READ FULL REVIEW. I would absolutely not recommend this place to anyone who wants an honest staff and shop. Their own MANAGER admitted that he himself lied to me. Crazy. You, and I, should trust your gut. Immediately when walking in, it felt off and not like a reliable business but since I was directed by discount tire I proceeded I requested an alignment and was almost immediately upsold to a control arm replacement. Seemed expensive, and I wasn't sure if it was necessary but it seemed realistic so I took their advice. All went fine until a manager who I trusted left, and I was stuck with a guy from the start who had displayed poor service and attitude, clearly attempting to make me feel unknowledgeable for asking questions about pricing. After the work was done, I requested to test drive before I left. The manager, who was not wearing a name badge, said I needed to leave something as collateral in case I drove off without paying. All I had was my computer. I felt uneasy as I already did not trust the shop, but did it anyway knowing my computer was locked. After returning, my computer was OPEN and on the screen where a login had failed. I can 1000% confirm I shut the lid before handing it to him. I questioned him and the other service member, and both said "that's weird, you probably handed it to us with the lid open" and when asked about if they say anything, "no I didn't see anyone open it" Not wanting to press the issue I went to drive away, but after some thought I knew this was absolutely unacceptable since I was sure they were lying to me. After going back in and pressing the matter, the manager ADMITTED to lying to me and gave me a made up excuse as to why he was on it. The apology was fake and clearly to try to get me to leave, trying to convince me that what he did was acceptable and standard. Ridiculous way to run a shop, I cannot believe a MANAGER of all people acts this way. If they are not honest about simple things, image their honesty when it earns them an extra $. read more

I was moving from AZ to TX when I suddenly heard a scraping underneath my car while driving on the freeway. Turns out that it was my front bottom skid plate that was dragging. My husband fixed it with a cord to hold it up until we get to Brakes plus. I could not think of anything as to why the screw came off but I just decided to bring it to brakes plus since their Arizona location was the last one who serviced it last. However, when the two managers spoke, they mentioned that the last brakes plus never had a reason to remove my skid plate since all they did was replace the brakes and the cv boots. So I was S.O.L and did not know what to do. They proposed to attach it for me for free if I can find the part. I was lucky to find the part at the Rusty Wallis Honda and I came back and Saul fixed it for me for free. On top of that, they gave me two free oil change coupon. Their customer service is amazing! DO NOT GO to this Brakes Plus in Addison. I got my oil changed there the day before Christmas Eve and their technician didnt properly close/ latch my hood on. I was driving on the highway afterwards with my kids and the hood comes FLYING up, shattering my windshield, destroying the front end of my car,causing $28,000 of damage to my Lexus. I had to carefully pull over on the side of the highway to pull my hood off my windshield. Shattered glass everywhere. The hood, and whole front end of my car, DESTROYED. Nobody is calling me back, the have cameras, but say I cannot come view them. I will be suing. My kids and I almost DIED on that highway. It was raining. There was an 18-wheeler right next to us that I THANK GOD did not drive into. ONLY GAVE 1 STAR BC I CANT LEAVE ZERO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! STAY AWAY AND BE SAFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This place has changed hands and they have one agenda. Getting as much of your money as possible. Brakes Plus absolutely saved the day! After Discount Tire patched my tires, they inexplicably engaged my parking brake, and it got stuck. Their only 'solution' was to take it to the dealership and wish me good luck--super frustrating! Thankfully, I found Brakes Plus, and they immediately jumped in to troubleshoot and fix the issue. I decided to get a second opinoin, so went Brakes Plus (Duncanville). They put it on a lift, and showed me that my boots were not split at all. I took the car back in and this time I encountered a redneck, hateful manager. He even told me he would have charged me more than what I paid for brake pads and shoes. I then asked for my car to be released. I will not tolerate the disrespect, not the disdainful attitude. He would not make eye contact with me. After booking an appointment online that not only advertises on every page but takes pride in the fact that they offer FREE BRAKE CHECKS, "BRAKES DONT FEEL RIGHT? COME ON BY FOR A FREE BRAKE CHECK TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM MIGHT BE!" false advertising. Upon arrival for the appointment we were told it would be $105 just to do a diagnostic, even with the FREE BRAKE CHECK advertised on their front window as well! Don't bother with the customer service number-it's as much as a joke as their advertising. read more

I went to go get my brakes checked. Not only I get quoted something outrageous for brakes and rotors ($1200) but when I said I only have $200 i got laughed at and was told I could only get the rear pads since my rear was worse. Come to find out from another shop that the pads were a waste of time because it would have to be replaced again. So I wasted my time and money at this place. Not to mention they charged me to cut the tire locks ($50) when I am pretty sure they are the last place I had my tire lock because I had them do my front breaks earlier in the year. I don't know much about cars but I would have liked to know that I couldn't replace the breaks without replacing the rotors. read more

DO NOT GO HERE AS A SINGLE WOMAN! THESE GUYS ARE THE WORST! I have never written a yelp review but made an account specifically to write this. I came in for an engine diagnostic and they seemed nice and honest at first. After they looked at my car they brought me out to the garage and 3 men stood around me and essentially told me that my engine would explode if I did not fix the radiator fans immediately. They quoted me $1,500 to fix the fans and an "air conditioning issue". I was hesitant about the price and stepped out to make a phone call. When I came back, Walter said that he would "cut me a deal" and fix the fans without charging me for an additional air conditioning inspection. I asked why they would need to inspect it again if nothing changed and he got dismissive while the other men reprimanded me for not taking Walter up on this 'great deal'. They said they could have it done in 2 days so I agreed and hesitantly left my car with them. Immediately after leaving the shop I called around to several other mechanics who told me that they could fix it for $600-700 and the men at Brakes Plus were scamming me. I called the shop back a couple hours later to tell them that I would not be using their services unless they could come down on the price and they said that I could only have my keys back after paying a "$200 restocking fee" which they claimed was necessary to send the parts back. I promptly went to the shop and asked that they show me documentation of the alleged restocking fee and they couldn't produce any sort of proof. Instead, they spoke to me as if I was incompetent and attempted to explain how a return works. Sidenote: I am a college educated woman and did not appreciate being spoken to like a child. After more arguing, Walter offered to "split the cost" and only charge me $100 and I said that I had not signed anything and refused to pay without legitimate documentation of this fee. Walter became visibly angry and stepped out to "call corporate" (this was on a Saturday, corporate was definitely not open). He came back and said that he would "eat the cost" and did not offer an apology. Once they gave me my keys back they condescendingly told me I would need tow truck without noticing that I had already called one that was, conveniently, already waiting in the parking lot. Bottom line: Take your business elsewhere. They will try to take advantage of you! These guys clearly prey on young people! read more

I have never in my life felt more taken advantage of than I have with this company. I took my car in on a Friday morning asking for an estimate. They wrote me an estimate for almost $2,000. They told me they would have the parts in by noon and could have it fixed that day. I had other appointments to go to so I asked if I could come back Monday. They continued to push and say they wouldn't have the parts by Monday so they couldn't guarantee they could get to it (after they said they could have it done in less than 12 hours from me walking through the door). I said I couldn't get it done that day and I was going to go somewhere else. They began to yell at me saying I wouldn't find anything cheaper elsewhere. I walked out the door and went straight to the dealership. Ended up leaving my car there for the weekend, received a phone call from them Sunday night that nothing was wrong with my car. They inspected everything Brakes Plus said was wrong and they found no issues and they said my car was in great condition. Where I was going to spend $2,000 for absolutely nothing and they made it seem like I couldn't even wait 3 days to get it "fixed". I would never recommend anyone go to this place unless they want to lose money for no reason. Poor customer service, and clearly they don't know cars. read more

Couple of days ago, I called them to tow my car to their service. 2 days later they charged me 270 for towing, only. They did not even tell me initially how much it was going to cost to tow as it was regular process. My mistake was that I did not ask about it. But that was not it. They had also charged us some extra for towing as they called it the towing company. We did not know about it either and they did not even need to tell us about it. So we made 2 payments for towing. 6 months ago, I called a company to tow my car to Plano and I only paid 100$. There is no transparency, no professionalism. That was the last time, I don't think I will ever visit them. read more

I made an appointment the night before for 4pm the following day to get my car aligned. I show up at 3:45 and they were quick to get me checked in. I sat there for nearly an hour and half listening to them telling a young college student, that went in by herself for her brakes changed, that they found multiple other things wrong other than her brakes in order to rack her bill up. These had nothing to do with the initial task of changing the brakes. 5:15 rolls around and I notice my car never moved from where I parked it at 3:45. After bringing that up to the girl working the front desk, she goes to check and they FINALLY take the car for a test drive, pre working on it. Needless to say, I immediately got my keys back and am going somewhere else since clearly having an appointment doesn't mean anything different than being a walk-in. read more

great experience. Had some inside wear on my tires and went to tire place nearby.. they recommended this place for an alignment. Got the 4 wheel alignment for $88... they give you a report ect at the end of the job that shows you the before and after. had an issue with it still veering right. they took a look the next day and said one of the new tires had an issue (bubble)..... long story short it was the tires... but they helped me uncover that and the alignment is perfect. I would def come back again. they do shocks and of course brakes..... seemed honest and pretty quick work. Never once felt like there was any dishonesty at all which many mechanics shop give me red flags..., good job! thanks for taking care of my car! read more

This place will try to charge you an arm and leg before even diagnosing your car properly! They tried to charge me $2,600 to change out my whole ac system after charging me $120 to recover , evacuate and recharge my ac. Before going through with the ' recharge ' i even asked them what was the purpose of doing that if my compressor isn't even working. They said " thats the first thing we have to do to diagnose the system" - that should have been my sign to not even go through with it but I figured they would have found a small problem after and fix it. And it was my wifes car so i was trying to get it fixed sooner than later. Turns out it was because my cooling temperature sensor plug was broken as soon as i replugged it in - my compressor came on right away. If they really knew what they were doing and diagnosed it correctly they would have discovered that was the reason my compressor didn't come on, my thermostat was stuck on C(cold) . I bet they wouldn't have even replaced my ac system and still charged me the $2600. Or maybe that's just their job to upsell and over price their jobs. Nice try , almost got me and went through with it, good thing i took it to a second opinion and figured out with my dad after looking around that the sensor was broken. Will be replacing the sensor and plug myself for $25!!! read more

My first rxperience with them was great. Had to have a tow to the location, car wouldn't start. They weren't happy with their first diagnosis, alternator, so they kept working. Turns out the real problem was with the battery terminal and cables. Replaced faulty parts and voila car starts. Less than $100. read more
