    Moules (mussels)

Our Canadian friends picked this place and what a good place it was! Very typical French food (the Moules were as good as the ones we had in Brussels) and the Veal Ravioli was superb! The service was impeccable. Every time our shell-bowl started to fill up, one of the servers came by and replaced it with a fresh one. This was a truly lovely dinner in a sweet part of Outremont (the streets are only open to pedestrians in the Summer!) Make a reservation, and if you can't get one online, call the restaurant! Go early (6pm) before it gets really busy!

I was directed to a particular restaurant on the same street by a local friend but it was closed so I came here instead. I had a nice spot on the outside patio. The staff was typical French with attitude but I was well taken care of. I had the Lamb burger: pistachio and almond pesto, caramelized onions, with fries. This was very flavorful. Loved all the toppings. Well cooked. The fries were very crisp but tasty. Liked the mayo dipping sauce. The bread basket to start was also great. I had to keep myself from eating it all. Several options of bread - all tasty. I definitely liked this traditional French brasserie. The food and staff attitude was what I wanted!

Alex made our family reunion so special. The food and atmosphere are of the best in town. Highly recommend.

I won a Yelp contest to taste Brasserie Bernard's late night menu. This lovely French spot is located on Bernard street in Outremont and odds are you've probably passed by if you've walked or driven by Bernard street before. Their late night menu starts as of 9 PM and offers a wonderful variety of appetizer and main course for $27 which is quite a deal considering the quality and presentation of their food. For the appetizer, I ordered the fried calamari which was really good and quite rich as you can imagine. It came with a really nice sauce and lemon to compliment the dish. For the main course, I ordered the classic salmon tartare which was excellent and on the spicy side which ( the way I like it). The dish also came with a choice of fries or salad. I balanced my meal with the salad. Last but not least, the desserts!!!! I shared a maple pudding chômeur and a dark chocolate fondant. Both were served with ice cream and absolutely heavenly and worth every calorie. Overall wonderful experience, great service, great food and wonderful ambiance at a very reasonable price if you're willing to dine a bit later. I would definitely come back again. Thank you Yelp and Brasserie Bernard!

Came here with 2 friends for dinner and sat on the terrasse, which was great. The atmosphere is nice and cozy and the decor is chic with a Parisian style. The service was good, our waitress gave us her recommendations and made sure we had everything we needed. We had to ask for a few things extra, but overall the service was great. We ordered a glass of wine each and a few appetizers to share. I had the salmon tartare and warm goat cheese on a brioche. Everything was good. However, everything on the menu is pretty pricey. I don't mind paying more for high quality food, but there was just nothing special to it. It was good. I'd go back on a date night since the decor is so nice and romantic - but only for drinks and appetizers.

While visiting Montreal and my family's cousin we had a little family gathering at Brasserie Bernard. I was a little worried by the 2 reviews on Yelp but our hosts had been to Brasserie Bernard previously and enjoyed their experience. Brasserie Bernard is in in the Outremont section of Montreal. It was an easy 10-15 minute Uber ride from our hotel near Old Montreal. The restaurant is a beautiful French-inspired bistro. It really reminded me of Paris. It was a pleasant June evening and the windows were open and they had tables outside available. The food we had on this night was excellent. The dishes our party of 6 chose were the Muscles, the Duck Confit, Beef Tartar and the Fried Calamari. The Duck Confit was excellent and the came with an arugula salad. The muscle dish was very big and the leek and cheddar broth was very tasty. The fries were good too. The calamari was crispy and tender. We had a few great desserts but the standout was the Pudding chomeur with maple syrup, Wow that was good. The service all night was great and the staff was very friendly, the meal for 6 people including taxes and tips with a few beers was around $USD195.00. This was reasonable for a restaurant of this quality and charm.

This is place is one my favorites. It's a cozy place with a french touch. You can go there with a date or a good friend to gossip. It's in the Outremont neighborhood, which is chic and classy. The waiters are very nice and polite, you feel their long training which rare in Montréal! I love their crispy bread with a touch of butter, that they serve before food. I ask for a pint of draft Grolsch beer. Also, I don't read the menu, since I always choose the same dishes: I start with a dozen of oysters, then a grilled hanger steak with white wine and thyme shallots and fries, accompanied. It's simply delicious.....

I came here with my friend for lunch. I thought the terrace was really nice with enough space. Our waiter was attentive and professional. However, it is a pricey menu. I don't mind paying more when the food is worth it, but I didn't think there was anything exceptional with my dishes. I got the lunch special, which is 24$ for a table d'hôte and that includes an entrée and a meal. I had a salad that lacked flavor and the duck since they were out of the other option. The duck itself was rough, although the more cooked parts were tender. I didn't finish it. I did like the vermicelli and veggies though. I also tried my friend's lentil soup, which was good, but it tasted like it would anywhere else. I think this place is overpriced for what it is.

I came here for dinner with my aunt and I loved it! The food is very good! I would have given it five stars but the service wasn't the best. For example, the waiter filled my aunt's glass with water but didn't fully mine even though mine was empty and I was really thirsty. Also I practically had to chase after the waiter to order a second cocktail. So I started wit the gin aperol cocktail. I had smthg similar at mousso but less fancy looking. I'm starting to realize that gin n aperol is a great mix n should try to make it at home. I also had the jalapeno margarita. It wasn't too spicy. We shared the grilled octopus entree. It was very good but I wouldn't say it was the best I've had. Then I had the duck confit as a main and my aunt had the classic salmon tartare and ordered fries. It was all very good. No complaints here. For dessert we had the fondant au chocolat. If I can tear myself out of bed I will come back and try their brunch.

Got to try some delicious food during my short weekend trip to Montreal Quebec…read more A friend organized a lunch for everyone before we all headed to the airport and funny enough this restaurant was in the hotel my friend and i stayed at. The restaurant was super quiet when we went as it was a Monday afternoon when most people were probably at work. The interior was quite elegant very clean and royalty looking. The service was 10/10. Waiter was very attentive and we could tell he paid attention to detail. He gave great food recommendations and definitely had knowledge of what's on the menu. Now as for how the food and prices were? Prices i'd say are pretty standard and reasonable. The squash soup was so yum and comforting. It had a puree texture to it. Good serving size. I would order it again! We obviously had to have some mimosas and yes we paired it with orange juice. The duck confit may have been a bit too much for me. Large portion and i couldn't even finish half of it. But it wasn't dry and the veggies had a nice crunch and the lentils were very filling and healthy. The flavour notes all went together but i'd definitely say the dish was more on the healthier side. The chicken supreme on the other hand .. although healthy it was still cheesy and buttery. Considering it was chicken breast it didn't even taste dry so i definitely appreciated that. The risotto paired with it was the star of the show! The restaurant takes resos online and they do have brunch on the weekends, happy hour menu looks promising. If i'm ever in town again and in the area i'd want to try their happy hour or chacuterie spread!

We were traveling most of the day and exhausted, debated room service or going downstairs, we were…read morepleasantly surprised at how good the food and service are. (Hotel restaurants, can be good/bad) We were definitely not dressed up which I was worried about but it wasn't an issue, we started with beef carpaccio and charcuterie, the pate was absolutely amazing as were all the cured meats. The beef carpaccio, was for me a little bland, I would have hit it with a touch of salt, but once you got a piece th at had balsamic drizzle it really opened it up and changed my mind. (I wish there was a little more of the balsamic. My husband had the Cornish hen, and I had the filet mignon, both were absolutely amazing, I even stole a little of his Bleu cheese for my steak. Steak was cooked perfectly, the sides were amazing. Our server was on point, his name was Pedro, I had asked him to send out a dessert privately and it was our 1 year anniversary, even though we were not dressed for the occasion as we were both exhausted from travel, We will probably be in for lunch tomorrow!
