I don't even know where to begin with this review. Dave is absolutely amazing! After many many calls around the valley trying to figure out where to begin with a broken car on the side of the road, I began to lose hope. It was later in the day (most places were closing within the next 2 hours) and every place I called had no interest in helping nor listening to my/my sisters current problem. I decided to make one more call and I'm beyond grateful I did. Dave answered and immediately treated me as if he already knew me. I explained the entire situation as I did others and he jumped to helping in every single way he could, even the things that were out of his control, he made it his problem. I was in desperate need for a tow truck but wasn't sure when I'd be able to get one and Dave simply took that task away from me and contacted some of his providers. Before I knew it, it was after hours and Dave was still working hard on getting the car safely to his shop, and HE DID!!! Surely, the car would have been towed overnight with a crazy expensive price tag and one big thorn in the side to get out, but thankfully Dave made sure that did not happen! The next morning, Dave took a look at the car and called with the problem. While providing the absolute best service I've ever experienced, he came up with a solution that was safe, affordable (HE REALLY HELPED OUT IN THIS ASPECT) and done within a timely fashion to get back on the road! This particular situation was my sisters vehicle. I live about 45 minutes away but can assure everyone, this trip is well worth the effort, CARE, and professionalism of this facility. Stopped in to get my oil changed today, no waiting, and it was 3 PM on a saturday. Adrian, the manager went back and worked on my car. He was very knowledgeable, and showed me exactly the state various components were in. He figured out why my AC wasn't working (the last mechanic had not plugged the radiator fan back in after working on it) also, replaced some clips for heat shields at no cost. I wish they were less expensive, but the service I got today was excellent. read more

Called around to a few brake shops and ended up Booking an appointment with Brake Masters due to the price I was quoted for changing the brake pads on my wife's highlander (134.00+tax) which I thought was a great deal. I show up Monday and drop my wife's car off and am told it will be about an hour. 15 min later I get a call saying it's due for a flush of the brakes and needs all new pads. I knew it needed pads (that's why I made the appointment) I declined the flush and then was told the front brakes would be 134.00 and the back 164.00. I told them I was told it would be 134.00 for all brake pads, the employee proceeded to tell me that is the special but only for the fronts. I was very frustrated and felt scammed and mislead. I told them to put my tires back on I'm coming to pick it up, once I got there the employee just handed me my keys (did not say a word) and I walked out. I took it to another shop and it was done for 150.00! Beware of this place! read more

Doyle is hands down just a great person. I recently moved to valley from northern AZ and my car wouldn't start I had it towed in on a Saturday and he was super busy. However, he new I needed my car by Monday so I could get to work. Not even an hour and he called me saying it was ready. It was something minor and he didn't even charge me for it. I have always loved brake masters and this most recent visit was awesome. I left there with tears of joy. As a young 21 year old trying to start my life this kindness really had an impact. "THIS BUSINESS IS THE BEST , HONEST AND RELIABLE. I went to a dealer as usual for a 70,000 mile maintenance and the told me the price and it was huge. I decided to get a second opinion and than the Lord I went to Brake Masters store 213 on Cave Creek. Dave told me I had plenty of wear left on the breaks. He saved me hundreds for an unnecessary repair. I am always going back to this Break masters as they are honest and have great pricing. Be careful going here! I knew an employee there, and I was advised by another friend to go there, though it was quite a drive for me, I decided to go. Very nice people! They'll charge you $60.00 for tranny oil, and another $48.00 to put it in. Which I thought was okay, and fair... UNTIL I needed a master cylinder and they charged me $350.00 for it and that included installation!! (R&R) I didn't want to embarrass my friend, so I accepted. The grand total was over $450.00!! Though the Master Cylinder was new, it wasn't OEM. They charged me, $199.00 for that NON OEM part. I could buy a new non OEM MC for $30.00 including tax, and a new OEM for $200.00. I know we all need to eat, and I'm all for capitalism... BUT, this was a definite over charge. I must say, they took care of me right away and were VERY courteous! But I really feel I was overcharged by at least a hundred and twenty-five dollars. What's really striking, is that these guys know I'm pretty car savvy. I could have done it myself if I had the time. Shop rates in Phoenix vary, but usually around $89.00 an hour is the average. Brake Masters charged me DEALER rates of $123.00 an hour. The local Toyota Dealer charges $115.00 an hour. I did contact the state of AZ attorneys office after not hearing from them in a FAIR amount of time. Two days ago my friend told me, they will not contact me now because I made contact with the states attorney. I'm like, wait, Brake Masters had NO intension of calling me back, and they never even made the attempt. Steve, the manager there told me, when I called him, after not hearing from them, "This is the first I've heard of the problem." I said, wait, Steve, I told my friend about the problem a few times... My friend said the owner was gone for a few days, SO, did my friend ever tell Steve? I don't see why he wouldn't. Now they won't call me because I made contact with the state?? In the name of business and customer service, are you serious, Brake Masters? That's one good reason you should call a customer back and give a professional explanation, and at least try to show some credibility! Hey, I'm all for profit, but if you know someone and he's a friend, you would expect him to get you at least a fair rate. I couldn't believe it! Did my friend make any attempt to say anything to his employer on my behalf? Sadly, I don't think so. They moved down the street to: 17209 N. Cave Creek Rd. read more

We all feel like we know great service when we get it and realize how difficult it has become to get great service. BUT, you really know you are getting great service when you compare the service / price you get at one place versus a competitor. My vehicle has 125,000+ miles so when i took it into a service center near me for warm AC and asked them to also look at other items (brakes, shocks/struts, a small fluid leak under the engine, etc.) that might need to be repaired. It took them a full day just to evaluate and they came back with a recommendation to add freon for the AC, front + rear brakes needed replacing & based on the miles shocks and several other items must be replaced. Plus they said they were not able to confirm the source of the fluid leak and I would need to pay for the technicians time to assess it further. The price was shockingly high. From a friends recommendation, I went to Brake Masters (17209 N. Cave Creek) for a second opinion. WOW, what a difference in service and cost. They quickly identified the fluid as hydraulic and the source of the leak (one of the engine mounts). They walked me through what items needed to be now (just front brakes) and which items were functioning fine and could wait (instead of the previous place that wanted to replace things just based on the miles on the car). The price of the AC freon + dye and the front brakes was 20-25% cheaper then the other place and the engine mounts appeared to take a ton of effort (raising the engine) so i was surprised it wasn't even more expensive. Even though their location is not convenient for me; When it's time for those other items to replaced, I will absolutely be going back to this Brake Masters. If there was an option for six stars I would give it a sixth star. From the moment I walked into the shop I felt like I was in great hands with Dave the owner. You can tell that he really cares about his customers. He is more than fair with pricing and can take care of all your car's needs. I love that everybody who walked in was treated like a regular. I dont know if their business ethics have changed but i brought in my car and Steve Valentine (previous manager) took a look at my car and determined what the problem was by ear and a simple process of elimination with my vehicle's fuel injectors and spark plugs. Within 2 minutes he knew what it was, went out of the way to issue out the repair for the vehicle when the shop was about to close and had me out of there by the end of the day and ready to go to work the next day. He saved my a**. I recently bough another vehicle and had that looked at for free, mechanic took for a drive, looked at the engine, removed the tires to check on the brakes, fluids, etc. I told the manager Steve Valentine that i totally appreciate what he did, and thats how you keep customers, since now there is only one place i will take my car in for a checkup and that is this Brake Masters. The manager is now someone else and they did a straightforward welding work on a harness underneath the vehicle, pretty standard price, no complaints. read more

Update on the 8/25/16 post. Mike at Brake Masters made it right and refunded the money for incorrectly installed ignition coil and the fuel injection service. When I arrived in the morning an envelope with a letter apologizing for the mistake, a check, and two free oil changes were ready for me to pick up. I've spent quite a lot of money trying to find someone who could fix my AC on a 1992 Honda Civic. I live in Phoenix so it's hotter than blazes right now and I was getting pretty frustrated and hot under the collar literally. A cashier friend at a local grocery store told me about Brake Masters on Carefree Hwy in Cave Creek and after driving one whole week in triple digit weather, I made an appointment. Since another company had already worked on my brakes and not correctly, they did a brake replacement and worked on the AC. Was a lower price than any other place in Arizona and California. The AC still was having a problem, so 3 days later took it back and they fixed it for free putting in a new switch. They had the truck in pieces and because of the way they did not listen to what I wanted serviced, I had them put my truck back together and took my business elsewhere!
