Made an appointment at 2 for a simple oil change. Arrive early at 1:50, they didn't take my vehicle back until 3. Didn't get done until nearly 4pm. Two hours of waiting for an oil change, no one updated me that it would take that long or let me know how long I would be waiting. The cost was $60 more than what it said on their board. Costing $145 for just an oil change, this may be the correct price but the board was misleading. One of the employees (short, bald, old guy) was rude and unprofessional to other employees and customers. Would talk poorly about customers after they left. Completely unprofessional and I'm sure he doesn't care. Terrible service all around. Would not recommend coming here. They are reporting poor reviews to get them removed. read more

This is not a comment on the quality of their service, but it is a comment on attitude. I needed to get a fairly simple, tires, windshield, lights, etc, inspection. On the web site was listed Jiffy Lub which is across the street. But, Jiffy Lube said they had new owner and didn't do these anymore. They said Brakes Plus was doing them now. The company that wanted this listed over 20 locations in the metro and prices from $20 to $40. When I asked at their desk the attendant said he wasn't aware they were doing this now. He went to the 'boss'. He told me, "Yes, we do those now the cost is $100." WHAT? I told him the listed price had been $20 at Jiffy Lube and others in the metro and had only come here because they were the closest to my home. I received a look from the guy in front of me that said...."Yea, but he's the boss." I didn't get angry, but I did laugh and made the comment that I would be writing about this online. Well, here it is. What I decided is, NEVER EVER go to this shop. If they will charge $100 for something that YES a different Jiffy Lube did in less than 5 minutes for $20. Ask yourself this! What are they doing and charging for everything else they do? read more

Stopped in for an oil change. Was quoted $44.99 by Steve due to the "special" they were running. He did not indicate that the filter would be separate. They then advised on the air filter, of course. My husband changes those so that would not be needed. Well, the driver rear brakes is bad. I said I just had them done in July 2023 by a different shop. They stated they must not have checked the pin because it is "seized up". Well how long will that take and how much? The estimate then came up to about $550 and 2- 2 1/2 hours. I said I would make an appointment and come back as I hadn't planned on that. A different manager than said I'll get you out of here in an hour. I reluctantly said ok. Well what do you know, they ran into "caliber issues" which would now cost me more. Over 3 hours and $670 later, I got my oil change and my brakes now feel like they are going to the floor. And let's not forget the oil plug I had to replace again. Last time was the same thing- replacing the drain plug. I don't trust mechanics to begin with and this just made me question them more. I never saw Steve after the $44.99 quote. Oh but they gave me a $30 "discount" on labor - supposedly. I left feeling like I had been ripped off read more

Great service! They stayed late to make sure everything got done and the quality of work was tremendous. They also did a great job of explaining everything with great attitudes! read more

This location always comes through for me! Stop by to have windshield wipers replaced. They got it done quick and easy. Thanks again!

Brake's Plus on Broadway, never again! Wow, I had the absolute worst experience with this place ever! I went in last Saturday to have an oil change, and they were to look at my broken antenna and repair my radio/back up camera/horn which is all hooked up apparently together. They fixed the same problem 15 months ago for a few thousand dollars. So I returned for the car, they changed the oil but did nothing else! The mechanic literally told me to fix my own antenna. He hadn't even looked at it as it has wires running through it, wasn't a screw on. Also, didn't look at any of the other things on the list. So I scheduled for today, this Saturday. They have the car for 4 hours and call to say all done. I asked about the antenna, nope they couldn't do that, when I complained wow they had it back on within 15 minutes. I was told everything else is repaired. I pay $192. get in the car, no radio, no back up camera, no horn! I said I want my money back. Manager is called I'm told no and sent home. Then I get a call from them, and they are willing t give $99. back but that is it. Needless to say, I will never ever step foot in that place again! They lie and absolutely do not care what they do. 15 months ago, excellent, today I say never again and will tell everyone I know what happened. That particular mechanic should be fired period! read more

I was running on 0mm rear brake pads and 4 on front. I went to a family mechanic first seeing as he would know what he was looking at and what a reasonable price would be. Out of curiosity i went to Brakes Plus on broadway because it's a free brake check and all my friends tell me it's the worst place to go, low and behold they were right . Brakes plus was trying to charge me $908 dollars right off the bat for new rotors, brake pads, etc. Which let alone was a way out of the water price when i ended up doing it myself for just under $200. I figured maybe the parts are expensive... no. idk how brakes plus tried charging me $100 dollars for brake pads INDIVIDUAL SIDES OF THE CAR. For ceramic pads i paid $100 for the whole car. Then when i mentioned I was just going back to family to work on the brakes, it was almost funny how they offered the other plan which was only like $70 cheaper DONT GO HERE, JUST DO IT YOURSELF OR GO TO CFI AUTO OR SOMETHING. Those places won't try sucking you for all the money in your name read more

This was my first time at Brakes Plus and it won't be my last. I scheduled an appointment online, which was very fast and simple, for Saturday morning. They also open at 8am, which is nice and the right time for me usually. I had to get my alignment checked because I had uneven tire wear on my tires, which I replaced last week. They were running a special on alignments for $58! More than $20 cheaper than everyone else. I left my car there and they called me about an hour and a half later and said my car was ready. So my wife and I went there and picked it up. The guy that helped me, don't remember his name, was extremely helpful and explained what the check up found and what my alignment was after they fixed it, But with their cheap rates and great service, I'll be coming back for alignments and other services. read more

Brakes Plus on Broadway in Council Bluffs were great. Christine at the counter knew what was needed to fix my 1986 Dodge pickup. She set up an appointment for the next day and had the truck finished on time and very reasonable cost to me. They are great group of people. I will take my vehicles there from now on. read more

Super friendly and polite and professional!! Got right on top of my oil change and tire rotation highly recommended!!

Brakes Plus has been my Go-To repair shop for as long as I can remember, and the Council Bluffs location does an outstanding job every time. Marcus was friendly, professional, and went above and beyond to meet my needs. I would definitely recommend this Brakes Plus location to my friends and family. read more

Stay away from the west broadway council bluffs location! The gm John Coaker treats customers like garbage and laughs at women. They don't do the service request you tell them and proceed to sell shit parts to customers and do their own work anyway.. The GM is condescending to women and treats customers like garbage. I took my vehicle for basic tune up service they end up telling me my control arms and ball joints are bad which is bullshit because they conned me into the same story in 2017!!! since when do these parts only last 35k!!!! They didn't even do half the service requests I asked for. John the GM harassed me and called me 3 times to tell me the control arms were a #1 priority and they would "find a way" to cover the parts under warranty. I am reporting this as piss poor business practices. they sell shit parts and then harass their customers until they cave to pay them. Avoid this location like the plague!!! read more

Squirrils had attacked my engine and chewed electrical device for a/c and air bags. Brakes plus fixed it within 2 hours and fixed washer tube going to windshield without being asked or charging for that service. Very friendly and answered all our questions. read more

My husband and I recently took our car here to get it aligned. Cheapest in town running a whopping $58! They offered a lot of coupons on their website including oil change and flush of different sorts. We dropped off the car around 8 and did our normal Saturday errands. Around 9:25, we were heading home and we called to see if the car would be ready soon and we could come get it then. The guy wasn't sure and we didn't push it. We went all the way home, and guess what? They called 10 minutes after we called saying the vehicle was done. A minor annoyance, but we couldn't beat the price. read more

Excellent service and honest with the repairs. I will definitely be coming back for future needs. Very refreshing as a women to work with someone who is truthful about repairs and not trying to "rip you off". Baretta was very knowledgeable and friendly to work with. Made all his customers feel very comfortable. Booking a time on line was very easy. read more

I had an emergency with my car the other night and they were able to fit my car in the next morning and get it fixed before noon. They were great about calling me with updates on what they found wrong and to give me the pricing for each step of the way. I found my repairs to be pretty affordable and the service I received from Brakes Plus was excellent. I'd definitely return back for other service issues int he future. read more

I purchased a used car and it was making a squealing noise. Took it to Breaks Plus and they saved me $200 on a tie rod, bearing and hub. I was so impressed with the professionalism and friendly service. I was equally impressed when they took me into the shop to show me in person what was wrong with my car. I also had my car back by that evening!!! I would 100% recommend this establishment for any car repair needs. They are very fair priced. Thanks guys for everything!! read more

This business will try their hardest to make sure you are a happy customer. Does a great job for an overall review of your car's potential needs. I think the service manager lacks experience in working with customers, but he is trying. read more

Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Will not return to this location. Very disappointing. The drive to Omaha locations are worth the extra miles. read more

I came in on a Saturday at 345 and needed a lot of work done to drive cross country. They got the parts and did all of the work and got us back on the road in no time. I would go there every time I needed anything done. read more

Second time I have dealt with Brakes Plus. First time was absolutely pleasant and honest. The second time not so much !! As I do with all repairs I have my vehicle inspected and then I review the parts list and labor recommended by the shop. Brakes Plus informed me they use parts through advanced auto. So checking on advanced auto website i investigate part cost. Seems this time around the shop wanted to up-charge me 115.00+ just in parts alone. That right there is a deal breaker. I dealt with Manager Daniel McGurk 1. Rear brake pads 59.00 pxd905h - listed as 40.99 *comes with rear hardware 2. Rear hardware kit 24.99 (without rubber) - dont need it cause it comes with pads 3. Rotors Centric C-TEK # 12142073 61.00 a piece (need 2) - 14.99 - 19.99 rock auto 4. Inner tie rod # EV427 42.58 - List price is 80.00 (weird price mismatch) 5. Outter tie rod # ES3438 73.05 - List price is 42.99 Cost for parts alone is 321.62 .. When it should be around 205.00 So I feel ripped off to say the least !! Im not sure if new management came into play or what but I will never return to this auto center again while Daniel McGurk is in charge. How do I get better deals on parts than you, when I go through the same place ? ** EDIT ** I received a call from Brakes Plus (Ron Mcdermont - Spelling ) and was left more furious than before. Giving me the run around about why the parts were up-charged and even why I was charged for parts I didnt need. All of his excuses try to lead you around in circles and dont address the situation at all. The main goal for the rep is to get you back in the store to spend money and of course not to post the negative reviews !! Failure all the way around !! Soon as I asked for his name he hung up !! How many excuses do you need for one question ? Is it really because you offer a 99.00 brake special you up-charged me for parts and was gonna charge me for a hardware kit that comes with the pads already ? Your 99.00 brake job mysteriously turned into a 123.99 brake job now ? EXTRA = 25.00 not counting the 18.00 up-charge for brake pads Well what about the rotors ? You claim you get high quality parts and thats the reason my rotors would have cost me 122.00 ? When you can clearly see they are only 14.99 crap Centric Rotors Part Number 12142073, His best excuse for this one was well can you get it in an hour ?? No I cant get such a crappy part in an hour. But what I can do is get a higher quality and cheaper one in an hour !! hmmmmm EXTRA = 92.00 Tie rods Interestingly enough were misrepresented as well but came out to be correct overall for parts cost. Inner EV427 would have cost 42.58 from them. Where same part goes for 80.00 !! One might think that Brakes Plus finally came out the winner this time BUT NO. cause the outer they listed was gonna cost me 73.05 where as its listed for 42.99. part number ES3438 I can only imagine how many people get robbed by these guys on a daily basis !! read more

I was not very impressed with this business. They seem to lack integrity and professionalism. I took my auto here for an estimate because my brakes were making noises. They gave me a quote for $2500 to fix numerous things in addition to the brake rotors and pads which they reported were completely shot. I was told I immediately needed upper and lower ball joints, idler arm, pitman arm, sway bar, shocks, an alignment and a brake system flush. The brake job alone was quoted at $700. When I told the guy I'd rather trade it in on a newer vehicle than to spend $2500 (knowing myself that the engine has a leaky oil gasket and is not performing well) the guy said he could buy it from me and fix it up at cost for his wife to drive. It felt very awkward. I took it to a different mechanic who did all the brake work for $427 (front & rear rotors & pads & labor); it seems to work fine. Additionally, the man who did repair it said the rear brakes were indeed shot, but that the front had about 30% more wear left in them if I wanted to wait I could do those later. They did not find any significant other repairs that were needed immediately. After this incident, I don't feel comfortable recommending anyone to Brakes Plus for advice or service. read more

These people are con artists. They quoted my husband one price for brakes and rotors then turned around and doubled the cost after the calipers magically broke. They then convinced him to get a credit card, telling him it would be 12 months with no interest, only to turn around and lie AGAIN, telling him it was actually only 6 months. When he called them out, they lied YET AGAIN and told him the bank sets the interest rates. Don't trust these people. I don't know how they sleep scamming people like that. read more
