Look, the whole point of a specialty store is that you can get help from people who, you know,…read morespecialize? As complete novice above ground pool owners, my husband and I have struggled quite a bit, even with the help of an outstanding pool service. Every time I come in here, armed with photos and an idea of what I think I need, they're happy to help...and then as soon as I get home, I find out that what they sold me is in fact not at all what I need. Just today, for instance, my pool tech told me to pick up a backwash hose at Leslie's to attach to our pump. I showed the employee a photo and gave the dimension that my husband had measured, duly purchased the $65 hose he recommended, got home, and...not only is the end of the hose too narrow for the place it attaches, it's just a cut-off end of plastic hose, with no connector. I called the store and got a long song and dance about pools are like children, all are unique, he sold me the most common/standard hose, yada yada, well yes I would in fact need a hose clamp to CONNECT that hose to my pump, why didn't he mention that, well, apparently I didn't ask, well no, they don't carry larger diameter hoses in store, blah blah. And back to the store I went to return the useless hose and get my money back. So after making two trips here in a day, plus having to verify that the refund comes through on my credit card, I ordered what we needed from Amazon. In the future, I will not waste my time, effort, and gas money to pretend that anyone at Leslie's can actually help me.

Staff is very uninformed on pools. I would recommend doing your own research online. Don't waste…read moreyour time and money here

I needed pool service pretty immediately after the rains in November and Japi was among the first…read moreto call me back and provide a time for me. He is very thorough, and knows his pools. He is responsive and even answers all of my dumb questions (I am a first-time pool owner). Prices are in line with the industry average, but he truly cares about the pool and does a good job every week! The proof is the report that he sends with each service with pics!

Unfortunately, that was not our experience. We did the "Green-to-Clean ($800)". It took SIX weeks. We had to repeatedly follow up because they would go ~2 weeks without showing up or communicating. When we asked, we were told there was an emergency situation, we tried to be understanding, but there was no proactive communication on their end. We decided weekly service ($250/month). After the initial clean, we signed up for weekly maintenance. Within 24-48 hours of each visit, chlorine levels would drop back to 0 ppm. GP&A's explanation was that our pool system was outdated and needed to be replaced. However, we had two separate pool inspections done when we purchased the home, plus 3-4 other pool companies assess the equipment, none of them flagged the system (installed in 2017) as a problem requiring replacement. Upsell attempts: GP&A quoted us a full system replacement (under $6,000) and then a filter replacement (~$2,200) before they said they could continue service. We decided to move on to another provider. End of service: We asked if they could continue maintaining the pool through the end of the month. Their last visit was six days before the final day of the month (image attached). The pool was visibly green and in poor condition by end of month (again they serviced it 6 days ago and it is this green; not adding enough chlorine). When we brought this up, they responded that the condition was "consistent with the unresolved filtration issue for which repairs were recommended", essentially placing responsibility on us for not purchasing their repair package. We were looking for a long-term, trustworthy pool service company. What we experienced was poor communication, inconsistent results, and recommendations that no other company has supported. I cannot recommend GP&A based on our experience.

Our pool began to turn green, so we were told the filters needed to be cleaned. The company came and cleaned the filters, and charged us. One week later and the algae returned. Now we were told that we needed new filters. That should have been mentioned the week before during the cleaning, but that's fine. We bought new filters and installed them ourselves. The pool was still green for weeks until one day it wasn't. We didn't have issues for a while. Then, one day my wife noticed that the debris was in the same place in the pool the day that the company was supposed to come out. The next day, the pool turned green. We checked our backyard cameras and they never were there cleaning our pool, yet we were still charged for services. When we addressed this with the pool company, we were met with a hostile and argumentative response. Even though we showed them that our cameras never captured their employees on the date and time that they claimed to be there, the company refused to put the customer first. They said that the green in our pool was a result of our filtration system and not from our pool not being treated despite video evidence. Needless to say we would not recommend this company to anyone. We had issues from the start, but kept up good faith until we were shown that they would charge and argue for services not rendered.
