I left the experience feeling concerned if this place really cared for a patient. I have to agree with the office enviroment, the front desk receptionist and the effort to show any respect to the patients. This was my 1st time stepping foot in the office doors as my son had his 1st consult without me being present as I had to work. The 1st red flag should have been that they told my son to bring $1500 case! What kind of medical office would ask for that kind of cash from a 18 year old boy. The appointment was for extraction of 4 impacted wisdom teeth and we have 3 insurance policies to cover the procedure and I had all the insurance pre-certs yet they wanted me to pay the entire bill prior to billing insurance & in CASH.. The office staff was talking over me and not allowing me to speak and continued to raise her voice and yell at me when I asked for the estimate of services being billed and told me she did not have one because the billing specialist is on vacation. After continues disrespect from the heavy woman with glasses at the front desk, my son and I walked out and said we do not need your service. I should also mention that his procedure was scheduled for 9:45am and the doctor pulled up after 10:30am next o us in the parking lot while his assistant was smoking outside the door. If I could give zero stars, I would. I came as a referral from my dentist (who later told me he has taken Boyer off his recommended referral list). Boyer had NO idea what was going on, was beyond rude and made me feel very uncomfortable. Totally unprofessional. I actually declined his service because I didn't have faith he had the ability to safely perform the procedure I was there for. STAY AWAY. Also - read the "not recommended" reviews. Very telling. I've never had to have an extraction prior, so I don't have a baseline to judge against. Had to have a wisdom tooth extraction. The process seemed to be very efficient, once he went to work it was probably 10 min or less , however seemed somewhat medieval. Novocaine was injected couple times and wait, then grind yank pull, grind some more, yank, pull, stuff in some gauze, goodbye. It bled for 3 days, took months to heal up and was in pain for 7 or 8 weeks. Still pulling pieces of broken bone out of my gums occasionally. I've heard people tell of painless extractions and mild soreness for a couple of days, my experience was as far from that as you can get. read more

There was no problem in hearing due to masks. My teeth are not difficult at all. I went to Dr Abs and he removed the wisdom tooth with local numbing agent. No problem. Dr Boyer was just rude and abnoxious! My interaction with him was a total of 3 minutes and it was enough! Had I read the yelp reviews for this practice, I would never have gone there. You have to wonder why you have SO MANY terrible reviews. Most terrible experience. No excuse valid to treat patients in this manner. read more

Dr. Boyer provided me with great care and caring. His staff were exceptionally helpful. My procedure was painless and after there was very little discomfort. I went to Dr. Boyer when no one else could see me for 4-6 weeks. He took care of me the next day and his wonderful care continued through follow up care. I will return to him for any future needed procedures. read more

The experience was not anything out of the ordinary with the doctors (they were nice and did what they can, but the receptionist, Chloe, was very rude and unprofessional. I had questions about billing and she was completely unethical and rude in her response. Even hung up on my husband and I. They even charge interest about bills that were never communicated to the patients. At the end of the visit, I gave my card to pay any payments I owed to them and the doctor said "don't worry about it". I thanked him and the receptionist canceled the payment then. I have all the means to pay it I just wished they would have taken my payment then upfront when things weren't so tight instead of billing me during a global pandemic when it was clear I was unaware I was even being billed and being charged interest. Just don't go to this office, very unethical and bad communication skills. And after your comment, I have to say something. This practice is trashy and shady. That's all I am saying. I paid in full because you guys are not up front, which is pretty apparent from other reviews too. Who know what other "policies" you wouldn't have notified me about if I did a payment plan. And the HIPAA means you don't give information without my permission which you had full permission during our phone call (see another twist of the truth to make your shady practice look better). The doctor was nice at first, but when I came back for a follow up because I was in a lot of pain, he didn't seem to want to give me the time of day. Went in for wisdom teeth removal but I left with 2 cracked molars. the Teeth that were cracked bordered with the wisdom teeth and they were cracked in the same spot on both sides. I am updating my review because it's not allowing me to respond to your comment Glenn. My review of your sham of a business is not because I feel like my "insurance didn't pay enough," it is because you are DISHONEST AND UNETHICAL! But that was a nice attempt in trying to cover your sleazy tracks. You did not include my initial $200 payment that I made the day of my extraction when you first submitted the claim. You also coded it as fully impacted when it was fully errupted because you want to make more money. You should be ashamed of yourself. Then you have the gall and audacity to reply the way you did. And no, gloves were most certainly NOT worn which is why I went to my dentist for the follow up exam to make sure that it was healing properly and not infected. I agree with the previous negative reviews. If I could give Dr. Glenn Scheive a ZERO I would. Before my procedure in Dec 2019, I asked for the medical code that covered my surgery so I could get it pre-approved w/Insurance. They did, but he did not bill under that code and it was then billed as a dental procedure. He also had the nerve, when I called 5 days ahead to make sure all was on schedule, to only mention THEN that I would need to pay him $1300 when I came in. I told him I would give him $500 in good faith and did. He gave me the same BS about hating Cigna and what they pay him as an in-network provider as others have posted. TOO BAD DR SCHEIVE! Not MY problem. You agreed to their payment terms when you became in-network with Cigna. After over a year of trying to work this out, per Cigna he now owes ME money. I have filed a financial complaint w/them against him. I have also called my attorney as he has now threatened me with Collections. AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS. I will be alerting the BBB and the ADA. His name should be Shyster, not Scheive.***Also, they are NOT open during the hours they post and they do not return calls until they're good and ready, specifically Paula in Billing out of the Bloomingdale office. I do want to say that I have had no dealings with Dr. Boyer. My procedure was in the Wheaton Office. Lastly, you can't leave a message with the service (for any of their 3 offices) to get a call back unless your cancelling an appointment. Really? read more

I don't ever want to the one to complain about things but when it comes to the dentist i get nervous. I had a tooth that had a filing in it that fell out then the rest of the tooth broke off. When i went in to this office to have the tooth removed, i asked the staff a question and they said it doesn't matter i still have to pay them, i also was very upset with the fact that i never ever had stitches in my mouth after i requested them because my body doesn't fight infections well and i didn't want to risk it. I was never put on antibiotics either. Once the doctor pulled the tooth and was gone and literally walked out the door the same time i was. This was the worst experience ever. I was extremely upset and i would never recommend this place to anyone. DO NOT GO HERE TO TAKE A CHILD HERE THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE PATIENT JUST THE MONEY! read more

I had been dreading getting my wisdom teeth extracted since my dentist recommended to take them all out back in 2011. I went for a consultation with Dr. Boyer, and after having an x-ray taken of my teeth, he suggested I only needed to remove my upper wisdom teeth since the bottom wisdom teeth were not bothering me and were too close to a nerve in my jaw that could potentially cause damage. Scheduling the appointment for the extraction was quick and easy--I was penciled in for the following Tuesday (the Bloomingdale office is open Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday). The day of, I was extremely nervous and informed Dr. Boyer and his assistant and they reassured me that it wouldn't take that long and told me stories to keep my mind off worrying. One of my wisdom teeth was a simple pull and the other was bony impacted, so I opted for nitrous oxide and local anesthetic. The longest part of the procedure was waiting for the anaesthetic to take effect. I was surprised at how easy the whole thing was. I even got to keep my teeth in a little tooth shaped box. They even let me take a selfie with them which was pretty neat. read more

What an experience. My Mom needed a tooth extraction and was referred here as a specialist. My Mom was nervous so I drove her to make sure all goes well. Good thing I did! The dentist didn't know which tooth he was supposed to extract and asked me to go home and retrieve some sort of paperwork, even though he had X-rays. What?! You don't know which tooth to remove? What a joke. He was also very unpleasant and seemed angry. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Their office also hasn't been updated in what looks like 20 years. read more

We had a terrible experience! My son had 2 impacted and 2 exposed wisdom teeth removed 1 week ago! We had gone back 2 days for rechecks because my son , who is 21 and not a whimp, was in much pain. Also, oddly, they did not give him any antibiotics either? However, 40 Norco was prescribed! They kept sending us away saying all is fine, take Advil too, gave us antibiotics! Well Friday we saw them , same. My son decided to eat nothing only drink because he was so afraid of anything making it worse! He had to return to school, got into another Oral Surgeon, treated him for dry socket! His text to me! I feel like a million bucks! I have special Gauze and I can eat, painfree, and need to go back Wednesday and Friday for them to replace and I should be fine! So, NO. I would NOT recommend Boyer & Schieve! I had to have a molar extraction and bone graft and Dr. Boyer and all of his staff were outstanding! Every single person that was in the office treated me with compassion and respect. I was terrified because in the past it's always been a problem to get me numb. Dr Boyer explained everything to me at my first consultation. I decided on IV sedation and I had no problems at all. My tooth came out in one piece. I had a bone graft and stitches put in and I had no infection, no dry socket and no bruises. I didn't even need the pain pills but I did follow all the post op instructions that I was given. I went back for follow up 2 weeks later and to have my stitches out and once again no pain, no infection and I was out in 15 minutes. Dr. Boyer is a outstanding oral surgeon and I would not hesitate to go back to him again. I also felt that I was well cared for even though I was complete nervous wreck. read more

First off I want to say do not listen to any of these negative comments! I called in and made an appt but couldn't get in for 2 weeks. That night I was having a lot of pain with my wisdom tooth I could hardly sleep. I couldn't even brush my teeth without having an electric shock due to my tooth being cracked, so decayed and nerve exposed. I called the office in the morning to see if maybe there was any cancellations. Dr. Scheive told me come on in. I got there and thought I was going to end up running out the door. I was shaking and completely scared let's just say I was a big baby!!! But the office staff was very caring and help people with horrible anxiety. Now getting to Dr. Scheive one word AMAZING! He is very kind, professional and comforting. I can't even believe he had my wisdom tooth out in literally 2mins. I thought it was going to be longer I had my eyes closed and my ear buds on full volume. I couldn't even believe I didn't get through 1 song. All that fear and worry was for nothing! If I ever need oral surgery again which I hope I don't I'll be calling Dr. Scheive. Please do not listen to any of these negative comments they are wrong. My daughter had her 4 wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Scheive. Everything went very smooth. She had no problems. Recovered quickly and was back doing her daily activities within a couple days. I would highly recommend Dr. Scheive if your teenager needs their wisdom teeth out!! read more

Thankfully I only had my bottom two wisdom teeth pulled out and not the other two. This place is a factory all you are is a number. They could care less how you are feeling during the surgery and how you feel after. I was telling the doctor I was in pain as he was ripping my wisdom tooth out and he said it was fine hes almost done. The nurses are even worse here they could care less how you are feeling. After my surgery I told the nurse I was in a lot of pain I had to tell her 3 times before she threw an ice pack at me. They also do not tell you anything after the surgery they hand you a piece of paper and send you on your way. In my bag of goodies they did not include a syringe about day 5 after my surgery it tasted like I had garbage in my mouth well I pretty much did they didn't bother to explain that you need to use the syringe to clear the food and what not out of the holes. I should have known this but I was loopy from the pain meds. I then got the dreaded dry socket again they could care less that I had it Boyer wouldn't even tell me if things were healing up ok I had to ask my dentist. They have 3 locations, Lombard, Wheaton, and Bloomingdale this obviously proves this is a tooth pulling factory and they only care about making the most money they possibly can in one day. I'm sorry but if you work in the medical field you should at least pretend like you care about the people you are performing surgery on. Very disappointed I will not be going back to him for the top two even if he said he would do it for free. read more
