I want to preface my review with the positives, Londyn was our server & was truly so kind, thorough, and friendly. The restaurant itself is clean & all tables have clear views of the TVs on game days. Now for the room for improvement- the food was very underwhelming. Being from the Chicago area previously, I regularly advocate for the Chicago food scene, and this unfortunately did not meet those standards. We ordered the Brussels sprouts, buffalo cauliflower, wings, and sesame ginger salad: -Brussel sprouts: tasted like they weren't seasoned just air fried and drenched in balsamic dressing -Buffalo cauliflower: soggy, unseasoned, runny buffalo sauce -Wings: PERFECTLY CRISPY, but no flavor (we ordered lemon pepper & buffalo) -Sesame ginger salad: sloppy mix of vegetables tossed in an overly sweet sauce with no sesame or ginger flavor in sight If you're not going to eat, this is probably a great spot, but from a food standpoint, there is room for improvement.

The atmosphere was fantastic, our server struck the perfect balance between attentive and giving us space, and both cocktails I tried were creative and delicious. The truffle fries were pretty mediocre, but even that wouldn't have stopped me from giving Arbella five stars. What did? Discovering afterward that a 5% "service charge" had been added to the bill. I really dislike this growing practice of restaurants and bars adding percentage-based fees rather than simply pricing their menu accordingly, and it was enough to cost an otherwise excellent experience two stars. Ambiance: 5/5 Arbella absolutely nails the atmosphere. I came here on a date, and it was a great choice for that. The music was good, the lighting and decor created a really intimate vibe, and our booth was comfortable enough that we could settle in and actually enjoy the evening. There was energy in the room without it being so loud or overwhelming that we couldn't have a conversation. Even the menu design and presentation fit the experience. If you're looking for somewhere that feels elevated, interesting, and still comfortable for a date, Arbella definitely checks those boxes. Service: 5/5 Our server was fantastic. This was one of those rare occasions where someone found exactly the right balance between being attentive and not constantly interrupting our date. We never felt forgotten about, but we also had plenty of space to enjoy ourselves and talk. I especially appreciated the recommendations. Whenever we had a question or wanted guidance on what to order, our server was knowledgeable and genuinely helpful rather than simply pushing something on the menu. Excellent service from beginning to end. Drinks & Food: 4/5 The cocktails were easily the highlight. I tried the First You Take The Graham and the Trankilo Melon, and both were really good while also being different enough from what I would normally order to make the experience more memorable. This is exactly what I want from a cocktail bar: drinks that make me curious enough to try something new and then actually deliver. The truffle fries, however, were mid at best. They weren't terrible, but compared with how impressive everything else felt, they were forgettable. I'd absolutely come back for the cocktails, but I'd choose something different to eat next time. About That 5% Service Charge... This is unfortunately where Arbella lost me, and ultimately why I cannot give the experience five stars. I didn't notice until reviewing my bill afterward that a 5% service charge had been added. I strongly dislike this increasingly common practice of restaurants and bars adding percentage-based fees to the bill. If operating costs have increased, I would much rather an establishment incorporate those costs transparently into its menu prices so I know what I'm agreeing to pay when I order. Calling it a "service charge" also creates unnecessary confusion, particularly when customers are still expected to decide what to tip their server. At a cocktail-focused establishment, where you may be ordering multiple drinks throughout an evening rather than paying attention to every line of the check, I think fees like this need to be extremely clear and prominent before ordering, not something a customer discovers afterward. For me, it feels like an extra charge for simply using the establishment in exactly the way it was intended to be used. Overall: 4/5 The frustrating part is that without the service charge, this probably would have been a five-star review. Arbella gave us a genuinely great date night: beautiful atmosphere, excellent service, creative cocktails, and a space I otherwise would have happily recommended and returned to. Instead, that 5% fee left a sour final impression on what had been an excellent evening. It may seem small, but transparency around pricing matters to me. Arbella did so much right that I want to come back, but the service charge is significant enough that I would think twice before doing so.

I had the pleasure of visiting Brasstack, a restaurant and bar tucked away inside the Waldorf. Located just a block away from my place, this spot has become my go-to for unwinding after a long day at work. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it an ideal spot for anyone looking to enjoy a drink or two in the company of friends or even solo. On my last visit, I was fortunate to have Leannor as my bartender. His friendliness and attentiveness truly made me feel at home, keeping me company and entertained throughout my time there. Leannor's warm demeanor is a true testament to Chicago's reputation for friendliness, making my visit memorable and enjoyable! Margeaux is worth it, simply put. We took my mother here for her birthday, and it was a terrific experience all round. We started at the bar while our table was readied, with a couple drinks and baked oysters, very good. For dinner - we had an endive Caesar salad which was perfectly seasoned, well dressed, and edible as ginger food. The lobster gnocchi was delicious, just the right amount of lobster, as well as perfectly cooked gnocchi in an absolutely amazing sauce. There were also some quite tasty, slightly spicy, kimchi broth dumplings. For mains we chose the steak frites - executed perfectly as you can expect from a good French restaurant, and the roasted chicken which was simply delightful. Perfectly cooked, juicy, and seasoned. If in Chicago, I definitely recommend a trip to Margeaux, it is reasonably priced for its location (inside the Waldorf), quality, and brand (Michael Mina). read more

Not good food. Lovely hostess. Professional and gentlemanly manager. In fact, because of his notes responding to my previous review, i decided to give Margeaux Brasserie a second chance. Perhaps too soon. Margeaux breakfast steak and eggs. OK. I give them this: when you say medium rare, they do it correctly unlike many American restaurants. Pancake. Almost un-edible as hungry as I was. Damn sweet. Even without the maple syrup. The actual pancakes were loaded with sugar. I had asked a few times I wanted my coffee with my meal. It arrived right as I was about to give up on the food, and the coffee. I could not help but think this is normal hotel food, served in a fancy hotel, at fancy hotel restaurant prices. I suggest Nico, or Zinc close by at much better quality, taste, service and food. I doubt I go back. read more

The fries were the soft, soggy kind rather than crunchy, but somehow addictive, I kept reaching for them. Service was fine, and the space is roomy with plenty of seating, easy to settle in and talk over a long brunch.

What an awful time!…read more We chose this restaurant based on their "pre-theater" menu special. When we arrived, they said the offer no longer applied. When we ordered wine, we were served different varieties than what we ordered. The service was slow and disorganized. The brick chicken was tough and tasteless. This defines the term "tourist trap".

They have outdoor patio seating, upstairs dining and downstairs dining. We sat downstairs and it was cozy and comfy. They had a large bar downstairs to sit at if you didn't have a reservation. All the staff were welcoming and our waiter was the best! He provided great recommendations, was attentive and funny. To drink we started with a bottle of Pighin Friuli Pinot Grigio. It was cold, crisp and yummy. They give you fresh warm bread to snack on while you order. For food I ordered the rigatoni alla vodka with grilled chicken. One of the best meals I've had in a while!!! The chicken was juicy and flavorful. Price was on the higher side but for the food you get, it definitely is worth it. Overall I'd definitely come back!

Great evening at Rosebud!…read more Last night was my first time at the Rosebud on Rush location. Many years ago, I visited another location in the Chicago suburbs. As our hotel was just 2 blocks away, we decided to come here for dinner. So glad we did. We had a 6 pm reservation on a Tuesday evening. There was a short line at the hostess station, then we got seated quickly at a nice 4-top inside. We'd considered outdoor dining and many others were doing just that, but it was still very warm out. The hostess gave us menus as we got seated and very quickly, someone came by with water and a basket of sliced warm bread. A moment later, our waiter, Louis came by to greet us. He was very pleasant. He's been there for 29 years, so he knows this place, knows the menu and knows what the kitchen can and can't do. We needed time to study the dinner menu and wine list. When Louis returned, we asked a few menu questions and ordered a bottle of Stag's Leap Merlot. After enjoying some wine, Louis took our dinner order. The 2 of us shared: - Brick Chicken with Pan Sauce and Broccolini The Brick chicken takes about around a half hour to prepare and that worked out perfect for us and gave us time to enjoy the wine. Let me tell you about this meal.... It was AMAZING! This was the best chicken I have ever eaten! Crispy skin, great seasoning, a wonderful pan sauce and boneless except for the wing drumette. For us, the meal was large as it was a whole chicken (minus the legs) and a whole serving of pasta. We took half these meals home and Louis also packaged up some extra pan sauce. As we were working on our last glasses of wine, Louis asked of we would mine bumping over a table as they were preparing a number of tables for a large party. No problem with us. He also brought us each out a glass of house made Limoncello as a gesture. Not only do I look forward to returning to a Rosebud on our next visit to the Chicago area, I also look forward to trying to make my own Brick Chicken at home. Thank you for a great experience Rose Bud on Rush, Louis, his partner and the entire staff.

I had been enjoying the city after a day of shopping and dinner at Joe's. A friend recommended this lovely bar/lounge. We are not from these parts of the U.S. and love to explore. This lounge is on the second floor of the Chicago Athletic Association building. Part of the Hyatt chain. I was warmly greeted by host and placed next to an old fireplace in front of the bar area. I was seated facing the entire lobby. I was enjoying the Gothic architecture. It was dark and a soothing atmosphere. I appreciated the appropriate music playing as well. It was a perfect way to end my day. I had a glass of champagne and my server recommended the Basque cheesecake. Which was perfect cause I recently visited San Sebastian, Spain. The Basque region makes a great cheesecake. The burned caramelized top complimented my champagne well. There is a room/bar in the back room of where I was. A great bar with games and TVs for sports. After enjoying my nightcap, I walked downstairs and was able to order a ride-share and wait in the warm entry of the building. This hotel is directly across the famous Bean which is in the beautiful Millennium Park. During the day, I highly recommend checking that park out.
