Super nice folks!! Very knowledgeable and took care of those pesky dashboard warnings successfully. Happy momma here!!

I had a tire that was losing air. I called and took the car in and they quickly found the hole and patched it for about $15. Simple problem, but a quick and properly-executed solution by nice and competent people. A pleasant experience in a city replete with service-industry induced headaches. read more

The work they've done for us has been fine, but the administrative side has not been pleasant. Seriously, they should do some work on their teenage receptionist, gal's got a serious chip on her shoulder! Ha! read more

Amazing customer service. Way better price than my first estimate elsewhere. Highly recommended to me by a friend and I would do the same.

I went here on the recommendation of a friend and was very pleased with the service. The technician originally diagnosed two things wrong with my car and quoted me a price which I accepted. When I went to pick up my car, they explained that they had run the diagnostic tests several more times, realized that they did not have to replace one of the parts they thought they would have to, and my price ended up 200 dollars lower as a result. They could have easily gone ahead and done the work I agreed to and charged me more without my ever knowing. Very honest work -- I'll be back whenever I have a problem with my car! read more

I use to like these guys a lot, but recently had two bad experiences... I had them replace a rear view mirror that costs $126 ($30 at an auto supply store) that fell off a month later while I was driving. I also had them replace my wiper blades and the one on the drivers side one came off while driving in a rain storm on the GW parkway! Someone over there is doing some pretty shoddy work, both of these repairs, although small, could have caused an accident. They are pretty good when you take it back, but it's costing me more time off from work to deal with what should have been an easy minor repair. read more

I have been going to Distad's for several years. They are the only auto repair shop I have ever trusted or had a consistently positive experience with. They give it to you straight, don't overcharge, don't find made up problems with your car, do their work quickly and well. The ownership and staff are easy to work with and the place feels like a little family. I had previously brought my Honda to a dealership in Arlington and they were absolutely terrible. The contrast here is amazing. read more

I am so grateful for Distad's. They have integrity and they do a wonderful job. I was really ripped off by a dealership and paid $1500 for a repair and my car broke down after a couple weeks. I found Distad's at consumercheckbook.org rated highly for quality and price and they deserve it. They fixed my car for a very very reasonable price and it's been running great for over a year now. It's so great to find a business that doesn't cheat you and that you can trust and does a great job. I will always take my car to Distad's. They are right next to the Eastern Market Metro. read more

Nice people who do a good job. They are my primary source for car maintenenance. I've been going there for years. Their prices are fair. They're prompt, tell you the truth and are good at what they do. Highly recommend. read more

After trying three places in Alexandria, including the dealer, I have been desperate to find some place that is honest, doesn't charge an arm and a leg, and is also Metro-accessible. Distad's seems to be that place. They charged me less for rear brakes and an oil change combined than I would have paid at the dealer for just the brakes, even after the dealer's special 15%-off coupon. read more

John from Distad's met my high level of expectations. Oil change, wheel balance and rotation, and a fair estimate on replacing my catalytic converter. They're my new GoTo garage for service. read more

I can't say enough good things about Distad's - they get my car in quickly, fair prices, and honest work. I have to admit...I do not know cars and regularly call my dad for advice on sounds the car is making and what to do. This last time I went to Distad's, it was my break pads and rotar. They fixed it in the same day and my dad (who lives in Pittsburgh, meaning way cheaper than DC) was impressed with their price and fast work. Really appreciate having this place so close to home and always recommend it to my friends :) read more

I moved to the hill a few years ago and after reading all of the great reviews decided I would take my car there. All in all they have done most of what I have asked them. I get the sense that they are very overwhelmed and having a tough time keeping up with the large amount of business they do. I often feel like just a number and that they are just trying to get me in and out quickly wtihout really taking the time to explain what is wrong with my car and why I am getting charged for things. I will continue to use them for basic maintenance and tune-ups because they are so close. read more

Great shop! I know cars and Distad's was right on.... I was quoted a repair from the tire shop and Distad's told me that I only needed a wheel alignment and gave me two other repairs to just "think about" within the next year (suspension). This is my new shop! read more

I cracked the driver's side mirror of my car and a replacement mirror holder was going to be incredibly expensive... and hard to find for my car. Distad's cared about the cost and gave me all of the possible options. For now, the quick fix was to just have the mirror replaced and Distad's recommened Ross Auto Glass- who also did a great job. Knowing so little about cars, I've never been comfortable going to a repair show but it was clear that Distad's team is honest, knowledgeable, and really just cares about getting the job done properly. read more

I have been recommending Distad's to my friends for years. Decided today to do it publicly after yet another amazing experience. They are prompt, professional, very skilled and will take care of you. As someone who knows nothing about cars or how they work, they explain what's wrong with my car and don't take advantage of my ignorance. Any time I call in for a repair they give me an appointment asap. It's not always that day, but if it is an emergency it will be. They are a busy shop, they take the time to provide excellent customer service. read more

I have had great experiences with all of my repairs here and have found them to be honest, respectful and reasonably priced. I recently had a tire that was not holding air, I knew the tire needed to be replaced soon (they knew as well and had mentioned it to me!) and they could have just tried to sell me a new tire, but that didn't. They repaired my tire for an extremely reasonable price and I haven't had an issue since. I appreciate their honesty and great service. When I do go to get my new tires, it will certainly be there! read more

These guys are great. Location is convenient, people are nice and trustworthy, and the quality of work is high. When they realized they mistakenly charged me too much for something they chased me down as I drove out of the parking lot to correct the mistake. Probably not the cheapest place around, but worth a little extra to have a pleasant experience when you need a mechanic. read more

I strongly disagree with most of the reviews on here. I think that Distad's has grown too big and can't keep up with demand. I went in because my "Service Engine" light was on. It took a full day to "diagnose" the problem (which meant reading codes from the computer plugged into the car). However, they hadn't really diagnosed the problem and told me I needed to bring it back. Fine. I scheduled an appointment for the next week and was assured that they could fix it in a day. At the end of the first day, not done. Why? Because they "got the wrong part." Of course, the part came in the morning, but they didn't look at it until late in the afternoon - too late to get the right part. Assured again that it would be done by noon the next day. Not done. Finally, I picked up the car (after 3 days without it), and John (the owner) seemed non-plussed about the whole thing. "These things take time." "We have so many cars here and at our other shop." Well, then either turn people away or tell them the truth in how long it will take to fix their car. Now, the car still makes the same noise it did before being "fixed" and the Service Engine light has come back on. read more

Distad's replaced the master and slave cylinders for the clutch in my 2001 Honda Accord. The dealer thought the issue needed a new clutch that would have cost ~$1500. Distad's properly troubleshot the issue and fixed it for ~$450. Car is running like new again. Thanks for an honest assessment and saving me about a grand. read more

These guys are great. I had a leak in my tire and took the car here; they fixed it quickly and charged $20. No waiting, no BS.

I moved to DC 4 years ago and friend suggested Distad's when I needed work on my car. They are always great and get you in out as fast as humanly possible. read more

I love this place. I've lived nearby for years, and frequently get nails or other junk in my tires. They almost never make you wait--they fix things for you right away. One time, a tire that they had patched then started leaking again. I don't think it was their fault--I think I got another piece of junk in the tire, but because it was the same tire they had recently fixed they did it for free. read more

The thought of going to an auto repair shop terrifies me - mostly because I know nothing about cars and don't want to be scammed just because I am a woman. But the though of putting my passengers or others in danger terrifies me more. So - knowing that I probably needed new tires and brakes - I went to a shop in Alexandria that was just awful. I was ready to give up my car just for the sole reason of never having to deal with repair shops again. However, I decided to try out Distad's. Well, if everyplace was like Distad's then no one would ever be terrified of going to have their car checked out and being scammed or confused. Just pull right up (if they are not busy) and they can check out your car right away. Otherwise just call up and make an appointment and drop your car off. They explain things (Shocking for a repair shop!!), make recommendations and do not pressure you. They always seem to go above and beyond. The price I paid for tires was more than 100$ less than what the other place was saying - even with higher quality tires. I will never go anywhere else again! read more
