Made an appointment at 2 for a simple oil change. Arrive early at 1:50, they didn't take my vehicle back until 3. Didn't get done until nearly 4pm. Two hours of waiting for an oil change, no one updated me that it would take that long or let me know how long I would be waiting. The cost was $60 more than what it said on their board. Costing $145 for just an oil change, this may be the correct price but the board was misleading. One of the employees (short, bald, old guy) was rude and unprofessional to other employees and customers. Would talk poorly about customers after they left. Stopped in for an oil change. Was quoted $44.99 by Steve due to the "special" they were running. He did not indicate that the filter would be separate. They then advised on the air filter, of course. My husband changes those so that would not be needed. Well, the driver rear brakes is bad. I said I just had them done in July 2023 by a different shop. They stated they must not have checked the pin because it is "seized up". Well how long will that take and how much? The estimate then came up to about $550 and 2- 2 1/2 hours. I said I would make an appointment and come back as I hadn't planned on that. A different manager than said I'll get you out of here in an hour. I reluctantly said ok. Well what do you know, they ran into "caliber issues" which would now cost me more. Over 3 hours and $670 later, I got my oil change and my brakes now feel like they are going to the floor. This is not a comment on the quality of their service, but it is a comment on attitude. I needed to get a fairly simple, tires, windshield, lights,etc, inspection. On the web site was listed Jiffy Lub which is across the street. But, Jiffy Lube said they had new owner and didn't do these anymore. They said Brakes Plus was doing them now. The company that wanted this listed over 20 locations in the metro and prices from $20 to $40. When I asked at their desk the attendant said he wasn't aware they were doing this now. He went to the 'boss'. He told me, "Yes, we do those now the cost is $100." WHAT? I told him the listed price had been $20 at Jiffy Lube and others in the metro and had only come here because they were the closest to my home. I received a look from the guy in front of me that said...."Yea, but he's the boss." I didn't get angry, but I did laugh and made the comment that I would be writing about this online. Well, here it is. What I decided is, NEVER EVER go to this shop. If they will charge $100 for something that YES a different Jiffy Lube did in less than 5 minutes for $20. Ask yourself this! Brake's Plus on Broadway, never again! Wow, I had the absolute worst experience with this place ever! I went in last Saturday to have an oil change, and they were to look at my broken antenna and repair my radio/back up camera/horn which is all hooked up apparently together. They fixed the same problem 15 months ago for a few thousand dollars. So I returned for the car, they changed the oil but did nothing else! The mechanic literally told me to fix my own antenna. He hadn't even looked at it as it has wires running through it, wasn't a screw on. Also, didn't look at any of the other things on the list. So I scheduled for today, this Saturday. They have the car for 4 hours and call to say all done. I asked about the antenna, nope they couldn't do that, when I complained wow they had it back on within 15 minutes. I was told everything else is repaired. I pay $192. get in the car, no radio, no back up camera, no horn! I said I want my money back. Manager is called I'm told no and sent home. Then I get a call from them, and they are willing t give $99. back but that is it. Needless to say, I will never ever step foot in that place again! They lie and absolutely do not care what they do. 15 months ago, excellent, today I say never again and will tell everyone I know what happened. I was running on 0mm rear brake pads and 4 on front. I went to a family mechanic first seeing as he would know what he was looking at and what a reasonable price would be. Out of curiosity i went to Brakes Plus on broadway because it's a free brake check and all my friends tell me it's the worst place to go, low and behold they were right . Brakes plus was trying to charge me $908 dollars right off the bat for new rotors, brake pads, etc. Which let alone was a way out of the water price when i ended up doing it myself for just under $200. I figured maybe the parts are expensive... no. idk how brakes plus tried charging me $100 dollars for brake pads INDIVIDUAL SIDES OF THE CAR. For ceramic pads i paid $100 for the whole car. Then when i mentioned I was just going back to family to work on the brakes, it was almost funny how they offered the other plan which was only like $70 cheaper DONT GO HERE, JUST DO IT YOURSELF OR GO TO CFI AUTO OR SOMETHING. This was my first time at Brakes Plus and it won't be my last. I scheduled an appointment online, which was very fast and simple, for Saturday morning. They also open at 8am, which is nice and the right time for me usually. I had to get my alignment checked because I had uneven tire wear on my tires, which I replaced last week. They were running a special on alignments for $58! More than $20 cheaper than everyone else. I left my car there and they called me about an hour and a half later and said my car was ready. So my wife and I went there and picked it up. The guy that helped me, don't remember his name, was extremely helpful and explained what the check up found and what my alignment was after they fixed it, But with their cheap rates and great service, I'll be coming back for alignments and other services. read more

They don't do the service request you tell them and proceed to sell shit parts to customers and do their own work anyway.. The GM is condescending to women and treats customers like garbage. I took my vehicle for basic tune up service they end up telling me my control arms and ball joints are bad which is bullshit because they conned me into the same story in 2017!!! since when do these parts only last 35k!!!! They didn't even do half the service requests I asked for. John the GM harassed me and called me 3 times to tell me the control arms were a #1 priority and they would "find a way" to cover the parts under warranty. I am reporting this as piss poor business practices. they sell shit parts and then harass their customers until they cave to pay them. Avoid this location like the plague!!! read more

My husband and I recently took our car here to get it aligned. Cheapest in town running a whopping $58! They offered a lot of coupons on their website including oil change and flush of different sorts. We dropped off the car around 8 and did our normal Saturday errands. Around 9:25, we were heading home and we called to see if the car would be ready soon and we could come get it then. The guy wasn't sure and we didn't push it. As I do with all repairs I have my vehicle inspected and then I review the parts list and labor recommended by the shop. Brakes Plus informed me they use parts through advanced auto. So checking on advanced auto website i investigate part cost. Seems this time around the shop wanted to up-charge me 115.00+ just in parts alone. That right there is a deal breaker. I dealt with Manager Daniel McGurk 1. Rear brake pads 59.00 pxd905h - listed as 40.99 *comes with rear hardware 2. Rear hardware kit 24.99 (without rubber) - dont need it cause it comes with pads 3. Rotors Centric C-TEK # 12142073 61.00 a piece (need 2) - 14.99 - 19.99 rock auto 4. Inner tie rod # EV427 42.58 - List price is 80.00 (weird price mismatch) 5. Outter tie rod # ES3438 73.05 - List price is 42.99 Cost for parts alone is 321.62 .. When it should be around 205.00 So I feel ripped off to say the least !! Im not sure if new management came into play or what but I will never return to this auto center again while Daniel McGurk is in charge. I was not very impressed with this business. They seem to lack integrity and professionalism. I took my auto here for an estimate because my brakes were making noises. They gave me a quote for $2500 to fix numerous things in addition to the brake rotors and pads which they reported were completely shot. I was told I immediately needed upper and lower ball joints, idler arm, pitman arm, sway bar, shocks, an alignment and a brake system flush. The brake job alone was quoted at $700. When I told the guy I'd rather trade it in on a newer vehicle than to spend $2500 (knowing myself that the engine has a leaky oil gasket and is not performing well) the guy said he could buy it from me and fix it up at cost for his wife to drive. It felt very awkward. I took it to a different mechanic who did all the brake work for $427 (front & rear rotors & pads & labor); it seems to work fine. Additionally, the man who did repair it said the rear brakes were indeed shot, but that the front had about 30% more wear left in them if I wanted to wait I could do those later. They did not find any significant other repairs that were needed immediately. After this incident, I don't feel comfortable recommending anyone to Brakes Plus for advice or service. read more

These people are con artists. They quoted my husband one price for brakes and rotors then turned around and doubled the cost after the calipers magically broke. They then convinced him to get a credit card, telling him it would be 12 months with no interest, only to turn around and lie AGAIN, telling him it was actually only 6 months. When he called them out, they lied YET AGAIN and told him the bank sets the interest rates. Don't trust these people. I don't know how they sleep scamming people like that. read more
