Beautiful breakfast and delicious pumpkin French toast. We really enjoyed the great coffee menu, too!
I was excited to try this cafe with my friends after seeing that it had many positive Yelp reviews, but I was severely disappointed in the taste of my drink and in the service throughout our visit. Though the shop was cute, clean, and had a lovely covered patio outside, I wouldn't recommend it for those stopping by for coffee on road trips. I got a seasonal spring drink called the Irish Cream Mocha and asked for it iced. Unfortunately, it just tasted like chocolate milk. Now, I like a good chocolate milk, but not when I paid for a specialty flavored mocha! I didn't detect an Irish cream flavor or even a hint of mocha. As a latte, it was way too milky and lacked the depth of an espresso drink. Contrary to its description on the menu, it wasn't balanced at all. How misleading. My friend tried one of the craft energy drinks, and it looked pretty, but she said that it was flat and tasted kinda meh. She also got a visually-appealing soda, which apparently tasted much better compared to the energy drink. Another friend ordered the seasonal Dulce de Leche Latte, and she mentioned that it was a bit too light-tasting as a latte. That checks out since my mocha also seemed like it was missing the coffee component haha. Her latte did taste like a caramelly drink made with actual dulce de leche, but she didn't appreciate that the "light" dusting of cinnamon was more like a heaping teaspoon of it thrown into the drink. We noticed that our receipts showed a higher price than what was printed on the menus. We only found out after paying and reviewing the receipts that they charge $0.75 for making drinks iced. We weren't informed of this charge by any of the ladies at the registers upon ordering, and we didn't see any signs stating that iced drinks would incur an additional charge. No explanation anywhere. Another thing that threw me off was when a certain barista handed off the completed drinks in the pickup area. She wasn't wearing gloves, and I don't think she washed her hands in-between tasks, but she was placing the drinks onto the counter while holding them by the top part, aka the lid from where people drink! I was shocked at how unbothered she was while doing that, as if that's how she was trained, or she was never corrected.
This is one of the best coffee shops I've been too! I crave their breakfast burrito year round and every time I'm in carp I have to stop! The pastries, the outdoor fire pits, the coffee, the matcha, the food! Every item I've ever gotten has been unreal!! They are the best of the best! You must stop if you are in carp!
While in the area on Saturday afternoon we came here to get coffee. They were almost closing so we barely got our coffees to go. I ordered a mint cold brew which was amazing. I enjoyed it very much. My husband got an Americano and said it was ok. My son liked his cappuccino and the cookie he got. They serve sandwiches, salads, pastries and more. You can eat breakfast or lunch here. Both indoor and outdoor seating is available. The outdoor area is really cute with lots of tables and chairs and plants all around. Great ambiance. Customer service was ok, not too friendly but not bad either. Next time I'll stop by here before any activities, might have a better experience.
First time at Brass Bird Coffee & Kitchen and it delivered. The honey salted latte had that perfect sweet and salty kick, smooth and balanced. Breakfast burrito was hearty, fresh, and exactly what you want to start the day. Solid Carp breakfast stop.
Just came in to relax and have a coffee. I ordered and then went to get a cup of water. The water was all gone. I told the employee working there and instead of refilling it or getting someone to refill it, she busied herself cleaning tables and dumping the dishes into the bin making lots of noise. Then she proceeded to work on the trash bins. I never got the water. I tried cafe au lait for the first time and would not get it again. Should have got a cappuccino. I decided to pour my coffee in a cup and just leave.
We stopped by to grab breakfast and it did not disappoint. The burrito was flavorful, and the salsa paired well. The tortilla was cooked perfectly as well as the eggs. I am very picky with my breakfast burritos, but this one was perfect. The matcha on the other hand, not the best. Kind of tasted more like Nesquik strawberry milk with a hint of matcha. If you like your matcha on the sweeter side this is the place for you! Their coffee on the other hand was great, no complaints there! I did a To-go order, which was ready before the set time. Especially with being on the go I appreciate the timely response. The staff were super nice and even offered a water cup for our dog. Definitely stopping by when I'm back!
Seems like a popular little spot in Carpinteria! It was a little hectic figuring out where to order at first, but once we got situated everything moved pretty smoothly. The outdoor seating was super cute with little steel tables and chairs, plus plenty of umbrellas for anyone sensitive to the sun. The menu was simple but had vegetarian options, and they also had a case full of bakery goodies that looked delicious. I ordered the white mocha decaf with oat milk and a breakfast sandwich -- both were really good! There wasn't too much interaction with the staff, but they kept the line moving and got the food out quickly. Overall, a great location within walking distance to shops and gardens that we enjoyed strolling through after breakfast. Definitely worth stopping by!
This quickly became my choice for breakfast in Carpinteria. It's clearly both a local and tourist favorite--by 8 a.m. there was already a crowd, and when we drove by around 11, even the outdoor seating was full. Food My dad ordered the Avocado Toast (avocado, tomato, pickled shallots, olive oil, lemon zest, micro basil, balsamic drizzle). There's an option to add a soft egg, which he wanted but forgot to mention. It looked beautiful, though the taste leaned on the simple side. As Indians, we prefer more seasoning in avocado, but avocado purists will probably appreciate the clean, straightforward flavor. My mom and I both had the Breakfast Sandwich (egg, sausage, cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, tomato, arugula). Served on sourdough bread, it was an elevated version of a classic--arguably one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had. The sourdough was a perfect choice, adding a slight tang and sturdiness without being too heavy. Whatever spread they use ties everything together, making it flavorful without being greasy. Bonus points for that bread! We also shared the Pumpkin Sticky Bun--imagine pumpkin pie filling baked into a sticky bun. It was heavenly and the perfect sweet finish on a cool fall morning. If I lived in town, I'd come back just for that. The menu also tempts with items like the Sweet Loco Monkey Toast, Savory Breakfast Tartin, and Griddled Banana Bread with Whipped Honey Ricotta. Bakery & Lunch Beyond breakfast, there's a full bakery case with croissants, cookies, pastries, muffins, and scones, plus paninis and sandwiches for lunch. It's one of those places where you want to take something home for later. Atmosphere Seating is available both indoors and outdoors, with a cozy fire pit adding warmth and ambiance outside. Inside, the space is bright and welcoming, with an elegant yet casual feel that makes it easy to settle in for a relaxed breakfast or mid-morning coffee. Overall Creative menu, great execution, and a lively but comfortable atmosphere. If I lived in Carpinteria, I'd be a regular here for sure. 4.5 stars rounded to 5!
This is always one of our favorite cafes to stop at when we camp at Carpinteria State Beach. It's an easy one mile walk through downtown to get here. Food and drinks are always on point and never a disappointment. Service is always friendly and quick. They have a large outdoor, dog friendly seating area.
This cafe is in a small community. We found this on a road trip and it was definitely worth the side quest. I love the vibe of the cafe. They had a large outside seating area. We came for the breakfast and was sold on the pastries and drinks. You order with the cashier and they bring your food out. There were plenty of umbrellas to protect you from the sun. We ordered the veggie burrito and the BLT. Drinks included lattes and orange juice not pictured. If I could give the food and pastries 10 I would. We tried the Mexican wedding cookie, passion fruit cheesecake, berry vanilla danish and apple coffee cake muffin. This was worth the drive. Please visit. The people were so kind.
So many reasons to love Brass Bird Coffee! The location has awesome outdoor seating with most tables in the shade. There are a few tables inside with the majority of the seating is outside. There was a line to order drinks and food, but it moved quickly. We ordered a hot cinnamon horchata latte, an iced horchata latte, a hot chocolate, the brown sugar cinnamon toaster pastry, and the chocolate croissant. The hot cinnamon horchata latte was amazing. It was sweet without being too sweet. I loved the creamy cinnamon flavor and would come back for this drink. The iced horchata did not taste as good as the hot one. It tasted more diluted with milk. The hot cocoa was not very chocolately so we asked for an extra side of chocolate sauce to add in and it helped make it sweeter. The brown sugar toaster pastry was served warm, which I highly recommend. It was delicious. The chocolate croissant was flaky without being crunchy. Both pastries were delicious, but if I had to chose I would get the brown sugar toaster pastry. The menu at Brass Bird has a variety of sweet and savory food items. I saw some people order full on breakfasts like a breakfast burrito. They also have a variety of drinks to choose from. I loved my first visit here and will definitely come back!
This is a great little coffee shop! There are many things on the menu that I am wanting to try. We got a side of toast (with butter and jam) and a pastry. Employees were very nice and helpful. We sat outside near the fire pit and it was very comfortable!

Oh did I love this place! It appears to be quite a hit in Carpinteria as there were a lot of people and only a few parking spots left in their private parking lot. Ambiance: I loved the spacious outdoor seating with fire pits! Great for the sunny or cold days. Inside was stunning! Very beautifully decorated! When you walk in, you turn to the right and order at the far end of the bar. It's a little inconvenient only because food and beverage pick up is by the front entrance. Nevertheless, I appreciate separate areas in order to prevent people from piling up in one area. There is a side room with a large table that was quaint for a group of friends or family to hang out in. Service: The staff here were friendly and attentive! When I picked up my coffee and food, both staff looked at me and smiled even though they were busy. The owner was also there and engaged with customers. Food/Beverage: There is a wide variety of food and pastries. My mushroom and kale quiche was so good that i forgot to take a picture! I took a few bites of my husband's prosciutto panini was mind-blowing! Fresh and a good amount of all ingredients! Now I have to say that I am quite a coffee snob and I absolutely loved my vanilla latte with oat milk! Oh! So good! My husband loved his iced pumpkin spice latte! Just a darling addition to Carpinteria! I've been waiting for a place like this to open up! read more
I stopped by this cafe for a quick bite and drink. The ham and cheese croissant was the standout item. The croissant was perfect with paper-thin layers perfectly crisped up. With this they offer a generous helping of ham and cheese paired with a dijon mustard that cuts through the heaviness. They reheat the croissant on a press/griddle so the top is a bit squished but I loved the toasty notes. The matcha latte was alright and fulfilled my cravings, but nothing to write home about. I really appreciated the ample amount of interior and patio seating. If you are in town, I'd highly recommend stopping by! read more

A very much welcome fire pit for a brisk coastal morning, spacious outdoor seating, great ambience. Good drip coffee, and the croissant I had was delightful. Flaky on the outside, soft and layered on the inside, not too buttery. Service was friendly, quick, asked if I wanted a mug for here or a cup to go. Nice. Good amount of street parking (90min), also there is a small free lot belonging to the shop. Bike shop next door. Looking forward to coming back next time I'm in Carp! read more

I had a wonderful first experience at Brass Bird last weekend. The establishment is very clean and the employees are very friendly. First off, the staff is WONDERFUL. The barista that took our order was so personable, made us laugh, and just talked with us while we were ordering. It made the visit so much more enjoyable, especially at 7:15 am. I forget her name, but she was blonde and amazing. For coffee, I got the Cinnamon Horchata latte and it was terrific! Also got the breakfast burrito and it was so fresh and filling. I'm going back for the scones next! read more
Hooray, Carp! FINALLY you have a coffee shop besides that dreadfully inefficient Starbucks and the subpar Lucky Llama. I was afraid Brass Bird would never open since their IG handle was created at least 6 months beforehand with a blank webpage. While I would love to return to Brass Bird to work or catch up with a friend, I only had enough time to call in an order and stop by while heading south on the 101. The gal on the phone was very friendly and had our two drinks and food ready within the 10 minutes as promised. There was everything I look for in a coffee house available. A a good-sized parking lot and outdoor patio with fire pits, a fountain and umbrellas. Complimentary Wi-Fi (though I can't speak to the speed yet). The indoor space is beautifully designed with tile and wood, flat screen TV menus and pleasant lighting. The pastry selection is extensive--plus all made in-house. Impressive! Looking at the pastry case I wanted one of everything. Our oat Vanilla Latte and Golden Milk Latte were made with love and perfection. Not too hot, not too sweet. We also ordered an Avocado Toast and their Griddled Banana Bread with whipped honey ricotta. Both were absolutely delicious and just what we needed to start the day off right! Looking forward to visiting again when I can stay longer. read more

Stopped here on a whim down the pacific Coast Highway. There is public parking around the corner from the bakery and the blueberry Cruffin was one of the best pastries I've ever had. Service was great and so was our coffees. Would highly recommend stopping. read more
Ah, Carp needed a place like this. Some decent coffee houses in town, but this place is currently my favorite because it has fire pits, quality furniture, lots of parking, lots of seating, good music, good assortment of pastries and sandwiches, and best of all friendly attentive service! You get it Brass Bird! Regarding coffee, they got the basics and do them well, which I appreciate as an Americano guy. They also have creative drinks that are consistently delicious. Today we tried the Mudwtr Latte, a hot explosion of flavor including organic mushroom blend, Chai spices, cocoa, maple, and more. Tasted So good outside with crisp winter air and the heat off the fire pit. See photo for baristas artwork! Only suggestion: stay open later than 2:30 pm. read more

We really enjoyed this new business in Carp. Great breakfast options and a fantastic patio. We loved the fire pits for cozy November outdoor seating! And very dog friendly. We loved that! Our lattes were very tasty! I didn't catch what type of coffee they use but we really enjoyed it. We also couldn't resist a pastry to share with breakfast. Our breakfast sandwich took a little while to get as another customer accidentally picked up our order but Brass Bird immediately hopped into action to make us another one! Loved that customer service! This new spot was packed and thriving. So happy for them! read more

First off, the shop has great outdoor sitting and is super clean inside and out. The service is also top notch with very friendly cashiers and food runners. Lastly, a rare find to have delicious food with fantastic coffee. I make my own espresso at home with freshly roasted coffee beans. The coffee here is a standout in both Carpinteria and Santa Barbara. We ordered breakfast burritos and breakfast sandwiches. The caramelized onions in both put them over the top. Will be back read more

Came in as we headed back to Phoenix and the coffee and food were great! It looked very busy from the outside but service was quick and easy! Order at the register and then they'll call your name. Love both food items, especially my burrito because it has the perfect amount of everything and the egg wasn't overpowering. My latte was filled with Christmas flavor but my boyfriend felt that his mint cold brew was too minty (ha). They have both indoor and outdoor seating but I wasn't able to capture a picture. read more
What a refreshing addition to Carp! The town was all a buzz with this opening and it did not disappoint! The place is gorgeous! The patio is cozy and inviting and you will not mind sitting outside especially with the fire pits going. Breakfast sandwich is a winner and big enough to share (so you can try other things!) . They have their take on a pop tart and this is a million times better! Hubby had their drip coffee and we recognized it right away as a local roaster in Ojai, Beacon coffee! I had their cinnamon horchata latte..fantastic! Their coffee is made with love and care and you can taste it! Looking forward to this place being on the regular rotation! read more

Rhianna brings huge smiles each morning at Brass Bird as she greets each customer Her creations as a barista are absolutely golden down to the very last drop and compliment this beautiful cafe ... when I first walked into Brass Bird, it felt like stepping into a European cafe... paninis on display, the decor is filled with intricate touches from the lighting structures, to the warm fire pit and grapevines cascading on the terrace, Brass Bird is pure gold. Thank you to Rhianna, Perla, Carter, Jackie, Vicki, Delbert and Ray, the best baristas in the biz! read more
