I went in looking for a particular part, and noticed all the similar looking carburetors on the counter. I asked the parts service person for any tips. He took one apart and showed me specifically to look for and clean out two holes (one being VERY tiny) on the needle valve. After searching, I found it and cleaned it out, and it started up right away! There is nothing like that kind of service at the box stores -- especially for small engine repair.

Just past these doors supposedly was a garage. I found some helpers, instead. They told me that the front clerk had assumed I was looking for a lawnmower sharpening. We went back to the front cashier, and they pointed out to her that it was a hand tool, not a machine, and that it was right there at the tips of her fingers. She assumed the wrong service I had come for. She also assumed, I guess, that with gray hair and a frumpy dress, that I was part senile. She was really breezy when she did not take the time to properly ID my item. She was really apologetic after her coworkers did her job for her. It's the attitude and the assumptions that got to me. This store was no exception, and was large, but what stood out to me was the terrazzo floors and staircases going to the lower floor. It reminded me a bit of department stores from my youth. The location is downtown, and it's clearly a building with history. One of the things I've been saying to my husband lately is that I miss the days of department stores, and this store had a bit of that feel. On top of that, we went to the counter, asked the employee about this particular light bulb and were pointed to the exact location, and they had said somewhat uncommon lightbulb in stock. $3. A win.

Yesterday my friend and I who went because we kept trying to find a lightbulb for outside that wasn't so bright it would shine in our eyes when we sit outside on the patio. So we decided to go here. Staff told us about a lightbulb that just would shine down so we tried it, and it's perfect! We never would have known there was such a thing. So, yes, even for something that sounds little like a lightbulb it's the place to go!!

Being suckers for these types of places, which there are many in Wisconsin, we decided to stop on our road-trip up north. Yes there is a real business here that sells hardware, trailers, doors and windows - which we did browse but the main attraction is the outside space that is filled with endless statues, sculptures, kitschy displays, old advertisements, giant animals, scrap art, etc. You have to see it to believe it. If you like this type of Americana do drive out of your way to experience this attraction. Also do take a spin through the hardware store - this is no Home Depot!

There is another older gentlemen on site that knew everything about the dock systems (went back for another 8 ft section the next day), and he was super helpful. Any way, the dock system was the best priced around by at least $2,000 and it is high quality and very easy to put together. I would go buy another dock system here if I needed one. Great value for the money for sure!!!
