Avoid Brakes Plus in Allen, on Greenville. Yesterday (8.21.24), in an effort to get things done quickly and maybe cheaper than my regular mechanic, I called Brakes Plus, on Greenville Ave, in Allen, TX, for my F250 diesel truck. I told them I wanted front brake pads and to have my rotors turned. I was adamant that I was not going to replace the rotors at this time. They told me to bring it in, and pads would be $149 (parts and labor). I brought it in, dropped it off, and an hour later they called to say "Your rotors are too thin to turn, so you need pads and rotors, for $799". I knew in my gut something was off. I decided to call my regular shop and see what they would quote me for pads and rotors (I may have been mentally conceding to need new rotors, because who would lie when I told them I couldn't afford it). My regular shop said pads and rotors for $697. I trusted my regular place more for this much work if needed, so I picked my truck back up and took it to my regular shop. Several hours later... my regular shop calls to tell me I don't need rotors or pads!!! That they had 50-60% life left on them. Even my back brakes were checked. Only reason my brakes squealed is due to driving down a gravel road with dust and not driving my truck much. My shop put some grease on the brakes and sent me home without paying a cent, even though they spent a good amount of labor to take off my wheels and check things out. Brakes Plus flat out lied to me. Just because I'm a woman, doesn't make me easy prey. Not only did they miss out on a couple of hundred dollars that day for doing the pads and turning rotors like I wanted, but they will, never in my lifetime, or my children's lifetime, get our business. And I will not hesitate to share with all the people I know. Oh, my regular shop is the place right next to Brakes Plus, so I just drove my truck 50' to get better service. read more

Messed up on an axle job a few weeks back. Causing my vehicle to stop moving when in drive. Was towed to a transmission shop as we initially thought it was a transmission issue. I just had my mom's car repaired at Brakes Plus. Two women who know nothing about cars are easy prey for repair shops like this. So I'm always skeptical. This was the second time the car failed to start and had to be jumped. We took it in to a competitor last time, and they said the battery was fine, but didn't diagnose the problem. When we took the car in to Brakes Plus (after it failed to start again), we were prepared for a big expense like an alternator or starter problem. I was shocked when they said the repair charge was $17. It was a simple problem with the cable connection to the battery and a little corrosion. It it so easy to take advantage of a woman with zero knowledge about cars, like taking candy from a baby. So kudos to Brakes Plus for their honesty. Ask for Ray. Consumer BEWARE!! I have been using Brakes Plus in Allen, TX, for the past 5 years. I have had all of my vehicles serviced here as well as repaired. This past weekend, I had my 2019 F150 serviced there. I got an oil change, state inspection, tune-up, shocks/ struts, and alignment. $1,700.00 After leaving the store, I learned that my horn was not working. I tried to call the store but they had already closed. On Monday, I called and spoke with Chris (assistant mngr) and explained the situation. He said to bring it in when I could, and he would take care of it, no problem. I explained that I'm a truck driver out on the road and wouldn't be able to get back in until Saturday. Today is Saturday and I brought it in to get the horn working again but after they inspected the situation, now they are seeing that, to get it working will be more extensive work than they expected, so they want to charge me $ hundreds of dollars to fix something that they obviously broke while under the hood doing all the work I paid for. I need my horn working again, and I can not spend hundreds more dollars to fix something that was obviously the shops fault. If Brakes Plus isn't going to take responsibility for their work, then I will be forced to get it done elsewhere, and I will file a lawsuit against Brakes Plus for the cost of the repair to return my horn back to working. read more

Took my Nissan 370Z to the Brakes Plus 1711 N Greenville Ave Allen, TX 75002 location last week to have my rear brakes replaced. After looking over my car I noticed they damaged my rear driver side rim. i have brand new tires and zero scratches on my rims. Now I have a damaged rim. The person damaged my rim while taking off the rim. Took the paint off down to the metal undercoat. Tried to get a response from them and no one has reached out to me. Ray was very accommodating when scheduling an appointment in 30 min. Arrived to a very clean well maintained business. I needed a break job done on my car after 60k miles on it. It's been a week and about 200 miles of driving since the repair was done and seems like they have done a fantastic job on it. The reasons for a four star review is that my car has very light interior and the mechanic who worked on my car has left old trace everywhere from seat, steering, seat belt all the way to floor mats. I saw him using a piece of paper when sitting in the car but that apparently wasn't enough! I spent time taking the grease off my car's interior. Would be nice if a person other than a mechanic soaked in oil test drive the car maybe! read more

Great service! Great people! This is a great location to take your car. Jason and Shawn (not sure if that is how he spells it) are amazing. Being a female going into an auto shop alone, I automatically assume I am going to be taken advantage of and they are going to find all kinds of problems that are "dire" when they really aren't. At no point did I feel as if these guys were just trying to get money out of me. They were able to inspect and fix my car all within 2 hours. Shawn also offered to fix my broken ABS sensor wire for far less than any other shop that tried to convince me I needed to replace the entire sensor system for my left tire. I did not get it fixed that day solely because I was in a rush to not be too late for work and them needing to order the parts. I will definitely be back to get that wire replaced! So I've visited this location twice. The first was for brake service before an out-of-state trip. I had to delay my trip and bring the car back the very next day because the car would shudder every time the brakes were applied, so the work was clearly not tested. They fixed it but it was a hassle. I gave them another shot with my wife's car (oil change), dropped it off, and got a phone call from them 30 minutes later saying we needed a couple of other services and quoted a several hundred dollar estimate. I told them I would call them back and then checked their own website for their service prices which were listed much cheaper. I called back and asked about the discrepancy, and after being quiet for a moment the employee admitted he had piled on several other services to charge me for without disclosing them or asking my permission. If I hadn't checked their website they would have scammed me out of several hundred dollars. Beware. read more

I went to have a alignment done on my truck due to it having a major pull to the driver side. After the alignment was finished and I left, I still noticed the pull to the driver side. A few days later I brought the truck back up to get re-aligned and was told that the alignment was still fine. Now a few more days pass and my truck still isn't driving properly so I decide to check my tires, which I was told was supposed to be done at both of my visits, and find that my tire is 17 psi low on my driver side and that was causing all of the issues. I could have saved a lot of time and money if I was told that my tire pressure was the issue. Instead I made TWO visits to this location and was not properly helped. I would NOT recommend servicing your vehicle here. read more

My second trip to this particular location as it is brand new, super clean, and not terribly busy so far. Even though I do most of my own wrenching on everything except computerized alignments they have a state of the art Hunter alignment system that gets results. They are super technical and very easy to work with especially if you have any questions. Got my 2013 Prius and modified Mercedes C55 aligned with no issues. Being only 10 minutes away and receiving periodic coupons is certainly a bonus. I highly recommend this particular location. Customer service is very good! Unfortunately the Plano Coit location will only make toe adjustments not full alignments including camber and castor. read more
