I went in to brakes plus because I thought I only need brakes and rotors for my car, I got a free inspection from them and it turned out I needed a lot more. After taking the estimate to a few other places I ultimately went back to brakes plus to get the work done. The service I received at brakes plus was top notch. The maintenance was done quickly and done very well. I would highly recommend working with Michael Terrell at the 90th and Maple location, he is very professional and does not try to sell you things you don't need. They say third times a charm and it was. The first two times I took my car in for an alignment they were unable to do it first for a bad ball joint and second for a leaking axle. The third time I was just cringing waiting for why they couldn't do it. No trouble this time, car was aligned and because of all my troubles it was in the house. We took our vehicle in to have the oil changed and tires rotated. As far as I know, they performed this adequately. My concern is that when we came to pick up the vehicle they told us that the car, which is well maintained, needed $1200 worth of repairs- that it had a wheel bearing problem, that it needed 4 new struts, new rear brakes, a brake flush, an alignment, etc. Of course we were concerned, but before shelling out that kind of money, we took it in for a second opinion at the dealership. The dealership service department agreed that there was a wheel bearing problem and that ONE of the struts had a small seep that will eventually need to be taken care of if it gets worse (although they said it is not something that needs to be immediately taken care of, the strut still has good structural integrity). The other things though, the other 3 struts, the rear brakes, the alignment, etc, they found NOTHING wrong with them. They said that the rear brakes still have over 60% life left and there is absolutely no reason to replace them. So I am concerned about the business practices of this company; that they get people in with a cheap oil change coupon, and then tell them they need all kinds of unnecessary repairs. When I discussed this with my neighbor, she said the exact same thing had happened to her at this same shop. She took her vehicle in for an oil change and came out with being told she needed all kinds of expensive repairs that a 2nd opinion did not verify. We will not be going back. read more

I'll take my vehicle here whenever I need something fixed. They are honest and seem to be genuinely nice people. They usually take me into the shop to show me what the issue is and when it would absolutely need to be fixed. They also help with the cost by offering coupons. read more

Unfortunately, I HAD to give them one star. Negative stars wasn't an option. In short, I asked Brakes Plus for a FREE brake inspection. They had my vehicle for 4 days. They 'repaired' items without my consent, and threatened my significant other by saying that until the bill has been paid in full ($303.96), they have the right to hold the vehicle. After the amount was paid, and the brakes were 'fixed', I nearly got into a car accident (due to NO brakes) moments after leaving the brake shop. I was then forced to drive the unsafe vehicle to a different location, with NO brakes- in the rain! All while being completely disrespected and degraded by a rude and incompetent employee (whom I believe is responsible for 'keying' my entire truck while it was in their possession). I have yet to figure out if this is a reflection of Brakes Plus as a whole, or just the location on 90th street, but it has been an extremely stressful, dangerous, and horrible experience. I have been in contact with numerous people, and have yet to receive compensation. Above all, this location is not providing proper service to the point where it is illegal and dangerous for the people of Omaha. read more

I went to 90th street, Omaha NE brake plus to fix my issue with tires. From the beginning their intention was to rip off simply because I towed my car there and they may have seen I was going to fix whatsoever. They quoted me the price to replace studs 3 times the one you could find online. And when I offered I will buy my own parts, they said they will have to double the labor charge and in addition they would charge me 25$ / day for the parking fees. Isn't that the height of rip off ? I tried every way to take out my car out of their place but they refused to assemble the tires back. I complained to their head office. They were not too different either. We had a horrible experience with breaksPlus at the north 90th location. My daughters car broke down in Advanced auto part parking lot and they are attached to them. After realizing that it was probably the alternator I told my daughter to go into brakesplus to get a quote. They said they wouldn't quote anything until they look at it themselves, which cost $25. They said would your pretty self like to schedule anything. She told them her dad was headed down to check it out first and they said of course daddy to the rescue. Daddy's are protective of their pretty girls and don't want anyone else touching their daughters car. Once I got there and confirmed myself that the alternator was the problem they still would not quote a price w/o looking at it. I finally went ballistic on the pervert who was hitting on my daughter(he was old enough to be her grandfather) I was quoted a price of $680. He also told us the car sounded like it was either misfiring or had a massive vacuum leak and further work was needed(the car drove fine before the battery ran dead). We then drove the car across the street and had the alternator replaced for $375 at grease monkey. If you want your car repaired by a bunch of perverts and shmucks who have no clue and want to charge you nearly double than the place across the street then this is the place for you. I suggest Monty at grease monkey across the street who went well above and beyond. Took the car there at 3:30 and they had it done by 5:30. They stayed a half hour past closing on a Saturday to make sure they got the job done. Brakes plus deserves no stars but that's not an option!!!!!!! read more

Sue T. is exactly right do not go to this location. I went there today asking them to install a starter. I had an appointment at 2 pm. I dropped the car and keys off at 130 pm. They told me they needed to check the battery alternator and starter, and in that order. I already knew it was the starter. I didn't get a call back until 240 pm and then I was told that my battery was no good and they could install one for $100+, luckily I had a warranty on my battery with another company so i didn't have to pay for that. When i took the old battery back, the battery place said it was low on charge but definitely rechargeable and not worth buying a new battery. So I installed the battery myself because Brakes Plus tried to charge me $33+ to install it, even though I was told on the phone that they would just put it in. By 3 pm I had purchased and installed the new battery, inquired about the rest of the work, and was told someone would be right with me. No one looked at or touched the car again until 4 pm. Meanwhile I went to Advanced auto parts next door. They had a huge sign advertising FREE battery starter and alternator tests. I asked a women who worked there about it and in less than 5 minutes she checked my battery starter and alternator, and told me exactly what I told Brakes Plus, it needed a starter. Go figure. Now its 4 pm and I'm still at square one. Finally someone comes to help me, rechecks the battery even though I have the test print out slip in my hand that says it's good. Then they gave me a price quote of $344+ at about 420 pm. $180+ for parts and $135+ for labor plus tax. I had not so long ago had a starter replaced on a newer car I used to have, and parts and labor including an oil change was less than $220. I refused to pay that ridiculous amount and went elsewhere. I purchased a brand new starter from Advanced Auto Parts for $95 with an unlimited lifetime warranty and I went to Sosa Auto Repair to get the starter installed. I was quoted $50 for labor. It was done in less than an hour. I believe Brakes Plus was trying to stall me out until I couldn't make it anywhere else in time, forcing me to get the work done there. And if I would've paid for the battery they would've tried to sell me an alternator. Just common sense and minimal knowledge of cars told me they were trying to rip me off, and instead I ended up paying less than half of what Brakes Plus was going to charge. I checked their credibility by asking friends, neighbors, and researching online and to no surprise every person I spoke to and every review I read said that this is just what they do there, rip people off!!! My elderly mom went to Brakes Plus to have an oil change....Afterwards she parked it in her garage and didn't drive it much....she had told me that the car had developed an oil leak soon after. Well since she didn't drive it much she just put a piece of cardboard under it. The spots continued to grow on the cardboard and eventually seeped through to the cement. I stopped over and took a look and said that it needed to be checked out. We drove it to a family friend who is a mechanic and right away he said that the drain plug threads had been stripped. He said she needed to take it back to the place that did the oil change as they needed to make it right. My mom took it back and explained the situation. Mind you my mom is the sweetest, kindest, person in the world. After a wait, they told her that indeed the drain plug was stripped, and since it appeared to already have an oversized plug that a new drain pan would have to be ordered at a cost of over 700.00!!!!! She explained that there was never an issue until she had the oil changed and that it wasn't fair that she she have to buy a new drain pan. I guess the manager knocked off 100.00 ...whoopie...the bill was still over 600.00 for a lady who is on a fixed income and who did not cause the damage. Even if it did have an oversized plug, it never leaked until Brakes Plus changed the oil...never once....The manager said how can they know that our mechanic friend didn't strip it...It never leaked until after Brakes Plus changed the oil!!! We took it to our friend to see where the oil was coming from!!!! Totally feel like mom was taken advantage of....I would never ever recommend Brakes Plus....in fact, the old adage goes, " if people are happy they will tell a friend..if they are not happy they will tell a village!!!"
