Very disappointed with what has become of Comprehensive Dentistry. After going there for 45 years, they now have temporary workers cleaning teeth. Each "hygienist du jour" seems to "phone it in" while "kicking the can down the road" for a subsequent visit. When I requested that my records be transferred to another dentist that hasn't "gone corporate" to maximize their profits, they were not happy. So much that I can't help thinking the desk staff wanted to gang up on me. I was all set to call the police. read more

To start off, this location is up to standard basically the only good thing I can say about this place. On the backside, if you're looking for a reliable dental office THIS IS NOT THE PLACE. My family and I have been lied to about what our insurance does and doesn't cover. We would clarify with them multiples times before anything gets done. They would still with no shame continue to answer dishonestly. They would say yes to what isn't covered and no to what was covered through our insurance. Even after claiming to have looked into the insurance to "make sure" rather it's covered or not. There's no trust coming from this location. Avoid coming here. read more

A little story My son in law went to the dentist a few weeks ago he gave his insurance company all the information he was not informed that his insurance was out of network after a few days he got a bill for several hundred dollars asking him to pay the bill as soon as possible he called them and picked them up once. He was told his insurance was out of network and he had to pay the full amount. He called a second time, tried to get an explanation, no one answered. He called for the third time. No one answered, he called for the fourth time. No one answered. I just call today I get some stupid explanation. I said I cancel my appointmen. And all my family. They just lost 5 patients, becouse they do not know how to treat a people. Be aware before you go there. read more

This was the day of my appointment. I was scheduled at 10am and got there about 15 min early. Ok no biggie I get with Covid hrs are different. Closer to 10 and still see nobody so I poke into the dentist next door and ask of they know what's going with these Dr. The receptionist said I was the 2 person who came in asking about them..... huh ...... ok....... So I call the number and get the vm........ ok oh here comes another patient who also has a 10 am. So about 10:10 I say f this and leave. I call again and lvm. A few hrs go by and no call back . So long story short Jessica, Ruth both thought of was funny that nobody bothered to call me and tell me my apt was cancelled. And when I got ahold of the office manger ..... wow. Just wow cause I won't take the next apt a month later that you messed up and not to mention this was already a reschedule. I get Covid and that's fine IF it was due to that. Your office messed up and your way to fix it was a further out appointment instead of talking with the Dr to try and make an exception. I was told that the Dr have no say on how the appointments are scheduled. And yes I was yelling and swearing, not going to lie. Was made me more mad was the 2 people who thought it was funny and an office manager who was too lazy to try and accommodate a long time patient who's apt they messed up on. I had a different dentist who sold me a flexible plastic guard for my upper teeth not too effective for TMJ but at least it did not make my TMJ worse. I had been a patient here since 2016, used to be great service. I was sold an ineffective and quite harmful sleep guard for my teeth grinding issue. TMJ type guard or so I though. Yesterday, finally got a proper TMJ type of test, so for over one year, after eating only protein shakes 2x day and a very small meal soft food only. My problem got worse when I started to wear this guard almost Full time after getting a special exam by one of the owners in early, 2021. So finally a different dentist altogether, I got a second opinion about the guard I had purchased here, and found out that this kind of night guard is actually making my TMJ problem worse. I had seen 3 dentists at this practice about my teeth, my inability to open my jaw wide, and had them see me with this supposed Night guard, only one ever said he knew nothing about this guard, but I was never referred to an oral surgeon directly, not given any names of oral surgeons only. None were ever written down. So the correct tests were never run. I have a degenerated left Joint that now will require reconstructive surgery. No dentist here ever referred me to an oral surgeon for my teeth pain or problem. I have been using sensitivity rapid release tooth paste for over 3 years I even use it before I eat so I can eat. When my brother came in April, I could barely eat my lunch, so when we went out again, I ate only soup. I will never trust any dentist at this practice. The special exam was done by one of the owners of this practice and by wearing the wrong guard I actually damaged my jaw even further. Never trust this dental place ever. Shakita is great I will miss here, great hygienist. Now I see the actual referred oral surgeon next Thursday, who knows maybe I could even eat steak again, wouldn't that be great. Clearly do not buy any jaw or sport guards from either Sharon or Claudio. read more

While I agree with all of the comments made by the earlier reviews. We were not impressed with the billing department. We had asked on numerous occasion to verify that they accept our insurance, and that the procedures were covered. We were told by the staff that our insurance covers it. Then we got a bill from them stating we owed money. They said it looks like insurance does not cover some of the procedures. We felt they gave us false sense that insurance would cover the visits and then charged us. Dr. Claudio is great and very knowledgeable. But DO NOT TRUST the staff to call your insurance! I would save your self the headache and call your insurance company yourself! Will not be returning. read more

Drs. Claudio & Sharon Levato are hands-down the best dentists ever. No, I'm totally serious. They've been in this business since before I was born, and they are constantly doing research and writing articles and presenting lectures and trying out the latest equipment. They are at the top of their game, and I wouldn't trust anyone with my teeth except them - for real, when I lived on the west coast for six years, I still came back to get my teeth cleaned here every six months. And on top of their skill and talent and love for what they do, they are genuinely nice, kind people. This place shouldn't even be in business. They drilled two wrong teeth on my fiancé. They also recommended her to a really bad dental surgeon and didn't even apologize. Instead they have the nerve to send us a bill for drilling two wrong teeth. They only provided a stupid discount for the issue. I have been going to Comprehensive Dentistry for a few years for periodontal problems. I go in every three months to have perio maintenance. The staff always treats me with respect and kindness. Recently I had a tooth extracted by Dr Abadilla and his assistant Amanda. Amanda was sweet and friendly and made me feel at ease. The tooth had cracked below the gum line. Dr. Abadilla extracted the tooth carefully as to cause minimal damage to the bone so that I could have an implant put in as soon as the site heals. The procedure was quick, painless and definitely comprehensive as Dr. Abadilla and Amanda explained everything they were doing throughout the procedure. Well, where do I start... when I first went based off of my mothers recommendation they were great, then the quality of their work turned to crap. I am now left with an uneven bite since my last crown- my back teeth do not even touch anymore! The crown was left uneven and rough against the tongue side of the tooth. So disappointed I spent thousands of dollars there- and my mouth hurts bc of my bite. I don't want to go back to have them "fix" it Bc I don't want it to be worse!! My mom had some issues so she stopped going, now me, and my husband too!! We are all done there!! Also one of my cleanings was literally in and out in 5 minutes!! Terrible!! I'm so disappointed and sad my mouth is messed up now! Also... I did go back TWICE to try and have the tooth preventing my back ones from touching fixed/filed down. No success- which is why I lost my faith in them. read more

My boyfriend needed an emergency filling done and his regular dentist was booked up. So I called Comprehensive Dentistry and they were able to take him the next morning. I accompanied him on the visit and both of us were BLOWN AWAY. The staff is soooo incredibly friendly, they gave us a tour of the office, gave us a little gift, and answered every question & explained everything. I was so incredibly impressed by this place that I booked mine & his next cleaning with them that very next day. If you hate going to the dentist...THEN GO HERE. Visited Comprehensive Dentistry on October 9. When I walked in the door they knew my name because they recognized my voice from the phone. The staff are very people friendly and so welcoming. I received a welcome card and gift bag. I have never been to a dental office that does that. They gave me a complete tour of the office and explained what each machine does. Recently made the decision to find a new dentist, found CD through my insurance company and read the reviews posted here. I must say all the reviews are spot on - the staff from when you first walk on the door to the assistants to the hygienists and the dentists are extremely friendly. I was given a tour of the facility and everything about the practice was explained to me up front. You are spoken to by everyone on a first name basis and made to feel welcome and at home. My teeth are in good shape and I was not pitched any extra services. I dreaded having to spend time and $ searching for a new dentist, and now I will not have to! read more

Brought my 5 year old daughter in and saw Dr. Doodes. He was wonderful with my daughter who was a little nervous being it was her first teeth cleaning. She did amazing with the kindness and informative nature of the doctor and his assistant (who was equally as lovely with my daughter!) It helped a lot that they showed her everything and how it worked and what it's purpose. She even got a tiny cavity filled and giggled the entire time! Nothing negative to say here. Cracked a molar in half and needed it pulled. I've had teeth out before so knew roughly what I was in for. Saw Dr. Doodes, and I have to say, this was the best experience I've ever had in having a tooth pulled. The first time I went to this dentist, they gave me a welcome bag and were sooo nice! I had issues with my insurance and waited a year to switch just so I can go back to this dental office. While waiting for my new insurance to kick in, I had really bad tooth pain and called the office to see if they can do anything. They made the exception and saw me that same day without charging me. This dentist office is very modern but watch out of problems with the following. 1. the staff are not talking to each other, I called and related a message to staff which I was guaranteed to be delivered to dentist. the dentist called me repeatedly to get my response. this happened too many times to be just a mistake. 2. to make up for many mistakes, I was told my next work item would be covered without any cost to me (insurance only) . This was a flat out lie since I had a credit on record, they just used it up and said nothing to me until I wanted to use my credit later. Do not trust this office, go somewhere else. read more

Went in on 10/9/13 for my first appointment and very impressed. They knew me by name, they gave me a gift! They showed me around and everyone there shook my hand and introduced themselves so I felt welcome and like I was the most important person there! When the hygienist sat me in the room they were kind and had a fancy handheld xray machine to get a quick image of the cracked tooth. I am a technical support person so I love the utmost technology they have there! Dr. Sharon Levato was super kind, making me feel comfortable, and really thorough looking over my chart and talking to me about my concerns. She had this awesome tool that while looking at my teeth is also a camera for me to see my mouth on the big screen in front of me and she can take a still photo if needed to document anything. It is amazing as I have never seen dental groups this advanced without being charged more for it and the pricing so far does not seem overly priced, it is reasonable and comparable to other dental groups. She tried to save the cracked tooth by drilling the decay out and she did a wonderful job numbing me up. Also gave me medicine to calm the tooth and make me not have pain until my root canal on 10/22. I will at that appointment see the St Charles office and another dentist in the group. So hoping that will be just as great of an experience, even though root canals don't sound like fun! read more

Was told by another dentist I would need 6 fillings after he used his Diagnodent machine. I was uncomfortable with him and his diagnosis so I went to Comprehensive Dentistry right around the corner for a second opinion. They had the Diagnodent machine as well and lo and behold they told me I needed NO fillings. I have been going there ever since and find them very respectful and always make sure to watch out for my sensitive areas. I would highly recommend them to anyone. read more

While I agree with some of the previous reviewers about the super friendly atmosphere when on your FIRST visit, I would STRONGLY advise anyone to STAY AWAY from this place. Stuff ignorance is just beyond believe - it almost cost me MY LIFE! Here is the whole story: I went there after reading some of the yelp recommendations and was blown away by the welcoming atmosphere. Dentist - Dr. Doodes - explained the procedure and proceeded on pulling three of my wisdom teeth and repairing one cavity during a single visit - To "save on time". He explained that antibiotics won't be necessary and send me home with some pain killers. Two days later I developed pretty bad infection and called Dr. Doodes to get some antibiotics. He wasn't available so I left him a message on his voice mail. His assistant called me back and said that doctor can just call the prescription in to my pharmacy (Another disaster of a place). I told the assistant to make sure that the antibiotics he prescribes doesn't contain Penicillin - which I'm extremely allergic to. He said OK, and couple of hours later called me back confirming that the script has been send to the pharmacy. I asked him again if the antibiotics contain penicillin - he said no. Went to the pharmacy to pick it up, came home took a first dose - and guess what? He prescribed me antibiotic that was penicillin derivative!! I almost died that day ... They had my information on the file, I asked the assistant twice and they still prescribed me pills I'm allergic to! After the whole incident no one even called and ask how was I feeling. Clearly all they care about is your money! This is not over yet - Today office manager called me telling me that I owe them almost $500 because my insurance payed less that they anticipated! Even though I spoke with her few months earlier and she said that all of my accounts are current! Do yourself a favor and find another dentist! read more

This was the worst dentist I have been to. I was in so much pain since Sunday and needed a root canal. Well, They were very nice at first but kept shoving me off to another specialist because apparently a root canal for a bottom molar, was too difficult for them to handle. I was told one of the doctors doesn't do root canals on molars, which I thought was odd. I also realized that they mentioned, more than once that they were incapable of numbing a back tooth enough because of the nerve placement. So I had to go see a different doctor who then refused to work on me because I was "in pain". Finally, I went back to my previous dentist (Valley View Dental) in Naperville and they took care of me right away! No questions asked, no excuses. They even greeted me by name, more than one doctor did in fact. They had to numb me a few times but here I am, alive and well. I just wish I didn't waste 5 days at comprehensive dental, when they gave me false hope of helping me get rid of the pain and taking care of the root canal. read more

EXTORTION!!!!! Let me start by saying I reviewed the reviews from yelp for a while and this place received such high praise, that I had to try them. I made my appointment, things went well, the welcome was great, however; you MUST watch your statements, since 9/24/14 I have had to speak with Ameer about the billing, they sent in to get a eob for work done, as I explained that I needed to know what I would be liable for, since they require to you to put down a down payment just to hold the appt spot. I received a bill in the amount of $28.80, I forgot to contact them due to health problems, then I got a reminder for my appt. which made me remember to contact them so I went online to reschedule my appt, only to find that now the bill is 43.80, I called and spoke with Tim on January 15th at 10:56 am to cancel appt, until billing was corrected. Then I spoke with Margaret same day at 12:20 pm who tried to get me to accept that my insurance co. downgraded after the fact, and since I didn't respond, they charged me a late fee. I told her I was not paying it. She said I will speak to the office manager and get back. That never happened. So January 20 comes, 4:19 i get a text reminder for the appt. I cancelled saying see you at 6 tonight. I got home from work and called and spoke to Tim again, who said "oh you wanted me to cancel?" I will take you off the book, after hanging up, there was a voicemail message from Margaret stating that she was going to go over the bill when I got there. So not only are they frauds when it comes to billing, but they don't repect clients enough to honor their request. Now today I look online to see if the problem was corrected; and Hell no, now the bill is $58.50 They had the nerve to charge me a no show fee. I called and got Tim again told him how pissed off I was and that they need to get this taken care of or I will be telling anyone who will listen. Once again I'm told they will have Ameer call me. This is totally unacceptable! I signed an agreement and honored that, so how a bill goes from ZERO BALANCE TO $58.58 IS BEYOND ME. What makes this so bad is at the time of discussing this with Ameer, I was clear about my financial situation and told him when I pointed out the first error on 9/24/14. You do the work you agree to do for the cost you agreed to do it. You don't take advantage of people. read more
