While I was there I mentioned I had smelled a burning rubber smell recently so asked them to check it. They said it looked like my transmission was leaking so they referred me to Cottman's. I didn't know they normally require appointments so I just went in yesterday afternoon and explained the situation to the woman at the front desk. The owner was in the back and heard what I said and told her I needed to be moved to the front of the line. If I truly had a leak it was extremely flammable so he wanted them to immediately check it instead of sending me away to come back later because there was a chance my car could catch on fire and he didn't want to risk that happening. A mechanic immediately came and checked my car. After their inspection they said I had a few oil leaks, it wasn't my transmission and I could drive it without risk of it catching on fire. They referred me to the mechanic next door since they don't fix oil leaks there. While I didn't end up getting anything done, I really appreciated their sense of urgency and concern. The inspection they did was free which was nice. If I have any transmission issues in the future (which fingers crossed I don't) I would absolutely come back here.

I kept waiting for it to struggle up a hill as it did before, but it is running smoothly. Accurate Transmissions in Durham was a little out of my way, but they came highly recommended. I have an older model Honda and was afraid that my car had completely died and that I would have to buy another car, for which I didn't want to have a car payment. The mechanic (and I believe the owner) offered to have me towed. He told me some other things needed repaired along with the transmission work. I knew that his assessment was authentic because he didn't want to take a chance on making some of the other repairs himself, so I knew he wasn't trying to sell those repairs to me. My Honda is running great! I'm so excited that I took a chance to have my car repaired and didn't give up hope on it. It was a much better option having the transmission repairs instead of having another car payment, or forking out cash on another car. Accurate Transmissions also kept me current on the repair process. I highly recommend this shop.

The worst part about our experience with Accurate is that they did not listen to what we were asking them to repair. We understand that mechanics have to get their own diagnostics but we took it to the dealership AND another reputable service center and both places gave us the same reading (many repair shops including dealer won't work on transmissions). Accurate decided to do what they wanted, most likely to save $$ on their end. Then William, who takes the calls, got an attitude with me after Accurate had our car for 2 months, when I asked when we could expect our car back. I will say, Accurate ended up paying for our rental car which was a huge help after paying $3k to get our transmission fixed. I will keep you posted on our cars progress as we've had it for about 3 weeks now and all is well.

A slow leak quickly went to a fast leak so in the middle of everything else we were trying to deal with we got the tire inflated and were able to drive it to Durham Tire.
