Beautiful breakfast and delicious pumpkin French toast. We really enjoyed the great coffee menu, too!
I was excited to try this cafe with my friends after seeing that it had many positive Yelp reviews, but I was severely disappointed in the taste of my drink and in the service throughout our visit. Though the shop was cute, clean, and had a lovely covered patio outside, I wouldn't recommend it for those stopping by for coffee on road trips. I got a seasonal spring drink called the Irish Cream Mocha and asked for it iced. Unfortunately, it just tasted like chocolate milk. Now, I like a good chocolate milk, but not when I paid for a specialty flavored mocha! I didn't detect an Irish cream flavor or even a hint of mocha. As a latte, it was way too milky and lacked the depth of an espresso drink. Contrary to its description on the menu, it wasn't balanced at all. How misleading. My friend tried one of the craft energy drinks, and it looked pretty, but she said that it was flat and tasted kinda meh. She also got a visually-appealing soda, which apparently tasted much better compared to the energy drink. Another friend ordered the seasonal Dulce de Leche Latte, and she mentioned that it was a bit too light-tasting as a latte. That checks out since my mocha also seemed like it was missing the coffee component haha. Her latte did taste like a caramelly drink made with actual dulce de leche, but she didn't appreciate that the "light" dusting of cinnamon was more like a heaping teaspoon of it thrown into the drink. We noticed that our receipts showed a higher price than what was printed on the menus. We only found out after paying and reviewing the receipts that they charge $0.75 for making drinks iced. We weren't informed of this charge by any of the ladies at the registers upon ordering, and we didn't see any signs stating that iced drinks would incur an additional charge. No explanation anywhere. Another thing that threw me off was when a certain barista handed off the completed drinks in the pickup area. She wasn't wearing gloves, and I don't think she washed her hands in-between tasks, but she was placing the drinks onto the counter while holding them by the top part, aka the lid from where people drink! I was shocked at how unbothered she was while doing that, as if that's how she was trained, or she was never corrected.
This is one of the best coffee shops I've been too! I crave their breakfast burrito year round and every time I'm in carp I have to stop! The pastries, the outdoor fire pits, the coffee, the matcha, the food! Every item I've ever gotten has been unreal!! They are the best of the best! You must stop if you are in carp!
While in the area on Saturday afternoon we came here to get coffee. They were almost closing so we barely got our coffees to go. I ordered a mint cold brew which was amazing. I enjoyed it very much. My husband got an Americano and said it was ok. My son liked his cappuccino and the cookie he got. They serve sandwiches, salads, pastries and more. You can eat breakfast or lunch here. Both indoor and outdoor seating is available. The outdoor area is really cute with lots of tables and chairs and plants all around. Great ambiance. Customer service was ok, not too friendly but not bad either. Next time I'll stop by here before any activities, might have a better experience.
First time at Brass Bird Coffee & Kitchen and it delivered. The honey salted latte had that perfect sweet and salty kick, smooth and balanced. Breakfast burrito was hearty, fresh, and exactly what you want to start the day. Solid Carp breakfast stop.
Just came in to relax and have a coffee. I ordered and then went to get a cup of water. The water was all gone. I told the employee working there and instead of refilling it or getting someone to refill it, she busied herself cleaning tables and dumping the dishes into the bin making lots of noise. Then she proceeded to work on the trash bins. I never got the water. I tried cafe au lait for the first time and would not get it again. Should have got a cappuccino. I decided to pour my coffee in a cup and just leave.
We stopped by to grab breakfast and it did not disappoint. The burrito was flavorful, and the salsa paired well. The tortilla was cooked perfectly as well as the eggs. I am very picky with my breakfast burritos, but this one was perfect. The matcha on the other hand, not the best. Kind of tasted more like Nesquik strawberry milk with a hint of matcha. If you like your matcha on the sweeter side this is the place for you! Their coffee on the other hand was great, no complaints there! I did a To-go order, which was ready before the set time. Especially with being on the go I appreciate the timely response. The staff were super nice and even offered a water cup for our dog. Definitely stopping by when I'm back!
Seems like a popular little spot in Carpinteria! It was a little hectic figuring out where to order at first, but once we got situated everything moved pretty smoothly. The outdoor seating was super cute with little steel tables and chairs, plus plenty of umbrellas for anyone sensitive to the sun. The menu was simple but had vegetarian options, and they also had a case full of bakery goodies that looked delicious. I ordered the white mocha decaf with oat milk and a breakfast sandwich -- both were really good! There wasn't too much interaction with the staff, but they kept the line moving and got the food out quickly. Overall, a great location within walking distance to shops and gardens that we enjoyed strolling through after breakfast. Definitely worth stopping by!
This quickly became my choice for breakfast in Carpinteria. It's clearly both a local and tourist favorite--by 8 a.m. there was already a crowd, and when we drove by around 11, even the outdoor seating was full. Food My dad ordered the Avocado Toast (avocado, tomato, pickled shallots, olive oil, lemon zest, micro basil, balsamic drizzle). There's an option to add a soft egg, which he wanted but forgot to mention. It looked beautiful, though the taste leaned on the simple side. As Indians, we prefer more seasoning in avocado, but avocado purists will probably appreciate the clean, straightforward flavor. My mom and I both had the Breakfast Sandwich (egg, sausage, cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, tomato, arugula). Served on sourdough bread, it was an elevated version of a classic--arguably one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had. The sourdough was a perfect choice, adding a slight tang and sturdiness without being too heavy. Whatever spread they use ties everything together, making it flavorful without being greasy. Bonus points for that bread! We also shared the Pumpkin Sticky Bun--imagine pumpkin pie filling baked into a sticky bun. It was heavenly and the perfect sweet finish on a cool fall morning. If I lived in town, I'd come back just for that. The menu also tempts with items like the Sweet Loco Monkey Toast, Savory Breakfast Tartin, and Griddled Banana Bread with Whipped Honey Ricotta. Bakery & Lunch Beyond breakfast, there's a full bakery case with croissants, cookies, pastries, muffins, and scones, plus paninis and sandwiches for lunch. It's one of those places where you want to take something home for later. Atmosphere Seating is available both indoors and outdoors, with a cozy fire pit adding warmth and ambiance outside. Inside, the space is bright and welcoming, with an elegant yet casual feel that makes it easy to settle in for a relaxed breakfast or mid-morning coffee. Overall Creative menu, great execution, and a lively but comfortable atmosphere. If I lived in Carpinteria, I'd be a regular here for sure. 4.5 stars rounded to 5!
This is always one of our favorite cafes to stop at when we camp at Carpinteria State Beach. It's an easy one mile walk through downtown to get here. Food and drinks are always on point and never a disappointment. Service is always friendly and quick. They have a large outdoor, dog friendly seating area.
This cafe is in a small community. We found this on a road trip and it was definitely worth the side quest. I love the vibe of the cafe. They had a large outside seating area. We came for the breakfast and was sold on the pastries and drinks. You order with the cashier and they bring your food out. There were plenty of umbrellas to protect you from the sun. We ordered the veggie burrito and the BLT. Drinks included lattes and orange juice not pictured. If I could give the food and pastries 10 I would. We tried the Mexican wedding cookie, passion fruit cheesecake, berry vanilla danish and apple coffee cake muffin. This was worth the drive. Please visit. The people were so kind.
So many reasons to love Brass Bird Coffee! The location has awesome outdoor seating with most tables in the shade. There are a few tables inside with the majority of the seating is outside. There was a line to order drinks and food, but it moved quickly. We ordered a hot cinnamon horchata latte, an iced horchata latte, a hot chocolate, the brown sugar cinnamon toaster pastry, and the chocolate croissant. The hot cinnamon horchata latte was amazing. It was sweet without being too sweet. I loved the creamy cinnamon flavor and would come back for this drink. The iced horchata did not taste as good as the hot one. It tasted more diluted with milk. The hot cocoa was not very chocolately so we asked for an extra side of chocolate sauce to add in and it helped make it sweeter. The brown sugar toaster pastry was served warm, which I highly recommend. It was delicious. The chocolate croissant was flaky without being crunchy. Both pastries were delicious, but if I had to chose I would get the brown sugar toaster pastry. The menu at Brass Bird has a variety of sweet and savory food items. I saw some people order full on breakfasts like a breakfast burrito. They also have a variety of drinks to choose from. I loved my first visit here and will definitely come back!
This is a great little coffee shop! There are many things on the menu that I am wanting to try. We got a side of toast (with butter and jam) and a pastry. Employees were very nice and helpful. We sat outside near the fire pit and it was very comfortable!

Tried it out for the first time. Order at the counter. They give you a number and bring out your drinks and food at different times. Ordered the chilaquiles, breakfast burrito, honey lavender latte, cold brew coffee. All very tasty. Lots of outside seating. Very busy place. Limited parking. Will definitely be back again. read more

First time visiting this place, and I'm not impressed with the matcha latte - it's got a weird play-doh taste. However, the ham and cheese croissant was a pleasant surprise! read more

Cute little spot with ample patio seating. Dog friendly is a great plus. Had the avocado toast. Seemed average. At $15 for a slice, I wanted to really love it. I'd definitely try again and order something else - lots of good reviews and there was always a crowd during my stay. read more
A bit overpriced but with quality ingredients !!! They serve Beacon Coffee with i love! We loved our drinks . They were perfect after our long hike. Tried the horchata latte and caramel iced blend. They do it the right way ... as their motto goes! They also have food which we did not try but it looked yummy! Good service , I would NOT say amazing but good enough. Cute little spot. Love the decor and that they have indoor/outdoor seating. read more
This was my first time ever having lemon ricotta pancakes and at first, the size of them had me a bit concerned if it would satiate my appetite. Upon first bite I was put at ease and enjoyed the dense, hot, smooth, and moist creamy like texture paired well with the freshly grated lemon zest. The fresh berries were a nice touch. I also ordered the Matcha strawberry sparkling soda. The beverage was very refreshing and delicious. The place is bustling and the staff was on their A-game. read more

Iced Vanilla Latte, Iced Salted Honey Vanilla Oatmilk Latte, Apricot Scone, Plain Bagel, and Everything Bagel. Kids said, "Bagels fresh, and good! Perfectly toasted." The apricot scone had great texture and not too sweet. The iced vanilla latte was awesome as well. However, the honey vanilla oatmilk latte was meh I felt like it needed something else, maybe a touch of cinnamon or something? The mix of the vanilla and honey did not seem balanced either it definitely sways more honey which maybe I just didn't expect. Possibly just not my preference too. Staff were very friendly, and professional. They do not have a 2% milk option and would not mix the whole milk and nonfat milk as a customization request stating that when they get too busy it is hard for them to do that, FYI. The place is really cute would be a great place to meet a friend for coffee or breakfast. But maybe if you have specific dietary needs they may not be able to accommodate certain requests. read more

If you are in Carpinteria, this spot is a must for breakfast especially on a beautiful day. There is plenty of outdoor seating! Dog friendly. The breakfast sandwich was delicious, I highly recommend it. My dad said the breakfast burrito was good, but the sandwich is better. My dad really enjoyed the sparkling lemonade. Next time, I want to try one of their coffee drinks. It is a walk up counter style to order. The workers were very friendly. Then you grab a number & they bring the food to your table. If you are in a hurry, they even have a whole selection of premade food! read more
This is a very cute cafe with a lot of space and seating! They have a big menu, but I just ordered a drink. I ordered the strawberry matcha latte that was okay, but the menu said it had a fresh strawberry puree and it tasted a lot more like a strawberry flavor or extract. You can see in my picture that it looks like a plain matcha, but anytime that I have gotten a strawberry matcha latte from other places it always turns into a brownish color when the strawberry is mixed in. If the drink was listed as a strawberry flavored matcha it would have been ok, but I was expecting fresh strawberry and it did not taste like that at all. Workers are very nice here, and I also got a cinnamon pastry that was very tasty. I'll probably order a normal matcha next time! read more

I am a coffee snob and they passed my test with flying colors. The latte was not too hot, so the milk stayed sweet and no need for sugar. The foam made a super cute swan. The coffee drinks take a long time but are worth the wait. The food, on the other hand, comes out fast and they bring it to your table. I had the BLT with a lovely lemon mayo. My family had the chicken pesto sandwich which had a quality chicken breast on it. I also got a blueberry muffin because of other reviews I had read. It was good but a solid B. I will try another flavor next time. There is plenty of seating on the patio and limited seating inside. The little room inside looked appealing at first, but ended up being really loud, so if you need to work, outside is your best bet. However, there is very limited outlets, so bring your device fully charged. I will be going back! read more

My mom worked in Carpinteria for over 25 years. I have my go to spots when I am in town but decided to give brass bird coffee a shot because of the ambiance and aesthetic. Not only is the cafe warm and inviting. The food and coffee is great. I got an iced vanilla late and a breakfast burrito. The salsa on the side (in the picture) fresh and spicy. I am from Ventura and they use beacon coffee's beans to make their coffee. Beacon is the best coffee in the 805 so I am not surprised brass birds coffee is up to par. The patio is gorgeous and a wonderful recommend on a sunny day. read more

The cool Carpinteria coffee , pastry , and breakfast destination to have a business meeting, or sit and relax by the outside fireplace with your best bro, sister or other human unit. Lunch is also always delicious, really nicely prepared. Enjoy any of the fresh baked tasty treats with hot coffee, hot chocolate, matcha, or any of the big list of beverages to meet any flavor requirements. The crew there keeps the place spotless and super clean seems like every time we visit there. Parking is perfect, pull in and park that unit quick and easy. Great for a quick coffee and yummy treat to take away. read more
