I absolutely love having Brea Improv so close to me! I've been here multiple times and have brought different friends with me to catch a comedy show, and it never disappoints. I've seen both Loni Love and Guy Torry here, and they were incredible! Both shows had me laughing, and I've definitely become a fan of coming here for a good night out. The food and drinks are always on point, and the staff has always been great. The hostess at the door is especially friendly and helpful. Every time I'm scrambling to find my ticket in my Apple Wallet or buried somewhere in my email, they're always patient and ready to help. I also love the location in Brea -- there are little shops and other places nearby, so you can make a whole evening out of it. My only complaint about the area is that a lot of the surrounding businesses close pretty early, but that's obviously not the Improv's fault. Overall, Brea Improv is a great local spot for comedy, drinks, food, and a fun night out. I'll definitely keep coming back! read more

8/12/26 Nurse John show. My husband and I came here for Nurse John's comedy show at the improv. A couple weeks leading up to the show, I emailed the improv to inquire about ADA seating. It took a few days to receive a response. After some back and forth, they couldn't help me since I bought my tickets from Stubhub and the ticket info wasn't released until the day before. I tried to contact them via phone and email prior to the event to ask but not a single soul got back to me. The customer service on this front is rated 2 stars for me. I would have been dead before I got an answer. Evening of the show, line was wrapped about the restaurant. They don't admit until 930p for the 945p show time, however, it was still delayed. I read a bunch of not so pleasant online reviews and didn't expect much with this venue. A long line of people filed in and there was appointed seated when we got in. We got some decent general admit seating areas in the middle. Easy to walk with only a few steps to the restroom. Not sure if there is another area that has a wheelchair ramp but glad I didn't have to use it. Tables are cramped but worked out. QR code ordering for your table. Two item requirement per ticket. Not sure how they track this stuff but my husband and I were super hungry so the two item minimum was no big deal. *sorry about my blue hued food items. Lights already dimmed by the time they arrived. Everything tasted delicious. I loved our server gal. I asked for tap water and she informed me she will try to get back to me. They are rushed to get all ordered drinks and alcohol out before the show and if she can, she will bring me a water later. I wasn't holding my breath since it was so busy. To my surprised, 15mins into the show she stopped by with two glasses of water. I truly appreciated her. Overall, I gotta give all the servers props for doing the hustle before, during snd before the show ends. They have to take the orders for this who don't use the QR ordering, get the food and drinks out and make sure you check out before show ends so you can just walk out. Entertainment: 5/5 Food/Drinks: 3/5 I caught a comedy show on a Wednesday night so it was not packed. I'd say it was under 100 people so we only filled up the first section of the seating area. We caught Comedy Confidential hosted by Steve Fury. It was an interesting show because once we sat down there was a paper and pencil for each person. We were asked to write down one secret, any secret, and they worked it into the show. There were four other comedians and they took turns picking out the secrets from a bucket. Once each comedian picked their favorite, they invited whoever's secret it was to come on stage and answer some of their questions in a panel-style format. It sounded kind of weird at first but it was HILARIOUS! I would definitely catch another comedy show here, we had a blast. With your ticket, you are required to purchase two items (food and/or drinks) so we saved our appetite. We ordered the mini burgers, boneless wings, Caesar salad, mozzarella sticks, and nachos. There were mixed reviews across the group for each items. Mini Burgers - Lacked flavor and salt. Wings - Can select up to two sauces, and they only come in the side and are not tossed into the wings. Wing flavors were okay but I didn't like that we had to dip it separately. Caesar Salad - It was drenched in dressing. Ask for it on the side. Mozzarella Sticks - Solid cheese pull and the marinara sauce was good (3/5). Regular Nachos with Shredded Cheese - My friend loved the nachos. This is a newer Improv location, and I definitely like it better than the Irvine Improv. It's located in a cute shopping and dining village, which makes for a fun night out. Parking was easy--we skipped driving around looking for a spot and parked in the structure directly across the street. Best of all, parking was free. We had general admission tickets, which required a two-item minimum purchase per person. Since we arrived close to showtime, we ended up seated toward the back. We could still see the stage, but the lower table section definitely offers a better view. The food was decent--pricey, but decent. You can either order through a server or scan a QR code and order from your phone. Our server recommended ordering through her, but after waiting quite a while for a beer, I switched to ordering online. Since all they really had to do was bring the food out, I tipped 15%. We ordered the sliders with fries and the chicken quesadillas, both of which were good. Our other two items were a beer and bottled water. I also noticed other guests ordering burgers and desserts, which looked pretty good. The overall design is very similar to the Irvine location. The restrooms were nice, but they were a bit messy because the seat-cover dispensers were difficult to use. There were pieces of paper covers scattered around several stalls. Other than that, the bathrooms were fine. We came to see Tumua, and I'm glad this was the venue where we finally got to see him perform. I decided to check out a free comedy show at Brea Improv and overall I had a really good time. For a free event, it was honestly a great way to spend an evening. The show ran from about 8:00 PM to 9:30 PM, parking was free across the street, the sound quality was excellent, and the venue itself felt more like a comedy club mixed with a restaurant. The lighting was perfect, the seating was comfortable, and the overall atmosphere felt polished and professional. One thing that impressed me was that I accidentally left my physical driver's license behind and only had a photo of it on my phone. The manager and staff were understanding and allowed me in, which I really appreciated. The reason I'm giving four stars instead of five comes down entirely to the service experience. When I claimed the free tickets, I never saw anything mentioning a two item minimum. Once seated, our waitress, a young white woman, immediately started pushing the minimum purchase requirement. When I asked for water, she specifically suggested bottled water because it would count toward the two item minimum. That caught me off guard because I had already eaten dinner before arriving and was only there to enjoy the comedy show. Throughout the evening, it felt less like she was checking on us and more like she was trying to pressure us into buying additional items. The repeated reminders became uncomfortable and honestly distracted from the experience. That said, the venue itself was great. I came here for a show and they require you to buy two items minimum per person. I got a drink and there Nashville fried chicken sandwich. The sandwich was freshly fried, but tasted like nothing. It looked like there was seasoning and spices, but I could not taste any of it. I'd get more flavor from a fast food chicken sandwich than here. The actual comedy show was about an hour and half and it was entertaining. Prices for the food and drinks were high for what you get and personally I don't like the minimum item spend here as there are so many restaurants and bars within the area too. I've been going to shows periodically at the Brea Improv since 1996 (in the old location... so glad they changed it years ago to where it is now). We've seen big acts like George Lopez all the way to new talent and drag shows. There are big headliners and fun events constantly. Every single one of the events I've been to has been a hit (except one, he was not nearly as funny as on SNL, but that's not Brea Improv's fault). Food is ok, it is not fantastic, but it works. Mainly people are eating just so they don't drink as much. There is a 2 item minimum, so for us non-drinkers, we've had the food more than the alcohol. But the 2 items goes for anything. Pretzel is warm and would be great but gets dried out, still not a bad option if you dip in mustard. Fried pickles are also a fun choice. Salads are pretty good too. Pretty much bar food for meals; sliders, burgers, tacos, pizza. As long as you aren't expecting gourmet, you're good. Desserts are fantastic. Service is actually pretty great considering there are a lot of drinking, crazy people all over the place. You can order through the app and have it delivered, as well, so that comes in handy. One of our most recent favorites was our visit to see the Schitt's Creek Drag Show Brunch. SO MUCH FUN!!! We laughed so much and enjoyed the "ladies" and the cast to the fullest, our bills were a'flyin'!! And our emcee, Epiphany Kali, was gorgeous and completely entertaining!! Parking is easy, there are neighborhoods all around, parking garages, and parking lots. Birch Street area is wonderful for parking, even if you need to walk a bit, it's a breeze and free. First time came in for a show at their new venue. It was Ali Wong's first stand up comedy show after her long break. She was great as always but a bit rusty in my opinion. We saw her in Vegas before pandemic and she was fantastic! This venue is huge with so many seatings but very few booths. No more little round tables in the front. Maybe they replaced those with bigger tables considering how packed this show was! Food and drinks are still very good and reasonably priced. I've always been a bit skeptical about going to comedy show and I haven't really had an interest to attend one. Ended up being a great time and I definitely would want to go back with the right comedian. Andrew Santino was awesome and so were all of his openers. He was so funny and knew how to interact with the crowd during the show. For parking here, there is a parking garage across the street and a shopping center, I would recommend dining in the shopping center first. The line for the improv was quite long, once we got in we walked through a dark hallway to be seated. The theater was small but more spacious to fit people than I thought. We sat at a long table in the back with our large group. Upon sitting down, waiters come to get your order for food and drinks, its a two item minimum per person. I got the burger and it was not good at all, it did the job but it was dry and just what you would expect. Fries were decent though. I would definitely recommend coming here for the experience of the comedian, I think they should add TV's on the sides of the venue so you are able to see the comedian better. read more

Very disappointing experience at Brea Improv. I went with a friend who recently had surgery, was wearing a boot, and was using a scooter because she could not stand for an extended period of time. When purchasing tickets, there is no option to request handicap accommodations. We were left standing off to the side while everyone else was being seated, even after repeatedly asking staff for help and explaining that she physically could not continue standing. Instead of offering a chair while we waited, the staff was rude and dismissive toward us. It took getting the manager involved, who was also extremely rude to us, before a chair was finally brought over. What should have been a fun night out turned into an uncomfortable experience where my friend was made to feel like a burden for needing basic assistance. I would expect a venue to show more compassion and consideration toward guests with mobility limitations. read more

We definitely recommend getting VIP because the GA line was around the building and the VIP seats are really up close! Staff were friendly and got our orders in quickly! We went to see Marcelo Hernandez and it was such a great experience, really nice for date night. The doors opened at 9:30, we got there at 9 and the line was already wrapped around the building (2 corners wrapped). The seats are first come first served so definitely encourage arriving early. Our seats were not bad either way, we had a great view of the stage and people were not in the way. It's an intimate setting so I think pretty much any seat will have a decent view. This show in particular was no phones/smart watches so they lock them in a little bag and get unlocked after the show ends. The shows start time was 9:45 but it was raining so I think they were a little bit behind schedule (probably only by 10 mins). They seated us and took our orders right away. They encourage ordering everything at the same time especially since they are taking the whole venues order at the same time. We ordered garlic fries and mozz sticks, which were tasty and didn't take too long to come out. They have a decent selection of food items too. The only thing that was a downside was that the chair was so extremely uncomfortable for me. I don't know if it was the wooden back, the cushion was flat or what but it was so uncomfortable. I asked my partner about his and he said he was fine so take it with a grain of salt. Otherwise the experience was great! The show ended around 12:15am so a really solid set. Absolute Gem I love this venue! I really enjoy the live comedy performances the Improv puts together! This venue is beautiful yet has a classic feel that gives you nostalgic FOMO! Getting away from the mundane and laughing so hard my smile hurts and my stomach is sore, feels pretty darn good! Also it's fun coming with your friends or even solo out to see comics you've been a fan of for a long time, and new comics on the come up! So come out support your local comics and also ones coming to visit! If that wasn't enough to peak your comedic interest then this should be the cherry on top. The food is actually really good. Not your typical frozen microwave dishes. These dishes have character and flavor profiles. My friends and I keep ordering our favorites when we go but I like trying some of the other menu items, fried Oreos, fried pickle chips, pizza, and the mozzarella sticks were amazing! Yes I, the trans woman sitting in the stall, can hear you standing in the doorway talking about how a man was seen coming into the bathroom. Came here for a date night with my boyfriend to see Tumua Tuinei a Hawaiian comedian from Ohau, Hawaii. He was super hilarious putting on a great show. We were able to meet him afterwards to meet and greet taking selfies. Very down to earth individual. I haven't been to Brea Improv in a while so going back there was a big improvement. More space with extensive available seats. The staff kindly took us to our seats at the bar area centered directly to the stage. I recommend getting there early otherwise you'll end up in the back. Doors are usually open about an hour to show time. We arrived exactly at 6pm and ordered drinks to start the night. So many variations of cocktails, beers, and wines on the menu. It's required that each person orders two items. We ordered boneless wings and a smash burger for dinner which were all so tasty. Only downfall of it all, our food came out later than expected just because volumes of orders were in the works. Recommend to order food and drinks right away as soon you get seated. Our server worked hard making sure we were always good even when he was super busy. Very high paced environment. As for parking, there were parking structures at no cost. Completely FREE! The event space itself is quite nice, organized and run very efficiently! The staff were friendly and knew exactly how to direct us. It's open seating so you don't really get a choice of where to sit since the staff direct you to your seat. I do have to say the tables on the sides are hard to adjust to especially if your back is facing the stage. It'd be ideal if the tables were angled diagonally toward the stage slightly even would be helpful. Ordering is on your phone or with the waitress. We did so but still we somehow got stuck with our neighbors order on our online tab. Thankfully the waitress was very attentive and fixed it for us no problem. Last night, I had yet another great time at the Brea Improv. On top of seeing a great show, the entire experience was super. I'll start with the service. All of the staff that we interfaced with were incredibly friendly and helpful. From the time we were escorted to our seats, to the time that we were approached by our server was literally 2-3 min max. Throughout the entire evening, our server was extremely prompt, efficient and attentive. This was very impressive as the place was packed. Yet all of the staff worked together like a well oiled machine. Like most comedy clubs, the Improv has a 2 drink minimum. However, our server did not hound us at all. Of course, we ended up far exceeding the requirement anyway. But he didn't feel the need to remind us of the requirement like other comedy clubs can do. The food was very reasonably priced and they had decent selection good quality bar style appetizers, salads and burgers, chicken sandwiches and desserts. Not only was the food really good, priced not a lot more than a fast food restaurant nowadays, but they were lightening fast preparing and delivering it to our table. It was REALLY impressive given the huge volume of guests that were in attendance. The ambiance and cleanliness (including the bathrooms) were both flawless! Also, plenty of free parking located very close by. Although, I live in LA County, it is always worth the drive to the Brea Improv as they have yet to disappoint me! Show: This last trip to the Brea Improv was to see Daphnique Springs, but it definitely wasn't my first visit. I've been here a few times. Parking: First thing worth mentioning, parking is easy. There are two free parking lots right across the street on either side of the Improv, which makes getting in and out simple. They also have valet behind the building. Not necessary at all, but if you're on a date and want to impress a little, that's an option. Seating Tip: Best tip I can give: arrive early. If you get there ahead of the crowd you can score a really good seat. This last time we were super close to the stage, which made the whole show even better. Food & Service: Minor qualms. The food leaves a lot to be desired and the service can be hit or miss. On this visit I asked for a glass of water and the server told me she couldn't bring anything until I started ordering because of the two item minimum. Every time I've been here the timing with food has been a bit unpredictable, and this time they also got my friend's drink order wrong. I got really lucky as one car was about to leave. *** PRO TIP #1 *** Come at least 30+ minutes before the 7:30 PM showtime to have a better shot for an available spot or come for the late 9:30 PM showtime as (1) no dining crowd, (2) visitors from the 7:30 PM showtime are leaving, and (3) less crowd for the UFC Gym. [Ticket & rules]: General Admission ticket is typically $25 - $30 and is a first-come, first-served + host-escorted seating. However, please note that there is a TWO-item minimum purchase requirement in the showroom for all guests - any food item or beverage (with or without alcohol) counts toward the two-item minimum. [View]: I couldn't get a clear view of the front stage since I was seated in the way back, but the sound quality was loud and clear which is probably the most import aspect for a live comedy club. [Service]: Service was relatively good given the room was completely packed. I received my taco order in 15 minutes and the staff didn't forget my beverage. [Food - 3 Shredded Chicken Street Tacos for $14 - extra $1 to replace ONE shredded chicken to shredded beef]: Tacos tasted alright - not as bad as I thought but also not exactly amazing. Salsa wasn't all that bad. [Conclusion]: My overall experience was mediocre - free parking but hit-and-miss on availability, good sound quality but hard to see the stage in the back, passable food but overpriced, and hit-and-miss comedians (saw Michael Blaustein and he was at his best grilling the live audience, but not all audience was participating and gave him little materials to work with so it was an alright show). When: Sunday Labor Day Weekend Parking: Easy to find free parking in the structure across the street. There were multiple spots starting on the second level. Ambience: They really pack in the Improv! I got GA tickets and it is first come, first seated. You really can't have a bad seat unless you're behind someone really tall. The back of the theater wasn't too far from the stage. We got seated in the second section form the stage at the end of the table. It was enjoyable to get to know the other people sitting next to us- we had some pre-comedy show laughs! We saw Rob Schneider and no one told me he would sing 7 songs throughout his show. He didn't absolutely suck but his microphone certainly could have been turned down. Service: I recommend to order immediately as you sit down to beat the rush. They have a QR code on the tabletop as well as servers making their rounds to place your order in-person if you need. We asked for waters the first time we talked and unfortunately never got them. These servers and the kitchen staff have to feed 500 people in an hour. They work very hard!!! What I tasted: Buffalo chicken boneless wings - I honestly loved these. They were giving chicken nuggets and you just know how good these hit when buzzed. The mint mojito was nice and light with soda water and just a little on the sweet side. It was very easy to drink, like water. The tacos were delicious- I enjoyed both the beef and chicken. They were moist with fresh toppings and salsa. Another reviewer mentioned the tortillas fell apart easily and that is exactly what I experienced. Kind of kills the taco vibe... But they really were yummy. Overall thoughts: I loved the Brea Improv! It is a well-run venue with extremely easy parking with a not-so-scary walk for 2 girls. We were so excited to see Melissa Villaseñor perform! I've seen her perform there since like 2012! Without even telling her, Brea Improv cancelled her shows to make room for another comic who wanted to change their dates. What a disappointment. That's no way to treat your performers! She did not deserve that disrespect. Also the seating arrangements at Brea Improv are a nightmare. Be prepared to feel like you're sitting in a mess hall at a long table, with no convenient view of the performer. read more

The Brea Improv is a huge comedy club. It is clean and well maintained. I like the dim lighting. I wish the chairs were more comfortable. The booths are the way to go! My husband and I went to see Alonzo Bodden. He was funny and it was enjoyable. I enjoyed my time at this comedy club. The parking structure across from the improv, is free to park. I like free lol I ordered a few drinks and a snack. Here's my rating of the things I tried. Lavender Lemonade 10/10 This was delicious and so refreshing! It had a nice lavender flavor and the lemonade part was not too sour. Very well balanced. My favorite drink! Non- alcoholic daiquiri 5/10 This tasted like a slushie lol Just a pure sugary drink. It wasn't my favorite. I am happy they had a non alcoholic option though. Deep Fried Oreos 10/10 These were amazing!!! Truly, really good. I've had deep fried Oreos before at the fair, but these were way better than that! They were very rich. Make sure you are ready for something sweet. The coating tasted good and was fried so it had a nice crunch when you took a bite. Cranberry juice 5/10 It tasted very watered down. Maybe it wasn't real cranberry juice and was the one that only contains 5% juice lol It just wasn't good. I wouldn't recommend that drink. read more

Something fun and different. Laughter is so important for us. It's nice to take a break from the daily grind and have a good laugh. There are plenty of restaurants in the area to choose from before the show, but they also offer food if you're in a time crunch.
