They've helped me with routine maintenance and went above and beyond to fix an issue caused by another repair shop. What really stood out to me, though, was how they treat people. While waiting, I saw firsthand how patient, attentive, and respectful they are with every customer that walks in the door. In a time when finances can be stressful, it's so refreshing to see a place where people can be open about their situation and be met with understanding and support, instead of judgment. I've taken multiple vehicles to Brake Masters over the years for brake work and even recommended them to my son for an oil change on his BMW. Unfortunately, this last experience completely changed my opinion. My son brought his BMW in for a simple oil change. They told him the drain bolt was stripped and that the car would need a new bolt and possibly a new oil pan. If that was truly the case, they should have never touched the bolt in the first place. Instead, they returned the car to him in worse condition than when it arrived. The car was not leaking oil before, but after their service it now has a major oil leak. I even have oil pooling in my driveway because of it. When I called to speak with the manager about the situation, he was extremely arrogant and dismissive. His solution was for us to bring the car back so he could "tighten the bolt." That raises the obvious question -- why wasn't the bolt tightened before they gave the car back? This situation could have been avoided with basic care and accountability. Instead, we're now dealing with a bigger problem than what we started with. After years of being a customer and even recommending them to family, this experience was extremely disappointing. read more

I had a very disappointing experience with Brake Masters in Tracy. I scheduled an appointment in advance for 11:00 AM to replace the O2 sensor on my Nissan Pathfinder. Over the phone, I was quoted $212 including parts and labor, and I was told the job would take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. When I arrived for my appointment, the price suddenly changed from $212 to $299. After that, I was informed they didn't even have the part in stock--despite the appointment being scheduled ahead of time for this specific repair. I waited while expecting them to get the part quickly (especially since they are located right next to O'Reilly Auto Parts), but after another 20+ minutes with no work started, I went to ask for an update. That's when I was told the part wouldn't arrive until 1:30 PM, meaning they hadn't even begun the repair and wouldn't be able to start for several more hours. At that point, I had to leave because I had planned my schedule around the original timeline they gave me. Poor communication, inaccurate pricing, lack of preparation for a scheduled appointment, and complete disregard for the customer's time. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this location. read more

I've been needing to replace the air filters on my BMW for a long time and when my son told me it's time, I agreed with him. I've been calling around and it was difficult to find someone to do the job. I already have the air filters needed on hand. I prayed before looking for an auto shop that can do the job. Brought my car in to the dealership recently who told me that my rear brake pads were down to 3 mm and they recommended that I get them replaced. They were charging $$$$$ to do so, so I figured I'd bring it to a local mechanic instead. Brian helped set me up with an appointment and Christian inspected my brakes the day of. He told me that they were actually still at 4 mm and recommended that I only change them once they get down to 2 mm. Plus, he said that they were still able to be resurfaced--that wasn't even an option at the dealership. Highly appreciate the honesty here and will definitely bring my car back for the brake repair once they're worn down a bit more. read more

I came to Brake Masters when an engine warning light on my ABS and traction for my STI. The place is large. Staff member Logan stated his schedule was full and recommended that I drop off my car the following day. I dropped it off, and in less than two hours, they determined it was a faulty module and sent me on my way. They did not try to upcharge or be aggressive, and I came in the morning. Came in today to get brake inspection. Upon inspection found out pads were worn out. I purchased them only 6 months ago so was a bit confused.oreillys replaced them because of warranty. And gave me same pads as before. when Anthony L. At brakemasters was installing them and they did not fit in the caliper but he thought it had to much of a gap. He talked with Nathan his supervisor and together they got oreillys involved and found out I had the wrong pads for same car but manual transmission instead of automatic. Long story short. I brought in my car to request service on the AC, $69.90 to get it checked. They found what was going wrong with my AC, which has not been working for a while. They waived the fee and I paid for them to fix the issue. Nathan has been straight up for the fees and the cost of the parts, and where they are coming from, and cost of labor. I have been in another shop in Tracy, and they wanted 2K to fix it-they were guessing what what's wrong with it. Brake Masters figured out the issue, they are honest! The quality of the service and the value of fixing the car is worth it! I am coming back for more services in the future! You should give them a try and ask for Nathan! I went to O'Reillys to get a replacement battery but because they couldn't change it they recommended going next door to Brake Masters. I'm so glad they did because the guys over there were great!! Went to this place with a ABS and Brake warning light. The manager got me in right away and tested my truck. I found out that the rear ABS Speed Sensor was bad. The mechanic took it out and showed me the metal shavings all over it. I then talked to the manager and made a next day appointment to do a rear differential service, oil change and brake flush. These guys are top notch. Very friendly and help you with everything that is needed. They do not up sale you things or BS you. They also spend the time to give you all the information you need to make a decision to repair. The best experience I have had in a long time. Asked about price for brake change and not very helpful or welcoming. $219 for front and $219 for back. Also there's a 1.5 hr wait for inspection. Today is December 28th, 2023, and I just picked up my vehicle. I had taken it there on December 21st, 2023, to have the Brake Fluid changed. There was a problem with the Bleeder Valve on the front passenger side Caliper, which cause it to break and become unusable. I am sorry I am bad with names, though the Staff at Tracy Brake Master are good at Customer Relations. I was given, an update that afternoon when I drop the vehicle off for service, informing me of the damage Bleeder Valve and a new Brake Caliper had to be order and the part would not arrive till the following Wednesday, which I was not happy with, though I wasn't in need of vehicle, and I could wait for the repairs to happen. I have to say I am very pleased with the service provided and greatly appreciate the professional courtesy. I was truly surprised on the cost for I was not charged for the part and the great value of the repairs completed are above standards. If I could give more than five stars I would! We are new to the area and my sister took her car in to get her brakes done the experience and price were great! Henry was the person to help and she told me right away since I needed a oil change. From the moment I walked in i was greeted by Ray a very nice person who said yes you can leave your car here no problem. I was then called later as they checked my brakes and explained to me that I was in need of getting them done and wasn't safe to drive. I was first asked when was the last time that they were done. My response was I don't think ever (2016) Ray took time to put numbers together I was pleased how he went above and beyond and his communication was on point! I picked up my car and overall Everything went smooth from start to finish I feel much safer driving. Beware!! This place used to have a really great manager named Henry who is no longer at this facility. His replacement has a really bad attitude, especially in the morning for some reason. I took my wifes car in for it's first front brake job. After the pads were replaced and the rotors turned the brakes squeaked. I took her car back. They said that they took the brakes apart, found nothing wrong and just cleaned everything up. They still squeaked. Took them to another repair shop. They showed me three things as soon as the tires were removed. There were rotor mounting bolts missing, there was a shim that was installed incorrectly and the brake pads were all cracked in the center (probably caused by the missing hardware and mis-aligned shim). This stuff should have been obvious to anyone working at a business called 'Brakemasters'. It is also potentially dangerous. This is absolutely the WORST customer service I have experienced in a long time. Took my car in for a brake check, was told everything was good and 3 weeks later the problem didn't go away . I went back in just to find out I needed all 4 rotors and all new pads. I was told at the prior visit it was not inspected correctly?no apologies no discount nothing. How does this even happen? Not to mention the interaction i had with Christian on both accounts were awful. Im not sure how someone like that is in a position like that. Wow.
