers are very busy coming and going everywhere so I would highly recommend just to use the QR code. We waited a very long time to even get water. My bf had a coughing episode from the michelada and by the time we got water, he was done coughing. The michelada was whatever, not the best. I prefer to go with canned product as you know what you are getting. We have tried their food in the past and have been disappointed for the quality for the value. If you live anywhere near North Orange County and you're not going to the Brea Improv, you're doing yourself a disservice. This place just gets it. The staff is unfailingly friendly and on top of everything without hovering -- drinks show up, food's hot, checks are smooth, and somehow you never feel rushed. It's a well-run operation, which I appreciate as someone who notices when things don't run well. The comics? Consistently excellent. We've seen everyone from rising killers to seasoned pros, and the room is perfectly dialed in for laughs -- intimate enough to feel connected, big enough to feel like an event. And the value is hard to beat. A top-tier venue, strong lineup, great service, and a genuinely fun night out without the "why did I just spend that much?" regret on the drive home. Five stars. Last night, I had yet another great time at the Brea Improv. On top of seeing a great show, the entire experience was super. I'll start with the service. All of the staff that we interfaced with were incredibly friendly and helpful. From the time we were escorted to our seats, to the time that we were approached by our server was literally 2-3 min max. Throughout the entire evening, our server was extremely prompt, efficient and attentive. This was very impressive as the place was packed. Yet all of the staff worked together like a well oiled machine. Like most comedy clubs, the Improv has a 2 drink minimum. However, our server did not hound us at all. Of course, we ended up far exceeding the requirement anyway. But he didn't feel the need to remind us of the requirement like other comedy clubs can do. The food was very reasonably priced and they had decent selection good quality bar style appetizers, salads and burgers, chicken sandwiches and desserts. Not only was the food really good, priced not a lot more than a fast food restaurant nowadays, but they were lightening fast preparing and delivering it to our table. It was REALLY impressive given the huge volume of guests that were in attendance. The ambiance and cleanliness (including the bathrooms) were both flawless! Also, plenty of free parking located very close by. Although, I live in LA County, it is always worth the drive to the Brea Improv as they have yet to disappoint me! [Parking]: Visitors can park at the giant & free parking structures across the street (235 S Orange Ave or 101 S Brea Blvd), but I arrived the parking structure at 235 S Orange Ave 15 minutes before the 7:30 PM showtime and the entire structure was completely packed. I got really lucky as one car was about to leave. *** PRO TIP #1 *** Come at least 30+ minutes before the 7:30 PM showtime to have a better shot for an available spot or come for the late 9:30 PM showtime as (1) no dining crowd, (2) visitors from the 7:30 PM showtime are leaving, and (3) less crowd for the UFC Gym. [Ticket & rules]: General Admission ticket is typically $25 - $30 and is a first-come, first-served + host-escorted seating. However, please note that there is a TWO-item minimum purchase requirement in the showroom for all guests - any food item or beverage (with or without alcohol) counts toward the two-item minimum. Salsa wasn't all that bad. [Conclusion]: My overall experience was mediocre - free parking but hit-and-miss on availability, good sound quality but hard to see the stage in the back, passable food but overpriced, and hit-and-miss comedians (saw Michael Blaustein and he was at his best grilling the live audience, but not all audience was participating and gave him little materials to work with so it was an alright show). When: Sunday Labor Day Weekend Parking: Easy to find free parking in the structure across the street. There were multiple spots starting on the second level. Ambience: They really pack in the Improv! I got GA tickets and it is first come, first seated. You really can't have a bad seat unless you're behind someone really tall. The back of the theater wasn't too far from the stage. We got seated in the second section form the stage at the end of the table. It was enjoyable to get to know the other people sitting next to us- we had some pre-comedy show laughs! We saw Rob Schneider and no one told me he would sing 7 songs throughout his show. He didn't absolutely suck but his microphone certainly could have been turned down. Service: I recommend to order immediately as you sit down to beat the rush. They have a QR code on the tabletop as well as servers making their rounds to place your order in-person if you need. We asked for waters the first time we talked and unfortunately never got them. These servers and the kitchen staff have to feed 500 people in an hour. They work very hard!!! What I tasted: Buffalo chicken boneless wings - I honestly loved these. They were giving chicken nuggets and you just know how good these hit when buzzed. The mint mojito was nice and light with soda water and just a little on the sweet side. It was very easy to drink, like water. The tacos were delicious- I enjoyed both the beef and chicken. They were moist with fresh toppings and salsa. Another reviewer mentioned the tortillas fell apart easily and that is exactly what I experienced. Kind of kills the taco vibe... But they really were yummy. Overall thoughts: I loved the Brea Improv! It is a well-run venue with extremely easy parking with a not-so-scary walk for 2 girls. The Brea Improv is a huge comedy club. It is clean and well maintained. I like the dim lighting. I wish the chairs were more comfortable. The booths are the way to go! My husband and I went to see Alonzo Bodden. He was funny and it was enjoyable. I enjoyed my time at this comedy club. The parking structure across from the improv, is free to park. I like free lol I ordered a few drinks and a snack. Here's my rating of the things I tried. Lavender Lemonade 10/10 This was delicious and so refreshing! It had a nice lavender flavor and the lemonade part was not too sour. Very well balanced. My favorite drink! Non- alcoholic daiquiri 5/10 This tasted like a slushie lol Just a pure sugary drink. It wasn't my favorite. I am happy they had a non alcoholic option though. Deep Fried Oreos 10/10 These were amazing!!! Truly, really good. I've had deep fried Oreos before at the fair, but these were way better than that! They were very rich. Make sure you are ready for something sweet. The coating tasted good and was fried so it had a nice crunch when you took a bite. Cranberry juice 5/10 It tasted very watered down. Maybe it wasn't real cranberry juice and was the one that only contains 5% juice lol It just wasn't good. I wouldn't recommend that drink. read more

What a great experience! I definitely recommend arriving early. There's a free parking structure across the street and plenty of restaurants nearby to check out. When we walked in, the staff provided a pouch for our phone and smartwatch since photos and videos weren't allowed. It was nice to disconnect and enjoy the show without distractions. They have a menu with various food and drink options. When we attended there was a two-item minimum per person (food or drinks both count). I ordered a Mango Cart and the fried pickles. And if you want people who don't consume alcohol to buy drinks... price the water water less than the beer. Price gouging and harassing customers isn't winning repeat customers. And the food OH MY GOODNESS I think we tried everything and those tacos!!!!! LIKE whoa the only thing I didn't like was the seating like we tried everything on your menu twice...we needed more space. Great venue to watch comedy! They often get many famous comics from LA performing here. Parking is free and easy in close city public structures. The food is ok. The Street tacos were tasty but don't pay extra for the avocado since it's not the avocado slices like they show in the menu photo. Instead it's a scooped of mashed avocado that tastes fizzy and stale. The Sliders only come with mayo & ketchup & 2 pickle slices (so it's boring: bun, meat, tomato, ketchup, pickle, that's it) no silverware despite asking multiple times so just had to dip the burger in the sauce in its little metal bowl. 2 item minimum but if you get food you can get soda to go with it instead of alcohol. Also they pack you into the seats more than in Irvine. I had the misfortune to sit next to a gigantic woman who kept flicking her long hair on me which was disgusting. Not Brea Improv's fault of course but with their tight seating I had no where to escape the gargantuan rude woman who had zero self awareness. Drove up from Chula Vista for a show. The comedy was amazing. The service was lacking. I came by myself. I saw my server twice...once to take my order and another time to close out the check. When another server dropped off the food, I asked for ranch and never got it. The server for our section prioritized drink orders for a larger group. The workers here are also quick about clearing off the tables and asking frequently if you're done with your meal near the end of the main set. Went to an event here at Brea Improv and it was a great experience! Venue was huge but still felt very personal. The food was actually really yummy and got out to you quickly and efficient. Prices are solid especially for what you get for the portions. Staff was amazing when it came to taking our orders, checking on us, and just overall making our experience 10x better! Parking is fairly easy; there's plenty across the street. I came here with a friend for a comedy show, though the ticket price wasn't all there was. Seating is greeted, so come early for best seats! The food was mid at best. Looking around, not many were appetizing. The drinks were alright and fair. Service was difficult. After being pestered to order at least two items per person, the servers leave you alone. However, you do order via a QR code. Souvenir cups are nice for free drink refills, but good luck flagging a server down after! Service ended an hour before the show concluded. Paying was fairly easy. Tabs can be closed via the same QR code, or the server will come take payments towards the end. Overall, food and service after entering and exiting were subpar. However, the venue itself is very nice to enjoy shows in. read more
