The staff was quick help and also took the time to check on an issue for me. I was even shown an area of a small oil leak to where I will be taking my car in to get a mechanic to inspect. Oh they also change your windshield wipers!! I would advise, dont show up 5 min before they close! Everyone has a right to go home at the end of the day. The longer the line before closing or at any time the longer you are gonna wait to get your car done and keep them working late. Somebody came in after us, however, and they were immediately checked in and had their lights tested. Needless to say we backed out and left. I've had other issues at this location in the past - I had a battery incorrectly installed during a previous visit. Recently they put in a battery and didn't tie it down (or even offer to do so). I want to share the experiences I have been having with Randy's Downtown Garage. I brought my car…read morein because my fuel door wouldn't open. Randy's said the fuel door and spring mechanism would need to be ordered and they charged me $546 to fix the door. I trusted them (my error for sure) and didn't research the estimate they gave and had them do the work. I later began to look into the costs and found that the price for a fuel door for my car was at the most $112, while Randy's charged me $245. Furthermore I learned when I dropped by the dealership that it wasn't necessary to replace the fuel door to fix the clip and spring that were the problem. In fact, Randy's charged me for those parts separately as well, at a rate more than double what the dealership cost. The dealership offered an estimate of $201 to repair the fuel door, a full $345 more than Randy's charged. I wrote a civil letter to Randy's and their owner, Harry Curtin, asking for a refund of the difference between what they charged and the more customary charge of $201. Two months later I have (of course) not heard nor received anything. I would strongly advise anyone to be very cautious with Randy's Downtown Garage. Certainly don't accept any estimate from them (as I did) as reasonable. I have not found them to be an honest business.

This is supposed to be a "transmission specialty" shop. I called to get an appointment to have…read morethem take a look at my transmission which seemed to start slipping between 3rd and 4th gears. They set me up with an appointment and when I asked a couple more questions re how quickly they could drop the trans and take a look at it they said, "oh we don't open up transmissions we just replace them ". What?? So what my appointment was apparently intended on their part was to test drive the truck and get a sense of what it is doing and if what it's doing requires actual REPAIR of the trans (you know how their ad says "transmission repair?), your ONLY solution at this business is to get a COMPLETE replacement of your transmission. What they do here is work with the bulk transmission rebuild shops like Jasper, etc who ship them a replacement trans which can be extremely costly, $3k to $4k or more depending on your vehicle - all this place does is remove your current and put a rebuild into it. They admitted they no longer staff ....you know ...TRANSMISSION REPAIR SPECIALISTS, who fix transmissions. Well guess what - there are at least ten or more other auto repair shops all around Flagstaff that do that exact same thing. Don't be fooled thinking you need this place because they have "transmission" in their name or you see "transmission repair" in the ad. They dont. Shop around to every auto shop in town and compare pricing, workmanship, etc. Sadly it seems Flagstaff no longer has a transmission specialist shop that can help repair, build, etc your trans - all you have available are trans replacement shops.

Highly recommend Nationwide Transmission, Adam and his team. They were patient, communicative, and very willing to help and even stay after hours to get the job done. Very honest and repairs were cheaper than we were expecting.
