Came out with some friends to check out RHouse and decided to grab some chicken sandwiches. This is probably one of my favorite stalls. I came out a second night and they sold out of their sandwiches - I guess they're just that good. I ordered the Katsu Sando, which contained a massive piece of fried chicken, pickles, cabbage and katsu sauce. The fried chicken was on point. Extra crispy with some major heat, and the meat itself was tender and juicy. With the chicken, pickles, and katsu sauce, the sandwich was jam packed with flavor. The chicken was delivered in a potato bun and while I love potato buns, it didn't feel sturdy enough for all the contents. But I was still pretty satisfied overall. (3/15/2017) Went nuts in our first visit to R House, the new "eat-porium" in Remington. Place is a renovated auto showroom (Anderson's), gorgeous, new industrial chic kind of way. Love the different niches to suit different dining styles and sizes (little chairs for little people), including booths, cafeteria-style, bar-style facing no one so you don't have to make small talk, and crawl around spaces (for little or big kids). About a dozen or so stalls to start with some incubator/pop-up mini-stalls. Heard much about the infamous BRD "Chick Fil-A" knock-off sandwich. Def not fast food (although, didn't really expect it to be), but took 3X as long as the estimated 5-10 minutes, which stretched out to over half an hour to get a chicken sandwich ($10) and 6 small wings ($8). Love the tart, sour, thick sliced pickles and spicy mayo on the sandwich. They use a Martin's potato roll which is slightly sweet, a nice pairing, but small for the filling and a little too soft to hold up. Breast was a little dry buried inside a voluminous amount of very spicy, highly seasoned breading. It's a beauty to behold at first, but beware, it's all for looks and mostly breading. Wings were fried then sauced, a touch small, also rather dry. Thai-style was essentially Mae Ploy Sweet Chilli Sauce poured over top. Tasty. Pretty pricey for what you got. read more

Best place in R House!!! Had the katsu chicken burger and baltimore buffalo wings. The burger is beyond amazing!!! Chicken is perfectly fried and crispy, and you get your money's worth in proportion. Love love love!! The baltimore buffalo wings were a bit saucy/oily for my liking. The sauce tasted like old bay mixed with buffalo sauce, but I would've preferred it without the old bay. Hubby and I were excited to try BRD for the first time. Sadly, it ended with a disappointment. We've been to R. House before and noticed this establishment. Made a mental note for a future visit: "We have to return and try BRD!" Fast forward to a few days ago, we ordered Bmore Brd, Angry Buffalo and fries. Fries - good! Customer service - good! BRD has a great aesthetic- huge, juicy chicken sandwiches. However, taste wise, it's comparable to Chick-fil-a, even with with different sauces. BLUF: A great Maryland twist on the crispy chicken sandwich. This place is tucked away in R House with an assortment of other excellent take out choices. They had a variety of choices for the classic crispy chicken sandwich, including Vietnamese, Japanese, and BBQ variants. Personally, they all sounded delicious - I tried the Maryland BRD. At first glance, it looks like a regular chicken sandwich with pickles, very reminiscent of Chick-fil-A. But there is substantially more chicken with toasted buttery buns and the classic Old Bay seasoning, giving it the good ole Maryland touch. Be careful on the first bite! BRD is located inside R.House, so it's kind of large food court area where you can sit anywhere. There's plenty of seats. I love what they did in here, and it's a very family friendly environment. There were also a lot of kids running around. There is a parking area in front of R. House, but it's very small. There's another free parking area at the Baltimore Police parking lot (there's a sign before you enter the parking area that says you can also park over there). Now getting into the food... the line was longer here than at other restaurants. It's a very basic menu. You can actually see the chicken batter and coating done right in front of you which is actually really neat. The fries are also freshly made. One thing to take note of is that the chicken sandwiches are HUGE. There are actually 2 pieces of chicken in there. Hanoi sandwich: I ordered this one. Quite honestly this was not the best fried chicken sandwich that I've ever had. However the chicken was cooked really well, and it was very crispy and delicious. I feel like the sauce was a little too much in here. Bmore sandwich: My husband ordered this one, and I had some of it as well. This was definitely the best sandwich!! The seasoning was everything. And the chicken was perfectly crispy and cooked really well. I highly recommend this one. French Fries: Ok these fries are amazing and my absolute favorite!! They are seasoned really well. Also these are just slightly crispy and not too mushy which I like. Drinks: I ordered the sweet tea and was glad that it was not overly sweet. My husband's lemonade was good. I had the Hanoi hen and my friend had the bmore brd and we both super enjoyed our sandwiches!!! I will say that my top bun got pretty wet because of the pickled daikon and carrots so I ended up eating it open faced but that was fine with me. Also, we got the carrot slaw as a side and neither of us liked it so we don't recommend that. This place sits in the colossal shadow that is Ekiben. I can't get the Bmore BRD without making a comparison in my head to the Neighborhood bird there. The sandwich here just doesn't stack up. The flavor is pretty straightforward for fried chicken and the chicken does stay plenty juicy. The breading is kind of it's downfall as it's not very delicate and after eating the entire sandwich, my mouth feels kind of sore after. The bread also isn't very memorable. It is nice that it's close to the Homewood campus if you're a student so it might be worth trying the food here for convenience. read more

This place is my guiltiest pleasure. The original BRD sandwich hits my taste buds and softly caresses my soul. Everything about it, from the perfectly spiced sauce (I always ask for extra), to the amazingly juicy, crispy, fresh fried chicken just feels almost decadent. I usually take the top tender off and eat that first, then eat the rest as a sandwich. I recently visited R House in Remington for the second time. The first time I visited was for the Vintage Flea Market which was a great event. For this visit, my colleagues and I decided to have an offsite meeting. Finally, I had the opportunity to check out BRD stall and I was not disappointed at all! I ordered the Jerk Chicken Sandwich which came with fries. The burger was fried to perfection and topped with their signature jerk sauce that is to die for! We could barely get through the meeting because we were talking about how delicious the food was. The customer service at BRD was top notch and they got my order correct on the first try (this is important for me when visiting an establishment like this). Um. Yuck. If you are a big fan of the Popeye's chicken sandwich people have gone wild for...you'll probably like this place. If, like us, you don't get all the hype for Popeye's you probably won't get the hype for this place. We each go the Katsu Sando, Bombay Brd and Sweet Thai Chili Wings Husband said his Katsu was just ok. It wasn't bad per se, but he wouldn't go back there to eat it again. My Bombay Brd was not good. The best words to describe this sandwich are "bland" and "too much." Odd combo right? First, it had an entire heaping half cup of shredded carrots on it. Truly. We got this to go and were at home so I literally got out a measuring cup to check I was so shocked at the shear amount as I was taking it off. I'm not opposed to carrots but....whoa. This was a LOT. Onto the sauce. Gave a tiny bit if heat but still managed to have no real taste otherwise. That is just....weird. As to the sauce volume.....there was so much sauce it was spilling out of the sandwich EVERYWHERE. Which was both horribly messy and unappealing and led to the next problem. The bread was a soggy, gloopy mess. I tried three bites with the bread, my husband tried one. After that we took it apart to try just the meat because the bread wasn't just bland over soft, it was so sodden it was gross. Upon taking the sandwich apart to try maybe just the meat / filling...found a solid 1/4 cup of cilantro. Not bad, just again...why SOOO much? Then the chicken. On it's own there is absolutely ZERO flavor to this. The sandwiches look super huge with all the carrots and other fillers, but if you actually look into any of the chicken....it's 70-80% breading. I kept thinking it might just be the random chunk I was eating. Nope. Peeled the breading off of one and was left with a piece of chicken pounded super thin. Again, breading had no flavor. Meat had no flavor. Couldn't find one thing about this sandwich that lived up to the hype. The initial visuals are over the top, but that's it. It's all hype and visual. No substance to back it up. The sweet thai wings were the best part of the meal. Still nothing wow, but better than the sandwiches. They were kind of soft and fatty. Maybe not fried hard / long enough. Again, not bad, just meh. By far, one of the best fried chicken sandwiches I've had in a long time. First time at R House, and my friend's were recommending me about this place. This place did not disappoint at all. Chicken is hella flavorful and crunchy. The portion of the chicken sandwich was huge, my friend and I couldn't even finish our own sandwiches. As well as even finishing our fries too. The pricing is great, $9 for a huge chicken sandwich and it was worth every penny. Even with a fairly busy line yesterday, it still came out pretty fast.
