I don't live in the area, but I happened to be nearby and had to stop in and check this place out…read more I'm really glad I did. I ordered the chicken mac and cheese, and it was so good. I've ordered the no spice, medium, and hot, and every level was flavorful. Fair warning though, the hot is truly hot and definitely brings the heat in the best way. The hot was my favorite. I skipped the wings and sandwiches this time since they were a bit pricey compared to what I'm used to back home in the city, but honestly the chicken mac and cheese was more than enough to win me over. I would absolutely order it again without hesitation. There are also a few tables if you want to dine in, which is a nice bonus.

Very flavorful with a good chew and the perfect heat with their giardiniera. It's one of those sandwiches that once you pick it up, you can't put it down. Carnivore in Oak Park…read more This is a butcher shop and fish market that also sells sandwiches I can't really decide if the old time decor is by design or if the place is really needing an upgrade. I actually think it's the latter. It's a lot smaller than I imagined with very limited seating. We went here for the grilled salmon sandwich. We had seen many online reviews saying it is amazing. They make the sandwiches right in front of you, so you know that they are fresh. We took our sandwiches to go and by the time we got them home , they were cold. The fries traveled well, but again they were also cold bu the time we got home. The grilled salmon sandwiches were very good, but not great , and I really would have loved to have eaten it warm. Prices are on the high side for the butcher meats. But I guess you should expect that since they are an artisanal butcher. I did not like the look of some of the meats in the cases. Would we go back? Maybe to try the Bacon Burger. But we would definitely recommend eating your food in the butcher shop and not taking it to go. I have just found out that that are moving into Carnival Grocery in Oak Park.

I ordered a burger that was cooked perfectly and full of flavor, and John had the chicken sandwich, which he also really enjoyed. Everything came out fresh and well prepared. The corner location was quiet when we visited, and while it is winter now, the outdoor seating looks like it would be fantastic in the warmer months. I also loved learning that Kettlestrings is the name of the founding family of Oak Park. A thoughtful, well done neighborhood spot that we will definitely be back to.

Be sure to check out their daily specials or stop in for Happy Hour (Mon-Thurs 4-6pm) for extra discounts. For drinks, we started with the Hugo Spritz, Jalapeño Ginger Lime Spritz, and Prickly Pear Spritz. The Hugo Spritz was my favorite of the night and was super east to drink on a hot day. For food, we shared their famous DuckFat Fries which comes with three dipping sauces. I loved the Garlic Aioli and Chipotle Ketchup but wasn't the biggest of the Mexican Pesto. For entrees, we got a mixture of items. I got the Cheeseburger Sliders but asked for Onion Crisps instead of Caramelized. This was the perfect portion. For me after already sharing fries. My friends got a Pulled Pork Sandwich, Fish Tacos, and Fire Alarm Burger. Everything tasted great but my friend didn't think her burger was too spicy.
