I'm pretty picky about where to take my car not because I'm high maintenance but because I've found that places will try to take advantage of the fact that I'm a younger female who may not know the most about cars (yes, this has happened to me several times throughout the triangle) but it's really nice to know that isn't the case here! I've been here twice for several different things and George and his team were awesome. I was able to voice my concerns, be included in the conversation of what could be done and what's even nicer is they're right next to the downtown YMCA so I could work out instead of waiting inside. They have longer hours which is great when you can't take time during the day to get your car needs met; I mean it's so great that they're open till 7pm during the week! I've always been greeted warmly when I come in which is always nice. If you're looking for a place to get some car services done and need some flexible hours, this Mr. Tire is your place! read more

Went here for an oil change and they quotes me $2k of repairs needed on my car. Got a second opinion before moving forward and no repairs were needed on my car. Don't trust them read more

Great service. Got my tire changed on short notice and was offered a discount. Front desk was great and even spoke to a few mechanics, very friendly and detailed read more

Melvin, Jim, and Brian were very helpful this morning! it can be frustrating when you call beforehand and still aren't able to be serviced. Not here! I called ahead and they said they could get me in and out and that's what they did! and i made it to work on time too. Good crew here. read more

In Durham, NC for a conference, my car started making a disconcerting grinding noise. I thought it was a tire, and Mr. Tire was close, so there I went. I was helped right away, and Anthony drove the car into a bay. He and their head mechanic Jordan told me it was actually a brake problem, and showed me exactly what. I was steeling myself for a hefty bill and long wait, but it turned out to be half what I was afraid of and took less than two hours to complete the fix. Now, that was a relief given my fears, but what do I know about cars and what it costs to fix them? The point is, they were all friendly, helpful, and understanding. It was really appreciated since we were from out of town and on a schedule not of our own making. read more

This is my neighborhood go-to for service. The owners have raised the bar and they have me in and out in a timely manner, and do the service required and recommend what is coming down the road. I appreciate that they want to keep my business and they will. read more

Took my car in for an inspection at 8 am. They told me, "We won't do inspections today. Come back at noon and we'll do it in the afternoon." I'm sorry, what? "Come back at noon." "Yes, sir. We aren't doing inspections today but we will this afternoon. We'll get you right in." Uh...okay. Came back at noon. They told me it was a two hour wait. So to be safe, I scheduled an appointment at 3:30 pm. Showed up a little after 3 to be prompt and early. The girl never put me in the system. She still checked me in at 3:15, told me it would be 45 minutes. At 4:00, the car finally goes up. Then they call me back to tell me that I have a wheel bearing that needs repair. They want to show me. I tell them I don't need to see the wheel bearing, and I just want to know what the impact is. They insist I need to see the wheel bearing. I tell them, no, I know what a wheel bearing is. I just had the driver's side replaced. No, you need to see the wheel bearing. At this point, with this being my fourth trip to the location AND having told them I don't need to see the wheel bearing, I finally snap and tell them just to fix the damned thing. They then failed my car and told me to leave the store. The mechanic got in my face, even when I tried to calmly talk to him. Before today, I had nothing but praise for this place. Now, forget them. They don't want me back, and I don't want to go back. Perfect arrangement. 0 out of 5 stars. read more

Dude up front was so rude that he's got a grown man like me writing a negative review like I'm some Karen. I even downloaded the Yelp app, he got me feeling so petty. His energy was so negative that I just needed to get it off my chest. read more

Location: 204 Morgan Street Date of Service: 04/29/23 First Off The Manager is Rude : Carnell Lunsford For me to be there at 9 in the morning with positive energy and my 2 year old I can't believe they way I was treated. He doesn't take care of his paying customers even if you say for two hours for $860.00 worth of work. You had more time to eat Bojangles with who ever that woman was that drives the red Porsche. Mr. Tire I been using you guys since I was a young adult and this experience took me to a place of no return. LUCKILY: Eli & Stewart FROM MY FAVORITE LOCATION ON DUKE STREET - BESIDE THE BP we're on shift after I received my finished service from the Morgan location. I was able to speak with them and get the answer I needed. Because if you spend $800 you would want to understand what was done to your vehicle. But overall I'm sticking with the location I know and love ELI & STEWART ARE THE BEST AND DESERVE A RAISE !!! read more

Mr. Tire Auto Service Centers - Auto Repair Near Me - Durham, North Carolina

Totally deceiving when quoting you the price... they said $130 for the tire and $99 for alignment... when completed the work, they said the total was $365... they added on $130 for labor, tried to charge an extra $30 for the alignment and $25 for insurance that was never mentioned plus other fees and taxes... I was able to have them remove the insurance and reduce the alignment to what they quoted... but the place is a total ripoff... then, their response is the automated reply below. Not even someone associated with Mr. Tire read more

They are under new management and just ripped me off for $1100. Plus, I had to take my car back the next day since they didn't get it right. Manager never apologized for the inconvenience or explained why the car had to be returned. The old management was great. Now, I have to find another place for repairs and maintenance. read more

Wow I wish I could rate them with a zero star. I made an appointment with this location yesterday morning because they are close to where I live. I needed an oil change. I should have asked for prices because anywhere else I've ever gone to it would range between 45 to 65 give it take 5 dollars. I ended up paying 115 dollars. it took them one hour and 25 minutes on top of it. they had rude customer service from the beginning. I would highly recommend to stay away and go somewhere else. read more

I owe these guys big time!!!! I purchased a large cargo van and it came with a huge heavy spare tire. It was supposed to be mounted underneath the van but the dealership just threw it in the cargo area. I had no idea how to mount it and didn't have the right tools to do it either. I drove up and the amazing team jumped right into action and mounted my tire for me. They have no idea how much this helped me out. Thank you to the whole Mr. Tire Team!!!! read more

Fix your online appointment system. Or at a minimum establish a proper expectation for the customer. You're not exactly setting your locations up for success by allowing someone to book a 'stay and wait' appointment for a specific time, just to be told to come back two hours later when they arrive at the appointment time. read more

Very disappointed after my experience here. First, indoor service staff not wearing masks and not enforcing mask wearing to others inside of the building. Second, they charged me $150 to replace 1 tire with the cheapest option available on an old truck, nothing fancy. If I hadn't been towed there by AAA, I would have gone elsewhere and will not be back. The positive is that they were quick, so they earned 1 star for that. read more

Service was good as expected, that said the reason for this negative review is that zero staff members inside the building, even behind the service desk who had interaction with customers were wearing masks, which are a requirement for all retail and service workers in North Carolina. read more

Similar to another reviewe, very good service but staff, from front desk to the guy cleaning up the lobby, don't wear masks. Customers do NOT want exposed and it's selfish for a business to not mask, to say the least. read more

Wonderful, fast service. I had a blow-out on the highway on Saturday evening. AAA towed my car to Mr. Tire. The two tires that needed to be replaced were an unusual size, so they had to be ordered and they arrived the next day. I am very pleased with the fast and courteous service; especially when you consider it was a holiday weekend. I highly recommend the folks at Mr. Tire. read more

Fantastic service! Took care of my flat in a couple of hours on short notice. #efficiency

Don't waste your time and money here. They didn't talk prices with me and added a bunch of stuff to the bill without telling me. My total was three times as much as I anticipated. When I asked about it I was told, "Well, there's a lot of little fees that add up." They changed two tires and did a rotation, yet neglected to fill all the tires to the appropriate air pressure. I will be taking my car elsewhere next time. read more

I received a coupon in the mail from Mr. tire. However this location does not honor their own company's coupons. Great service and honest. Changed synethic oil for a good price. Did not try to up-sell me on other coolant or oil changes that I asked about - they said they were fine and didn't need changing. I later checked my records and they had already been changed so they were right! read more

Expert service and genuine advice. I feel comfortable with every maintenance job needed for my vehicles here. Trustworthy and honest is how they do business. I truly recommend mr. Tire for any service needed. Quick, fast, easy and reliable. That's what I have to say about that! read more

Made an apt online for a 4:30 state inspection. Showed up by 4:15 and get told they let the inspector on duty go home early so who cares that I had an apt they can't do it. No offer for assistance or reschedule just sorry we can't help. Don't offer appointments and confirm the apt with a confirmation email hours after you make it if you can't fulfill the service. Not happy and will not be returning to this location ever. read more

About 5pm Saturday afternoon I noticed one of my tires was looking flat and sure enough there was a screw causing a slow puncture. I figured I was going really struggle to find anyone open until Monday at the earliest and it would be a huge hassle to have to deal with it around my work schedule. However, Mr Tire was open and not only that, I checked online and they had a coupon for a free tire puncture repair! I drove straight there, got the tire repaired within about 30mins and all for the grand total of $0. Great service, convenient opening times and they honoured the coupon without any hassle whatsoever. Thanks a lot, it would have been a crappy start to the week without you guys! read more

I went to Mr. Tire for my annual inspection based on the fact that they took appointments, were close by, and had great reviews. The inspection went well enough though I needed two tires which they had in stock at an ok price. However when I went to pay the bill they had added "road hazard insurance" for 4 tires (not 2) that I had not approved. The person who cashed me out said couldn't remove the insurance because he didn't know how (it changes the tire price to do so) and I would have to talk to a manager. He couldn't even remove the insurance for the extra two tires I was charged insurance for but didn't purchase. A manager wasn't there then and I was initially told I would have to return to the store the following day and wait for a manager to be able to talk to me to straighten it out. I said I couldn't return and asked to please have someone call me to straighten it out which he agreed he could. That was 5 days ago -- no one has called, the extra 26-52 dollars overcharged for insurance hasn't been removed from credit card charge. I will try calling them later this week, but I am completely underwhelmed with the service that differs so strongly from the other reviews I see here. read more

Sent A acquaintance there to get tires for my car told how much it should cost (I work nights so it's hard for me to do it) but told them how much it should cost. I originally told her to go to thrifty tire on roxboro rd but she went to mr.tire on n duke st. Now my car is already in bad shape so I don't let places talk me into doing $2,000 of work that didn't even fix the problem and you basically just got talked out of all your money. I work on all of our cars in the family me and my cousin. I remember I went there for an inspection like 8 years ago and they were trying to say oh this needs fixed that needs fixed and I said ok I came for an inspection not to pay $800 to replace the button that locks a rear door. So needless to say I've never got work done there before. Anyway I just saw the bill for these "tires" $280. $25 labor to put on each tire then an additional $80. Last time I went to thrifty tire I got 2 tires for $50 or so put on no problem or nothing. So in the short run research or have knowledge into what you are doing before going in blind because something that should of cost no more than $160-$180 max and that's generous just cost an additional $100 on in my opinion "made up work details" partly on part of a consumer thinking that the seller is honest and doing the right thing. The tires are great though brand new great quality. They are pretty fair when it comes to actually buying the tire and they are of great quality and good selection. read more

On Christmas eve I was dealing with a car window that wouldn't go up and facing 3 days of rain. I was feeling pretty hopeless until I noticed these guys were open. Not only open, but friendly! George cheerfully assured me that they would get my window fixed in a couple hours. Sure enough that's exactly what happened. Although I suppose it's a way to make a sale, I appreciated the printout--with prices--of upcoming recommended service on my car they gave me at checkout. It was much more professional than what I've been getting at my usual mechanic. I'll be back! read more

Didn't get it right the first time, but eventually got it right without additional cost to me or being defensive. So this shop has redeemed itself. (MON) brought car in to have raspy, whirring noise checked. Sale Rep recommended a bunch of general maintenance and replacement of alternator belt. A few minutes after driving away, noise was back louder and raspier than ever. (SAT) returned to a re-do. Saturday mechanic said he wanted to check pulleys and bearings, but was short-handed that day and asked for car to be left another day. (SUN afternoon) smoke and burning-rubber smell erupted from under hood. Pulled into parking lot with a really stiff steering wheel. Alternator belt had slipped off so I got AAA tow from Raleigh back to this shop. I live in Durham. (MON #2) Car put to right order. Picking up car was hassle-free, no additional charges to me. They handed me the part that should have been replaced during the first visit - a worn out idler pulley with now-damaged bearings. Personnel I talked to were pleasant throughout and that made a huge difference turning a disappointing experience into a more positive one. read more
